This place looks like a total dive. I thought it kinda looked like a liquor store from the outside of the building. When you go inside its like you were magically transported to 1970's dive bar. Wood paneling everywhere. The food was pretty good and the service was spot on.

I think I should go again perhaps sometime soon.... I hate to think that I was a victim of nostalgic charm (ONCE AGAIN!!!) It seems to keep biting me in the ass when I'm looking for something new and interesting in Detroit, I check Yelp and I see a place with great reviews and it just turns out to be mediocre.... a lot of the reviews are based on growing up with that particular place so the history, family and nostalgia factor are high this is definitely one of those times. I was taking my daughter to go see the Derby Girls at the Masonic and thought this would be a great place to check out on the way. I thought the pizza was really average, I screwed up and ordered cheese sticks thinking that they were breadsticks with cheese but they were the deep fried mozzarella sticks... they don't suck but I don't really want frozen mozzarella sticks when I go out to a family run joint. My daughter was diggin the can of Faygo which seemed odd.... and the biggest drawback was sitting next to a couple of douchebags with Chicago Bears gear on (wasn't even football season) and every phrase began with "and then this fucking guy..." was quite annoying with my young daughter there. Service was ok, nothing outstanding. The inside wasn't charming or kitschy or interesting.... it was just ugly and dated (which is fine with me) if the grub was groovy. ...unfortunately it was just ok.

As good or better than any pizza in town. I highly recommend the Double Duece. This is thin crust pizza by a place that has been in business since 1969. I cannot recommend the spaghetti however which was somewhat watery and the sauce did not taste special at all. Lots of interesting stuff on their menu. Friendly staff.

We have been eating here since I was 6 and now I'm 26. I only like the pizza and bread. I have tried almost everything on the menu since they are one of the only places to deliver to me. The past is pretty good but everything else unless you are eating in dosent do well through delivery. The best specialty is the Sicilian. Topped with chunks of garlic, tomatoes, pepperoni and Italian sausage, the flavor is delicious. I also love the dago fingers because cheese on bread is always a winner.

While the pizza was good, it was no better than any other chain pizza and the crust was a bit tough for my tastes. I think you can get the same quality pizza for less money elsewhere. The "Middle East Explosion" could be ordered just about anywhere else without the garlic. While I enjoyed the garlic "chunks," they were not spread about evenly throughout the pizza which leaded to some bites being garlic heavy and others having none at all. It was not "made spicy hot" as expected. The crust on the Detroiter was better and the cheese on the pepperoni was seasoned well.

Had a great evening on May 8, 2015. Went to celebrate Mothers Day and the food and service were fabulous. Ashley the server was great working with a big crowd of 14. From pizza to mostaccioli to Ribs to Cheeseburgers to steak. Everything was great perfectly cooked highly recommend but the environment is a throwback. Needs serious upgrade.

Went back to Gracie See for lunch today - second time there. Decided to mix it up and go with the grilled chicken sub. Came with the same cold salad as reported previously - might have been a bit of yellow pepper in there. Had no idea what came on the sub so I took off the top bun when it came to see what was in there. To my shock, the tomato slice on top still had the produce sticker on it from the market. Are you kidding me????? You didn't take the time to pull a paper sticker off of some food before you sent it out to a nearly empty dining room? Which makes you wonder - did they even wash the tomato? Before I continue - when we were seated, the waitress came to take our drink order, but didn't bring menus. So we asked for menus. She brought one menu for the three of us. Weird - especially considering she grabbed it from a stack of menus. One companion had spaghetti with meat sauce lunch special. Said it tasted like spaghettios. Didn't eat much, but took rest in carryout box so as not to be rude. Threw it away when we arrived at our destination since it tasted so bad. Other companion had the one topping lunch special pizza (they chose pepperoni) which they enjoyed. So the moral of the story - if you are going to Gracie See get the pizza. I, on the other hand, will not be returning.

Love this place! It's the perfect dive where not a lot of people know about it, but enough to keep the place in business. The pizza is AMAZING! We tried this location and the one over on Telegraph in Inkster. The one on Telegraph has a more old school Italian flare and this one has a more divey flair. Service was great at both, but most importantly.... the pizza is the best!

Best pizza in town. Classic traditional pizza, greasy, great pepperoni....try the super or special.

i lovvvve the "Middle East Explosion" pizza hahahaha...very unique. very garlicky & spicy, so beware, but i dont think anyone else does a pizza like this. i must confess i have never had any of their other pizzas because i've been fixated on this Middle East Explosion thing everytime i go.

Real pizza. A lil pricey considering its near Dearborn, where you can usually find a large pizza anywhere for $5...but trust me, its worth the extra money. Quick carry out and people there are interesting, look like they been hanging out there since it opened, I would def recommend hanging out a bit instead.

Having grown up in the Warrendale area as a kid, Gracie See was always the family night out treat. They were my dad's bowling team sponsor for years and they use to roll it out for us when we came to visit. Gracie's dad used to run the joint years ago and he would always come to the table and greet us and talk about his horses that ran at Hazel Park. Fast forward 35 years later and while Gracie herself runs the show, the family feeling still exists. Servers are almost always friendly, unless you act like a douchebag. Douchebaggery is clearly not permitted on the premises. The decor has almost not changed. They still have the vinyl or pleather booths and beer vendor wall decorations. Do the still have the poster of the baby covered in spaghetti? Probably. As a fellow Yelper noted, it's divey but clean. You want fancy schmancy, then go somewhere else. You want a great overall experience, then come here. The pizza is very good. Still as consistent as ever. Great sauce and great crust. You can't go wrong with their antipasto salads either. They still come loaded with the chunks of meats and cheeses. Ask for extra olives. My personal favorite are the meatballs. Go all out and have them add sliced meatballs to the pizza for a minimal up-charge. It's traditional Italian American. Subs are also incredible because of the bread they use and the beer is always ice cold. And while the neighborhood has changed, Gracie Sees has not.

My husbands family has been coming to Gracie See pizzeria for the last 30+ years. He and I are currently on our 13th year. We try to come at least once a month because the food is absolutely delicious. The place itself scared me at first because it looks a bit run down, but the pizza here is so delicious that the decor is easily ignored. We even had our first born daughters baptism luncheon here! Anyone looking for a great slice of pizza and old school atmosphere definitely needs to come here. They're the best!!

I visited Detroit for 4 days and survived solely on double deuce party pizzas. I recommend the garlic crust and the Cajun crust.

Thank you, Yelpers! In Detroit for a quick visit, my bandmates and I needed a good late night eating option, and we were so happy to have found Gracie See's through the Yelp app. Open until 2am, they've got full bar service, and excellent pizza. We ordered a simple large pizza with sausage, and all four band members gave it the thumbs up! And that says a lot, since we have a few 'za snobs. Washed it down with a pitcher of Labatts! The atmosphere at Gracie See's is super friendly, from the moment we walked in we were addressed by staff. I'm not sure if a Gracie exists, but an older very serene looking lady sat us at a booth. Gracie, herself? Looks like she's found the Zen of Pizza, and was very kind. Service was good, and the decor was something else! My phone completely died, otherwise you would be seeing pics of ceramic stallions, a black velvet painting of a horse we called "Wildfire", and decor that has not seemed to have changed since 1974. Love it! I recall reading their Nightly Specials, and Monday Nights are "Adult Milkshakes" night. What in the heck is an Adult Milkshake? And where's Kelis when you need some explanation? Anyway, this place is awesome. The excellent pizza is just part of the draw. I can't wait to return to Detroit, and to Gracie See Pizzeria!

Ok, I like garlic, no wait, I love garlic...but even this was too much for me. The pizza was laden with so much greasy garlicky-ness (new word), we could not finish it. At least we'll be able to keep the vampires away.

I've been going to this place since I was a kid, and I absolutely love it. The staff is so friendly and nice. The owner is such a nice dude. They know us by name when we come in. Now the food, is out of this world. I have never found a pizza that I love more than Gracie's. Their sauce and crust are perfect! They have a wide variety of toppings and choices. Their coupons are also pretty nifty too. They always have some great deals in there. The ambience is somewhat divey, but that's what I love about it. Also, try the Dago Fingers. You won't regret it!

In 2008, Gracie See Pizzeria won 2nd place for "Best Traditional Pizza" at the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, with Italian pizzerias taking 1st and 3rd. In 2012, Jennifer L. went to Gracie See Pizzeria as part of her on-going Detroit Pizza Expo. This technically nonsensical expo considers all pizza but favors thin crust, Neapolitan style. The honorable judge, who suffers from delusions of grandeur, made a rookie pizza mistake before her trip to Gracie's. She did not define her terms. Her argument is as follows. The 1st and 3rd placed pizzerias at the IPE were from Italy. Neapolitan is the traditional pizza in Italy. Therefore, Gracie See's pizza is Neapolitan style. Can we see the error in reasoning? In her mind, "traditional pizza" meant the Italian Neapolitan pizza. In reality, it means the American style. Oops. Well, now that that's cleared up, I think I can stop the third person. How many cool points do I lose for referring to myself in third person, anyway? It had to be done. Gracie's is a 70s retro sports bar serving up many kinds of pizza, pasta, and other standard bar-restaurant-hybrid fare. I went for the thin crust pizza, in the brick oven, with pepperoni and mushrooms (my go-to pizza for a first evaluation). I inquired about fresh mozzarella, but they don't use it. I think I've made it clear what Gracie's isn't, so here's what it is. It's respectable bar pizza. A couple shades thicker than true thin crust, it's still a little crispy and chewy. The mushrooms are canned, and they don't use genuine pepperoni. The three stars for this pizza are on a sliding scale. The pizza was good for what it was, traditional American pizza bar food. Even if it's not exactly my kind of pizza, to rate it as something it's not would be unfair and lame. I may be lame, but I am not unfair!

I am reviewing the pizza only. I had been to Gracies years ago and was driving home late Friday from downriver. Nothing was open then I remembered that Gracies stays open until 1:30 on Fri and Sat. Having not been there in years I ordered a large special for my wife and I thinking we would have some pizza and they would be plenty left over for the next day. It was way too hot when I got in the car so I said lets just want until we get home.....about a 25 minute drive. About halfway home we could not take it anymore because it smelled so good. I dove in and had a piece as did my wife..I then had another..and another. Well my wife usually only eats two pieces but had three..when we got home I killed the rest of the pie...it was SO GOOD!! It was one of those pizzas that everything just worked and blended perfectly..as a good pizza should. I can`t comment on the rest of the menu..but the pizza ranked right up the with some of the best I have had. It was old school..tasty Italian restaurant style pie..the kind I love

The toppings were great. The crust was covered in good tasting butter parmesan sauce, but the actual crust was mediocre. Where is the tomato sauce? Overall, the pizza was good, but it could have been better.

Gracie See use to have the craziest decor. Jimi Hendrix meets The Brady Bunch. With Frank Sinatra. Like trippin' on acid at your grandmother's house. Then they won some pizza contest and took out the crazy ass ceiling panels. BRING IT BACK

More like a 3.5- but the people there were super friendly. At a yelp event, my friend was highly encouraged to check this joint out, and for our monthly get together, he elected to check this place out. AMBIANCE- Place is located on Greenfield Rd. and shares a parking lot with a liquor store. (One of my friends had a bit of nostalgia as she realized it was a liquor store she used to frequent as a high schooler- kind of give you an idea for the area we were in?) The place used to be an old Mexican restaurant, but there is really nothing that would signify that anymore. Just booths and tables with a "hole in the wall" kind of feel for sure. SERVICE- server was engaging and friendly. She definitely treated us like regulars, even though we had clearly never been there. Actually, I feel like we were the only people there that were not regulars as the different servers called out to the customers as they came in and sat down. MENU- it's a pizzeria joint, so of course I focused on the pizza. In addition to that, they had some pasta dishes, sandwiches (it looked they had some sort of sandwich challenge, but I was so focused on the pizza, I didn't pay too much attention to it). They have daily specials, and the day we were there (Thursday) they had upgrade your pizza (ie pay for a small, get a medium, etc...). They also had BOGO desserts (more on that in a bit). FOOD- our group started out with an order of the garlic cheese bread. Seemed pretty simple- to the point where you think you could make it at home. Still tasty. For the main course we rocked three types of pizza- 1 veggie, 1 Sicilian, and I with bacon and pepperoni. The veggie (which my friend ordered as a square pizza) was as he said "just ok." He lamented at the fact that he did not get a round pizza. Still the pizza was loaded with veggies (which is cool if you're into that kind of thing). The Sicilian- (sausage, tomatoes, onion and garlic) was on point and they did not skimp on the garlic, let me tell you. The bacon and pepperoni pizza, though I did not try, my friend really enjoyed. The bacon looked like "real bacon", and they even honored her request of cooking it "well done" as she pointed out 4 times when she ordered. For dessert we tried the cannolis. The shells were a kind of soft, which was ok with me, and the filling was tasty too. If they hadn't been BOGO, I don't know if we would've gotten them. OVERALL- my friend had his expectations a bit high, so he was disappointed, but the rest of our party seemed to enjoy the pizza pretty well. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to check this place out, but certainly a solid option if you're in the area. CELEBRITY RATING- ICP

I came here once with a friend who couldn't stop telling me how great this place was. We ordered a pizza and it wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't good. There are at least 10 places that are better within a 5 mile radius. After we sat down and ordered a very young female employee came to our table and asked us if we wanted to play Keno. We politely declined and she walked away kind of mad, sat down, and then proceeded to stare at us. The restaurant was also not clean, especially the men's bathroom. The bathroom smelled really bad, and well, that's all I'm going to say, just do yourself a favor and don't bother coming here.

This is definitely a solid pizza joint. I look forward to going there once a month with the Warrendale FB group. I love their traditional pizza, and that's what it's known for. The menu includes quite a few specialty pizzas. Some of them are better than others, but I guess it's a matter of personal preference. You certainly don't go to Gracie See's for the modern ambiance or a hoppin' location, in fact, it can use some remodeling and it's not in the safest part of town. But, you do go there for some of the best pizza in town. I'm going again this Wednesday and I can't wait. Maybe I'll see you there?

I can't believe that Gracie's doesn't have more reviews? Gracie's is so good, that any time I have pizza, I am comparing it to Gracie's. I've never ordered anything else on the menu, because the pizza is so good, I can't imagine anything else they make topping it. I'm sure the other meals are great... but could it possibly be better than the wonderfully greasy, old-school pizza? NEVER! I love that Gracie's is a family-owned business, I've always had great service at both locations (see my review for Inkster too!), and they take pride in what they do. I usually get one of their specialty pizzas (they've been running a deal on Mon., Tues., Weds.)- the Sicilian is an old favorite (fresh garlic like whoa. this pizza is the business). They have always been really willing to customize a specialty pizza, and being a green olive fan, I appreciate that! The crust is crispy and the cheese is melty, stringy goodness when you pull out your first piece. You get all of this great food, while also supporting a local business in Detroit- how can you be disappointed?

This was probably our 3rd time here in recent years. A great local find that is very much down to earth with very good food and good service. Not fancy, it is about the food here. Great prices for what you get. The pizza is some of the best. Full menu will have something for everyone.

Great value - really good old fashioned pizza with good pasta and a very friendly staff. If you're on Southfield Fwy, on you're way home from work, go east on Warren to Greenfield and take home a great pizza for dinner at a fair price that is really delicious. Great place to bring the family as well.

Again, I cannot say it enough, order the pizza!!!!! (The cannoli's omg yum.) And get garlic on the pizza, no matter what other toppings you get. The cheesy bread is another popular item, though too much cheese for me. I am not going to stand by any of the other food here, because you may be disappointed. I'm here for the pizza and cannoli's and that's it. Okay, $1.00 draft beers on Wednesday too. You just can't beat that.

I have been to this place a few times now and just can't seem to figure out what all the hype is about. I have purposely ordered something different every time I've come here, and I have been beyond disappointed every time. First I tried the pizza.... I mean it's PIZZA, nothing special folks. I cannot for the life of me figure out how they received an award for this!!!! The next time I went I tried the spaghetti. Yet again not impressed. The noodles were under cooked, sauce was VERY bland and watery, and the meatballs tasted like they came out of a can. I'm sorry folks this is not good Italian food. Just because the family that owns the restaurant are Italian does not mean they do good Italian food. Oh and to top it all off they serve cans of pop. Who does that??? The one redeeming quality about this place is the service though, and the fact that it has a full bar, but I've had better food at other bars.

Went back for more Dago Bread Fingers and to try the pork chop dinner. The pork chops were incredibly dry, splintered like wood when I cut it. Would not order it again. WARNING: The bathrooms are old, worn out, and not real clean. Don't drink too much beer or you will have to use it! (Think of an old gas station in the inner city, where the key to the bathroom is attached to an old wheel) Now you get it..scary...

Gracie See was named "Best Traditional Pizza" in North America at the 2008 International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Warrendale Facebook group does a monthly dinner party there and no one has ever left less than impressed. UPDATE - 1/10/2009 One cautionary note: Gracie See won "Best TRADITIONAL Pizza". I have to emphasize the word traditional because at least one person that I know walked in expecting them to use goat cheese and other things that would have taken them out of the category of being a TRADITIONAL pizzeria. Pizza historically has always been a rather blue collar dish. Gracie See executes that concept better than anyone around. You just have to remember that this is what pizza is TRADITIONALLY all about.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
