A little better than you would expect for an airport in the states. At least they have micro brands.

Above average for airport food. I like that they have some Detroit specific things on the menu I hadn't had before. Fast and good service.

I had my first fish Reuben sandwich here while laying over at Salt Lake City. We sat down around 3, so the service was quick and polite. The sandwich had great flavor, with a thousand islands dressing and good quality swiss cheese. The fish was lightly fried and very tasty. I had waffle fries on the side and a ginger ale. The waffle fries were crisp, fresh and tasty, great with some ketchup.

I could have eaten my grilled chicken salad but half the lettuce was rotten. The only redeeming feature was the decent beer list with a few good Belgians. The waitress was unfriendly at best. This was one of the first times I was really let down by yelp.

  • Bunn S.

I ordered the fish and chips; the menu reads "Wahoo fish (mild white fish)." I took one bite and couldn't take another; I ate a few of the fries instead. The waiter brought over my bill ($15 for my meal and two sodas) and took my credit card without asking why I didn't really touch my food. Either she's on autopilot (the restaurant wasn't that busy at the time) or she didn't care. I say save your $10 and go down to A8 for better fish and chips at Waterworks Bar & Grill!!

.For an airport restaurant-it rules...at least at 9am..one of the few places here that serves their full menu this early...very good hummus platter app..any burger can be subbed for a black bean patty..and a ton of Michigan beers on tap..I chose the Greenbush Anger black ale...our waitress 'Tequila' was awesome as well...definitely suggest stopping here during a layover.

Food is fresh & so many healthy alternatives provided. Drinks are strong & the usual price you pay in a downtown club. Staff is nice, efficient & helpful. I'll opt to sit at SlapShotz any day if the week instead if the Delta Sky Lounge. If you are looking for Vegetarian & a good selection of Non Vegetarian foods you have come to the right place.

Slowest service I think I have ever experienced. Sat in a booth for 20 minutes. Asked for someone to assist multiple times and just took forever. I won't be back. Food wasn't worth the wait. Next time I am at DTW I will grab a sandwich from a concession stand.

It's airport food, but it's edible. What really impressed me was our service. The girl hustled her butt in a packed restaurant and dropped some extra fries at our table that must have been a mistake in the kitchen. She was very polite and fast.

One of the stops we made during our 6-7 layover at the airport, we sat at the bar and were served our drinks quite quickly. The bartender/server was very nice and she was able to get our food and drinks in a very timely manner. I mean we had a long wait so it wouldnt really have mattered. We ordered some beers, the nachos, a chicken quesadilla and a soup I believe...everything was decent, nothing special. While we were there we did meet a nice lady who talked fast and was very specific about her reuben sandwich and gave us the fries since she said she wasnt fond of them. yup free fries!

Located near A23 in the Delta terminal, this place serves up a decent craft beer list with Michigan represented at this time by Shorts, Atwater and Liberty Street on draft. A few more other brewers in the bottle including Great Lakes and DBC.

  • Jess T.

Detroit airport hockey bar. Yes. Fantastic. Molson on draft? Love it. I was here for a short layover and obviously took the time to plan out my visits in DFW. The taps were hockey masks which was pretty awesome and the food menu was typical all-American bar food at lower than expected airport prices. Only downside is that despite the lack of people in the bar that day, the waitress/bartenders were REALLY slow. WARNING: If you happen to have more than a few beers, try to remember to get your tab early. My friends and I were a little excited to be consuming afternoon delights and lost track of time. That being said, the place had about 5 patrons in it, and we were 3 of them. The waitress was still really slow in getting our tab to us which I have never seen in an airport setting, usually they are thankfully, rather pushy in getting the tab to you. So, I definitely recommend this place to stop for beers and food, just make sure you are super careful of the time as the service was particularly slow that day.

weak food, slow service, stiff drinks if you need them... This place is rough. The menu is well-written, which is a forgery cuz the food's being scraped off the neighboring Coney grill... if they just advertised that they were selling Coney food, I'd be less disappointed and would still order it. But don't advertise an authentic Chicago street dog with all the fixings, then serve a nasty steamed Coney dog with mustard ketchup and a giant pile of jalapeño pepper slices. The service was kind of destitute and vacuous... I actually didn't mind being left alone for an hour, but once i was done and needed the bill in a hurry, it was hard to get that in action. They've got a relatively full bar, and a double Maker's on the rocks helps a nasty ass coney dog with too much fire go down a little easier.

Hovered between 2.5 and 3 stars. Very good service. Came to ask my drink choice immediately and took my order within 5 minutes. Especially appreciative of getting the bill before I asked for it. Server also came to ask how everything was. Food wasn't bad, but not exceptional. I had the Greek Salad. My biggest complaint is that the dish was really a "Decomposed" Greek Salad. No, NOT going bad, but the term refers to dishes that have all the ingredients it should have, but not combined. Everything is in one bowl, but all layered, totally separately, on top of each other.- lettuce, big. (too big) tomato slices, Banana peppers (too many), olives, huge slab of feta, etc - all in separate clumps. I think people do that in an effort to be fancy or different, but most of the time it's just a consequence of laziness, costs the diner more time and effort, and totally eliminates the taste of blended flavors and textures, and besides, it's often difficult, if not impossible, to mix everything that's overloaded in the small container.

  • Linda L.

Beer should be ice cold... Just saying. I guess they don't chill their glasses. Shouldn't the beer still be cold? Turkey Ruben on rye was ok. Nothing to order again. Love seeds in my rye, not everyone loves this. Waffle fries were yummy

this place is attached to the casino which is a plus since we had just left dinner at a greektown spot and wanted another drink or two. there are a lot of tv's here (no surprise!) and a LOT of guys. when i first arrived with my husband at 7pm on a friday, i was the only girl in there! they had good happy hour specials and attentive servers. a note: martinis were part of happy hour deals, but be warned they are the mini martini glasses not the full size ones. i wish i had gotten a beer instead!

Beware of Slapshotz Bar and Grill! They may have cheaper prices, but they like to swipe your credit card more than once. The number on the receipt is incorrect, the one posted on the web is never answered. Pay cash and count your change.

  • Rob P.

Simple but good bar food with a great variety of sandwiches and hummus. Good seasoned waffle fries and onion rings. Sam Adams on tap is always a good sign. Place was only about 20% full (and the airport was empty overall) on a Saturday afternoon. Super clean. Service was fast and friendly and I had good access to a plug to charge the laptop before my next flight.

  • Kelly K.

Eh....it's an airport bar. That means: expensive prices and small portions. I had a beer here and although I didn't pay for it, I know that it was WAY overpriced for what I got. Also, my colleagues kept ordering Blue Light and the waitress kept bringing them just...Blue...no Light. Luckily they were not picky but to some people there's a big difference. The bar is nice enough with an area in the middle where you can stand around and talk while you drink - we took advantage of that since there were so many of us. Would I come back? Maybe if my gate was close by but I'll never seek this place out unless I'm close.

Grab the Michigan Brewing Co. High Seas IPA. Do NOT get the Niko's Three Way Chili; it's a poor representation of legitimate Cincinnati chili.

Very short visit. My wife and I had a layover and decided to leave Gordon Biersch Bar early to hit two places before our flight, we should have stayed at Gordon Biersch Bar. We only ordered fries at Slapshots while we perused the drink menu. The server didn't ask how our food was, we had to borrow condiments from another customer, and our bill came out before the food. Needless to say we didn't order a drink, and though I'd typically tip 100 to 200% for a small order like this... let's just say the tip was adequate for the service.

Sad salad that took ten minutes to put together. Lettuce tasted as if it was not washed. I think the only somewhat fresh item was the pita bread. Easy to go on a diet here lol

Slapshotz isn't anything to write home about, but as far as airport food goes, it's certainly edible. They have your typical "bar and grill" foods... hotdogs, burgers, sandwiches, salads. There are a few vegetarian options on the menu (chili, black bean burgers) that I was a little surprised and happy to see. They also have a decent beer menu for a relatively small airport restaurant (though I must admit mine came out a little on the warm side). Best part of my meal was the fries (think Arby's curly fries but waffle cut - nom nom nom!). Service was kinda strange... We were waited on promptly, orders were all correct but our waitress definitely wasn't there to make friends - very short spoken, not too helpful with menu item info - but! on the other hand, I wasn't looking for a new BFF at the airport and I didn't really have any questions about the menu, anyway. By that logic, I've decided the service neither added or subtracted any stars. You get served and that's pretty much all there is to it. So, overall, the place is passable. I honestly don't know that it's good enough that I wouldn't try somewhere else in search of something better next time I'm around, but at an airport, I'm not sure I'd find anything that was. Read into that however you'd like.

Don't waste your money on this overpriced airport food. It's sad when they can't get soup or a salad right!!

Service can be slow, just be patient. Imagine an airport at 6:30 in the morning. The commuters are like zombies, no one is talkative and the energy is really low. THIS is what I encountered. I, myself, was one of those Zombies. I needed breakfast, and I didn't want to grab something from 'bucks, so I opted for a sit down meal. For a reasonable price of $5.99, I got 2 eggs cooked to order (I added cheese, so $1.00 up charge) 3 pieces of bacon, hash browns and some toast. A very filling meal if I say so myself. Add to that, a cup of some pretty tasty coffee and my total came to under $10. I'd say that was pretty reasonable for Airport food. Again, as I mentioned in my tip: Service can be slow, but be patient, it's worth the wait.

Terrible and unethical. Go somewhere else. We went here for lunch during a long connection at Metro. We could pick our own seat, so we chose a table overlooking the taxiways and the two west runways (22R/22L). The first thing I noticed was a bunch of piles of dirt near our table, meaning they mopped and forgot to clean it up. Gross. We took out our menus which were also dirty, and the craft beer selections had a piece of paper over them. Our waitress brought waters, and I ordered a BBQ burger and my dad buffalo chicken strips. He was asked which sauce he wanted on the side, and he got bleu cheese. I was warned the burger could take up to 20 minutes--woah! That's a long time for a burger. Probably frozen. The food did eventually come out, and it was pretty mediocre. My burger was okay, but the fries tasted like they came out of a bag and then were warmed up. My dad's chicken looked frozen too. The check eventually came out--they charged for the sauce for the buffalo chicken. The waitress asked him which he wanted, and then they charged for it! Without any disclaimer--are you kidding me!? It's already overpriced, do you need to charge for sauce? The waitress was slow and indifferent. I would run so far away from this place. Go to Coney Island or something.

NB: beer / bar review only. Next chance I get, I'll eat here. The beer list here is really good, and not just for an airport bar. The selection of craft beers is really good, with an emphasis on local Michigan brews (clearly indicated on the menu, which is really nice for folks like me who like to same the local fare). Also very nice is the notation on the menu of which pours are pints and which are 10 oz. Service is superb too. It's just like being in a local tavern. The bartenders are so friendly and genuine that you don't feel like you're in the airport (don't forget, though, you do have a plane to catch!). It's really nice to see places like airport bars & hotels joining the craft beer movement, led by establishments like this. I'm already looking forward to my next DTW layover!

Lots of vegetarian options. So-so food but great prices for food. Beer was very overpriced. The service was prompt but not particularly friendly. Will probably not return on my next trip through Detroit.

So I understand that I shouldn't have high expectations for airport food, but this one just stood out as pretty bad - at least what I ordered was. I had the Chicago dog (Detroit style) and the pig wings. Now on the menu, it says that "Detroit style" just means they don't use the poppyseed bun - but I've just had a Chicago hot got yesterday and this was completely different. Not only was my pickle almost non existent, but they also out relish and used a really, REALLY bad quality hot dog. I would bite down, squeeze out all the meat in between the hot dog but the skin would still be in my bun dangling as if it was foreskin.. If I was to try and chew it off, I'd probably look like a dog pulling on a chew toy. The pig wings were overcooked. When I tried to pierce it with my fork, it slid and rolled over instead. It was tough when I finally got a bite of it. Be warned, it only comes in 5 pieces. I do commend this restaurant for having a lot of options and an opened bar available, hence the 2-rather-than-1 star. If you're not looking specifically for American food, I would suggest a different spot.

  • Kate K.

This is a no-frills airport eatery with reasonable prices and decent food. The breakfast special (two eggs any style, choice of meat, hashbrowns, and toast) is priced at only $5.99 and is about what you'd expect from any greasy spoon or diner. Definitely a step up from fast food for about the same price.

    (3)
  • Heather J.

Ordered a tuna melt. I could make it better for the kids I don't have. It was two slices of grilled bread, slightly melted cheese and a copious amount of COLD tuna salad. Too much mayo. You had one job.

    (1)
  • Daniel H.

The food quality was just ok. The place was packed probably because you really don't have very many choices. Service was ok, but no one looked like they wanted to be there. It's probably true of many service jobs, but when it's to the point it brings the mood of your table and establishment down, what a bummer. Burger was worth ordering. Hot spicy wings were not spicy at all. A little on the spicy side. Douse it in Tabasco and it's all good though.

If you have time to kill before your flight, stop at Slapshotz Bar & Grill for an airport respite. Unlike its other location on A Concourse, this one gets crowded and has fewer booths, but I managed to find a decent seat at the bar. Service is no-nonsense and efficient, which is welcome in an airport. Slapshotz has a great list of local craft beer available, plus they make good, strong mixed drinks. Feeling colorful? Order the blue line martini - comprised of rum, blue curaçao, and pineapple juice. It's tasty and packs a punch. Best of all, drinks are priced reasonably, so you can knock back a couple and still have cash in your wallet.

I stopped in for lunch and was not disappointed! Service was kind and quick. I appreciated the beer selection. 24 beers on tap. Mostly Michigan local. I love that! I ordered the Hani special - like a chicken wrap - but well executed. The waffle fries are delicious and they don't I reserve on portions.

    (4)
  • Jessica S.

If you like good beer (i.e. local craft on tap) and a tasty burger that is clearly not a frozen disc, then belly up to the bar. 1. They have a separate beer menu that tells you both the kind of beer and where it's from. +1 2. Bartenders give fast attentive friendly service and banter. +1 3. Burgers are not frozen discs. +1 4. Waffle fries!!! +1 As a bonus they have cheap hot dog options, and as you well know the words cheap and airport are rarely side by side. We stopped here twice and would again (despite the super corny name :-)

    (4)
  • Franklin D.

Sportsy sport sports. Looots of sports. Cheap food (comes from the adjacent fast food joint) and some decent runway views while you dine. I enjoyed a "Detroit style Chicago dog", basically a hot dog dragged through the garden ;) Not sure but I thought I detected a natural casing on that dog, had a little snap when I bit into it.

  • Rob C.

I wish I could give this review a 0 star. They have a lot of items on menu that revolve around chili. The chili is horrendous! This is along the lines of some cheap crap slop that comes out of a can! Also had a chicken sandwich with fries, both had Zero flavor. Took two bites of everything and that was more than enough, complete waste of money eating here! Pretty hard to screw up a beer but wasn't giving this shit hole anymore of my money! DON'T eat here!!

    (1)

This is a breakfast only review. Good inexpensive breakfast. I had a bagel sandwich with hash brown potatoes. It was good and it's a bar so you can get a Bloody Mary too!

Decent sized restaurant in the airport with table and bar seating. The hostess was friendly and took our drink and food order quick. This is good considering it's in the airport and you may be between flights. I ordered typical bar food, chicken strips and waffle cut fries. The portions are good, the fries are over seasoned for my taste. There was nothing spectacular about the chicken strips, battered and thin. I ordered buffalo sauce on the side. This was a good idea to give some flavor but the sauce was not the best. Overall a good place for a snack between flights but don't expect gourmet dinning.

Best place for a beer if you're in this half of A terminal, they have a great selection of at least 10 craft beers on rotating taps, and at least one cider on tap the last few times I've stopped in. Haven't tried the food, although I think it's adjacent to a National Coney Island to-go stand and I think they may share a kitchen and some menu items. I've eaten food from the to-go stand and it's pretty good. Sit at the bar if you can for better service.

Ordered a tuna melt. I could make it better for the kids I don't have. It was two slices of grilled bread, slightly melted cheese and a copious amount of COLD tuna salad. Too much mayo. You had one job.

Sad salad that took ten minutes to put together. Lettuce tasted as if it was not washed. I think the only somewhat fresh item was the pita bread. Easy to go on a diet here lol

Lots of vegetarian options. So-so food but great prices for food. Beer was very overpriced. The service was prompt but not particularly friendly. Will probably not return on my next trip through Detroit.

This is a breakfast only review. Good inexpensive breakfast. I had a bagel sandwich with hash brown potatoes. It was good and it's a bar so you can get a Bloody Mary too!
