Small sized restaurant with lot to offer when it comes to great meals. I really like their menu and lunch specials here. Last visit, I got the shrimp bisque and Lobster salad BLT sandwich. Both were very good! You get complimentary bread and butter with your meal and it's really good bread. The prices weren't that bad for a seafood restaurant in Birmingham. My lunch and soup came to around $15. Most meals were around $10 to $20 for lunch. They have outdoor seating. Service is good and the ambience is cozy.

I love this place...fresh, interesting and reliably good. If you go, do not miss the cucumber dill soup, buffalo shrimp and dark chocolate sea salt creme brulee. I also adore the coleslaw with blue cheese. Of course, the main dishes are awesome too. I've never had anything bad. Service is always terrific, wait staff are friendly and welcoming. Bar staff is awesome. There are "regulars" here for a reason and I want to be one!

We go to dinner in Birmingham all the time and we usually skip Streetside because we thought they still had the same boring menu that they had for years. Well, last night, we decided to give it another chance. We called ahead and the hostess said it would be a 30 minute wait but they wont take reservations or call aheads. We walked in ten minutes later, and we were seated right away. (Don't listen to the hostess). Anyway, our waiter (Sorry I forgot his name) was excellent and so was the food. I had the Kale Salad with crispy calmari and my husband had the perch. We both had a glass of wine. Both were very good and the prices were reasonable for a Saturday night in Birmingham. Streetside is definitely on my list again!

First of all, the bread. My goodness. Not since the now defunct EG Nicks, has a restaurant nailed the hot, buttery bread basket as well as Streetside. Get it. We thoroughly enjoyed our seared tuna and salmon appetizers and house salads. Leafy and abundant greens. Our waiter, I think his name was Jordan was excellent. I could have mistaken him for a sommelier. He took pride in the restaurants' wine and food and was familiar with the intricacies and nuances of each dish.

Only went here once so far, but I would go back for sure. The greek calamari was the best I've ever had. I also enjoyed the buffalo shrimp. The scallops I ordered for my entree were a little bland, but good. My friend got the tuna steak and loved it. This place is tiny so be prepared to wait on a Fri or Sat night for a table or try to grab a stool at the bar. Worth the wait though.

went here for lunch and almost had the place to ourselves - had a great table inside but the windows/doors were totally open so felt like outside but not on a busy birmingham road. service was great, full bar, great drinnks and of course the fish was very fresh. would recommend for lunch. reasonable prices for seafood in bham.

The hostess was wonderful. She sat us even though our whole party wasn't there yet. Our waitress seemed like she didn't really care much about us. I caught her talking to another waitress about our table because they were staring right at us. Pretty rude, we hadn't even ordered anything but drinks at that point. We started off with crab cakes which were great but only came with 2 cakes not even 2" in diameter. For $12 you figure you would get 2 decent sized cakes. Another person at our table ordered the house salad which looked fantastic, although I didn't taste it. The bread they start you out with taste like frozen dinner rolls brushed with butter and parmesan. Nothing to write home about. For main course I ordered the lobster roll with fries and house made caramelized onion ketchup. This was meh. The lobster salad in the roll was too salty, had too much mayo, not enough lemon juice and desperately needed something crunchy like minced red onion or green pepper. The bun was a bit too buttery although I liked that it was a brioche bun, but a brioche bun is already rich, why add too much butter?. The fries is where I was seriously disappointed.. When you are charging $25 for a sandwich and fries you would expect everything to be "on the next level" when it comes to flavors and presentation. The fries were not even cut in house. I could have gone to McDonald's and they would have had the same fries. Lets be honest, if you're taking the time to make your own in house ketchup you better take the time to make some kick butt fries. The ketchup was good. A little potent so I couldn't put much on the fries but it was good. Another person at our table had the pepper crusted filet. The presentation was nice, although 2 stalks of asparagus hardly counts as a side of vegetables. The port wine sauce over the filet was excellent probably the best thing I tasted from an entree at our table. The mashed potatoes weren't anything special, very bland. I could make better ones than that. We also had a salmon special at our table, that I didn't try but got the "meh" reaction. We didn't order dessert because we were so full and semi disappointed. Overall I didn't feel like the food matched the price points. So I'm concluding this by saying I won't be coming back.

Been here a few times. It has yet to disappoint. Food has always been good and its a great place to stop for drinks. Its on the smaller side but it always seems to be busy. The wall menus is always filled with specials with a wine pairing! Bonus. Its in the heart of downtown birmingham so you can get a good vibe of the town here.

Without question one of the places to see and be seen in the nicer burbs of Detroit. Came in here last night and can't really recommend anything except the Ahi. Oysters, Halibut Steak and buffalo shrimp were all average to mediocre, but the Ahi is worth stopping in for. However, if you're old, divorced and/or talk about your country club membership, you will love this place.

This place makes me wish I lived next to the ocean. The walls are adorned with fish in various forms, as a pisces constellation, a metal fish hanging from the sky lit ceiling, a photo of a fish freshly caught by a kid half the fish's size. Streetside is a reminder that there's a fish culture out there in ocean side towns enjoying fresh fish in ways I never thought possible. And although there's nothing better than fish caught moments before you eat it, Streetside makes up for the geographical handicap quite well. They are serious about fish here, folks. For my entree I ordered the Whitefish with Lump Crab. The dish came as a very generous portion of whitefish, paired with pan fried potatoes and asparagus. The fish was deliciously light and fluffy and the lump crab sauce on top was just enough flavor as to not overpower the fish but added a subtle richness. I was very satisfied with my dish, every bite was delicious. I could have done without the pan fried potatoes though. I felt they took away from the dish. It was the one part of the dish that took it down from a 5 star rating. It seemed strange to put greasy diner-esque potatoes with such a lavish dish. It was a party crasher so to speak. Just not welcome. I say this, and I LOVE potatoes. But they have their place and it's not on my plate of whitefish and lump crab, it should have saved itself for my eggs and toast...it was just too heavy of a pairing. The wine list is long and diverse enough to suit most any wine snob's tastes. I got the Gascon Malbec and was very pleased. For dessert: the Bourbon Walnut Pie, topped with fresh whipped cream. This dessert nearly stole the whole show. It was that "one upper" friend that everyone has. Just when you think you have this excellent meal, it comes in and tops it. I'm talking pure dessert bliss! Try it. You won't be sorry you did.

I really do think that Streetside is the best seafood in Detroit. We don't have much access to fresh fish around here so it seems like the fish selections at restaurants usually consist of salmon...which gets SO boring! Streetside has lots of different kinds of fish and they prepare it all perfectly! I don't think I've ever had a bad meal at Streetside. I would go there more often if they were a little cheaper and didn't have a ridiculous wait every time I try to go. So, lets start off with the bread. WOW! It may be the best bread around...warm with parmesan cheese and butter, yum! It comes to every table, so no worries- you will be able to try it! For the appetizers, I've had the calamari with feta and peppers which is always delicious. I've also had the seared rare tuna appetizer which is super tasty as well. I remember having a fried oyster appetizer with sea beans as well, it was a special and it was amazing! For my entrees I always order one of the specials. They always sound so good that I cannot pass them up and I just forget about the regular menu. I can't remember exactly what they were, but I can tell you that every single special I have ordered has been amazing. I do remember ordering the soft shell crabs when they were in season (for the really short couple of months they are in season) and they were the best I've ever had! My waitress mentioned that people call ahead asking about the soft shell crabs for months because they wait all year for them! I think it is sometime during the summer. Streetside is a great place to go for a special occasion or just for some really great seafood. I have never been disappointed! Just make sure you are prepared for a wait, or go really early!

Small place with a big flavor and heart! We've gotten lucky every time we've gone and never had more than a 15-minute wait for a table... of course, we've also never gone on a weekend, which might be part of it... Service has always been friendly and attentive, food has yet to disappoint. The Greek Calamari and Char Grilled Sea Scallops are really, really tasty. The highlight of the current menu offering to me is the Nori Dusted #1 Tuna Sashimi. It's served with a bit of seaweed salad, sushi rice and a delightful ponzu sauce. The Seafood Saffron Risotto is a solid 3-out-of-5. I think I'd enjoy it more without the chorizo... not really sure what to suggest in place of it, but something about it kind of marred the dish for me. The bartenders are amazing! They totally indulged our over the top request for a Caipirinha, the national drink of Brazil. Oh. My. God. Perfectly made!

Tonight I stumbled upon this nice little spot in Birmingham, and I will be back. I wouldn't recommend arriving with a party of 5 but for a group of 2 and maybe even 4 this is a great spot. I started off with the bisque of the day (crab and corn bisque). I think of myself as somewhat of a "soupy" and thought this bisque was delicious. The taste was outstanding but my only beef was that lack of lump crab you seem to find 2 or 3 helpings of in most bowls. The crab was mostly shredded and spread throughout. Overall though, I would get it again. Next I went with the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. I really enjoyed the black bean and corn salsa that accompanied them. Here there was no lack of crab, plenty was packed in there with not a lot of filler. I would have to say though, I normally like my crab cakes to have a little more crunch. I was really tempted to order off the menu but the specials of the day looked too good to pass up. I decided to create a hybrid and mix the swordfish with a chipotle corn salsa that was originally being served with the Ono. I really liked the piece of swordfish, thought it was seasoned perfectly and the choice to adjust the side and sauce was the right one. The corn appeared grilled and was shaved off the cob which was a plus. I can't wait to go back and try their AhiTuna. I think this would be a great place to spend an evening with a significant other and enjoy some well prepared seafood and some drinks.

I love this restaurant! It's a little pricier, but worth every cent. The service is outstanding, and they have a great wine list. I was introduced to a white bordeaux by the waiter the last time I was there that was terrific. If you're a raw oyster person, Streetside has a wonderful selection. I prefer west cost oysters and they have them! Mahi mahi tacos top the charts. The atmosphere is buzzing and fun. Crowd changes from a dinner scene to more of a bar scene around 10PM, which I don't prefer, but other than that, I give it an A+.

I have eaten many delicious meals at Streetside, all with great service. But it wasn't until tonight, that I had the privilege of randomly sitting next to chef Mike at the bar, on his day off. And after hearing about his passion and love of food and cooking there, it has gone from a 9.75 to a perfect 10!

i was somewhat disappointed with the overall-ness of my experience here. it's a dark, got that kind of "old-school" feel to it and is very small. it was chock full of suits and very well-dressed, but casually well-dressed folks. felt like i was in one of those "after a trial, have a drink with my fellow lawyer" scenes from law and order. i had the skatefish which with a name like that, should've turned me off but i consider myself adventurous. it wasn't flaky like i expected, but rather mushy and grainy. since it was over 15bucks, i pushed through and ate it because i feel terrible leaving food on a plate for that much money. my wife's dish was much better, the covina. we split a calamari app, which was very good. it wasn't chewy and wasn't drenched in crunchy breading/oil. it was full of tasty olives and feta and pepperoncinis and i could've eaten an entire meal of it. the service was lackluster. we waited very long between each "interlude"...seating to getting water, water to getting drinks, drinks to getting app order, app order to getting food order, etc. And water glasses...never filled without asking. i cannot stand that. i've eaten at much dingier places and had my water glass never drop below lip level. for the price of out meal, i want my water glass incessantly full. but the biggest grip was the douchebag plate remover whom kept trying to remove plates with food still on them without asking, adding a clever douchebaggery quip "alright, who wants the last bite" kind of thing. i tell you who...ME dips**t, because i'm middle class and if i'm blowing this kind of money on food, i'm eating all of it. we're just visiting for a wedding, so of course we won't be back.

Great bread as always. Wonderful service. Great wine and bartender. As another reviewer suggested, the recent menus have not been as good as in the past. A previous order of barbecued scallops was AWFUL, I only tried it as in numerous previous experiences I have never had a bad meal there. Recently went back and the food was good, but not as great as it was in the past. Still a great experience, but not as wonderful as it was in the past. I wonder why, new chef???

I've been hanging out here since mike had hair.... Lol!!!! Foods great!! Drinks are plentiful and unlike other places in Birmingham they are always open! They stay open even if nobody's in there!! or you can pull a Nina and just call and tell them your coming and they won't close!!!

I have been going to Streetside for 10 years at least. I went right before Christmas and it was again a total pleasure. The food is divine, the bartender excellent and the atmosphere is super with a good mixed crowd. They have the best house salad, wonderful bread to die for and the freshest fish served in excellent dishes that are original and not overwhelming. Moderate to high prices but really the best food in the Detroit area.

I thought this would be one of those "can't miss" restaurants since almost everyone's given it a 4 or 5 star review. I think I just ordered the wrong things. I'm often inclined to try specials at restaurants, so I tried the mussels appetizer and lake perch. The mussels were ok -- not as tasty as mussels from belgian restaurants I've been to. The Lake Perch was not what I expected at all. I guess I was expecting a single grilled/broiled filet, however, it came out as small fried, battered pieces of fish. I guess I could have asked what it was like but maybe it'd be helpful if they described their specials a bit more. I didn't really like the bread because of the excess cheese/butter. Is it really so hard just to offer good plain bread? Onto the things I did like about Streetside... the ambiance was great. Not stuffy or pretentious at all. Very cozy and full of character. I didn't have a good experience the first time but I'm willing to give it another shot. I think if you just want good fresh seafood, you might have better luck at Mitchell's.

The patio and decor are great and service was solid but the food was pretty Meh and overpriced for what it was. There are lots of great restaurants in Birmingham and this one is just average.

I've been here more times than I can count and my experience was good every time. The food is delicious no matter what I've ordered, it's always busy so they must be doing something right! I usually sit at the bar, the bartender is friendly and attentive. Parking can be a hassle but that's most places in Birmingham.

Two things keep this from 4 stars: The Bar and the Price. I loved the food. Great job cooking the seafood. Bar: My daquiri and my partners wiskey sour were so weak that we were seriously thinking that they were virgin. They also tasted like they were made from a powered mix. So the bar seems to be the weak link here. Come for the food, avoid the drinks. Price: I disagree with the two $$ rating of this restaurant. For a full evening meal expect the cost to be 40-50 per person or more.

This feels like a local hangout that no one in the place was actually invited to. In a strange way I felt too young to be there, and although I don't like doing math in my head, I'm sure I am closer to 60 than 20.

Met a friend from LA here. It's her favorite restaurant in Birmingham. We had a great meal. Perch, walleye, and fish taco. The finishing touch was the chocolate creme brûlée!!!!! My friend talked us into ordering it. Not my husband and my desert choice. We were very surprised. Best desert ever. We asked to meet the chief because everything was so great. Michael the executive chief came over and was so friendly. Our server Shay was very attentive. We will be back soon.

There's something special about this little seafood bistro in downtown Birmingham. The menu isn't huge, but everything on it is thoughtful, fresh and delicious. Streetside packs up quickly for dinner so I like to take advantage of lunch. The coconut shrimp with apricot marmalade and small house salad - with blue cheese crumbles, bacon crisp lettuce, egg and more - makes for a decadent meal anytime. When you can dine outside and linger over a glass of wine and the Seafood Salad, with its generous helpings of crab, lobster, shrimp, tomatoes and green goddess dressing, you'll feel like you're getting away with something dangerous. Start with the spicy gazpacho and you'll really feel like you're on vacation on the coast. Even the bar here is elegant. It's really a metro Detroit dining treasure and worth the wait. Want to impress a date? This is the place (providing he or she is a seafood fan, of course)

Last time I was here I had the clam chowder and salmon. Clam chowder is hard to mess up. Any chowder is hard to mess up. Salmon is easy to mess up. I was here during the summer time so they had the doors and windows wide open and the patio open. Totally great vibe. I think the owners of this place also own Town Tavern which is also a good spot. Don't bring more than 2 people here. It's not good for large groups.

Great food & excellent service... Enjoyed a first class dining experience :) A little noisy but a cozy little spot that was great for a seafood lover in me... Impressed my date for the night as she had the swordfish & I had the blackened mahi mahi. The calamari appetizer was cooked perfectly. Wine list was great serving some local wines I have visited before... Definitely a spot that I will visit again!

It took me two different trips (and an additional 30 minute wait) to finally get a seat at the bar--but it was worth it. Evidently this is THE place to be in Birmingham. Once I had a spot at the bar the bartender walked me through their specials and paired a couple wines with each course. I had their seafood bisque (not as good as next door), and the salmon (cooked beautifully). I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will be back again...assuming I can find a spot at the bar.

Overall: Absolutely hopping little seafood restaurant. A place to meet and greet, but maybe not so much to eat... We came here on a Saturday night at 8pm, and all 10-ish tables and the entire bar was full, with people waiting on the sides for their turn. They do NOT take reservations, and recommend that you drop by, put your name down, and get a drink at their bar or come back later. Everyone seems to know each other, and all the waitstaff are very friendly. Service and ambiance: 4-5/5. No complaints here. We started off with coconut shrimp and ordered drinks each -- a 2007 Shady Farms semi-dry Riesling and a Cava. Very good choices for them to have on stock, and about $10 each. Beers run about $5, and while they don't have draught beers, there's a fair selection of domestic and imported bottles. As far as I remember, no cocktails. The bread is quite good, warm and unleavened, with a good sprinkling of parmesan cheese. Kind of like eating a large breadstick/soft pretzel. The shrimp were fantastic, and came with a good tamarind/ginger dipping sauce. Intrigued by these appetizers, and with a one hour table wait looming, we stayed at the bar and ordered Greek-style calamari, seared tuna, and the famous crab cakes. No entrees ($15-25), since the appetizers ($10-15) seemed tastier. We were also offered a free sample of the bisque of the day, a creamy Caribbean. Not bad. Unfortunately, here's where things flopped. The seafood quality is definitely not on par with coastal seafood. I wouldn't necessarily expect it to be so, but the crab cakes were too mealy and creamy for my taste. Crab cakes should be delicate and full of meat on the inside, crispy or at least crunchy on the outside. These were neither. The calamari was lukewarm and soft, even though they were deep-fried. This did not pair well with the accompanying feta cheese and olives. Finally, the seared tuna was merely okay. Very thinly sliced, with only three pieces, although the cracked pepper crust was okay. Food: 2-3/5. I would have given it 3-4/5 had I stopped with the shrimp. Maybe if I had ordered something different, but we did order four different appetizers. In summary, very fun place, good for drinks, but some dishes are a little lacking.

Streetside is the kind of place where if you live in Birmingham, it's just a cool, casual neighborhood restaurant. If you don't, it could be thought of as a hole in the wall, hotspot, great place to do dinner and/or snobby Bham hangout. I dig this place because it is small and intimate, the food is great, there's always a lot of regulars livening up the atmosphere and the bartenders are known to encourage a good time. So they're pretty much spot on in all areas. The Roberts Restaurant Group has 2 other properties but this one is detinitely my fav. If you're looking to go, just be prepared to wait because it doesn't take many people to fill it up and if you go for a late night libation, good luck getting a spot at the bar, especially on weekends.

This place is small (I think at capacity they seat around 60) but the atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. The menu is small and we happened to be eating early enough to watch/listen to the wait staff trying the specials so we knew what to pick. The bread sticks were mediocre. If we hadn't had the crab cakes to start, I wouldn't have had much faith in what was to come next.. Our crab cakes were the perfect size for an appetizer (just two, about 3" in diameter) with a fantastic tarter sauce that had a lot of zing to it. My husband opted for the bay scallop pot pie and was quite pleased. It had a biscuit topping and was full of large chunks of seafood. I had the arctic Char with fried capers (yes fried!) and a great citrus cream sauce. It was dreamy. And then...dessert! My husband opted for Ray's ice cream ala mode while I had the key lime pie. As a serious lover of all things sour, I am SUPER picky about my key lime pie and this did not disappoint. It was creamy, thick and wonderfully tart, with just the right amount of house-made whip cream It was sooooooo delicious. Despite the quality of the food, the service was just ok.

Now that I work in downtown Birmingham, I'm tempted to check out some of the restaurants within walking distance. I can't do it that often, or I'd be wasting the money that I'm now making -- the money I so desperately need. But I'm a sucker for what my brother and I affectionately call "a nice sit-down." A nice sit-down is exactly what it sounds like -- a nice meal at a sit-down restaurant. Not fast food. Not carry out. Not cafeteria style. Hence, Streetside. I strolled a lovely, sunny half block in the high-heeled boots that are de rigeur at my new job and got a cute little table for one at Streetside. I only ordered water to drink, since I saw that lunch prices started around $14. My sautéed perch for $15 was actually not that pricey considering I got at least 4 (maybe 5?) pieces of delicious perch, a whole mess of steamed broccoli (if I'm paying for a nice sit-down, I better get my greens), and a very nice portion of wild rice. But wait!!! I haven't told you the best part, yet. Before my meal arrived, I was presented with a chic metal basket lined with paper and filled with two plump breadsticks. This was a surprise, since I don't usually expect a bread basket at lunch. Now, I was feeling conflicted, because I've been trying to lose weight, so I should probably eschew bread. But, beside the fact that I wanted to get my $15 worth out of this meal -- these breadsticks were brushed with butter and sprinkled with parmesan cheese!! They tasted like upscale Crazy Bread!!! Delicious. I can't go back often unless I get an insane raise, but I think I'll be hitting up Streetside for a Crazy Bread-accompanied lunch at least once a month for sure.

A friend and I tried Streetside for dinner on a Wednesday night. The restaurant is intimate yet bustling, and the staff was great. The food, however, was regrettably, forgetful. The scallops were overcooked and drowning in pesto sauce, and one of their specialties, whitefish with crabmeat, was bland. I always love to find a solid seafood joint, but this is not it. I am new to Oakland County and excited to explore new restaurants, but I don't think Streetside will get a return visit anytime soon.

This is our favorite seafood restaurant in the metro detroit area. We've never had a dish we didn't like. Their constantly rotating specials are the attraction, and we've had excellent dishes such as skate wing, monkfish, and halibut cheek. Their specials are always paired with tasty and interesting garnishes and side items. I don't think we've ever had the same preparation twice. The calamari is awesome and it's always tough choosing between that and the lobster cakes as an appetizer. Their house salad is one of the best we've had, and the walnut bourbon pie is unbelievable. They don't take reservations, so expect to wait 15 minutes to an hour or more on busy nights. Service is always excellent, but understandably slows on busier nights.

If a midnight bottle of wine and three appetizers is in your immediate future, this place could be calling your name. During a very impromptu night with some friends, we tried to find a place in downtown Birmingham for a late night last round of drinks... or a few last round of drinks. I only had one stipulation when looking for a final destination - it couldn't be super smokey (bless you, May 1). After being bounced by a brash and slinky man in a turtleneck from another location down the street because of a not-so-apparent private party, we trotted down to Streetside and was welcomed immediately. I didn't eat a lot, but the greek-style calamari was delicious. So was the bottle of Charronday we enjoyed, but I couldn't tell you which we selected. Our server was quick and fun, and was really nice enough to give us a fair heads up that the kitchen was closing (so we could get our order in).

Sunday evening , We both worked that day and did not want to cook. So we headed for a quick stop at Somerset Collection.....It was not quick..but I digress..when done we were really hungry ! Rather then back to Rochester or the wandering masses in Royal Oak we thought let's see what was open in Birmingham. A quick cruise through town and we found a parking spot just down from Streetside. There was an open table near the door and several in back. So we perched on the high top by the door for some people watching. A couple glasses of BearBoat pinot noir and life was getting a little better. Our first time there and the menu and specials were looking very good. Now the reason for the missing star. They were out of over half the specials and several of the items on the regular menu. The waiter explained they had a busy weekend and do not get fish deliveries on Sunday ?? Ok ..but your a SEAFOOD restaurant ! We started off with a appetizer of coconut shrimp, very good and a bowl of tortilla soup, also very good. We were teased by the now not available specials so we chose the Mahi Mahi Tacos... again, sorry we are out of Mahi Mahi... But he then offered to make them with Salmon.. They were very good and I am guessing the kitchen over compensated because of being out of everything else. We got 3 huge pieces in the soft tacos. Very tasty... The service was excellent . The only food item they need to step it up a bit on was the bread-sticks. Very bland, not up to the rest of the food. I have had better from the Meijers frozen food section. We will give them a try again when they hopefully have a stocked kitchen.

We waiting 50 min for a table on a Thursday night, so we were expecting something good! This restaurant is very small and super crowded, but had a cool feel about it. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table and the calamari appetizer which was very tasty with the feta cheese, and hot peppers. The rolls they bring to the table are so delicious and coated with parmesean cheese. Our entrees took a little long, which is why they brought us extra bread, but I thought mine was cooked well. I ordered the cordiva special for $29 which came in a balsamic tomato reduction with roasted peppers, mushrooms and polenta. My husband ordered the skatewing which had a beautiful presentation and tasted pretty good. Our friends ordered the perch and the seafood risotto and everyone cleaned their plates. My only gripe was my lonely water glass. Our server was sort of mia all evening and I sat with an empty water glass. That, and another server tried to clear our appetizer plate when there was clearly still food on it. Next time, please ask if you can remove a platter with food on it, before picking it up.

I have been all over the US and Canada. Salmon is my favorite entree. Simon's & Seafort's Saloon in Anchorage, Alaska is the only place that comes close to Streetside Seafood. The salmon is really that good. My friends tell me that there are even better dishes here, but I can't come here and eat anything else. The staff is excellent and very attentive. Mike the bartender is a great guy. This is a very small place - people crowd the small bar area on the weekends drinking or waiting on a table. We always enjoy watching the cougars that frequent the Streetside bar. These are the women who come here to sniff out the wallets of the men who can afford to stay at the nearby Townsend Hotel or wealthy locals- very amusing. It is very common to see a celebrity at Streetside Seafood because of the proximity of the Townsend. Any sports star, musician, or actor coming to Detroit will stay at this hotel. The only possible negative to this restaurant is that it is pretty small - and can be tough to find a table on busier nights. Anyway, great seafood, awesome bread, great experience. Go Here!!!

The Menu is expansive, the wine list more than adequate. The wait if you arrive after 7pm shows you that the locals know this to be a great little restaurant. I recommend going early Friday evening and combining with a movie at one of Birmingham's cinema. Both the fish & seafood are very good at Streetside, As of my last visit they don't take reservations (which is my only complaint) Also for those of you who are wine lovers just up the street about 50 yds on the other side of the street is a great little wine store with very knowledgeable owner & good wines to purchase.

Our first few visits to Streetside were nothing short of outstanding. Liked the atmosphere, loved the food. My usual was the Atlantic Salmon, which came loaded with capers and was one of the most flavorful and enjoyable dishes I'd had the pleasure of ordering. Deb usually chose something different each time but was never disappointed in what she got. One thing we both insisted on was the greek calamari appetizer. We'd never had calamari prepared in that way ... feta, banana ring peppers and grape leaves. It was truly worth each visit just to enjoy that alone. Then we had a couple of pretty mediocre experiences here ... and it did just enough damage to make us avoid it for a while. We were back just recently and were not disappointed, so maybe Streetside is back on our radar. I went again with the salmon and it was a nice cut of fish and cooked perfectly. The capers were smaller and not quite as flavorful ... maybe a little more like a balsamic-type taste now due to the sauce they were in ... but still very good. Deb had an encrusted (parmesan?) chicken dish and it was excellent. Again, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The service was outstanding and when we chose the calamari over the chowder for our appetizer, our waitress sensed our desire to at least try the soup and so she brought us a little sample of it ... thoughtful, and the type of thing that'll bring us back again. The chowder, by the way, was amazing. Less than amazing was the greek calamari that we previously had loved. Just something about the way it was plated and how things on the plate just weren't the same together somehow. Was it the amount of each ingredient? Was something no longer included? We weren't sure. The calamari was cooked nicely but it somehow wasn't the same. Overall, Streetside is a plus in our book ... we'll be back for sure.

Had a great dinner here... I had a lobster tail in a soy broth. It was cooked perfectly. It was served almost like a soup, very Asianesque in style. Far, far better than the seafood joint a block away (Mitchell's). Good service, not stuffy.. didn't have to wait for a table. The atmosphere up front was a little after-work drink crowd, in back was more dining... there were a variety of specials on the chalkboard... the wine menu was fairly extensive.

A hidden gem. Great seafood, good wine, and the feel of a New York restaurant. Some of the best skate I have ever had - bar none. Everything is fresh and the wine selections/recommendations are right on target. It can get very busy and good luck finding a spot at the bar after 5PM. However, the clientele is usually very interesting and eclectic. Portions are reasonable and not overbearing. I suggest soft shell crabs (spring) and whatever is fresh on the seafood list. Great selection of Pinot Noir and Chardonnays.

This is a great place that is consistent in quality. The seafood is great, but my favorite dish has become the pecan-crusted chicken. It is amazing. The soup and bread are also consistently excellent. It's a lively, comfortable place that's not too big and perfect for a small city downtown. The Bearboat Pinor Noir is also a favorite.

I expected more. The set up is cool. I like the atmosphere. The food was just eh. I had the tomato seafood chowder to start and it was just alright. My date and I both had the whitefish topped with lump crab meat and honestly there wasn't much flavor. It wasn't bad tasting. It wasn't good tasting. It was just kinda there. Also, they really skimped on the potatoes and asparagus that came with the whitefish! When I got the bill I was even more disappointed! Definitely not worth the $$$. I almost forgot! I won't say that the staff was rude.... BUT they aren't going to win an congeniality contests anytime soon!

My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day. Even though this place is very crowded and doesn't take reservations, we were seated within 15-20 minutes when we told them we wanted the "first available" seats. This landed us a spot in one of the high tables. We ordered the appetizer (crab cakes) that was recommended by the waitress and were blown away by the quality. We then each ordered our entrees...my husband ordered the John Dory fish, which was served in an excellent sauce. I ordered a white fish which was similar to a bronzino, which was equally excellent.

I definitely love this place! I went for lunch with a friend in this narrow restaurant. To my surprise, the food was good, the staff was friendly, and the environment was casual and discreet. Their lobster salad sandwich and spicy shrimp are excellent! I will definitely be visiting for dinner sometime soon!

I grew up in the Birmingham/Bloomfield Hills area and I only make it home every now and then. For those of you from the West Coast, Birmingham is to Michigan as Palo Alto is to Northern California. Streetside Seafood is one of my absolute favorite places to eat in Birmingham. The seafood is really good and the service is also great. The lines to get a table can be long, but there is usually room to stand or sit at the bar while you wait. The bartenders there make great drinks. Another huge plus for me is that Streetside has a surprisingly deep and interesting wine list for a "mid-priced" (by Bham standards) restaurant -- last time I went I was able to get a few wines that I generally cannot find outside of California and a few other favorites that went well with seafood dishes on the menu.

I have never had a bad meal here. I work two doors down and lunch here is my favorite treat. They are very small and sometimes when a group of us shows up for drinks they warn us that they might have to move us to the bar if gets filled up..so far thats never happened. The waitstaff is a little snotty so they lose one star.

I love this place. If you like calamari and are in for trying it just a little different, try the calamari here. They use pepperocinis, olives, and feta cheese on top of their calamari. SO GOOD! Good wine selection at a decent price. Cozy atmosphere. I have only been here in the afternoon so don't know how it gets at night. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

I had been here before for drinks but never ordered anything off the menu. Went here for Mother's day and was surprised at the ease to get in here. Given the smallish size, we didn't wait long. A nice touch was that the host offered to take our cell phone info and call us when a table was ready so we could walk around downtown while we waited. Since this place is owned by the same people who own Town Tavern in Royal Oak and the Beverly Hills Grill, you should know the food is going to be great. Same bread that I love too. Everything I tasted here was so fresh and well prepared. The wine that was recommended was perfect too and went really well with the fish I had. The outside patio is always packed in the summer and service is really great here too. My list of places that I love is getting in the way of new places I have never tried but Streetside is one that I would always come back to again and again.

first of all, let me make this clear: I DO NOT eat seafood (except calamari if it looks like onion rings..), nor am I really sure I will start in the near future, but I had to comment about my new-found obsession. streetside's house salad really is a treat. I wouldn't even refer to it as a precursor to the meal; rather a mini meal that leaves your mouth watering and wanting more. Consisting of mixed greens (duh), hard boiled eggs, bacon bits (not bacos folks), chopped green beans, cucumbers, tomato (no thank you), and onions (also a "no thank you"), they finish it off with a sweet and ever-so tangy mustard vinaigrette that thrusts your taste buds into a state of shock. streetside's calamari is also delish. served "Greek style" with feta and banana peppers then drizzled in a Greek dressing. I personally like to order it well-done due to my fear of knowing what I am actually eating.. Anyway, I highly recommend starting off with the house salad... it will definitely get your motor running..

great service, good atmosphere, good list of specials... this place is a great spot for dinner. i've heard it can get crowded, but we showed up at 7pm (granted, it was a tuesday) and got seated right away (it was my g-f's bday dinner!). the house salad is awesome, and i asked the waiter about the mustard viniagrette (sp?) and he told me that the blue cheese is better with this particular salad so i went that route. and wasn't disappointed! the real bacon, i think, is what makes this salad so good... crunchy and yummy. i was ready to skip dinner and get more bacon :) best fish place in birmingham? i'll have the filet please. ha... i guess that's how i do, once a meat eater, always a meat eater. the filet was awesome... cooked to perfection. there was a woman next to the kitchen who was paying very little attention to her daughter, who tripped one of the waitresses a couple of times and almost made her fall with a tray full of food. ugh... i was so excited... then so disappointed. could you imagine that? a FULL tray of food goes flying?!?! that would've been great! i love people who are oblivious of how big of a nuisance their kids are to everyone else around them. makes for good watchin. and since it was my g-f's bday, we got a free dessert, and we ordered the walnut bourbon pie, which comes with a dab of whipped cream and a side of ice cream and served hot... oh my god... best dessert i've ever had. fareal... if you go, try it.

Ended up here for dinner tonight. Chilled cucumber soup with lump crab as a starter was delicious and refreshing. Exactly what was needed after a scorcher of a day. For the main course, I wanted to combine two halves from each of their specials - creating a halibut and udon noodle entree with pea shoots, bean sprouts, Napa cabbage and a curry cauliflower and butter sauce. Chef Ryan pulled it off with a good deal of panache - halibut was lightly seasoned, perfectly cooked and highlighted the complex flavor in the curry sauce! Chef stopped by the table later and described how he had some fun putting that combination together. Glad Chef Ryan was willing to indulge me with his creativity and culinary skill. Should add, this wasn't my first time here - all visits here are delicious and never had a mediocre meal here. Keep up the epic culinary work!

Went for restaurant week. The food was wonderful and nice size portions. I was disappointed in the service; sat for 15 mins before getting water or ordering a drink, then once we ordered food all three courses came fast and right on top of each other. I like to enjoy a meal and not feel rushed. I will give it another shot for the wonderful food and hope the service improves.

I remember coming here some years ago (~4 years ago) and it was quite good. The food was well done and the seafood tasted fresh. I recently went to the establish just within the last 2 weeks with my family and was incredibly underwhelmed Drinks were so-so. Drinkable, but the balance wasn't really quite there on my old fashioned. The appetizers were decent but nothing standing out. For dinner, I had one of the special fish dishes, which was a fish that has a similar consistency compared to tuna and was also supposed to be similar to the way tuna should be cooked. I ordered the cook to be more medium rare, just because I really was skeptical on just getting it rare with a nice sear as I would usually do with tuna. When the fish came out, I cut in the center to find out it was definitely overcooked to medium...definitely way overdone. The waiter promptly recognized this when I showed him (kudos to him), and took it back immediately. When the fish came back, it was cooked more like how I wanted it originally, but it was definitely still a little cold in the middle, as if it had recently come out of the freezer and it was just finished thawing. Not a great second try. The most astounding part of the entire fish was how incredibly undersalted it was. The flavor almost wasn't even there to appreciate much. Honestly, I did feel a little silly about asking for another dish, so I didn't, though I'm sure it was in my fair right to do so. On top of that, the greens that were accompanying the dish felt a little soggy with a heavy hand of various types of lettuce and julienned carrots in some type f vinaigrette. Regarding the salting of the dishes, my wife's seafood boil also was very undersalted. You would think that when there's really only seafood and seafood broth in a dish, the water boiling should be adequately salted to extract all the flavor, but unfortunately that was far from the dish we received. Given how unsatisfying our meal was, we didn't even bother staying for dessert, which is something I generally get out at restaurants.

Every time I come here I like this place more and more. The food is always phenomenal! I split the blue cheese cole slaw, New England shellfish boil and the shrimp pasta. Everything was delicious, per usual. They start you off with delicious bread (tastes like Little Caesars crazy bread) but don't fill yourself up! I had the shellfish boil a couple years ago and I was so excited they finally brought It back! It's probably my favorite thing on the menu after the spicy buffalo shrimp appetizer. The broth is just perfect! And all the seafood was amazing. The lobster was a little hard to take out but I just made a mess taking it out with my hands with no shame in my game! All the seafood tasted fresh and the corn and potatoes just complete the dish. I asked for them to make the pasta spicy (I love spicy foods) and it was amazing. It had a perfect kick of spice to it and a fresh basil taste to it. And they load it up with a lot of shrimp. They aren't stingy with how much shrimp they put in the pasta! Lastly we ordered dessert. The dark chocolate Creme brûlée with sea salt just makes my heart happy and the walnut bourbon pie is mouthwatering. The portion sizes are perfect and the price isn't so bad considering what you're getting. Only thing I can complain about is how small the restaurant is. I wish it was bigger so I didn't have to always wait so long to get seated and eat their amazing food. Streetside is by far my favorite restaurant in Birmingham and I will definitely keep coming back!

A small restaurant tucked in to one of the many modern built plazas in downtown Birmingham. The front of the restaurant opens up completely allowing guests to enjoy the outside breeze. The menu is small but diverse with an excellent selection of fresh seafood. Although a few items on the menu were out, the staff was quick to make suggestions that helps you make a different choice. High quality fresh seafood is hard to come by in Michigan and it almost makes me happy that the restaurant runs out of certain ingredients throughout the day. This makes it safe to assume that quality seafood is being delivered to it's customers. A bottle of wine, great company, a few orders of appetizers and you easily have one of the best seafood restaurants in Michigan!

High quality food in a trendy upscale atmosphere, expect to spend $100 for a date night for two. Very busy on a Sunday evening with popular outdoor seating area. Server was energetic and engaging. We had a dozen oysters ($34), a martini ($9), tuna tartare ($14), shared the barramundi entree ($27), and Ray's coconut ice cream ($6) for dessert.

We went in today around 730 and received horrible service. When we asked to speak with the manager, heather taylor, we saw her send over a waiter posing as the manager. After telling the waiter we wanted to speak with the manager he insisted he was the manager and ignored us completely. When we left we saw heather pointing at us and talking to the waitress serving us. She was extremely unprofessional and ignored all complaints we had. My friends and I all work retail as store managers so we understand what a bad customer is. We had a simple complaint and it was ignored by the General manager. Normally this place has excellent service and food but we definitely will not be coming back any time soon

I come here every few years, usually per a friends suggestion, and everytime I leave saying " I should really come here more often." Though we waited for quite a while in the cramped bar area for a seat, The hostesses did take our number and offer to call us. The food and above all the service was well worth the wait though, it's no wonder this place is a Birmingham staple.

I haven't been here in a few years, but I bookmarked this restaurant because I miss going! I love that the seating is open air, and I love their scallops. It's a small place, and the seating is slightly cramped but SS reminds me a little of Paris:)

So far the only Bill Roberts restaurants that I found to be subpar. Typical Birmingham fare and guests who care more about being seen than the taste of the food. Case and point the tuna burger was just bland. I was surprised because I have been enjoying his restaurants since moving here last year. Swing and a miss but I am I will try again to ensure my experience was true to form.

They have oysters on the half shell and this time I had one from New Zealand that bested the Maryland and the West Coast oysters on the plate. I also had the tacos which came with a wedge of fish that stretched the soft taco shell. Two glasses of wine set me back $53.00 for lunch. They have street side seating but due to the heat I took it indoors. Our waitress was fun and provided a pleasant atmosphere. Only problem was when I unwrapped my flatware, one fork was soiled......

Here is what makes a really, really good meal for me. *Being shown to our table relatively quickly; *Place quiet enough for me to have a conversation with my husband without having to scream; *Prompt, attentive, friendly service, not cloying, without gimmicks (don't refold my napkin while I'm in the ladies' room, don't speak Italian to me, don't write your name upside down on my table, and most definitely don't try to make me ride a toy horse); *Food so good it's obvious that I can't prepare it in my kitchen. I have to say, Streetside Seafood hit all of these perfectly. We did have a later meal(around 9), but in Birmingham, a late dinner is by no means a guarantee that you will be seated with any sort of promptness. We were immediately shown to a table in the back, and were served by a very friendly polite, professional server. She was thoughtful enough to tell me that the scallops dish that night was about to run out and offer to hold the last plate for me. Anyone who has ever ordered a dish just to be told the restaurant was out of it will appreciate this. The food was absolutely wonderful. Delicious melty crab cakes, wonderful chilled crab-cucumber soup and yes--those SCALLOPS. Maybe one of two or three yummiest plates of seafood I have ever had. They were serves with very smooth, tasty grits (and I don't even like grits!) and some sort of a vegetable melange, and it all went together perfectly. My husband, a Northern Michigan guy, had a plate of fried lake perch and declares it top-notch. The only so-so dish was the key lime pie for desert, but that wouldn't be enough to take away a star. The bill for an appetizer, two soups, two entrees, desert, one glass of Riesling and a soda was about $95--more than fair, considering the experience. Will most definitely return there for dinner at the earliest opportunity.

Hmmm. Not bad. Not excellent either, so with the price tag, Im gonna have to give SS a solid 3. We came to celebrate a "win" at work....it was our first dinner out as a married couple too. So I took a little extra time getting ready and selecting a nice spot to dine. First impression: whoa, looks packed. I hope the waits not too long. By a miracle, we ended up with a decently close (2 blocks away) parking spot and a zero wait for the open-air 2-top. Feng shui wise, it was off. We were one of three 2-tops wedged in this odd space between the doors. Matt was dining al fresco (and commented that the inside reminded him of Gusoline Alley (bahahha)... I was inside, looking out at the sidewalk and patio. Made for great people/yappie dog watching. No draught beers? Hmmm. $7 for a bottle off Founders?! Not surprised, but come on... we each got a beer and ordered 16 oysters in all four varieties. Oh by the way the waiter read the specials and took the orders of us and the couple next to us who apparently knew the chef and sipped champagne. (Were they also celebrating or is this their standard drink..??.) Way to make it an awkward non-double-date. Neat! The oysters were bomb. They did come out at least 10 minutes behind our neighbors oysters (order taken simultaneously), which was slightly annoying. They were fresh as hell, all very unique flavors. We sipped our beers and compared tasting notes. I did have to pour a significant amount of water out of a few them.... The seating is really tight as randoms and waitstaff scurried between our tables. The accoutrements for the oysters were limited. Shallot/vinegar did NOT belong on the oysters. We mulled the specials (only 1 out of 3 remained, but it was 8:15.....) all in all, I enjoyed the oysters a lot. I ordered "crispy calamari salad" because it appeared on the menu to be super fresh; full of kale, cabbage and apples with "ginger" in the dressing. I was sold. Nutrition does count, almost as much as flavor. My husband ordered the salmon with golden beet/celeriac root puree and some slaw. It DID sound great... We ordered a glass of wine for dinner....pretty nice pour. My salad was huge! It delivered on the dark greens and plenty of calamari. Dressing was scant. Calamari not exactly "crisp" but kind of what you'd expect from a salad mixed with calamari. I am not even a dressing queen, but ordered more just so I could taste any flavor. salad was much improved by the extra dressing. Smooth and gingery with a bit of sweet. Matt's salmon was cooked medium rare, per the chef, and it...was...fabulous. Such a crispy finish that we wondered if they torched it a la creme brulee? Or maybe broiled it suuuper hot? done to perfection. The puree...was just ok and the slaw was minimal. It looked pretty, but just a fairly small portion. I didnt see any noticeable herb oil that was raved about by our server. Concensus? While the food was good, it was still overpriced, and while we can hang......the crowd was about 20 years our senior. Atmosphere was kinda bleh, server was good but not great. We wont be back in a hot hurry....unless its just for a quick platter of oysters. :)

Disclaimer: I haven't actually had dinner here, but their desserts are AMAZING! On my recent visit home, I grabbed a late dinner at downtown Bham with my friends and since we closed down restaurant #1 we decided to find someplace for dessert. At this point it was rounding Midnight so our "fancy" options were pretty limited. Yes, I am fully aware that there is a Coney Island in downtown Bham but I would rather take my chances with a Steak N Shake milkshake than get dessert at Coney Island. With that said, this is why I LOVE my friends back home. My Oppa decided to make it his personal mission to find me a delectable dessert to round out the night. So as we walked by Streetside he darts inside, asks the staff if they can sneak us in for dessert (their kitchen was closed but they are a bar/lounge later in the night) and guess what? They said they could! My Oppa, myself, and my Litto settled in for desserts. Yes, it was like a family reunion with my Korean big bro and my Chinese little bro (one of two I might add). They let me pick because I'm usually the pickiest about my sweets. I chose the Chocolate Creme Brulee and the house Special Coffee Heath Ice Cream Sundae. The Creme Brulee was amazing and perfectly decadent. However, the Ice Cream stole the show. It was perfectly creamy and clearly had a ridiculous milk fat content. The Heath bar chunks added a nice crunch to the texture as well. I would totally get it again. This place has a great vibe late at night and is excellent for people watching. I also have to genuinely thank this place for sneaking us in for dessert past midnight. That's real service! From the pictures I've seen on Yelp, I'll definitely have to grab dinner here the next time I'm in town? Family reunion 2.0? Why not?

We enjoyed an excellent family dinner there on our recent move to metro Detroit. The restaurant was recommended by neighbors. Come prepared to wIt for a table. No reservations and they are busy. We started with a selection of East and West coast oysters. All were fresh and delicious. Service was prompt and attentive, but not intrusive. We ordered the salmon and halibut specials which came cooked to perfection. Sadly no room for desert.

Just fair for the $15 to $30 lunch pricing. Avocado coleslaw showed no signs of contact with an avocado. Blackened cod sandwich had OK cod but 'sourdough bread' was could have come from economy shelf at the local discount grocery.

This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Michigan. Their menu is simple, with real fresh fish prepared and served to create very unique preparations. The buffalo shrimp is unbelievable. The lobster bisque has a great flavor. Crab cakes are nice and meaty. The main course never fails to impress. The bourbon pecan pie is amazing!

Quite disappointed considering all the great reviews. The price was too high for the quality. For a seafood restaurant, they do not know how to season their fish properly. The fish tacos and salmon filet were both bland and not well prepared.

Cool atmosphere, good wines and the clam chowder was delicious.

The bartender here is the most incredible asshole I have ever encountered. I live here. I will never come back here again. He is an ass. All I asked for was a glass for my beer and he scoffed at me. Then I asked again. And he asked if it was a deal breaker. I asked again and he relented. I got my glass. No, he wasn't joking. He is an asshole. His name is Michael. He ignores people. He sucks. The management should dump his sorry ass. As I am writing this. He continues chatting with people while others are trying to order Then he says hang on. DOUCHE BAG.

One of the best seafood experiences I have had. Fresh and flavored just right. Friendly staff and great feel to the place. The oysters were the app of choice and my party devoured them. We opted for another app to share after and went for the interesting Greek style calamari which had feta cheese that was a nice change from typical calamari elsewhere. For dinner I had the trout which came with sweet potato and grains and it was a great combination on one dish. Good flavor and was satisfying. High marks for Streetside. Check this place out if you haven't already.

Took my mother and sister to Streetside for my mom's 55th birthday. My mother doesn't eat *much* besides salad, but she LOVES lobster. She probably gets to eat it once a year... and usually only at that forgettable lobster chain (Red... something. lol). To me, that is all types of wrong and I had to treat her to some damn good lobster ASAP. So I took her to Streetside as I have read some great things about the food here. I have to say, I was impressed with the food's taste. Streetside definitely delivered in that area. I chose the scallops entree, my mother the lobster tail, my sister (who is not only the most un-adventurous eater but 9 months pregnant) chose the parm crusted chicken. (At a seafood place... sigh). My dirty martini was prepared just how I like (blue cheese stuffed olives... yes!). No complaints there. All of us enjoyed our dishes a LOT. My scallops came with quinoa, which I had no clue what it was... not sure how I felt about it. I'm always down to try something else... and I don't have anything to compare it to, but I would have rather chose something else to pair with it, personally. My mom said her lobster was great and she indeed scraped the plate (she's a light eater). My sister didn't say anything about her chicken but I noticed she ate all of it as well. She didn't eat her asparagus so we stole it from her (like I said, she's pretty boring when it comes to veggies) and it was very flavorful as well. I was still hungry so we shared an apple pie a la mode which was nice - nothing remarkable but def. satisfying. I think that's kind of the whole "theme" of this experience though. I enjoyed myself and was satisfied - but nothing remarkable. Our server was good, but nothing exceptional. With the prices, I'd kind of hope for something a little more on par with other seafood places as far as superior service. Also, the portions just seemed small here. I know I'm greedy, but I couldn't help but still wish for more. So was I happy with Streetside? yes. Was the food delicious? VERY! Do I feel I could find a place with comparable prices where I get MORE food and top-notch service? Yes, and that's my problem here. So, if you are in the area and want a light and delicious meal... stop in! You will be happy. If you want anything more, there are too many other options out there for me to say I'd come back without being nearby. Also, they say they do not take resverations. This was not an issue for us at 6pm on a weekday... but the bar area did seem to grow a bit since we arrived... and it's VERY small... I could see that being a pain on weekends... but no issue for me on a weekday. Edited to add: How could I forget about the bread here?? Ah-mazing and addictive! My sister and I seriously SMASHED the bread before my mom even realized there was any. (our server quickly refilled it for us) Ok, just wanted to add that. One of the best breads served with a meal I've had.

The staff is always fun, the drinks always cold and the entrees always superbly prepared. My favorite place to order fresh fish in the area.

I would love to say, I ate here and enjoyed it but me and my party were never seated. We arrived and were told by the hostess it would be 35 minutes. 1hr and 15 min later we had still not been seated and numerous parties of the same size were seated before us. I don't know if the hostess takes cash and seats people sooner, but she was the worst hostess ever and we left. I will never go here again. It is some exclusive club that I am not part of and don't want to be.

I had dinner and drinks here last night. My drinks, bread sticks and salad were very good but my trout was not. Our waiter must have worked here for years because the way he recited the daily specials it was like he was saying it for the 100000 time. I usually enjoy my meal here but you can't win them all. I love the clam chowder soup, i should of order that instead.

Maybe it is me and my standards are set too high but I expect any restaurant that charges near to $100 for a four coarse meal to provide a wait staff that is a few notches above Flo of Mel's Diner. Is it too much to ask that the waiter or waitress: a) listen and get your order correct; b) not walk up to you when your mouth is full; c) timely clear dishes after a coarse and not make you sit endlessly for what is next; d) remember to offer coffee or tea with dessert and then actually serve it. I couldn't tell you if the food was any good. With how bad the service was it wouldn't have mattered. This was a ZERO tip night and that doesn't happen often.

5 stars for the food, 3 for the service. First, the service. We've been completely underwhelmed by the service received at Birmingham restaurants. I don't know if they just think that highly of themselves, or if they all just decided being in Birmingham was enough and they don't need to actually train their staff on how to wow. It's not that the service was bad, but it wasn't anything to write home about. The food was great. We went out before seeing the DSO "In The Neighborhood" series. I started with the special soup of the day, sweet potato and butternut squash bisque. Great taste! (Here's an example of the service.. I asked about flour, as I am gluten sensitive. She didn't answer if it contained, but let me know it had cream. (duh), I had to ask again to get an answer). For dinner, my husband had the trout and quinoa with cauliflower, apple and sweet potato. The trout was delicious. He was iffy on the quinoa, but that was more personal taste that preparation. I had the whitefish topped with crab. Delicious! Big lumps of crab and the potatoes on the side were perfect. All told, we spent about $62 for soup, two glasses of wine, and two entrees. Not too bad for a date night.

I like it..I don't love it..I spent a hundred dollars for 2 entrees (the salmon dish and the whitefish) and 2 glasses of wine. I enjoyed my meal but I expect more bang for my buck. Having said that I love the inside of this place. Very homey feel. All in all not a bad place to go.

The fish was good quality, but the meals they put together were definitely meh. I had a pasta special with shrimp, lobster, tomato, herbs, olives (don't remember what else). Had high hopes but was disappointed with the flavorless plate in front of me. My mom and husband each had one of the fish options, and were similarly bored. Biggest positives: bread was very tasty and warm and lobster bisque was excellent. Won't be back to spend that kind of dough on boring food.

Love this place....only reason we don't go there more often is the fact that it's always "too" crowded. A prime example of not being able to have your cake and

It blows my mind that I haven't reviewed this place before! We've been going here for over 2 years now and it is still by far top 3 restaurants for me. Every time we come, the service is top notch. I love how they take their time and don't rush you - but they're still there checking up on you constantly. Their breadsticks are absolutely heavenly. Sprinkled with a little bit of cheese, they melt in your mouth and make you wish for more. But pace yourself!!! It gets better. The clam chowder? Re-DONKULOUS. Thick and creamy, loaded with clams and potatoes. We usually stuff ourselves so much with bread and clam chowder that we can't even eat our dinner!! Unfortunately after an unrelated clam chowder incident while in California, I no longer eat this soup...but if I did, it would be Streetside's that I crave :) Every single meal I've ever had here is just the cats meow. HOWEVER. The most amazing meal to date has been the blackened catfish tacos. Doesn't sound like much, but you get 3 small tortillas loaded with blackened catfish - perfectly tender and flaky. There is a coleslaw on the bottom and a fruit salsa on stop, along with a spicy dipping sauce. I changed my mind to the tacos at the last minute and I'm still thanking my lucky stars!! Of course, we always get dessert, we're fatties and we love it. BOURBON NUT PIE. Get it. Holy hell people! I can't even explain it. Even if I was deathly allergic to nuts, I would still order this - I would go to the hospital for this dessert!! Just get it and thank me later. Now of course there is always a ridiculously long wait, but that's part of the fun! I love elbowing my way through the bar and ordering a drink from the surly bartender. The drinks are nice and strong, and the people are great. It's tiny, cozy, and super inviting, so check it out!!
