The Sheikh Restaurant Menu

I'm visiting family and needed to feed eight. The owner/manager was very friendly- recommended the party platter (which saved us a bunch of money). Everything about it was delicious and perfectly cooked. My party ran the gamut from picky eaters to buffett professionals, and everyone was satisfied by the meal. I live several states away so I'm pretty bummed that there isn't anything like this place near me.

Consistently good food. The mixed grill gives a taste of the highlights. Fattoush is always flavorful. Hummus and garlic spread are great. This is certainly a local favorite. The baklava is a great end to the meal if you still have room for it.

The first time, food was luke warm. Dessert was horrible. Got food poisoning and was sick off it. I decided to give it another chance by ordering take-out. There was a COCKROACH in it!!! I almost vomited. Explains the food poisoning too. Never go here!!!

The Sheikh restaurant is an awesome little casual middle eastern diner, tucked back in a plaza off ford road. Overall spices, flavorfulness and value are a step up from La Sharm, and though the menu is a bit smaller than the aforementioned, everything on offer is absolutely delicious. The Sheikh's one negative is the pita - it is likely not made in the place, and thus has a slightly 'grocery store' feel to it... a shame, because if they were able to offer fresh pita like la sharm does this would easily be a 5 star restaurant.

This restaurant was near where I used to work, so it was my go-to healthy take out place on my way home. I stopped in last night for the first time in months and had an excellent experience as always. The manager recognized me and was so friendly asking where I've been and what have I been up to. The food quality is always very good, everything is so fresh. The prices have gone up in the last few months, but only on some side orders that I always thought were under-priced, like their yummy rice pilaf. Portions are large. My favorite things to order are any of their wraps (mojadara, tawook, kafta, spicy sausage, falafel, etc) -they are huge, filling and always tasty. The babaganoush is addicting - it comes in a huge to-go container with hot fresh bread that I think can easily feed four people. And as I mentioned the rice pilaf is wonderful - I love the crunchy toasted almonds and parsley on top. All in all, it makes a wonderful inexpensive dinner for my husband and I with leftovers the next day.

This is such a cool mom n pop type establishment that has really good food, great service, and an interesting menu. The flavors are there. The price is right. It's like being welcomed into someone's home for the first time. Take out is a 15 min wait and they have all sorts of choices that will will definitely want to try. Its totally unpretentious but popular among locals. It's hard to find though so when you see Burger King on Ford Rd., you gotta turn. I don't live over there anymore and i'm sorta already missing it.

Huge salads! Great prices, friendly staff and delicious meals. We were bummed that La Shish closed, but this place comes really close in flavor. We've tried out two other Middle Eastern restaurants in the area, but this one has way more flavor and much larger portions. This is a smaller more casual place in a strip mall (with Murray's auto parts). Do not go expecting an upscale dining experience. That said, you will still walk away pleased. Make sure to visit the website to check out the menu.

Not a lot of space to dine in if you have a large group but perfect for 4 or less. Carry out is a great option. We are not Middle Eastern food snobs but this is the only place I will get hummus at when entertaining.

  • Yashi A.

I was very pleased with my order. Hummus with lamb and it came with salad and rice plus some pita bread. The meat was tender and hummus was freshly made. Rice were soft with a nice touch of olive oil and vermicelli. Although the ambiance is average, it's the quality of food that counted for me. They have free wifi for those who dine in alone

Well after visiting the place twice, I can say consistency of quality is spot on. I will proclaim they have the best hummous in the area, out of my Top three "Middle Eastern / Mediterranean" Restaurants. The Shish Tawook is also the best, the chicken breast chunks are grilled perfectly, now the meat grape leaves are good (7 out of 10), but; for (10 out of 10) I would have to say "Canton Pita" has that locked up. The spicy potatoes was something new I tried, and I must say it was a pleasant surprise. The Sheikh is a must go to spot.....good food, and great friendly service.....its a win, win. My over all experience was a 8 out of 10.

I'm an Arab and this is as good as it gets outside of Dearborn. Hummus is amazing. Also really enjoyed their grape leaves

I've eaten here a few times and the food was decent. Unfortunately I was there just a few days ago and ended up getting sick from it. My husband also got sick. We both had almost the exact same meal, shawarma, rice, salad, flatbread pita and fried kibbee. I don't know what it was that caused us to be sick, but because of this experience, we will not be back.

Very nice pleasant service, excellent food, warm fresh bread, our dishes were outstanding, ordered a small hummus... dynamite...

I usually get takeout from here - soups, salads, sometimes entrees. The inside is kind of tired, bare, and not fancy. We went for lunch this week and decided to eat in. The soup was only lukewarm (a personal pet peeve of mine), and lacked flavor. The waitress had the entire restaurant plus counter to take care of, so maybe that is why she never smiled and looked miserable. The fafalel was fresh and crispy, so that was good. Based on today's visit, I think I'm finished going here. Just not a great experience.

A solid 3.5. Quick authentic ME food. Not trying to be fancy or exotic which works just fine. You won't be dissapointed!

I'm torn between 3.5 to 4 stars for this place! All halal food, which is great! We tried The mixed Shawerma platter, hommous, and chicken with lemon sauce! I'm middle eastern so I know what I'm talking about, the Shawerma its the american stove cooked version, not the skewer moist meat version but the seasoning was great, and the bread and garlic dip were yummy, so you can still make a yummy sandwich from that! The lemon chicken on the other hand is really moist and flavourful, the sauce is great we dipped everthing in it! Plates are large, small sized hommous is enormous, we didnt even order salad because the 1 that came with entree was large enough for all 3 adults! Oh they had a great chilli too, with an arabic twist! A huge bonus is the great customer service, so friendly and welcoming. So we'll be definitely back!

The Sheik is my favorite place to eat, hands down. I stop in for lunch twice a week, on average. The soup is exceptional. The cream of broccoli, cream of mushroom and tomato-potato are my favorites. I recommend everything on the menu.

Why is this place so unfriendly? I went in to get a takeout menu and everyone turned around and gave me the stink eye? What was wrong with me wanting a menu? Did you need to reprint more? Even the front door had s sign on it that says "The bathrooms are for customers only"! Great welcome, guys!

Chicken dishes are some of the best I've ever had regardless of price or type of food. It's that good. Hummus and garlic sauce is a must have. Even the rice is awesome. Greek salad good, not great would be my only small complaint. We get this place catered every time we have a party or need food for more than 8 people. Everyone raves about it. Very affordable for what you get.

A group of four shared their platter. The food was delicious and we had plenty , in fact we took enough home for two more people.

Bland, bland, bland food. The salad was okay. One waitress for the whole place. She was very busy so you couldn't blame her for being inattentive.

It occurred to me that I have never written a review for one of my favorite restaurants! How could I ever forget The Sheikh?! My family loves middle eastern food and we've tried plenty in the area, this place tops them all by far. It's a small place kind of hidden off of ford rd. We enjoy dining in but they seem to do a lot of take outs as well. My boyfriend and I usually chow down on their warm pita bread and super delicious and garlicky garlic butter. It's addicting. I almost always order their lamb shawarma. It's amazing. The lamb is seasoned perfectly and the portions are extremely generous. They do their hummus right too. So creamy and flavorful. My dinner comes with choice of soul or salad. I get the salad, it's always fresh and the dressing is delicious. My boyfriend always opts for the lentil soup, he loves it! Really I can't say enough great things about his place. If you're in the mood for middle eastern and you haven't given this place a try, you are missing out!

Sandwiches are a mediocre and the Shawarma sandwiches are dry. Salad used to be much more flavorful now it lacks basic salt among other flavors. However deboned chicken is fantastic and truly the best around. I took stars away for two reasons: they make you pay for garlic when competitors throw it in for free and subbing tabbouli for the fattouch salad cost more money. I was told by the manager woman who is always there that they have to pay for garlic and tabbouleh cost more to make so customer needs to pay. Well we don't - all we do now is drive a mile up the road to get free garlic, no charge for tabbouleh and free salsa with more moist sandwiches. Oh and if you get any meals to go from this restaurant be sure to ask for plasticware and napkins as they do not include them (costs money I know!). I always ask for both before I leave and we got one fork a piece when our 2 meat and chicken dinners clearly needed knives Wonder if the owner realizes it costs them money losing customers over things like this?

The place to go for Middle Eastern in Canton. This place is on par with places in Dearborn... and if you don't know what that means then you better ask somebody. AMBIANCE- located in a strip mall off of Ford Road, this place just a step above hole in the wall. Not too much decoration to speak of, suffice it to say that the food is the draw here, not the decor. Definitely a casual dining joint. SERVICE- servers are friendly and attentive. You can tell by the way they greet their regulars, and make you feel like a regular if you have never been there. I have yet to have bad/slow service in any of my visits. MENU- similar to most Middle Eastern joints you would find in Dearborn. If you're looking for some Middle Eastern cuisine, they are likely to have it on their menu. FOOD- What isn't delicious? We typically get their combo for 2 for up to four people, and still have leftovers. Dig the kafta and the shwarma for sure. Their chicken shwarma sandwiches are also fantastic, and they always seem to put just the right amount of garlic sauce. They typically advertise coupons in your local mail, so save yourself on an already amazing deal of food. OVERALL- this is our go to Middle Eastern joint in Canton. Sure there are other places here in Canton, but this one stands out as the best in my opinion. Check it out. Celebrity Rating- John Malkovich

One of the side effects of working in Dearborn for ten years is that you eat a lot of really good Middle Eastern Food. (Certainly some of the best in the Country.) We actually eat so much, that we tend to shy away from it anywhere else. Needless to say, after the glowing reviews for the Sheikh, my curiosity was sufficiently tweeked enough to see what was going on. The meal started with a well executed humus with a somewhat disappointing pita. Compared to the oven fresh hot puffs of heaven from La Pita in dearborn, these were a bit cold and dense. Next came the Tabouli which was really, really nice and contained a relatively high concentration of scallion. I'd almost dare say it was the best Tabouli I ever had. Finally the piping hot deboned chicken arrived, which came out in a grand serving platter that could have fit a turkey. The chicken was sliced thiner than usual and had a lush garlic lemon butter sauce on top. The smell and taste of the sauce was definitely intoxicating, as it seduced you into excess. I will have to say that the chicken meat was a bit of spongy, which was curious, but not off putting. The rice was just ok. A few other notes. The garlic sauce was very nice, and had a strong fresh lemon note in it. The chicken had a few shreds of the best florescent pink radish i've ever had. Anyway, so how does this place stack up to the Middle Eastern Capitol of Dearborn? Very respectable, I must say.

Apparently I like Middle Eastern food... I didn't Yelp this place before choosing to eat here, but it looks like everyone is in agreement: The Sheikh is the s**t. I got the chicken shwarma, and it came with rice, bread (sorry, I don't know the official terminology, it was flatter than pita), lentil soup, and GARLIC SAUCE. I swooned over this garlicy goodness, and will probably stop at The Sheikh just to order some garlic sauce, it is so good. I am very excited to finally find a restaurant in Canton that I like; right around the corner from my house! And the prices are phenomenal. I got takeout, so I can't comment on the service, but everything was fresh, fast, and tasty. I will definitely be going back (probably tomorrow).

Love this place! Our family of six usually gets a full order de-boned chicken with rice and a fattoush salad. I can fill everyone up for under $25.00. They do carry-out too. Hot delicious bread and garlic sauce are complimentary. This meal is fantastic with lots of grilled chicken breast in an awesome sauce. The rice is always perfectly cooked and comes with pine nuts. I can't feed my whole family for this price anywhere else (except cooking at home ourselves). Eat-in service is always prompt and friendly.

Great food! Lived in Dearborn area for years and it is great to have such good middle eastern food right here in Canton!

The Sheikh has become one of our family favorite restaurants. Hard to believe they're celebrating their fifth anniversary. We remember the first week they opened! From the shawarma to the shish tawook to the deboned chicken to our new favorite, stuffed lamb with homemade yogurt sauce, you'll always find well-prepared, delicious Middle Eastern food. If you come here for dinner, be prepared to take home some leftovers. The portions are big! We love the hot fresh pita, and always debate whether to order hummus, even though we know our dinner entrees will have plenty of food. Service is quick, and the staff is super-friendly.

Fresh baked pita. It's fluffy. Warm. NOT store bought, cut up in a baggie blah pita! It should get 4+ stars just for that alone. At this point, I may be a bit of a Middle Eastern food snob. When I get the craving, I have to decide between the small place in Belleville where our drive is shorter but the pita is not as good, vs driving all the way to Canton just for their fluffy pita. They have a pretty decent menu with all of the staples. Tony and I usually always order the hummus with chicken appetizer with some garlic sauce on the side. This in itself is practically a meal for the two of us. I've had a couple different items (shwarma, falafel, the usual) and have never been dissapointed. They seem to be a primarily carry-out establishment, every time we have gone they only have 1 or 2 tables in the whole place. I always try to make room for baklava because it's my fave!

Stopped in again today for takeout. Better baked pitas are now the thing here, no more bad baggies of grocery store pita. Food was very fresh and tasty. It gets an extra star. Man this shish kafta is perfect, super meaty and flavorful. Three humungous pieces with grilled veggies, pickles, pink radishes, pitas with tomatoes, onion and spices and super good almond and vermicelli filled rice. The garlic sauce is zippy and powerful. The salad is crispy and nice with the dressing. The order of hummus is a big box, all creamy and red dusted, I did have to add a small olive oil drizzle but no worries as that is just my thing. Lots of baked pitas. Plenty for the two of us and leftovers. Cheap and happy. Very good indeed and oh so close by for me. I will be back.

First experience with middle-eastern food. They have delicious food, large portions, and a nice atmosphere. Service is hit or miss, I've had good and bad experiences but I'll disregard that due to the absolutely delicious food they serve. One of my favorite go-to's when I'm craving some middle-eastern cuisine!

We discovered this restaurant about a year ago. We've have dined in a couple of times, and also order carryout from time to time. Our favorite is the Sheikh platter. You get a wide variety of middle eastern cuisine, pita, hummus and we usually get the fatoush salad (instead of the french fries.) Staff is always very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

I've eaten here a few times. The food is great, the difference between this place and other middle eastern food places is the outrageous price! Not a place I'd recommend because they have the same quality food other places but this place is one of the most expensive. Also, portions aren't as big as other middle eastern restaurants.
