I have lived in the area for 6 years now. New York Minute remains one of the few choices for any type of Asian food. When I first moved here their food was very acceptable. However every time I try this place it seems to get worse. Leaving the tails on the shrimp in shrimp fried rice? Who does that? Their spring rolls used to be great. Now only fair. The woman who owns the place is ALWAYS nice and helpful. The older gentleman that works there who I believe is the woman's husband is always a sour puss and will charge you for hot mustard. He shouldn't be in the service industry. To sum it up, if you want food in Chinese containers and talk with a very nice lady, go to New York Minute. If they could get their act together, they could own the carry out Chinese food market in North Oakland county.

I want to like this because I think it's a neat story, but tonight I had some Mongolian beef and beef subgum that were almost unidentifiable as beef. It was very tough and clearly not cut the right way. It gets a couple of stars because the sesame chicken was okay and my kids liked the very sticky rice.

I am what you would call a regular. That means we don't typically stray from a diet of sweet & sour chicken, general tso's pork, egg rolls and some lo mein. These are tried and true dishes always served with extra rice (no charge) and moe fortune cookies than you could possibly eat in one sitting!! Four stars for great food that comes with a smile and the family friendly service.

Tried this place for the first time tonight. We are new to the area. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life! Simply unedible; from the egg rolls (burnt) to the beef (grainy, had to spit it out) to a shrimp dish. We had to throw it all away.....

We were hesitate about this place because of the reviews but tried it out for Chinese New Year as my daughter is from China. It was pretty good. Lo Mein was weird, but the general tsao's chicken was like candy. So good! Their egg rolls are loaded with garlic so were very tasty to me, but my husband didn't care for them. Fried rice was just ok. The staff are very friendly and sweet. Not bad for a quick dinner.

Service is a huge thing for me. The woman who owns this place is probably the sweetest woman I've ever encountered. She always remembers me, is always smiling, and last week when I stopped in for hot soup and mentioned I wasn't feeling well, she was genuinely concerned for my well being. On top of that, the food is really good. I like that they have a few dishes that are different from most places and everything is hot, fresh, and made to order!! I order the vegetable chop suey and it's really yummy!!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
