There doesn't seem to be much in the immediate Greek town area for breakfast, so I stopped in here. I know it is a greasy spoon type place but it was a bit dirtier than I had expected. I sat down at what I thought was a clean table and it wasn't. The server came over and didn't immediately notice how dirty it was. I asked him if he minded wiping the table and he did. Friendly guy. I ordered the home skillet. On the plus it is a ton of food - eggs, potatoes, hash browns, bacon, sausage and cheese with toast on the side or 7.50. I asked for a coffee and water. I noticed the water glass still had trails of milk that had not been rinsed - sort of gross and I didn't see the waiter again after the food was dropped off and didn't bother asking for a new one. The coffee was standard diner coffee. I unfortunately didn't get any refills. Being new, I didn't realize I had to go to the counter to get my check, so I sat a while - my bad. I'm not sure I'd go back who knows.

I went here with my mother in law and son on a weekday when we were Downtown visiting the county building. The food was decent and the service was ok. The place is a little grungy.

A good little diner. This is nothing fancy however if you are in the mood for some greasy diner food then this is the place for you. We came here for breakfast on the weekend it was not crowded. The servers are not that happiest people but they did not mess up my order so I guess it is all good. I had the veggie skillet which was tasty but pretty basic and they used american kraft singles not Cheddar. My husband got the house skillet which he said was loaded with meat. The coffee was pretty bad.

I love this place. Food is great and so is the service. I just don't like the parking so I usually go early morning on the weekends.

Best ham period. Their breakfast is not only cheap, but amazing. Everything is super fresh. Hash browns are absurdly delicious. Try the Ham!!!!

I'm only giving this one star because I HAVE to give it something in order to review this place. This place gave me a sandwich with MOLD on the bread and gave me a beverage with a DEAD BUG floating in it! When I told them, they didn't show any concern and still asked me to pay. Will never go here again. Disgusting food, disgusting service

This place may not be pleasing to the eyes but it is very pleasing to your taste buds. This place is fabulous and extremely cheap. There sandwiches go above and beyond. You must try the different variety of sandwiches. One of the best places in the D.

Best place in town! Great food and great prices! Highly recommended!! Big portions as well. We had breakfast here everyday when we were in town and will be returning next time I'm in town!

Great place if you are in town for business. The ham is fantastic and the staff are friendly. Like stopping at a friends house for breakfast.

The Good: this place is quick, cheap and good. The perfect lunch hole. The breakfast options are endless and the chicken and waffles are to die for. Go there! The Bad: it Doesn't always appear to be the cleanest place, but with the volume they pump out it would be hard to keep up. The Ugly: the neighborhood. Lots of bums and people hanging out. (Don't let it stop you though.

Food and service was great. Went down to the lions game and wanted breakfast. It was either this place or fish Bonez. Ham shoppe is family owned, the food came out fast and hot. Not over priced.

GREAT!! I called with a huge party that I needed to feed right away. They were quick to help. They got out food out fast, it was all delicious, and it was correct. The service was fantastic and the people were nice. All around great experience. A+

Best breakfast I've had. Served in less than 5 minutes with a hearing plate and piping coffee for $7! Ham!..right off the spiral. Friendly and clean environment

Little hole-in-the-wall type greasy spoon. Solid breakfast menu (they have chicken and waffles!) but nothing to write home about. It was very affordable and the chicken was good but I don't know that I'd head over there again unless I was right there. The staff were on it with the coffee refills.

The kindest dining gesture I've ever experienced. I take my own tea bags everywhere I go and by the 3rd morning the young lady attending us served me my hot water without me having to ask for it. Now, perhaps you may not think this is a big deal but I'm from Miami, Fl and maybe that'll explain why I don't expect courteous hospitality, but this modest act of kindness was indeed one of the many highlights of my trip to Detroit.

I was in Detroit for the CWA convention and found this gem with yelp. Great breakfast! I had ham, eggs. potatoes and toast. Great coffee as well. The ham is so good and you get a huge amount. Potatoes are fresh and again you get huge amount. Service is great, fast and friendly. Frequent coffee refills.

Worst Service Ever! I think it's pretty bad when I order breakfast and three other tables that came in after me are served their lunch first.

Walked in here on a Sunday morning around 10 AM and was surprised to find the place mostly vacant, maybe 10 people total in the restaurant. We were served quickly and the staff was friendly. The pancakes weren't the greatest, but other than that our food tasted good.

Been coming here before they moved from there location across from where now the greektown casino hotel is currently located. The new location is much larger with more seating but same great workers and service. If am eating in or taking out still get the same great taste. Love the fact that they cut the ham right off the bone and cook it on the grill. Have tried everything from omelets, breakfast sandwich, specials and my favorite patty melt with fries. Everything is cooked perfectly and in timely matter. Will always keep coming here as long as they are in business. If downtown stop by an give them a try but come early for only open til 3.

I've always passed this place when I'm downtown but this day it was a different - THAT DAY I WAS NOT PASSING IT ANYMORE. **Don't get fooled since their isn't a ton of people** My friend and I agreed to split a breakfast called the "House Skillet" and boy i tell ya - that was a whole lot of skillet. The skillet served 3 types of meat, potatoes, cheese, and an egg on top. I haven't seen a $8 meal better than that at least downtown area. Customer service was nice and friendly - the appearance of the building needs upgrading but it's stil nice.

Good, affordable, and friendly attentive staff. Generous portions of Dearborn ham. Broasted chicken on the menu as well.

Delicious, great wait staff, huge portions, low prices, delicious food. The only thing I have to say is it wasn't the cleanest. But everyone in the store seemed to be super busy and still provided great service, so I really can't complain too much.

Went to this place after the recommendation of our bellman at our hotel Movement weekend. So good we ate there twice. So much food for the best price! Will definitely be back there next year!

I just started working downtown a few months ago, and someone mentioned this place. So, one snowy morning at about 6:40am I stepped inside to experience the magic for myself. I ordered a breakfast special that included scrambled eggs, about 4 slices of bacon, a huge pancake, and a massive load of hashbrowns. The food was so hot and delicious, and they give you soooo much. I actually couldn't even finish it. I wish I ate reheated breakfast food.....but I'm a food snob and I don't. The staff is very nice, and after about 4 pickup orders, they remembered my name and my order. I love this place.

The Gyro breakfast was great. Potatoes were a bit generic feeling but the eggs were great and it was super cheap.

Seriously the best stop we made on our trip to Detroit. My boyfriend and I are both servers, so we're harsh critics. Not only did all the waitstaff work together to make sure every customer had full attention (a rare sight in the restaurant industry!) but they were SO outgoing, it was refreshing! They honestly took time to smile, laugh and chat with all their customers, despite the fact that they were slammed! Food came out super fast for how busy it was (including people waiting for takeout!) and it was phenomenal! I love breakfast, and to get sausage, eggs, toast and hashbrowns for $4.70 is almost impossible to find in this world, but this place delivers. I was honestly so impressed with this place, we left a $10 tip on a $15 bill (yes $15 for two people! That's two full meals and two coffees! Cheaper than McDonald's) and I had to right this review to MAKE SURE you make this your breakfast place of choice.

Ok so my hunny who works for Greektown took me here bragging they had some of the best food. The service was great until I asked for OJ and was brought a bottle with black crude around it. When I simply explained my concern with nothing wanting it I'd be ok with water the manager whom was a lady got pissy with me. Lol. I blew it off and kept it moving. However, on my 2nd visit the manager whom was also serving was our waitress still had an attitude from our visit weeks prior didn't even address us. She simply thru our menus on the table and walked away. Now I looked at my hunny and asked am I crazy for thinking that was rude he confirmed no she's being really rude so I excused myself and asked for the manager which was when I learned she was and I explained when you address customers do you not address them and she responded we don't have time to address you. I said you had time to throw our menus at us but not address us! So my hunny was already ready we left but not before letting her know she should learn some customer service skills and get over her attitude.

We loved this place for breakfast after a night at the tigers and casino hotel. Definitely get the ham- it's awesome. Kind of a dumpy looking place but it's kind of part of its charm. Huge portions and low prices.

Short and sweet a typical diner, with a extensive breakfast menu. Very reasonable prices and most important they deliver breakfast downtown. I ordered the western omelet, it arrived with the hash browns still steaming, and lots of ham and veg in the omelet,

Great place. The food was great and the service was awesome. Good feel in Greektown. Recommend for anyone from out of town or in the downtown area.

This is a must if you're in the area. I had a vegetarian omlette, grits and toast for $5! Big portions, great taste. If you go away hungry it's you're fault. It's family operated and that was a plus. If were ever here again we'll definitely come back.

The breakfast is great and so is the price. This is my regular spot when I'm down there. It's not the prettiest place but the food is on point!

Breakfast! Ham off the bone piled high, eggs done to perfection, potatoes bigger than Idaho, coffee (ok a refill would have been nice), all for $6 and some change. Don't expect to be pampered, but you'll get served adequately. When I saw Detroit Police eating there I knew I was in the right place. Can't be beat for good eats at a great price.

Heard about this little gem on Yelp and had to give it a try. If you're looking for some good ol' home cooked breakfast in Metro D, look no further. Great eats. Great portions. Great price!

Went here for breakfast after spending the night at Greektown hotel. What a treat - this is definitely the kind of place featured on Triple D. A quirky old place with surly waitresses (well only the one we had!) and there seemed to be only one guy in charge in the kitchen. Had the breakfast special - 2 Eggs, ham, hash browns, toast and coffee. Ordered my eggs scrambled as I tend to do when trying out a new place for bfast - just to be on the safe side. However, no problem here, actually my eggs came out perfectly fluffy and moist, no easy feat. Ham was delish! I would definitely come back - - Wish I had known about this place the other time I stayed here - would have definitely saved me some stomach issues. Skip the other so called "breakfast joints" in greektown - get your breakfast jones on at the Ham Shop.

I haven't been to the old location, but have been to the current, new location a handful of times. Ever since Woodbridge stopped serving brunch on saturdays, my boyfriend and I have been coming here for breakfast. The Ham Shoppe is a nice, straightforward, no-frills diner. It makes for a cozy place on a rainy morning/afternoon, which is what the weather was like the first time I had ever been there. As for the food? Nothing spectacular--just standard diner fair. But ya know, sometimes you just want standard diner fair, no arugula-pink-sea-salted bullshit. So if you are in the city and want breakfast food, this is a great place to go. for the love of god, don't go to the detroit breakfast club or whatever the hell it's called. that place is awful. But check this place out; it's unpretentious, cheap, greasy and great. as someone else noted, this place is only open for breakfast and lunch.

A serious greasy grease pit that serves everything with slathered with margarine and coffee with non-dairy cream. That being said they make a good diner breakfast with decent pancakes. And the ham...I'd recommend it. Big, thick, tender slices. Delicious.

The Ham Shoppe is definately worthy breakfast digs. I like to order the biggest breakfast pile on the menu. This one included fat chunks of salt cured goodness. The ham is so thick you need a knife to get at it, the bacon crispy and the sausages are plump and delicious. We call it the tripple pork threat. It's definately a step up from the usual coney b.s. that I mash in my craw at all odd hours. The potatoes are the boiled and fried kind, my favorite. Skin on, super crunchy and paired up with some frank's hot sauce. I have yet to stray from the breakfast menu here. Pretty sure the ham and cheese sandwhiches are pretty off the hook. Not such a bad way to shake off last nights adventures and get ready for the day.

The Ham Shoppe is one of the best, if not dirtiest, restaurants in Greek Town. Prices are very reasonable and the food is great, but be prepared to share a table with a stranger because seating is limited. Get an omelet only if you are very hungry. They're only open from breakfast through late lunch, so you either need to be working downtown or visiting the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.
