Staying at the Henry Ford guest housing while my father is in recovery. Ordered delivery from China One based on Yelp reviews... it did not disappoint. Speedy delivery, nice prices, and they even gave us a free 2 liter of pop! The food tasted great and the portions were generous.

The food here is awesome! It's so easy to order for pick-up online (super affordable) and it's ready in about ten-fifteen minutes (basically, we order, wait about 7 minutes, then make the five-minute drive and it's ready to pick up). You can see the whole kitchen behind the counter, and it's always very clean. I've never been in the dining area, as our Chinese food cravings happen in the evening, but it looks very quaint and is always clean. Food is delicious here, as I said already: the egg/spring rolls are great (you know, usually these things are gross or bland or greasy? Not here!), the soups are mind-blowing and flavorful, the dumplings are perfect, and the meats are always cooked thoroughly. The tastiness and authenticity of the food here has certainly earned them the "top 100 Chinese restaurants," as you can see advertised when you walk into the place. Definitely recommend this place to anyone on a budget who doesn't feel like cooking. I also recommend this restaurant in replacement of PF Chang's, whose sweet and sour sauce just pales in comparison (and we all know PF Chang's is too damn expensive for life).

I am slightly confused. Is this resturant the same as China One? Did they move? Gah!

Best old school American Chinese food I've had in yeeeears, like when I was a kid and my dad used to order Chinese food. The fact that they actually serve your food in the aluminum tray thingy with the clear top says it all. It's clean. It's fresh and that thing keeps your food HOT! I love this place! This is what Detroit Chinese food is all about. Their really nice and fast too!

Pricing is great. Food is good. Staff makes you feel unwelcome. This is only take out or delivery. Too many beggars and thugs hang around to eat there.

Since I gave the vile Die-Nasty an utter shellacking in my Yelp review, I feel obliged to let the good people out there in Internetland where to actually find some good Chinese in the D. New China One! The kitchen's clean and sparkling and in full view! They're prompt and super friendly! (Even to the squabbling couple, one half of whom was giving them a really rough time.) The food is yummy and won't clear out your insides again and again! The only bad meal I've ever had here was lobster fried rice, and I chalked that up to me being all half-nickel slick, trying to live all high on the hog without paying the spendy price. But then I looked above the bulletproof ghetto Lazy Susan your order comes out on and there's a nice wood plaque on which "Mystery Diner" praised the lobster egg roll, as well as about everything else. The lobster was probably fresher that day; I mean, how much lobster can New China One move anyway? Portions are healthy; I'll be reheating my Thai Chicken, which was tasty but not really Thai but what Thai from a Chinese place is Thai anyway, and shrimp fried rice shortly as I woke up hungry again and my mouth is watering. While I was waiting for my order tonight, I removed my trusty sketchbook from my bag and began to draw a section of the Great Wall of China from off of one of the scroll calendars that hang on the wall. My cook noticed and gave me my very own scroll calendar for 2012. I don't even half to flip the pages each month which is a big plus if you're lazy like me. Man, they're nice there. Now to look up this "Mystery Diner" on Yelp. They might be hip to some other establishments I don't know about...

The lady taking my order was friendly, the food was prepared fast, and the vegetables in it tasted reasonably fresh. But it was extremely salty... even by chinese-food standards.

I've been eating here since this place opened. their kitchen is open so you can see how clean they are. the menu is typical new york style chinese fare; with a few mandarine and thai specialties sprinkled in. I enjoy their chinese vegetable soup along with an eggroll for lunch. it's only $3.50 plus you can walk up get it and be out of there in 3 minutes. they have a good version of almond boneless chicken which has the chicken deep fried on a bed of freshly stirfried crispy veggies and rice of your choice. the gravy is on the side. their menu is on the internet listed by their phone number which makes it easy to find when you're in a hurry to order and pick up. they're friendly and the place is convenient. you can call in your order and usually pick it up in no more than 15 minutes even in the height of the lunch rush hour. their two or three item specials from the steam table are reasonable and always changing. Open until midnight seven nights a week - it's a good deal in midtown.

Don't be afraid....seriously The building is frightening for out of towners. The small shop that sits in front of the kitchen that serves as the restaurant/take out counter/bus stop is disheveled, cracked, and adorned with generic Chinese food pictures, giant posters of Chinese temples, and banners proclaiming New China One as one of the top 100 Chinese takeout restaurants in the US. I think the banners are legit. Its no frills, very New York style Chinese takeout. The woman behind the counter is always smiling, and she mans the kitchen along with 1-2 other guys. Its always fast, always made to order. HUGE portions, and EXCELLENT pricing. It may look a little scary at first, but this place constantly has 2-3 parties inside waiting for their orders to finish. Dinner combination + crab rangoons = 2-3 full meals of Chinese goodness.

Really like their carry out lunch combo, it's fast, tasty/fresh and an excellent deal. Went back a second time and got Almond Chicken/Shrimp Foo Young combo, not the best of either I've had, but not the worst either. Loved the egg roll. Will go again and would recommend.

I ordered and made a change only to realize that I was twenty dollars overpriced according to the online menu. I had to call back several times to understand that our orders were the wrong sizes which was part of the overpriced total. Eventually when I tried to cancel the order because I was too confused about why it was still overpriced. Eventually an hour after our original order they were ready. I was very upset with the price misunderstanding but the food was very good. And the delivery man was a very kind and understanding.

The food was dry and bland. I did not enjoy my meal of Sesame Chicken. The chicken 2as barely covered in sauce and the rice was unappealing. I won't be going back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
