Went there today on the recommendation of a friend. Said he ate there often while attending Wayne State. I am a veggie person, so i went looking for Spring Rolls. Best Spring Rolls ever! :-D Fried to perfection and the vegetables inside were perfect :-D Maintained their crunch... :-) Sign of fresh food :-) The restaurant appearance was clean and the service was excellent. The young lady who took the order and prepared my order was enthusiastic about all the fantastic energy and changes that are happening in The "D"... Just had a beautiful experience and wanted to spread the word and support local business :-) So good, I went back and ordered 10 more to take home and freeze :-D Two a day is the plan :-D

This place is your best bet for food poisoning. Dirty is an understatement. Someone should call the health department Die Nasty....say it again....Die Nasty

Die-nasty is probably the worst carryout Chinese food I have ever had. On the phone I was told 5-10 minutes for preparation, which confused me, until I saw the prep method in person. All Chicken dishes begin (or rather continue life) as part of a giant bowl of pre-fried meat nugs which are then fried again into unchewable submission prior to being packed for your consumption. Quick, yes. Edible, no. If you want msg laden indigestion, but actually want to be able to chew your "food," go to china 1 or China house, which feature the same gut-bomb fried meat lumps (and the same standard catalogue-ordered menu-pictorial guide above the counter) but have more sympathy for your jaw. Also note that that consuming this food will both put you in a coma and leave you hungry an hour later.

It might not be sparkling inside, but damn those were some fresh and crunchy veggies in my chicken & broccoli dish. Great flavor and good ingredients.

Coming from SF I can't really say I like this place but it is probably one of the closest thing to Chinese food I can get here in the D. Cheap, dingy, and well loads of msg. Not much I can really say. I got the buffet meal or whatever you call it for 4.95. Rice, 3 sides, a drink, and an egg roll. Not that I would have eaten the egg roll but I didn't get one. =[ The food isn't amazing. Two stars for cheap (although it seems too cheap) and quantity.

Went back here again, but ordered something different. I got the Jumbo Shrimp Combo from the menu, and it looked pretty big (if you can see from my picture), but the "shrimp" is HALF batter! What the fudge. It's not jumbo at all. Only half of what is pictured is actually shrimp meat. But then again, I got like 6 of them and shrimp ARE expensive...but it's just misleading. Other than that, taste was same. Filling, but not very healthy.

Yes, it's dirty. But come on, you're searching for large portion Americanized Chinese take out. And Dynasty hits the mark. Go here, you'll be fine. Pros: Large portions, cheap, surprisingly tasty, open late, short walk from Wayne State, they take Credit Cards. Cons: none.

I love the review that contained the line "you might not get sick". That's always encouraging to read, huh? I used to go here...years ago. Then I got a nasty little case of food poisoning. Never been back since. Last year my friend Charlie kept talking about how "good" Dynasty is. "Ya mean Die-nasty?" I asked, because that's what snide people in the know call it. I told him to go ahead, keep going back but he'd be sorry. He was, and he's never been gone back either. So keep going back but you'll be sorry too one day. It's like a game of Intestinal Russian Roulette.

Pretty sure there might be health violations, and there will most likely be something swimming in your water (in a Styrofoam bowl) but hey, its cheap and quick. Also sometimes they skimp out on the fortune cookies that come with your meal unless you request it. A quick good meal that won't burn a hole in your wallet.

this place is good if you stick a couple of rules, don't get deep fried and don't get sugar in your food. But that's what people like! So don't complain its fatty and salty. I love and live by szechuan tofu and egg drop soup. Best food for a hang over. If you trick them into cooking healthy for you, you can avoid the heart attack and weight gain. My four stars are for consistency and price. There is no decor to speak of. Primarily a carry out place.

Tasty and cheap! Just how I like it. The kung pao shrimp is just spicy enough with crunchy veggies. The crab rangoon is a little sweeter than I generally like but nice and crunchy. Looks like most people take their food to go but my boyfriend was starving so we ate in the restaurant and the chairs are uncomfortable. That's my gripe, so not too bad.

For being a hole in the wall Chinese place, it's pretty good. The general tsao is good, as well as the chicken and broccoli as well as the beef and broccoli (I'm a huge broccoli fan). The wonton soup is the standard fair. Since I've been eating healthier, I have noticed that the breaded chickens (like general tsao and sweet and sour chicken) are a little greasy. And megan t. is right, there food did decline for a while, but it's back up to par now! I've never had an issue with "drunken cockroaches" and almost always see some one cleaning in the restaurant.

I would highly recommend calling your physician to make sure that your tetanus shot is up to date before entering this fine establishment. Ok, ok... I ate there. Well, not there, but I ate the food that was prepared there. It was Sunday and everything else in the area was closed. You don't really want to eat in, or touch anything inside the dining area with bare skin. It's a run of the mill rats nest joint. I was honestly hoping for a pleasant surprise. Maybe it would be authentically delicious food served up in a divey atmosphere.... or maybe it would fall under my beloved "it's so bad it's good" umbrella. It was neither. Ok so I ordered a veggie lo mein. A seemingly simple order. It was bland and was quite frankly the antithesis of extraordinary....and didn't even hit the ordinary mark. Some pea pods, a clump of broccoli, a carrot shaving and possibly a cockroach poo or two. I have not acquired dysentery yet but it hasn't even been 12 hours, so there is still time. If I don't make it - I'd like my Screaming Jay Hawkins cd played at my wake. And each nephew gets an electric guitar. Goodbye cruel world.

We used to call this place DIE-NASTY.... During my dorm days at Wayne State, this place become my go to chinese just because the cafeteria food is terrible and you can never go wrong with fried rice and americanized-way to sweet-over msg-artery clogging-meat. =p That being said. Food here is borderline OK. The quality fluctuates way too much. You might not get sick but you'll hate yourself everytime you finish that box of bad chinese just cause there is nothing else better around.

Horriblely cheap food. Though they do put some effort for presentation. Recipes have far too much sugar than is needed. I.E. there is no more kick in the General chicken from its ginger as it takes the side-line for sugar. Same with the sesame chicken. Try to order savory dishes at this place. Not the sweet dishes. They have all the usual American-'chinese' dishes. Savory dishes are 3-stars. If you are on Wayne State campus and you walk down warren the OTHER way you will find China House at the same price range, but with much better tasting food. I find the quality noticeable; and hearty portions. Though that place, I swear the general chicken is just their sesame chicken with a hint of ginger added.

I've been going to Dynasty since college in the 90's. Best Chinese food in the D, and very authentic. The chefs eat what they cook. May not look appetizing from the outside, but the kitchen rocks. Love the House Special Lo Mein, and the General Tso's Chicken is HUGE! Great value!

  • Dea A.

Eh, this place is OK. I haven't gotten sick yet, so that's a plus. The lo mein wasn't that good, but their sesame chicken was on target. The dumplings are pretty good. Overall, if you want completely unremarkable Chinese food with some fresh vegetables, go here.

It looks like a hole in the wall, but it's the best Chinese in Detroit. Not entirely vegetarian or vegan, but there are a few options. I usually order the szechaun bean curd or the bean curd family style. There was a month or so that the taste declined drastically. I almost gave up and never went back, but the flavor's back and, hopefully here to stay!

Best Chinese in Detroit. Quick, cheap, and the almond chicken rocks. Plus they always give me crunchy noodles and hoisen sauce without looking at me like I am crazy.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
