In an act of apathetic desperation I ordered a pizza from Papa Romano's last night; I was hungry but uncertain about who's pie would be available and pleasing at a later hour. Seeing that this location is only about 4 minutes away I figured it was worth a shot. I have had Papa's pizza before but really have no formal opinion. Writing this review I feel still kind of the same way, I ordered a large square pizza with half mushrooms, half feta (bonus points for having feta!) and an order of cheese bread. I think that cheese bread may be one of the best comfort/stress foods ever. I had a coupon for the pizza--er, there's a coupon on their website--so the total was under $14.00 which I didn't think was too shabby. Within 15 minutes from ordering I was home to and from Chez Romano and back to my living room to start decompressing with a glass of cheap red wine, DVR'd Degrassi, and my pizza supper. The square pizza looked similar to that of Jet's or Uncle Andy's from the top, but it was actually quite light. I don't know how to describe it other than compare the crust to soles of running shoes, like there was more air in the crust. The pizza was perfectly cooked and the mushrooms looked fancier than canned so that was a positive. I think their sauce is blander than some restaurants and the cheese bread could have used more garlic. I think they may use garlic powder on the cheese bread because it tasted more subtle than others of its ilk that are bathed in garlic butter magic sauce. I was okay with the pizza but it wouldn't usurp the title for the first call on my pizza speed dial. I will also say that it re-heated all right in the microwave today at work so that's another plus. Not to mention, who else makes heart shaped pizzas for Valentine's Day?

Since this take out place, I will keep this review simple: Excellent cheese bread - so much cheese.. it makes me smile after opening the box Absolutely excellent antipasto salad - lots of fresh greens, meat, and other veggies. Though it is their Italian salad dressing that makes the salad so good! Wonderful chicken wings - I highly recommend the Italian wings.. You will love these wings. Very delicious peperoni and cheese pizza - I recommend the getting a round pizza! The staff is fairly friendly. It depends on how busy they are when you go in. Also, go on line to print off their coupons. Lots of good deals.

Ok, had an early tipple and needed FOOD. Was going to go back to Dolly's which was ok last time but took forever until I read the other more recent Yelp reviews. OUCH! Maybe not. So, decided on Papa Romanos as a try. Not bad. We orddered: 1 Medium Garbage Can 14.44 +Thin -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 Medium Chicken Mediterranean 14.44 +Thin -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 Papa Wings 1 lb. 6.99 +Plain and there is plenty for the following day's breakfast/early lunch. Wings were pretty good and we will definitely have them again. Pizzas were better than Dolly's, and we both enjoyed them. Delivery was actually a little earlier than stated (35 minutes as opposed to the 45 minutes quoted). So will do it again when the mood strikes.

Delivered 40 min late after calling twice and being on hold for 5 min the first time. Food was cold, pizza had barley any toppings, boneless chicken wings were gross & had almost no sauce. Never going back...

Since moving back to Ferndale, I'm walking distance from Papa Romanos. I haven't had the opportunity to enjoy one of their pizzas in quite a long time since it seems most of them have closed down. Good pizza. The place itself is a bit dingy. My only real knock on the place is that if you want feta cheese, it counts as two toppings. I've had pizza at pretty much every chain and mom and pop pizza place around and no one else counts feta as two toppings. Ordered pizza from them last night and it was way underdone. Couple of teens working in there and they didn't seem to know how to do their job.

A great store and a great product. The pizza is delicious and the staff is helpful and courteous. Fresh ingredients and great pricing. They are always eager to please.

Good location. Ingredients and coupons are not as good as local chains. Messy floor behind the counter (I like clean food food). Skip it if you can p-p-p-please

So, I ordered a small personal pizza and a salad for pick up. Wait about 20 minutes and go and get it. I asked for one of the specials with no onion and no banana peppers. Salad was meh. I mean, it's hard to really screw up a basic Caesar salad. Done with the salad and open up the box and my pizza is ENCRUSTED LIKE FREAKING LIBERACE in banana peppers. I called and he said he thought it said extra. I ordered online. I have a copy of what I ordered in my email. Clearly says no. Those words aren't even easily confused for each other. So his first offer was to remake it and have me come pick it up. Not even to deliver it. I live like 5 blocks away, it would take under 5 minutes to get to my house and they have my address on file and can see that. I say no. I'm not going out of my way because you fucked up. So now I have a 5$ off coupon (the pizza was like 8. At least offer me the amount I paid) that I will never be using.

Horrible. We stopped eating there 6 months ago because of mold in our cream cheese dip but decided to go back and try it again. This time we found a rubber piece in our pizza dip the size of a thumb. It was disgusting. The people there are rude and this place needs the health department to check it out because I'm sure it would be closed down. Please don't waste your time or money with this place. You will be better off

Jet's is my favorite for chain pizza hands down but the Jet's in Ferndale leaves alot to be desired. After trying Dolly's, Como's, Caesar's, Nick's and Howie's I've gotta give the title for Ferndale's Best Pizza to Papa's!! They just do a better job than any other spot in town. The dough is fresh - not fresh, like it was made recently - fresh like you can taste it, Fresh. Their toppings and cheese are quality and the sauce is fantastic. Papa's deep dish has my vote for Best Ferndale Pizza period. Now if we could only get a decent Jet's up in here.

These are 4 stars in the context of chain pizzerias. The Ferndale pizza scene is not so great. Pizza Hut on Woodward and Howie's on 9 mile are abominable. There is good pizza at Rosie O'Grady's, if you can stand being at Rosie O'Grady's. Dolly's will put you on their robocalling list. But Romano's was a good surprise. The pizza is pretty tasty, for what it is. I like getting a small pizza with double green olives and mushrooms and extra pizza sauce on the side. I've had the Greek salad a few times, and it is inconsistent (no surprise). The last time, the olives were pretty gross looking. I've also ordered pizzas for a large group event here, and they were made on time, and the prize was right. Look for coupons online!
