I hate writing reviews with one star. It takes a lot for me to feel a business is deserving of so little but after my recent experiences with Palermo's, I stand firm with my decision to do so. First of all let me say my family and I love our Friday night pizza delivery. After a long week we treat ourselves to pizza, pajamas and movies. We tend to usually stick with Toarmina's but occasionally we like to branch out and try other local businesses. So a few weeks ago we ordered from Palermo's. Delivery of course. Pizza and wings and pop. When the delivery guy showed up he had forgotten our pop. He was great about coming back with the pop we had paid for (as it should be). Fast forward to tonight.... We didn't hold it against Palermo's for the little pop incident last time. Accidents happen, no biggie right? So our 2 pizzas, wings, club sandwich and pops get delivered. Total was about $60.00. We all sit down to our food and my sons tastes the pop and says its gross. I try it and sure enough yuck! I'm fairly certain their fountain pop machine had run out of syrup without them realizing it. I was annoyed but also understand that things happen. I call the restaurant to let them know about their syrup being gone and politely ask that we have fresh ones brought back. The manager tells me "he would if I really wanted him to" but that we are "way out there" and it would be easier just to credit me for next time. Ummmm....what? We are 3 miles away. If that's too far then maybe they should change their delivery zone. I then (still politely) told him no need to credit the account. While in the middle of that sentence we were "disconnected". I say disconnected because I'm still trying to wrap my head around being hung up on! We bought $60 in food and they couldn't bring back the correct drinks we paid for?? I find this unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. With an abundance of pizza joints in the area I believe excellence in customer service is a MUST. Unfortunately for Palermo's, they failed immensely in this category. We will not be giving them another chance. We prefer to spend our money with restaurants that appreciate our business.

Ate dinner here with my wife and daughter. My wife and daughter love the soup and anti-pasta salad. I ordered the pasta with meat sauce and it was very good. I tried a piece of my daughter's pizza and this was very good as well. We have ate here several times and the food is always very good.

I had wanted to try this restaurant for quite awhile and I am glad we did! We came yesterday (Friday) at baout 5:30 and were seated quickly. The restaurant doesn't appear to be too big and we sat at booth adjacent to the bar... They have a really nice menu with a variety of options... Pizza (no duh), pasta, a lot of sandwiches, burgers, salads, and appetizers. We ended up just splitting a large pizza. Half meat lovers for my husband. I don't like too much meat on my pizza, so I didn't have any, but it appeared to have bacon, ham, pepperoni, and sausage. I had margarita pizza with basiil and tomatoes. It was good, not the best I had, but there was a lot of basil and large slices of tomatoes. I think my hangup was the the tomatoes weren't exactly ripe enough. The sauce was very good and the crust was perfect. Not to thick, not too thin. Prices were reasonable. Service was good. I'd come back!

This place won't tickle your twat, but it will give you nice fresh food for a good price. Plus, its family owned which is nice, and probably a contributing reason they won't tickle your twat. Locals like the pizza. Bad location in a sideways strip mall.

We were visiting from out of town and found this fantastic place. The pizza was amazing and the staff was super nice and made us feel like home. We will be back next time we need to go to ikea.

Since moving to Canton a few years ago this place has become our standard spot to satisfy our pizza cravings. My favorite is the traditional cheese and pepperoni - I love the pools of hot grease shimmering on top of the cheese when it's fresh out of the oven. Having said that, be warned that the leftovers aren't as good as some other places, and if you do attempt leftovers, for goodness sakes, throw them in the oven (i.e. Do not microwave). Usually not a problem for us...we rarely have leftovers! Salads are pretty tasty and pasta dishes get good reviews by others. I can't bring myself to order anything other than pizza personally. Go at lunch time and you will score on two great lunch deals: salad and personal size pizza or salad, soup and bread stick (which are super yummy with lots of butter and parm cheese). You will wonder how they stay in business as there is never a lunch crowd. But go for dinner on the weekend and you might have a wait. It really doesn't matter when you go, just go if you're in the mood for some old school pizza - the kind that takes a little longer to make but you know it's going to be fresh and delicious when it arrives at the table.

Went here for lunch. Ordered the lunch special, salad and personal pizza. The service was quick and friendly. The food was flavorful and enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a traditional pizza parlor.

We had the tossed salad and Hawaiian pizza from here. Both were really good! Everything seemed pretty fresh. The greek salad dressing had chunks of feta cheese in it, which was awesome! The round pizza crust had just a slight crunch on the the outside but was soft on the inside. We have only had carry out, so I can't say anything about the atmosphere or wait service.

I have been to the restaurant in the past so I decided to try the Pizza. I also ordered Palermo's pizza because it was ranked as the best in Canton. The Pizza was good. I would not say it was the best but it is probably one of the best in Canton. There was not too much sauce and the pizza was tasty. I also had wings. The wings were ok. I would order from here but it did not blow me away. Eat in pizza is probably better I would imagine.

I've had a review removed here before, so I don't know if this will remain accessible, but I'll try again. I'm not sure why. This restaurant has a lot of positives, including diversity of the menu. But I advise that you only order carry-out or dine in due to their lack of attention to detail. Some of the food is very palatable and they are in my neighborhood. I order in frequently, so I have given this place multiple chances to get it right. The consistent issue is lack of attention to detail. For example, I specifically ordered fettucine alfredo and was charged for and delivered chicken fettucine alfredo. In the same order, I asked for a mushroom and swiss burger with only mushroom and swiss. It arrived loaded with pickles, tomatoes and onions. In the past, there have been several issues with delivery. The manager is very defensive and does not want to listen to any issues regarding orders to improve service. Evidently, he also is a cook, so he doesn't have time to deal with customer issues. This is a long established business in the Canton area. As the manager was quick to tell me, "We've been in business for 34 years, so we must be doing something right". I believe this restaurant is capable of good quality, but they need better quality control. Do yourself a favor. Stop by or order carry-out. Don't risk delivery.

Been going here for at least 5 years now. The sauce here is really good and everything you order tastes great. I have tried several dishes I haven't had anything bad yet! The cheese bread is out of this world.

Since "meh" is so overused, I'll say this place is blah. It's not horrible or super gross, but there is nothing on the menu that doesn't taste like it was rolled right off the Sysco truck and heated in the microwave. The food reminds me of Fazoli's or Sbarro. If you want to take your grandma someplace that is consistently just ok, then this place is just fine. If you prefer some good recipes and fresh food, keep looking.

Every time we go here we wonder why we don't come more often! We've been semi-regulars for the last 10 years (had our rehearsal dinner in the side room), and the pizza has been consistently the same... which is great. The crust is puffy at the edges and perfectly cooked underneath. Toppings are fresh. Sauce is perfect combination of savory and sweet. In all our time there we've never gotten anything other than the pizza (usually the special with bacon instead of ham), breadsticks (which are just big hotdog buns - not recommended), cheese bread (ooh I just drooled a little), and pitchers of beer. Spicy pepperoni (specify on top of the cheese) is the best topping - they curl up and give you that little fairy cup of pork grease deliciousness...

had not visited in 18 years. and now i know why. friend wanted to lunch here, so i agreed thinking it had to be better than i had remembered so long ago. No... we both ordered salads; mine a fried chik salad. the lettuce is just iceberg, no romaine. the chicken had been pounded into a size one would expect, but it was only about a 1/4 inch thick, dry and actually brittle. did not think the abundance of black and green olives were a good fit for this type of salad; and way too many pepperoncini, maybe 5. thought it odd the grape tomatoes were cut in half and placed cut side down. maybe trying to give the illusion of more tomatoes than were there. so the visit quite disappointing, and know never to return. really needed to be served in a wider rimmed bowl, all tended to just fall off the edge. prices seemed too steep for this quality of food.

First time I went with my mom for pizza. I swear it's a grocery store canned sauce they use and canned toppings. (i.e. mushrooms, etc) The crust was okay - better than the doughy-bread-y ones I usually find with Michigan pizzas. I gave the place a second try with my husband - ordered the veal parm - AWFUL. (FYI: No picatas/marsalas sauces) The waitstaff was "ok" but absolutely will not go back again.

Palermo makes one of the few pizzas we can eat! The crust is substantial yet not "gloppy" and half-baked like others--I still don't know how they get the crust so crispy. We also order it with our usual toppings of grilled chicken, tomato and (sometimes) onion, and with their cheese, we can eat plenty without it bothering us. The other entrees are pretty good, but I would not say "gourmet." It's a good family-style Italian restaurant that also happens to be one of the best pizza places in the metro area.

Palermo has the best pizza in Canton and they are always consistent. I love the crispy crust on the traditional round pizza. The cheese is authentic and the sauce is perfectly spiced and reminds me of good pizza I had when I was a kid, before the days of hot and ready blah yuck. Palermo is a plain atmosphere, old-school type of dine in pizzeria and we love going there with the kids as is (the place around the corner is a bit pricier, fancier, and doesn't welcome "bum wear" whatever that is!")

Palermo has me on the fence. I've had the pizza and I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Lansing and the way they did their handmade supreme pizza's. Loaded, tasty, and well worth it. More than you can eat. It might be some of the best pizza in the local area. On the other hand - I had a regular dish there one time and was not wowed by any stretch. It was (my favorite I admit) Veal Parmigian. The dish had very processed and pre-made feel to me. The Veal was without a doubt a frozen patty that was store bought. The spaghetti lackluster and barely cooked appropriately. It was all lumped in a dish with a bunch of cheese and marinara draped on top of it. The service size - well - it was one of those situations where you start saying out loud "pass the bread" and save for the mound of cheese and marinara - there was little substance to the dish. So in retrospect - it is really one of the reasons I have hesitated to frequent this place much beyond a simple pizza order. In fact - many people I know only go here for the pizza....... The staff are pleasant and there has never been an issue in the regard. But, the restaurant does have a bit of a lackluster feel to it and I wouldn't regard it as inspiring in décor or setup. Overall - I find good and bad. I wouldn't oppose anyone eating here - just know it is what it is. It certainly does not get much beyond a 3 star for me personally - since it claims it is a restaurant, but really seems to be only good at being a pizzeria.

I wrote a pretty negative review back last year after I'd eaten a pasta dinner there. My daughter wanted to go there for pizza and I was hesitant. But we had a fantastic pizza. Those of our group who had pasta were less than impressed. But I'd definitely go back for pizza again, which remind me of New York pizza, with hot oil on top. Yum!

Palmero had been recommended to my husband several times before we finally went. YUM! The atmosphere was friendly and casual. The staff seemed to be familiar with a lot of the customers, but not any less attentive to our needs either. The pizza was excellent.. I love the cheese and it actually reminded me of my favorite cheesy pizza ever back in Germany. Thanks, Palmero - we'll be back!

Great pizza - salads are huge and the Greek dressing is the best I have tasted. Ranch dressing is good with the breadsticks. Nice atmosphere. Take out is quick good parking.

I have been going to Palermo for years, it was a particular fave of my high school best friend. My father is a fan of the pizza and my mom likes the pasta. My husband who is a gigantic pizza snob believes this is the best pizza outside of his beloved Toledo places Ginos and Vitos. I actually enjoy the pizza here quite a bit, even though I am not a huge 'za fan as a general rule. I do like it but I am so incredibly picky it is a rare thing for me to eat. My favorite here hands down is the the Meat Lover. The meat here is incredibly good, perfectly cooked and layered onto the pie. I have had single toppings and veggie combos here too and have never been disappointed. I would however avoid the Grilled Chicken Alfredo with its jarred sauce flavor. It's popular here but I find it a gooey heavy flop. The pasta is nice as well, again avoid the alfredo. The optional meatballs are good but the Italian sausage is even better. It's definitely home style type pasta. I like the cheese tortellini with marinara sauce but everyone else seems to stick with spaghetti, especially with the baked mozzarella option. I on very rare occasion will have some aglio olio with the mushroom sauce option but I have to be in the mood for it, it is a bit oily for my stomach and unless you like that sort of thing I would not recommend it. The salads are large. I like the antipasto a lot as well as the Greek. Always fresh and good. The antipasto is a good option for meat lovers, the Greek is full of nice veggies and zesty dressing. The side salads are basic but happy. I usually get greek, italian or olive oil and vinegar dressing, always get it on the side if you want to avoid too much as they have a heavy hand with it. I have never tried the soups, but the minestrone is a favorite of a friend of mine. Sandwiches here are decent. The only one I have gotten personally is the Italian sausage with the optional peppers and onions and it was a delight. Friends have been quite happy with other options but frankly I stick to pizza or pasta, I am a firm believer in eating specialties of the house when faced with a choice. If you are looking for a good pizza, this is top notch. The extra large with a big salad (they feature coupons for this deal regularly) can easily feed five or six people and that is a cheap meal for a crowd.

Palermo is a great local Italian Restaurant. The Pizza is great and was voted best in Canton. Other than that it is a typical Italian Restaurant with good salads, bread sticks and Cheese bread. When I don't get Pizza the Chicken Parmesan is Delicious. It comes with spaghetti with great sauce. The cannoli here is good also and was Voted 3rd by the Detroit News. They always have friendly service and is always clean. One of the best places to eat in Canton.

Long story short: Great food, great pizza, ambiance is bleh. Short story long: I was first introduced to Palermo's 19 years ago while working at a nearby donut shop. The bakers there would get Palermo's pizza once a week, and it was awesome. Fast forward 18.5 years. I've been driving past this place forever, trying to remember to consider it when I was hungry. Finally convincing the wife to allow me to order a take out pizza from here was a big feat, considering she had never been. Worst. mistake. ever. I have never been in a fight with a pizza driver, but after waiting for 90 minutes and talking to him *several* times on his cell phone to get to my easily found home, he had the audacity to blame me for the super cold pizza. This may have been my last interaction with Palermo's. Jerk. Fast forward 3 months later. A good couple of friends told us that they actually had their rehearsal dinner at the restaurant, and convinced us to have another go at it. I'm delighted they did. The pizzas were as superb as I had remembered, wine by the carafe, and excellent service. The decor isn't worth writing home about, but the food makes up for it. I think I may order one again tonight and take a picture for yelp. So in the end, this may be the best pizza in town. As long as they fired the jerky delivery guy, you will enjoy your experience. Update after last night: Same dude delivering pizza, had to call for directions again even though I gave them with my order, but pizza got to me nice and fast this time. --jr

Awesome pizzeria. tried "The Works". the pizza was loaded with meat. The extra large pizza was a perfect deal. Everybody who tried it said they thought this was the pizza in the area. I think the pricing here was very reasonable.

This would be a 5 star, but nothing compares to Chicago style pizza for me! :) I got a sausage and mushroom pizza and it was pretty good! They are not skimpy with the toppings, every bite had sausage and mushrooms. No need to make sure every slice has a certain amount of mushrooms or sausages, it's all over the place (i'm sure you have been guilty of stealing a topping because your slice is lacking ... hehe) *note* as for the leftovers ... this does not microwave well bc it's pretty soggy, so probably should put this baby in the oven.

Classic mom and pops Italian eatery with great pizza and good family and great friends. I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't eaten there. The pizza is amazing a recomend the "Super" which is a pizza with everything on it!!! It's delicious

It pains me to write this review. This is a local institution that is beloved by generations of Cantonians, and well known for their take on pizza. This restaurant is a cozy, if spartan space that always seems to have large groups of happy people munching away. Unfortunately, for us, something went very wrong. Our meal actually started out promising, with a very nice homemade Italian wedding soup, which was flavorful and piping hot. Next came out a couple bread sticks that had a nice crust with soft center. (Reminiscent of Italian Garden.) But then we got the monstrosity called the chicken salad. For 10 dollars, you get 2 pounds of iceberg lettuce topped with some edible, but lifeless sliced reheated chicken breast and a few other random toppings. Then there was the dressing, which is definitely cheap, mass market GFS style sauce, and although we are not super picky about dressing, we didn't touch the stuff. We also got a 10 dollar order of fettucini with meat sauce, and found it very very sweet, and bit thin and one dimensional. (Perhaps pizza sauce?) It was so sweet, that my wife had to add salt to cut it, and then only managed a few bites. The pasta also lacked any flavor, which to me means they are cooking it in unsalted water... About the pizza, I remember it being fine, but not particularly outstanding, and particularly bad when delivered. My wife and I would rather get Jet's square deep dish any day of the week, if that says anything. So maybe it was the way we ordered, or this particular day, or the lake of slush that soaked my shoe in the parking lot, but we were not happy. This was a definitely a two star meal, with one extra for pizza legacy, but we will be very reluctant to ever go back...

Atmosphere is decent, wait staff was friendly and kids were welcome. We really liked the breadsticks, but the ranch dressing was gross and I can't give any pizza place more than a few stars that uses CANNED mushrooms. They even have a mushroom sauce, so what gives? I won't be back.

We've been going here for years...I guess you could say our kids grew up on Palermo's! The pizza is very good--eat in or delivery. We do make it a point to ask for fresh mushrooms, since they use canned mushrooms if you don't ask. Surprising for an Italian restaurant, but I love their Greek salad! I've had their grilled chicken salad many times and enjoyed it (along with their soft bread sticks, which everyone in the family loves. Hint: mix a little ranch into the marinara for dipping the breadsticks...yummm!). Their lasagna is very good as are many of their other pasta dishes. Their meatballs are also very tasty! We eat out more frequently than most, and I'd definitely give them a high rating for consistency. The service is excellent too...otherwise we wouldn't have continued to go back all these years.

Can you say "Chef Boyardee"? We had a coupon for buy 1 entree, get 1 half off so we decided to try this place when in the area -- the name "Palermos" sounded like "Sopranos", so we said let's go! Our waiter said it best, "Nothing is made fresh at this place" with a slight laugh, when asked if the veal or chicken parmesean is made fresh. Their food tastes like reheated previously frozen "warehouse club" fodder, so he was right! Plenty of cheese and canned tomato sauce to cover the mediocre food though. The meal started with a warm salad -- I don't know how they did that, but that was the first time somebody ever messed up iceberg lettuce and dressing! The garlic bread was made from SESAME SEED rolls with a little butter, garlic, and a bunch of paprika for color (Yuck - no, double Yuck!). My kids had a kids pizza, but they didn't eat any of it, nor the garlic bread, nor the spaghetti sides -- all things they typically gobble up. The waiter was good and attentive -- our drinks were always filled. The place had a nice decor. Bill was $34 before tip -- I could have stayed home and would have enjoyed one of those "in pan" skillet meals for $5 alot more than this place. Save your money and get some real italian somewhere else.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
