So, let me break down why I love these hole-in-the-wall Mexican eateries... I have a little fetish for peasant food. Ancient cuisine is rarely high end, and when it is, it's generally the result of European influences. I, however, love me some home food when it comes to Mexican or Middle Eastern. When you visit any of the Mexican restaurants in Detroit, my advice is to know what the stand-outs are at each before placing random orders. The stand-outs here were the guacamole (fresh, chunk not purée, limey and spiked with tomato and red onion) and the Gorditas (hot, crisp, cheesy and scrumptious). You can go fancy at other spots outside of Detroit, but that's not how my Mexican friends cook, and that's not been my experience when seeking non-tourist food in Mexico. That type of food is a whole 'notha show. For those who love mom-style and simple Middle Eastern and Mexican cuisine, you will understand the vibe at restaurants such as this.

Dang I'm drooling just thinking of them Pork and jalapeno tamales, and queso tamales. It's what i get everytime. So good. Not as large as other tamales, I'd say 3/4 the size but mmmmmm so good. Make sure to get the salsa to dip em in. Ummm soooo good.

Are you bored with the food @ Mexican Village & Xochi's? I was. Are you willing to drive a little farther into SW Detroit? I promise you won't be sorry. Went here with my girlfriends for a birthday dinner and had a bomb time. Waitress was as sweet as they come, and they never stop coming to your colorfully painted table to ask how it's going. English isn't perfect; but that's the way it's supposed to be. This is a lovely place for any kind of party - tons of kids there - and the margaritas and guacamole are outta sight. If you want to really do SW Detroit, have your birthday here, because if you're lucky, you will get a mariachi guy to give you a Happy B-Day serenade in the alley behind the place (in the super safe parking lot) & you will insist (in your affordable tequila haze) that you never want to go back to the Bagley spots again.

I made one visit and really enjoyed it and plan to be back. The tortillas were extraordinary, made to order by hand. That is what I came for and they did not disappoint. I ordered a shrimp dish which was masterfully executed - it was wonderfully spicy and the shrimp was cooked perfectly - not rubbery at all - which is so hard to find. My wife ordered the caldo siete mares. It was not bad. My only complaint was that it included lots of fake crab meat. It would have been better without it. The other seafood inside was very good and the broth was respectable.

I guess I expected a bit more from this place after reading all of the great reviews. We went with a group of 8 and waited, waited, waited. Mind you this was lunch time and the restaurant was not that crowded. I ordered the tortas with chorizo and eggs and was underwhelmed. The taste was good, but there was nowhere near enough chorizo in the mix. This was mostly egg and more of a breakfast sandwich that a lunch item. Not even the avocado on the sandwich could help this out. Opinions on the rest of the menu items varied so I guess I'll give this place another shot in the future. I want to find another good sit-down M-town restaurant, but I'm not sure that this is the one.

Solid kitchen and great atmosphere. This is great, simple food done well. It's useful if you speak a bit of Spanish.

We decided to try this place based on a four star rating on Yelp. oh Yelp, you let me down again! This is a two star place which by yelps ratings means - meh, I've experienced better. Context: I don't consider myself a food snob, but I have had the opportunity to live in Mexico, I continue to travel there, and cook many regional classic dishes in my own home. Thoughts: Mexican food is not just slapping together beans and rice. However, Mexican food is also not difficult to make. Good Mexican food involves simple ingredients and a good balance of favors. Sadly, the Huaracha and flauta we had today were simply not executed well. The Huaracha needed to be on the griddle a minute longer, the refried beans were very bland. The potato filling in the flautas also lacked flavor. Salt, chile, lime, garlic, cumin, oregano, etc.... Where have all the spices gone? Many reviews commented on the salsas, again, I was disappointed. It is simple to make better salsa at my own home. I am just not sure why these salsas have been so well reviewed? The didn't stink, but who wants to pay for a meal that simply doesn't stink? How about a "good" meal? Again, I don't consider myself a food snob, but I do know what simple, good, Mexican food taste like and this is not it. If you say you are a Mexican restaurant then represent the richness of the cuisine, don't dumb it down. With all the other places in Mexican town I see no reason to return here. As far as some reviewers commenting that maybe it was just the dish they ordered, I don't buy that. Who wants to eat at any place where only a few things are done well. If it is on the menu, it should be done well or it's not worth paying for. Note: service was good. We communicated in Spanish with the staff and had no issues.

Beans were excellent. Chiliquilles not bad. The real disappointment were the Carnitas were on the dry side. But it was full of families this Sunday Morning, and the Caldo de Res looked great. Will try nextime

My boyfriend and I stopped in on a Saturday night around 9:30. The service was very slow and our waitress seemed nervous about having to engage in conversation with us although her English was okay. The three salsas they bring you are really delicious and I appreciated having three levels of heat to choose from. I ordered a Horchata (a rice and milk drink) and the Chiles Rellenos with cheese. The Horchata was really tasty but the Chiles were too heavy on the cheese and the pepper to cheese ratio was too far off. The ranchero sauce was pretty good although more rustic than I'm used to. My meal came with rice and beans (I ordered "whole") and the rice was out of this world - I may go back just for the rice. My meal was also supposed to come with tortillas but our waitress didn't bring any and she never stopped back by our table so I could ask. Had there been tortillas at the table I think I may have enjoyed my meal a little more. Overall, this was pretty good - definitely better than the places right in "Mexican town" but the service was pretty terrible.

This place is what converted me over to the snob I am today. Before eating here I was frequenting the more touristy spots on bagley (Xochi's, Mexican Village, Los Galanas). Being in between jobs I was working at some mindless warehouse gig, where the turn over rate was high, as was the amount of interesting characters you would meet. I soon came across a Rican girl who was quite fun to talk to. When she found out about my dining habits she was quite disappointed and directed me here. I can not thank that girl enough. My girlfriend and I hit this spot up that pay day. Now if you do not have someone with you who can atleast understand basic spanish ask for an english speaking waitress the best you can. I was saved by my girlfriend recollections of high school spanish and some finger pointing. The decor is horrendous. Bright yellow everywhere, but it is still rather interesting. The service is good though, and they have those yummy mexican cokes and Jarritos (if you're not familiar with these mexican sodas try the tamarindo, it is quite good). On to the tacos. It has been over 2 years since my first experience here but I remember it being like the doors of heaven open with all that glorious music blaring and light shining, and it then it all stops and someone passes a taco out and slams the door. They don't look like much, but they are very good compared to most any other tacos I had eaten pre-taqueria discovery. A few notable differences between taqueria's and your run of the mill mexican joint. Tacos do not come fried, they come on corn tortillas that have been heated, instead of lettece and tomatos and cheese you get celantro and onions, they ussually offer more than one salsa option (a pico de gallo(for the weak), a salsa verde (earthy and spicy), and a "green one" which I think is tomatillo). You also get the option of whole beans instead of the refried variety (which I will never go back to unless I have to). For you spice lovers your meal is always served with a charred jalapeno and some raddish to quench the flame. After trying a few more taqueria's they are all pretty similar. The stand outs at this one are the lack of fair skinned patrons, the language barriers, and the crazy decor. Be warned though: if you are happy with your current mexican dining situation in southeast michigan do not eat here (or at any taqueria). It will ruin your view on all of your current favorites. From taqueria forth you will spend much more time driving for mexican.

still a 5 star, but now an expanded menu. Their tacos, gorditas, and shrimp plate dinners are still as killer as ever. But now you can also find on the menu amazing items like sopes! (one of my favorites). and their tortillas are now made in-house! homemade tortillas!! [[ on weekends only]] i tried the fresa licuado (like milk and strawberries blended together) and also the agua fresca guayava (guava fresh fruit water)... both are excellent! I think the beer list also expanded recently. Three of my friends at the table order bottles of Pacifico, which come with a frosty mug rimmed with course salt and limes. They also sell micheladas (think beer and bloody mary together, at last!) they still have the best chip & salsa platter, and the service consistently astounds. i love this place.

We had best salsa and guacamole dip ever! Then came two different soups one with beef one with seafood which were both terrific . The steak and a whole fish were perfectly done. Great service friendly staff

Went here for the first time on Father's Day. Very authentic Mexican cuisine. My son and I had beef tongue tacos for the first time and was pleasantly surprised as to how good they were. Overall, we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The service was somewhat slow and several that ordered after us received their food well before we did. However, it appeared that our server was new and was trying her best to keep up. We'll definitely be back.

Crazy awesome atmosphere. Cool art and cool tables. Staff is legit and most dont speak english so that was cool. THey also have new outdoor seating which is awesome. Cheap drinks. Huge menu. I have no clue what i got anymore but it was pretty good and pretty cheap. No complaints at all. They bring out 3 salsas with the free chips too so that is cool. Awesome place. I would be a regular if i lived in detroit.

Christmas Eve tacos you say? HELL YES!! Steak tacos, minus onion sprinkled with a cilantro. Killer! Top it off with complimentary chips and three different types of salsa and you've got yourself a feast. The dark sauce/salsa was my favorite. My boyfriend had the Machacado. Delicious, and I'm not a fan of eggs. So if you want to sit you butt down on plastic covered, stereo-typical, colorful Mexican chairs while listening to the latest Mexicale tunes, this is your place. Awesome food. Great service although we were gypped out of limes and radishes. Next time, I'll make sure to specifically ask since I'm not Hispanic. ;)

After reading the glowing reviews, I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately my partner and I walked out a bit disenchanted. There were some positives as well as negatives, to this dining experience. Start with the positives. The chips warm, nice variety and yummy salsas. The decor warm and welcoming. My enchiladas were tasty plus the beans and rice excellent, The carnitas were good. The negatives: service was poor, are server slow, the place wasn't busy middle of afternoon. I ordered a small shrimp coctail and it arrived 5 minutes after we had got our entrees. The shrimp had an odd taste. My partner also had Al pastor not good no sweet pineapple flavor at all and was overcooked tasted like beef to me. Perhaps it was just an off day? It wasn't awful just not what I thought it would be after reading reviews. I've learnned particularly with mexican cuisine opinions can fluctuate wildly. I might try it again, not sure, but for the time being I'm gonna stick with, Taqueria Lupita's when in Mexican town.

"One of the best Mexican Restaurants in the US" for Taqueria Nuestra Familia - this is only way I can sum up how I feel about this taqueria! This is the real deal here. No Tex Mex, just authentic Mexican cuisine. Large variety of soup, meats, juices, breakfast, salsas, you name it - they got it. Unfortunately no arrachera. This taqueria has the best carne asada I've ever had in the states. Their signature dish is their gorditas - a la carte or as a dinner. The most delicious, convenient way to eat your favorite Mexican meats. They also offer a full bar, loud music to get you pumped & each meal is served with a bowl of limes. What's not to love?

So delicious, great authentic mexican food. The mild salsa is super flavorful and delicious. Home made tortillas are soft and taste great. I ordered the 4 tacos with rice and beans combo, I chose 2 pork loin tacos one chicken and one Carne asada. They were all delicious the carne asada was my favorite. The refried beans at this restaurant are THE BEST I've had anywhere would definitely recommend this gem!

Mmmm tacos. Dil F lured me here with his tales of deliciousness. Homemade tortillas? Shrimp plates? Tasty tacos? Even alcohol to go with? It was easy to convince my husband to make the trek. Having given into my taco needs at a suburban style taco truck, I knew things were getting desperate. Drinking margaritas with some buffalo wings at a bad chain restaurant? Oh yeah I needed an intervention. I needed to leave my west side coziness and get my ass to Detroit before I ended up at an On The Border raving about the authenticity. Dil's suggestion of this place in a talk thread was a lifeline and I grabbed it baby. This place has real warmth. We were seated right away and my husband happily jabbered to various staff about the menu. My anti social husband. It was astounding. Of course I understood nada of it but he seemed to be having fun. Good enough for me. I was busy chowing down the delicious chips and array of salsas at any rate. Yum. I was starving and ordered accordingly. Everything was delicious! I had an al pastor taco, a carne asada taco, a chorizo taco and a shrimp ceviche tostada. So many happy tastes. I was overwhelmed but not in a bad way at all. My husband opted for the camarones (shrimp) a la diabla and it was simply amazing. Homemade tortillas were great and the rice was nice. Good lord. We shared in bliss. Pacifico makes me happy. I am not normally a beer girl in any way shape or form but it matches perfectly with this food. Who knew? Happy. Maybe it is too long in the sticks or just too long since I branched out a bit in general but I am in love a little bit. I will be back and it the rating will probably go up, I have to hold back a little though just in case it is a mad crush.

Celebrated MLK day with a UYE crew that included Pauly G, Jeff H, and Lorna E. Pretty painless to get to, off-ramp of I-94, down Central Ave and into the Nuestra parking lot. Fairly well-sized, serves liquor, with complimentary chips and salsa when dining in. Ordered a couple of tacos for me, $1.25 tacos can't be beat! Tasty with lots of meat, onions, and cilantro! We ordered several dishes to be shared- a fried fish, empanada with carne asada, chilaquiles, chile relleno, a pozole soup, gorditas, and a huevos dish. Along with a cerveza, I was so full and content by the end! And there was still enough for the others to take home leftovers. Excellent lunch, fun UYE with other Yeeps, and very reasonable for the amount of food. Recommend and will repeat when I'm in the area!

Only once before have I had this quality of Mexican food. Everything was fresh and delicious. Salsas were amazing, and the pork and chorizo succulent. I would give five stars but for our poor service. Servings are plentiful. You can get dinner for two (w/o alcohol) for about $20 and still have leftovers. They have a full bar and a number of tasty looking specialty drinks.

The vibe is super weird and hilarious in here, and while my friend and I ate a guy came through selling purses and perfume, and another guy came through selling toothpaste out of a backpack. It was entertaining and now I know where to get a very unconvincing knock-off Michael Kors bag, should I ever need one. They have incredible homemade tortillas. I ate here a week ago, and I still can't stop thinking about them. I would give five stars if they had real margaritas instead of ones made from a mix, but my demanding hipster ass can't have everything, now can it?

After reading all of the Yelp Love & missing the Elite Outing, I felt I had to get there. Received a very warm welcome "Hola Amigos " The place was packed on a Saturday @ 4pm, had a delightful young server, who knew the menu inside & out, we ordered the chicken fajitas , which were good, but I think the Pork 'Street' Tacos for $1.40 were the deal of the day & Loaded with flavor! & the $4 Margarita was Fantastic! [ Loved the private secure/video surveillance parking lot.]

Yummy my steak fajitas were out of this world. My taste buds were uncontrollable! Definitely the best restaurant that I have been to in southwest Detroit - Mexican Village area. The chips and different types of Salsa that the waitress brought us was unbelievable. Had mild, hot, medium, any type of salsa that suited your fancy! Chips were not greasy and very fresh - sort of filled up on those! Went here for a YELP event that Annette put together. There were a total of 7 of us when we expected about 15 people. The staff were wonderful and our waitress was right on. Came for our drink orders, I still cannot drink darn it, but heard no complaints about the Margaritas! Once she brought those gave us a little more time to chitty chat and look at the menu. Then she took our orders. I got to meet some outstanding YELPERS and very interesting people. One of the YELPERS was in Japan when the big earthquake hit and he was telling us about his experience there - what a nightmare! And then another YELPER was telling us about her experience in Cali and how much she enjoyed it. It was a wonderful event even though we were expecting more. The food came - OMG - what can I say. Not one complaint! The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Just enough spices and tortillas for everyone. The decor was very Mexican - I loved the chairs and the wall hangings. The colors were just popping! It's like a little Mexico without the drug cartel!!!! Definitely a do again. Try it, you just may like it!

I happily discovered that the restaurant is located right down the street from the barber shop I used to go to a lot when I first moved here. The restaurant is extremely clean, the staff courteous & the drinks are very STRONG. For our first visit I'll admit we were a bit boring with our order. First the chips and salsa are among the best I've had in Detroit, the guac was done right with actual pieces of avocado and not the mutilated lemon puree many try to pass off. They also give you a a small dish of halved limes for what ever you order. Some of you know the location of the greatest carne asada taco on the planet (La Pasadita - The Yellow One!) and its the most simple thing on the planet: great meat, hand made corn tortilla, cilantro, onion, a little salt and a squirt of lime. I am happy to say that Nuestra Familia measured up. Too many times I've been presented with over cooked "charred" steak bits hard as gravel (Ahem Ferndale Local). For our entree we split the mixed fajita grill which was not over seasoned so you could enjoy the chicken, steak and very generous portion of shrimp. After eating I was tempted to take a Torta Milenesa to go but decided to not be a piggy and settled on a large jamaica (which is 7-11 sized). I'll definitely be back, and will say that the area is not a "bad" neighboorhood. Its working class and Latin, my barber shop is mostly Dominican. If you're walking around anywhere talking on a $600 iPhone and you get mugged well that's on you. I've never felt ill vibes going down there but like anywhere you travel in the world just be aware of your surroundings...

Delicious tacos. Can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than with 4 tacos and a corona. Brush up on your Spanish, because their English isn't always the best. Had one snafu where the server charged my credit card 3 times because she couldn't read the machine which said it was out of receipt paper. Had to drive all the way back to Detroit to get my money back. Didn't mind eating here again though. Don't worry about your car if you park in the lot, since they have video surveillance.

Take-Out Taco Review Total Average Taco Score: 6.66 (low 6 high 7.5) type: medium restaurant price: $1.25 ea. 9 - atmosphere: I loved-at-first-sight'ed this place. Enter and you are greeted with these gorgeous, melodic door chimes (I ain't no new-ager -- these chimes are really something special, believe you me). The interior has so many bright colors (without being the least bit abrasive). Also, you can't go wrong with lots of virgin paraphernalia. It was pretty full even on a Wednesday evening. Smaller dining section in front near windows, larger seating area on side. 9 - salsa to go: a greenish/red salsa - excellent layers of flavor with some red pepper flakes to boot - a good kick without killing your mouth with spice 7.5 - carne asada (steak): moist, kind of like ground beef, flavorful but not strongly marinated or spiced 6 - pollo (chicken): slightly sweet, slightly ground, moist, no marination or layered flavors 6.5 - al pastor (pork): strangely tastes like it has some balsamic vinegar in it? Tender. Sweet. But one-noted. For the taco meat this place is mostly 3 stars - but since the salsa is amazing, you can drizzle some of that on the meat and you are good to go. The homemade corn tortillas are good but have a slightly odd smell. The ambiance is what makes me want to come back. --------------- Notes for list: - I go in blind - no reviews no nothin' - just me and my own palate - parading down the Vernor Hwy strip (and some offshoots) - ranked out of 10: 10 being the best street tacos from Mexico (in small towns and big cities) - short and to the point: sorry, no fancy artful writing - a girl's gotta plow through these puppies!

The restaurant that spurned Janelle... For me, TNF is right up there with Los Altos. The service is a definite tick above Los Altos and the kitchen kicked out some tasty dishes in record speed. I've only been there once and had: - carne de res in adobo sauce, served with freshly made corn tortillas This was just fantastic. Thin skirt steak in a great marinade with super fresh (and slightly thick) tortillas. The dish was huge! My wife had chicken tacos with cilantro and onion. She thought they were the best she's had in SW Detroit. Nice varied selection of salsas served along with radishes/limes. I like the really dark salsa. The only thing I disliked was the rice. I think it had dried shrimp in it. Not my thing.

Nothing really stands out for me here. The food was good-I had chips and salsa and bean enchiladas. The service was friendly, but super, super slow. As mentioned in another review, there were a few times our server actually said "I can't understand." One thing that bugged me-we received our check in the usual leather-like folder thingie with a space for your credit card. Right away, we put the card in the slot and left the folder-thingie on the edge of the table. And there it sat for 15 minutes. Our server passed by us many, many, many times, and never grabbed the folder-thingie. Finally, I got up and saw other people were in line at the cash register in the next room. So, I felt really dumb, but kind of thought one of the waitresses would have said something. So, the food was ok, and now that I'm more familiar with the location and what's what inside, I will go back.

Surprisingly disappointing. We started on such a high note with a woman making fresh tortillas right where we walked in from the parking lot, delicious chips and salsa (warm chips with mild and hot salsas, avocado crema and pico) and a big menu complete with glossy pictures. As is our way, we a la carted it up to try as much as possible. I started with the Ceviche Tostada, which was good. Fresh, lime-y fish, crunchy tostada, loads of avocado slices and ketchup drizzle on top. Ken had the Carnitas taco on their regular corn tortillas and the Asada taco on their homemade tortillas, both with onions and cilantro. The pork was the fattiest we've ever encountered and surprisingly not flavorful at all. I disliked it *a lot* as the one bite I took included three huge hunks of inedible fat (blech!). The Asada taco was supposed to be steak, but it looked more like ground beef... and, once again, had little flavor. Next up was a Carne al Pastor taco for me - I must admit I was leery of another pork taco after my taste of Ken's Carnitas, but this one was much leaner, with juiciness and flavor. Ken finished with the Chrorizo and egg Gordita with cheese. That was great, easily the highlight of our meal. Loved the crispy outside and soft, squishy filling inside. Interior was large and brightly lit, with colorful tables and chairs and religious pictures everywhere. Our waitress was nice but there was a little bit of a language barrier between us (non-Spanish speakers) and the staff. Large gated parking lot is located behind the restaurant. One of the TVs in the restaurant shows multiple views of the parking lot - I was facing toward it, and it drew my attention frequently. Ken jokingly asked me if our car was still there once because he kept catching me staring at the TV.

I couldn't wait to get to Taqueria Nuestra Familia tonight. I was starving and all I could think about all day was tacos. Fortunately, this place did not disappoint. I was immediately enamoured when we walked in and saw the outrageous, yet delightful, decor. We picked a table and, as there was only one other table with people at it, we were greeted and had menus in front of us before we sat down. Shortly after, the chips and salsas arrived. All 4 salsas were terrific, but the smokey hot one and the green creamy one (what is that? I know it has avocado, but what else?) were really something special. I ordered up three corn tacos (the little soft corn ones, of course), an Al Pastor, a Chorizo and a Carnitas, all with cilantro and onion and queso for an extra fifty cents. I also ordered a side of rice and beans, cause I'd heard they were great... and they were. You can choose between the lovely whole beans, cooked and served with pork fat, or what I now consider to be inferior, the refried. The rice was lovely too. Fluffy and tomato-y and pretty perfect. The tacos were just what I needed. The Carnitas was a bit fatty, but I don't normally order it so that may be normal. The chorizo was so deliciously salty and perfect that I wished I'd ordered all chorizo instead. The Al Pastor was quite nice, tender and crispy in spots. We had a lovely dinner until some guy lit up a cigarette a couple tables away from us, which we didn't expect. I don't know if we were in the smoking section, but I didn't see anything indicating there was any other place to go (there may have been a back room that I didn't see), so that pretty much ended our dinner. We hadn't received our bill, after having sat there for a good 15 or 20 minutes chatting, so I walked to the back (made note of the Al Pastor on the spit that I spotted in the kitchen), quickly paid (with plastic) and left totally stuffed and totally satisfied for probably $8 (the rice and beans were $4, I think). Can't beat that. This place is definitely the real deal and worth a visit... or several.

This was my first time meeting other yelpers. Somehow we found the restaurant with the help of my sister's, Debbie Zebari's, GPS. I still don't know where we were. I'm kind of introverted, but everyone was so friendly and outgoing, that I felt very welcomed and comfortable. The restaurant had such colorful tables and chairs. Loved the look of the place. Most of all, though, I loved the food. I had the enchilada dinner and opted for the green sauce, you could also get red sauce. The enchilada's were the best I've ever had anywhere!!!!! No exceptions. I tried not to eat it all, but I just couldn't stop myself. Too delicious to resist! They don't have fountain drinks. You buy a can of pop, a bottle of beer, or opt for something from the bar. The margarita's were certainly being enjoyed by some of the yelpers. I could almost taste one. Next time... Prices were very reasonable. My dinner was only $7.50. I tasted some of Nicole's guacomole and I'll never go there again without ordering some. Delicious! KiKi had taco's. They looked fantastic. Debbie had steak fajita's. She loved them. Great food, great people, great time. Annette set up the gathering. I'm waiting for the next one!

Try the canorita, its a citrus spiced drink with muddled oranges in a clay jar. Refreshing, any time of the year. I love their tripe and beef head tacos. The beef head is not brains, its cheeks. If anyone knows where I can get beef brains, let me know. I've only had it in curry form before, and I would love to try it in a taco. They clean the tripe better than any other place in the area, because uncleaned tripe is too much for me. If you go on Friday or Saturday night, they have live entertainment. Everyone is so nice and the food and service is the best around.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
