Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Best pizza in Detroit. Full disclosure I am from Chicago so I am partial to Chicago Style Pizza. But with that said Pizza Papalis does pizza the correct way. Dough is made fresh, all the ingredients are fresh! Sadly I can't get my fix delivered to me from the downtown location but this location delivers downtown! Problem solved. For those not used to Chicago deep dish pizza, it takes time to make a good pizza so be patient. You can't get pizza in 20 minutes.

The food was average at best. But the customer service was the turn off. Not friendly or welcoming at all. Food that was ordered at the same time was given separately. We asked how long before the other part of our order, and if we could have it all at the same time. They took our food to the back after we asked for hit fries. In return there was a pinch of fries on the box.

We had no problem with the service or the wait time. Our three pizzas were ready for pick-up in 20 minutes on a Friday evening as promised. But this is terrible pizza. The crust was soggy, the toppings were a greasy mess and the ingredients were not fresh - the mushrooms were definitely canned. It was a mistake to order from here.

Ugh very poor attitudes indeed..... They don't want to take your order and when I walked in the door they asked me what I was doing mind you they hd 41 minutes left until closing.... And mind you that all I wanted was a cookie and some fries.... So rude I'll never go back to this location again

Have ordered a few times since moving to the city. If you like Chicago style pizza, it's great. Especially love the flakey crust. Takes a little longer when ordering delivery and definitely pricier than a regular pizza (I'm sure it's due to the increased cooking time) but worth it.

  • Joss G.

VERY nasty attitudes at both this location and the Greektown establishment. Delivery is slow, food was cold with stale fries, the soda was warm, and the phone service was just awful. I wanna give it a shot in the dark and say maybe they were just having a bad day, but there's no way both places are so rude.

Very disappointing I had heard rave reviews about Pizza Papalis, and I am visiting from Seattle I wanted to give it a try. I saw they had delivery and online ordering, which is great. I ordered from work, so it would be ready when I got back to my hotel. The last message on the order screen said "If you don't get an online order confirmation phone call within 20 minutes, please call us. 25 minutes went by, so I called. I got asked to be put on hold, and after 5 plus minutes they came back, I told them that I had placed an order online, and was calling to confirm. The reply I got back was "There are no online orders...what do you wan to order" I told them I didn't have a menu in front of me, and I would call back. Of course, I did not call back.

Placed my order online at 5:30 p.m. Received my confirmation call at 6:00. That's fine. During this call, they said it would be ready in a half hour. Also fine. I arrived at 6:25, they said it would still be a few more minutes. Still fine. I wait in the near empty restaurant for 40 more minutes, only for them to realize my pizza finished, boxed and waiting in the warming oven the whole time, then laugh at the fact that they rudely wasted my time, without so much as an apology? Definitely not fine.

My brother was in the hospital and I called this location to see if they could deliver a pizza to him while he was in the hospital. I am in California and was unable to do it myself. Well, customer service that I received from Danielle and Dale was PHENOMENAL!! I was pleased that everything happened so smoothly. Even the driver, Al was great. He called me when he was delivering the pizza and after to tell me how I could access my receipt. I called other places before Pizza Papalis and none would help me. This is a top-notch team and when I come back to Detroit to visit I will definitely come here to eat!! Thank you for helping me to do something nice for my brother while he was in the hospital!! You're the best!!! ;-) P.S. My brother and the nurses said the deep dish meat lovers was DELICIOUS!!

I have been ordering from this location since I was a kid. Two things have greatly improved since my youth at this location. The service and the time it takes to make my beloved seafood pizza. I get the the seafood deep dish pizza. It is fantastic and filling. Loads of seafood and mounds of cheese topped with a good sauce. This pizza is and has been one of my favorites.

We were talking about great pizza and the Seafood Combo from Pizza Papalis came up and we had to order one for lunch. This is their most expensive pie, but it is quite an excellent taste treat. This has to be the best Deep Dish Pizza outside of Chicago. 5 stars any day!

  • Leila J.

This pizza reminds me of home. Super authentic Chicago style pizza. You only need one slice to fill up. I have gotten this delivered and I have also just ordered it for pick up. I am a pizza purist and usually get only cheese on my pie. You will not be disappointed.

Always great customer service!! Every time I call here they remember me, my order is always correct. There is a young lady there who is always on point. Food is excellent, great lunch pick up place!!

I would say that PizzaPapalis is really 3.5 stars. The associates were all very nice and more than willing to help me with my decisions. I would ask what they thought, and they very truthfully told me. When asked about the deep dish, I was told that I should try it since I was not from the area. We ordered the following items: Deep dish pepperoni Pepsi Hot wings The hot wings were good. They had low heat and good flavor. We only purchased a half-order of the wings, but since we had a pizza coming along I figured that it was fine. It was about this point that my friend let me know that the pizza takes at least 35 minutes to cook. WHAT! That was my initial shock, thank goodness for the Sunday paper -- I read the paper as I waited for the small deep dish to finish. When it finally arrived, I was quite happy with the appearance and the smell. When I began to eat it more, I was expecting a greater depth of flavor. Maybe if there were more ingredients? Not certain, but I will definitely try it again to see if there is any difference. Another customer told me that I should try the cheeseburger deepdish. That is on my radar now. NOTE: If you don't care for large amounts of sauce nor the crust of a pizza, get the thin crust pizza.

I have lived in Chicago since 2002. And in that time I have tried all the pizza big hitters, as a good Chicagoan should but the one that stands out the most is 300 miles east in Detroit. I first had PizzaPapalis with my best friend in high school. At that time it was the safe haven on Greektown that made going there easy. Deep dish pizza that takes 45 minutes to make and a bevy of fried apps to soothe your appetite before you got the pie. Fast forward to current day. They have expanded to several locations, including this Rivertown location down the street from my last Detroit address. And that remarkable taste, buttery crust and prompt service hasn't changed a bit. I ordered some pizza for my parents and I was delighted that it was the same flavor I remember. The ingredients are fresh, the pizza always hot, and the price (while more than Dominos or Little Caesars) is well worth it. You get a meal out of one slice.

This little spot on Jefferson produces round, gushy moats of yum, the likes of which I haven't found in Chicago, Chattanooga, or anywhere else. The deep-dish Spinach Special is a grail I will now drive the requisite 25 minutes each way to procure, as I no longer live down the street, deliverable. My roommate and I used to get its luxuriously heavy, warm box placed in our hands at the door, thank you and slices of this nourishing, goopy treat would be both our moany instant dinner and breakfast the next day. It's a testament to the delicious moistness contained within hearty walls of dough that we'd go giggling into the night, abandoning our prize in its box on a cold stove burner, only to race to it in the harsh light of morn and have it be as rich and delectable then. The spinach in the special is a thin layer of those soft leaves tucked into the cheese and sauce, unobtrusive. The sheer thickness of the fillings therein blow other deep dishes out of the water, as a ratio of mostly dough would only make a plastic cup, not a chalice.

3.5 stars. We just got in from the airport and were super hungry. My co-workers heard this was a great spot to go for great pizza, and it was close to the office, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered a large deep dish VIP pizza, which took about 35-40 minutes to make. That pizza was so good! Very filling. I had to force the last few bites of my second slice down, but it was well worth it. I was a little concerned about the "no hoodies" sign on the door, but I will definitely be back my next time to Detroit.

I think I would give them 4.5 stars of that was an option, as this was the best pizza I've had in a long time. If you like crunchy garlic bread you will be disappointed in Pizza Papalis' garlic cheese bread. It is soft and loaded with perfectly melted cheese and comes with a side of the marinara sauce. I thought it was very good and just wished there was more of it! It comes in one of those large Styrofoam containers and there is 8 pieces. We also had a large deep dish veggie. It's not cheap ($25) but as other reviewers have commented, it is worth every penny. I had one piece and was full. It also reheats really well as I had it for breakfast the next day! This location is easy to get in and out of and is conveniently located near Belle Isle park which is a lovely way to kill the 35 minutes it takes for a pizza to cook. The time flew by and we just took one drive around the park.

If you are a fan of Chicago-style, deep dish pizza, definitely check out a Pizza Papalis. I like this location (as opposed to the one by the Casino) because there is actually a parking lot and it just seems more spacious. My former high school pals and I met up here for a mini-reunion a year or so ago, and they were especially accommodating. They have a second floor area that was perfect for our party of twenty. There is also lots of room downstairs, and would be ideal for a lunch date if you worked in the downtown area. Besides yummy pizza, their calzones and subs are pretty tasty too. Usually a personal serving is more than enough, so it is better to split a pizza with others. The service was good, although these pizzas normally take a while to cook.

We never actually ate at this location, as we always got delivery from them. It was the second-best (deep-dish) pizza I've ever eaten (the best being in Chicago). This was deep-dish at its most delectable; truly outstanding. Their prices are certainly not a bargain, but their pizza is worth every cent. What a treat!
