Didn't like food at all... Order the Gyro pita combo, bacon cheese burger combo and coney total is $20.04.... However coney was good but gyro is full of lettuce and tomatoes but only few piece of lamb and no taste to it... How is it a bacon cheeseburger without bacon?, French fries and onion ring was soggy and they didn't give my drinks... I would never go back to this place or recommend anyone to go there... I took few bites and threw the food away

Plain and simple, this place is AWESOME! For all you non swine eaters, I strongly recommend you try Epicurus. I had not had a bacon burger in years, and all of a sudden, I am enjoying one of the best bacon burgers I have ever had. Strong family ties, high quality beef and some pretty good fries equates to a continued wonderful experience. I suggest this place for all my no pork peeps and those who are simply looking for a great meal at a non neck-breaking price. Enjoy and If you don't like the fair, keep it moving! Thanks! From the Hungry Big Man!

I love this place. You can get a two slice special for under $5 with a drink. The pizza is greasy like all pizza is, but it is very tasty. I have also ordered food here. I had a mushroom burger and it was very good. It seems like a lot of the on-the-fence reviews are about their Mediterranean cuisine... felafels and gyros and such. I don't like that kind of food, but maybe if that's what you like, you could try the FIVE OR SIX OTHER RESTAURANTS NEARBY THAT SERVE IT!!! :) Seriously, the place is cool. It's quiet enough to study during the day but not so quiet that you can't enjoy time with friends. They are very courteous and the food is worth the small amount of money.

The best pizza on campus. I eat there 2 or 3 times a week. Great prices and friendly front worker.

I ordered a big man breakfast. Hashbrowns were mostly yellow, not brown. They were also soaked in grease along with everything else on the plate. I asked for rye, I got white. Just terrible. I ate the eggs and toast and about half the meat and just left. I didn't even want to send it back because I knew I'd never return.

Since this restaurant is kiddie corner from where I work whenever we have pizza parties I order them from there. I have had no complaints about their pizza. A large cheese pizza with 1 item is only $6 and we order around 10 of them. They usually do not deliver, but for my department (maybe it's because I talk nice to them on the phone) they deliver for me. No delivery charge which is really nice. When going there for lunch you go in and order from the counter - grab a tray, silverware and napkins. They do also have water and ice that you can pour into their plastic cups. You usually wait for the food, if it is going to take longer then they will bring out for you. The price is very low and the food is very good. I have never used the restrooms -- they seem a little scarey! The area is Wayne State University area; whereas, you have a lot of students who are at the tables with books open and cramming for tests or exams. Mostly serve mediterranean food and have never been disappointed.

Yes, that's right - 5 stars. For this little WSU area dive on Warren? Yes. Why? - the pizza. Like any red-blooded American, I have probably consumed enough pizza in my 35 years to circle the globe twice. It is a staple food. However, I have had truly great pizza from only two places in my life. One of them is Epicurus. It's the cheese, first. It is heavy, stretchy, and wonderful. Makes all the difference. The pepperoni is halal beef - great for us that don't eat pork - I usually never get to partake of pepperoni. The crust is buttery and just right. The price is ridiculously low. A large pizza, two pops, and an order of fries is $11 and change. Service is friendly. Drink refills are free. The establishment is clean. I have had nothing but the pizza and don't see why I should go there for anything else (but who knows?). Check it out if you are around. UPDATE: We tried a burger and a gyro. Stick with the pizza. I leave the 5 stars because it is a 5-star experience if you go for affordable cheesy delicious pizza. Burger used canned mushrooms, unimpressive bun. Gyro was just kind of cheap tasting. Burger and gyro with fries and a pop come to $16 - overpriced. Get the pizza with two pops and an order of fries for $11.

Went there for lunch with some coworkers. They raved about the tabouli, which was good. I had a forkful of my friend's tabouli. I ordered the chicken kabob plate. I chose lentil soup as my side. The soup was partially cold and had no taste whatsoever. Then I got my meal. The chicken just didn't look right. I took a bite and immediately knew I was not going to eat any more of it. I couldn't even swallow it. I spit it out into the napkins. Not good. One of my friends took a bite...I warned her not to. She said it was dry as hell. She actually swallowed her bite and I sure hope she makes it into work tomorrow. There was something not right about that chicken. Yet another friend had the gyro sandwich and she said it wasn't that great either, but she mustered the courage to finish most of the sandwich. Oh, and her lunch cost $11!!! We're trying to figure that out. The positives of this visit was that I took my plate and soup up to the counter and the employee asked me what I wanted instead. I said one slice of pizza and he gave me two pieces. So, they are very kind and understanding. The pizza was good, nothing spectacular but it redeemed what was a bad experience. I probably won't return there again. If I do go back, I will just get a tabouli salad. I don't think anyone in my party was thrilled with lunch.

Just superb. Their burgers are very tasty, adequate in portion, fresh cooked. The meat is tender. And french fries are way better than Mcdonalds or such. You will be surprised that they offer pretty stylish dishes, such as Veal dinner. Pretty swift delivery. The restaurant, in my opinion, offer too good food for the midtown area. Their approach is kind of like an upscale restaurant in the downtown. All meat is halal, so double doze for who are into that.

Pizza. Good price, good size, and pretty good. The place needs a bit of work though but other than that I wouldn't mind coming back. Family-owned feel.

I've only been here for coffee and breakfast. But it's good for a cheap place. And the staff is friendly enough. It surprisingly enough accepts credit cards too!

I have been going to Wayne State for 4 years now and I have loved this place for the last 4 years. I should start by saying I am a man of habit and once I find something I like, I stay with it - Epicurus has not disappointed me in the slightest for the past 4 years. For the first two years that I went here, I was in love with their pizza: extremely cheesy, oily, healthy amount of toppings, halal meats, exquisite chicken and bacon and pepperoni - the works, not to mention 1 pizza can feed three people pretty well (always helpful when youre trying to save some money). I loved it. After two years of eating only pizza, I decided to venture a little out of my safety zone and try their burgers. Now, I literally only get their double cheeseburger with bacon (under $9). I love burgers the most out of any food and, having tried several other burger places, I can say that without a doubt Epicurus places in my top 3. The meat is nice and tender and chewy, the bacon is perfectly crisp, and they have a white sauce that is to die for. Get an order of fries on the side and you're literally stuffed. But because of their exquisite burgers and delectable pizza, I firmly stand by my position of 5 stars.

  • Valerie B.

I was surprised when no review mentioned the great pizza! The crust is hand tossed and chewy and the sauce and cheese is just right - I love the fresh tomato pizza. It's not the typical rich deep dish or overly seasoned sauce - just fresh clean flavor and a bargain! The cabbage soup varies in quality - sometimes a bit bland, sometimes perfect. Try the pizza...if you don't like it, you are only out 6$ for a large!

  • Wei O.

Really good gyro meat. My favorite is the gyro breakfast burrito. Hash brown potatos, an over easy egg, salsa and delicious gyro meat all wrap in a lightly brown pita. They also sell pizza but its nothing special. It would be a 4 star if the place looks a bit more attractive inside and out. The owner Joe is a really nice guy but expect minimal service. You grab your own utensils and trays. There are plastic cups and a water dispenser on the side if you do not want fountain pop. In the end, two word: GYRO MEAT!!!

    (3)
  • Lorna D.

This place got me through art school, and I smile now when I drive by and see it still kickin'. A mess o' decent, cheap eats served on a plastic tray which sometimes, in life, is sublime.

Return some pop cans and have a few dollars in your pocket? The perfect place to spend them is Epicurus Place! Enjoy cheap, good food adjacent to Wayne State University! Killer pizza! Free pop refills! Backlava! Don't be turned off by the interior decor, which is reminiscent of a rundown mobile home. Epicurus has good food and offers a casual environment for undergrads, grad students, professors, administrators, staff, professionals, and locals alike. It's great to have some cheap digs other than chains in Midtown! Thanks, Epicurus Place!

I had a hummus spinach and feta pita with fries. The sandwich was flavorless and the fries were undercooked and a bit cold. At least it was fast. Also, it's smoky. And I couldn't find any napkins.

    (1)
  • Will P.

Epicurus gets a 5 star review for one reason. That of course, is the price on their pizza special. Literally for $4, you can get two slices of pizza and a drink.

    (5)
  • Darin E.

This place is a good standby for WSU folks. The food is reliable diner fare, if nothing special. Pretty good value. I would go more often, but it is way to smoky in there for me. I wavered between 2 and 3 stars. Not worth making a trip to if you are out of the neighborhood, but well worth the occasional stop-by if you are a Wayne Stater.

  • Jackson R.

just visited here again, hoping for the amazing sandwich I had last time and it was an entirely different sandwich. or, well, it's the same, but the chicken on the chicken shwarma pita is NOT chicken shwarma (like it was last time), it's just basically chicken. I have seriously been dreaming of having that sandwich again for a month. bummer

    (3)
  • Wadim S.

Pizza is great, so is the burger. Order a whole pie so it's hot and fresh. Also they have cool breakfasts. Awesome shwarma sandwich!

i go here twice a week and get a super greasy sub-par breakfast and a carrot smoothie between classes. the carrot smoothie is just ok. the breakfast is cheap. sometimes i don't leave a tip since there is minimal service. yes the guy brings your food out to the table but thats it - the rest is on you. every time i go here i always go to my english class. my english class is really stupid. discussion questions like "who has it harder, men or women?" or "what is culture?" the hallway in state hall today smells weird as hell, like vomit or chocolate really? also i heard that the dude from epicurus beat up a guy hoping to use the restroom. the epicurus dude thought he was homeless or something. 2 stars because i think the place is growing on me... i mean, it's the most convenient restaurant i've ever come across given my fall 10 semester. if i had a choice to eat cheap food alone anywhere else i'd probably do it but man as long as you have franks red hot and can make eggs, hash browns, and toast, whatever.

Family Style dining institution for over 40 years on the wayne state campus. middle eastern food is their specialty. but hey have pizza, burgers and fries and even a breakfast burrito. the cheap fast food is always recommended first for new comers tothe area.

A great little family owned diner with an eclectic menu. Cheap eats, cheap eats, cheap eats. Make sure you go early for lunch. The place is packed M-F during this time. Great place to grab a quick breakfast. No real fanfare here. Expect a cafeteria style service.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types.
