I've been here a few times for breakfast and lunch and always enjoyed the meal. The food has a homemade taste that you can't find everywhere. Fresh and flavorful. Pricing is a little higher than an average Coney Island but well worth it. I will say if your in a hurry go to the mcd's across the street.

Came in post lunch rush---Ordered a blackboard special. The salad was fresh and crisp and the tomatoes and shredded cheese a nice textural addition. The croutons were home made as was the salad dressings I tried. The lemon poppy seed had lots of lemon zest and just the right ratio of poppy seeds to make it very tasty and the bleu cheese dressing creamy with chunks of yummy bleu cheese. The pecan coated sautéed whitefish with maple sauce was served over a bed of fresh slivered carrots, zuchini and summer squash. The fish was cooked properly and was fresh and delicious, lots of small pieces of pecans and maple syrup sauce. The combination was excellent. Can't believe I ate the whole thing but I sure did so n dessert this time. Hoping to return and try other dishes.

My girlfriend and I came here after an exhausting day of travel and I am glad we did! The atmosphere was homey and the waitstaff polite and personable. We had a fish sandwich and a cheesesteak. Both were excellent, but the fish was a tad better. The fries were crispy and fresh, and we would go again if we lived closer!

A large group wanted to arrive at the restaurant 30 minutes before closing and was hoping to stay past closing. We called ahead of time and was warmly welcomed and accommodated. The staff are very friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we were taken care of. The food here is great, the quantities will leave you satisfied. Make sure you get a tossed salad with their house dressing. Amazing! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and you feel like you are at home.

Holy crap ... NO! Want the TLDR version: I'd resort to foraging for mushrooms or consider auto-cannibalism before I made it back into this place. Okay, so where to begin. We showed up with like 25 people- which might seem rude- but we had given them a warning! Also, it was 25 fairly patient people- friends- wanting to relax, grab brunch and enjoy one another's company. Not dash into a restaurant expecting great service with super speeds. But seriously? WOW! Slooooooow! I was with the first 6 people seated- we there like 5 minutes ahead of the rest of our party. We were also the last people served. So, I was torn between coffee (tired) and the thought of warm apple cider. I was going to just go with water (I may have been nursing a hangover) but somehow I ended up with a mug of cider that I didn't order. Umm, okay? Then there was when we ordered. Hi. I'm a vegetarian. Guess they don't get a lot of us through here. So when I ordered my eggs benny with tomato and NO ham she looked at me like I was an alien! Lovely. I'll survive. Then (45 minutes later) when she returns with a ham covered eggs benny and I am like, "ummm" the response was an astounding mash up of two excuses. "The cook already put it on and you're paying for it, so you can just share it with a friend". Wow. Thanks for that. After waiting 45 minutes though I am not sure its worth complaining. Especially when the eggs benny is an english muffin, some overcooked eggs, meat?, and tomato all swimming in about three and a half pounds of butter they're trying to pass off as hollandaise. Service? Besides being glacial, treating me like an alien from planet-veggescape and providing (and charging) for unordered ciders... wow. So we waited around for the bill, it finally came and although we'd clearly said when we started that there were separate cheques- it was all on one. We figured that out (who had that extra cider!?) and pooled cash. One person needed to run a card... we waited and waited and waited on our waitress. Finally we asked the other waitress to run the card. Cool. We're outta here. Saying good by to our 25 or so friends, our waitress appears and is looking for money. "Its on the table and a card was ran by the other waitress." "oh yeah, who?" ARE YOU SERIOUS!? The other waitress was described- the situation was neutralized. I paid for an extra and unwanted cider (and that ham) and I left. Now, while it is unlikely I will be in Fenton again anytime soon (ever)- I think if I were and I were starving, I'd resort to foraging for mushrooms or consider auto-cannibalism before I made it back into this place.

I've been to this place a couple of times now going to and fro. I actually stumbled on the place getting off the expressway to get gas. I thought the place looked kind of adventurous and NON commercial so I stopped in. First and foremost the interior is like stumbling on a loggers camp in Alaska. The interior is rustic and quells any pretentiousness. A huge slab of a tree serves as the bar and genuine log paneling circles the dining room. We are inundated with coney islands. While this is a staple of living in Michigan and especially the Detroit area it's nice to stumble upon a place that emphasizes good ol American home cooking the doesn't start w a Leo's or National. The cool thing about Canadian is that they understand more doesn't necessarily mean better in regards to the portion sizes. I don't walk away feeling like a Krispey Cream donut after eating here. Think fresh made biscuits, cinnamon waffles and homemade soups. They don't bat an eye when I ask for extra veggies in my omelet AND Monterrey jack. They buy most of their produce from local farmers and you can tell in the dishes. The carrots and tomatoes in my veggie omelets taste like the ones from my girl's garden. They have specials for both dinner and breakfast that change daily. These are TRUE daily specials that aren't on the menu. That s a welcome reprieve from restaurants that display normal menu items (like meatloaf or turkey chili) as "specials". Service was awesome. I usually hang around and work on school stuff and they have never rushed me out. Stop in if your in the area or need a pit stop when heading up north on 23.

If yesterday was any indication of how a typical Sunday morning is, this place should be shut down. Where to begin? First, for 7 of us and a child, we were only offered one menu because they were 'short' on them. Really? No coffee for the first 10-15 minutes because they had no clean mugs. After placing our order, we waited over an hour. Folks, the place was 3/4 full. The food? The potatoes looked great and I'm sure they were when they were originally made sometime Friday morning. The place was filthy too. The staff designated one table that they just kept piling dirty dishes on. I will say that our waitress was extremely nice but offered no explanation why things were taking so long. Just an awful, awful experience.

There was five people in the large restaurant and they sat us right next to the only table with people at it. I ordered two eggs bacon and potatoes. Eggs were runny, bacon was burnt and the potatoes wee old and cold. Will not be returning.
