Ladies and gents, I have an announcement to make: Big Boy is NOT just a rocket ship from Austin Powers!!! Yes it's true! On a trip to my girlfriend's home state, we stopped in at this Clarkston Big Boy for breakfast. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted in a warm midwestern way and sat at a table of our choosing. The waitress immediately brought us coffee, and continued to do so until I right near had to beg for her to stop. I'm not addicted. I'M NOT!! Fine, she had to cut me off! : ) The food is pretty standard fare for a diner, with the exception of the potato pancakes, which I had never heard of. My girlfriend, who loves these, grabbed an order. Personally, I couldn't really taste the difference between these and homestyle hash browns, but they are made diffferently. I ordered the Blockbuster Breakfast. This included bacon, eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, toast, and two biscuits. Now, New Yorkers, are you ready for the cost? $10.99 right? WRONG!!! $3.99!!!!!!! Yes FOUR DOLLARS. I'm still having trouble accepting this as fact. The only catch is that it's only available Monday-Friday until 11am. Other times? $5.99. You'd think we'd be delivered a plate of crap right? Also wrong. My eggs were cooked perfectly, the hash browns were piping hot, and the biscuits (served with butter and honey) were toasty warm. The staff were extremely friendly, talkative, and efficient. Our food was delivered in no time. I can't wait to return some time! Though it was a reeeal early flight to get that $3.99 deal...

Friendly staff, great food! Very down to earth staff. The only thing was the big boy was kind of outdated but that's all!

Unfortunately, most of the Big Boy restaurants in the area closed... So now this is the one we had to go to for breakfast. The one down the road on Dixie Highway used to be soooooo much better! The breakfast buffet here was $10.99 and didn't have very much to offer. The eggs were barely edible and the bacon was okay. Sausage gravy was too salty and the biscuits were hard. No sausage patties or links either. I would have given this place 1 star, but the omelet station is decent. You just get the items you want in the omelet off the salad bar, give the employee your plate of goodies, choose you cheese and they bring it to you. Other than the omelet station, the buffet here is pretty much a bust. There are much better restaurants in the area that offer a large breakfast for less money.

I would have scored it higher if I didn't have a bad time today. I ordered the breakfast bar (my favorite on the weekends) but when I went up to get my food the meats were wiped out each time. I chose not to get the rest and wait until they refilled as my husband did because I can't stand too long at times. I over heard others complaining to the waitresses about the same thing so I wasn't the only one. Even though I wanted it I told my waitress to remove the charge from my bill and order just plain eggs bacon and hash browns so we could finish and leave.

Ummm, yuck...... Usually I'm a big fan of Big Boy. We used to go to one near my house when I was a kid and my mom always got the Brawny Lad, which is now my favorite option. Tonight we went after a pistons game and I was more than disappointed. I got the spaghetti with meat sauce - it was pretty gross. Sarah's chicken quesadilla was made with American cheese instead of the usual jack/cheddar/mozzarella mix. Jon's slim Jim was okay, but nothing to write home about. And Danny didn't even finish his fried cheese sticks. What a disappointment. The bathroom. What can I say? There was feces crusted on the back of the toilet and um, someone had their monthly something and left a little sometime behind on the wall, door, toilet seat and TP holder. Yuck. Needless to say, I didn't finish my dinner after that experience. (Yes, I'm sure this is the Clarkston Big Boy - I checked my garmin and the address matches the one here)
