Great sandwiches! The guys who work there are always chatty, they held onto a bag I accidentally left behind there (silly me) and their bagels with lox have helped me survive lent!

My favorite deli, and one of my favorite places in Birmingham! I almost always get a #11, or the York. Corned beef, cheese, and a fried egg but I get Russian dressing instead of spicy mustard on mine. It's so good! I've also enjoyed other sandwiches and wraps I've tried; the menu is extensive!

Just had a great meal here with my girl. I had a turkey sandwich and she had pastrami. The food was amazing! Fresh and affordable. We also tried the fries and while I wasn't a fan, my girl loved them.

Just had my first experience at Stacked Deli and I was pleasantly surprised. I had "The Tiger" sandwich and the turkey chili and both were awesome! On top of that the cooks were super friendly and delivered my good right to the table. I will definitely be back for all my lunch breaks!

Very good!! I wish there were more deli's around like this one. The service was awesome, very helpful and pleasant. The food was really good too, we had the turkey club and a corned beef sandwhich, both were great no complaints! We will definitely be back in the future!

One of my favorite spots in Birmingham, which is saying a lot because there's so many great restaurants! I find myself constantly craving Stacked, it's just very good. My favorite is the Detroiter with turkey. Second favorite is the Crispy Chicken Wrap. If you're a ranch lover, that'll be your favorite too!

Great ingredients and delicious food!! Try the chicken salad (not sandwich). The prices are a little high, but the food is good and the rent is high, so it's a given around there.

Love this place. Everything is really fresh and tasty, and the serving sizes are massive. - So far, I keep getting humongous salads. You can add a humongous grilled chicken breast for $2, and it's very flavorful and tender. - I've had a few bites of the corned beef sandwiches and look forward to getting sandwiches in the future. Sandwiches also come with a tasty pickle on the side. - The fries are pretty good and come in a giant basket; battered/seasoned fries are not my favorite, but these are so addictive. - I've tried the tomato basil soup, which I personally didn't love (I didn't realize it would be a creamy soup), but it had a lot of tomato and basil chunks, which I can appreciate. It was also very filling. I'm going to try chicken noodle or another soup in the future. - The drink and chip selection is great. Dr. Brown's, San Pellegrino limonata, etc. - There are special customer-created sandwiches and salads listed on the wall if you walk up to the register. I wish they were listed elsewhere too because I always take forever to decide what I want, and I don't want to stand in front of the register and block other people from ordering. - Cheese sticks and chicken tenders are on the menu?! Did I die and go to heaven?

I came here strictly based upon other Yelpers. Needless to say the bar was set extremely high (multiple 5 star reviews) and to be honest, it fell short in my opinion. There was a nice selection of sandwiches and salads. I loved that they had Dr. Brown's - made me feel like I was home. Don't get me wrong, Stacked is definitely better than a fast food chain, but it's not in the same league as a place like Zingerman's or 2nd Avenue in NY. I went with the Stacked Salad - corned beef, turkey, swiss (their version of a chef salad) There was a generous amount of meat on the salad, but the quality was just fine for me. Tasted like it could be Boars Head. Perhaps I'm spoiled but when people review this and say it's a NYC kosher-style deli, I'm thinking it's going to be like Katz's. As long as you don't expect the corned beef like Katz's, you won't be disappointed. That being said, I enjoyed my lunch. If I were in the area again, I would come back and try a sandwich.

Here's the deal - when I buy a $12 for a sandwich (ironically the "Mega Stack) and order it cold, with cole-slaw and tomato on the side and it comes out hot on a squished out insipid onion roll and only has 7 ounces of corned beef - I get upset. Excuse my vitriol, but REALLY, 7 ounces of corned beef on the "MEGA Stack"? That's a $24 a pound sandwich. I know the restaurant business is tough but that's just theft. The onion roll was uninspiring, but the coleslaw was NOT house made - come on people - you can't even shred some cabbage when you charge $24 a pound for your sandwiches?!?! Their online menu is does not include current prices. The current prices are much higher (more that 10% on the item I ordered, the #17 "The Mega Stack"). Maybe it's because it was Saturday, or maybe I just got unlucky, but maybe the owners could invest a few $ in buying a scale and actually make your sandwiches consistently contain a quantity of meat that lives up to the $12 price tag.

Vegetarian menu available, the rye bread is so delicious grilled, and also available by loaf for take home, the kids chicken strips is a satisfying portion, also the staff were very friendly. Very nice atmosphere in Royal Oak cute shops around. Thanks for a great lunch today.

Uptown (I get it on rye) is as good of sandwich as you're going to get anywhere. Good fries too.

Solid sandwiches & salads, and their fries are to die for. They get points for their customer service. One thing to note: Stacked is packed at lunch, so you usually have to wait a while for your order.

Great place for deli-style sandwiches. Comparable to Al's Famous on Woodward, but I like Stacked a bit better. Their sandwiches are creative, fresh, and definitely filling. The service is great and everyone is super friendly. The place is clean. Even their side items like fries, salads, and soups are top notch. My only complaint are the hours. I've often had a Stacked craving in the evening or on a Sunday, to go with some NFL action, and I'm always disappointed that they aren't open. I wish they were open until 8:00 during the week and for at least a couple hours on Sunday. I would probably go here far more often if they expanded their hours.

Wow! I just had the best lunch I've had in a while. Situated smack in downtown Birmingham, Stacked Deli offers a large selection of sandwiches, wraps, soups, burgers and dogs, and salads. The atmosphere is casual, and the interior is very nice; brick walls, vintage Detroit photographs, and a rack of "made in Michigan" potato chips give it an old-school feel. I ordered a #25, the veggie stack wrap (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, avocado, red onion, carrots, green pepper, and Muenster cheese in a wheat wrap). I thought the veggies would be cooked, not raw, but they were chopped fine enough that I didn't have to rip a whole piece out of the sandwich when I tried to take a bite. Altogether it was a delicious sandwich! So full of fresh veggies, and the perfect amount of cheese. The girl behind the register, Kyleen, was pleasant and helpful when I was trying to decide what to get. Everyone on staff was in a great mood and it was a nice place. I would totally go back again. Great lunch spot!

I frequent downtown Birmingham, and I had never had such disgruntled service. First the a clerk overcharged the already overpriced sandwich and I'm indifferent about their squishy pickle on the side lol. But that's not why I gave such a low review. Let me explain. I ordered their Reuben sandwich which was exceptional. I really enjoyed their sandwich. The corned beef was cooked perfectly and their bread simply melts in your mouth. And whatever sauce they use to dress the sandwich? Two thumbs way up. No wonder this is one of your popular sandwiches! My mouth is actually watering thinking about it. However this is why I dock your stars... I dined in for 15-20 minutes and I can't tell you how many times the young clerk rolled her eyes when phone calls came in. I've worked at a carry out restaurant before to tell you that she was not that busy. A happy family of four placed their order and sat outside. Apparently the clerk was extremely displeased with the inconvenience to walk a few steps out to deliver their lunch. She huffed and puffed and it was REALLY irritating. Her bad attitude was enough to somewhat ruin my first experience here. In fact, I think it even inspired me to eat faster so I could get out. So... I suppose if I were to go here again, I would just call carry out.

Well, I'm changing this now to say that the shop has gone down. It used to be very good, but now I would just say it was mediocre at best. The sandwiches always seem to be very greasy and the staff not so friendly. I'm sure there is better places out there....

Got very sick after eating here. I had the burger and onion rings. I asked for the burger medium rare and they gave it to me very rare - so I gave it back and said please make it well done - they had already cut it. They cooked each half and one came back to me still raw - even cold on the inside and the other half was slightly more cooked but cold too. The onion rings were very hot and very greasy. Stayed up all night with an upset stomach. Almost vomited it all up. Horrible experience.

I ordered the "old Woodward" and waited the allotted 10 min to pick it up. $9 for turkey, lettuce, tomato and Swiss cheese?? I figured it was just Birmingham prices so I paid the guy and went on my way. within ten minutes of eating the sandwich and limp, soggy pickle, I got sick. when I called the guy back just to let him know (I wasn't even asking for a refund) he just said "not to be rude but it's probably your fault, it couldn't be the sandwich". considering I work in customer service down the street and now have to leave work early because I got sick from that sandwich, that was the WRONG way to handle that call. I just paid 9$ to get sick.

Been here a few times and it's a very good choice in the area for a deli-style grilled sandwich. There lots of mediocre chains in Bham. This is a local joint and the guys that appear to run the place have been friendly and prompt. Sandwich chips and a drink is gonna be $12. Not a cheap lunch, but it's good compared to the alternatives. The menu is pretty extensive and check out the customer creations posted behind the counter. You might want to study up online if you are like me and get paralyzed by numerous possible combinations of cured meats, cheeses, slaws and krauts. New seating and lighting apparently on the way for an upcoming remodel.

I work in Birmingham and this is probably my favorite spot to get carryout from. Great sandwiches and soups hard working and courteous staff and quality ingredients. They do delivery in walking distance for downtown birmingham. Cool feature is items not on the menu named after customers like the Lexa which is basically a chicken greek with avocado and it equals awesome. I'm hoping someday that they add a fried egg and cheese sandwich called "The Parvez" after one of my coworkers. Highly recommended. I'd advise calling ahead because they are busy and they have a wait time during lunch hours. My personal go to right now is the tuna melt and cup of turkey chili.

Let me start out by saying the food here is so delicious! My issue with this place is the service - speed and hospitality. I tried this place today, after a long hiatus due to being treated rudely and served soooooo sllllooowllllyyy. Without fail, every time I've ordered anything from Stacked - whether it be online or in person, I've had to wait 20+ minutes over the quoted time, even when I'm the only person in the restaurant and have never been notified pleasantly about this by staff. In my opinion, the staff always seems overwhelmed and rushed resulting in poor customer treatment. Today's visit was an exception to this! Speedy service & friendly treatment. As I approached the counter, anticipating to be snapped at by staff then told my food wasn't ready, just like every other visit, I was nicely surprised. I let the cashier know I was ready to pick up my order and was promptly & politely handed my meal - Right on schedule and friendlier than ever. Unfortunately, upon returning to work and digging into my sandwich I noticed it wasn't my order. I must have been given the incorrect bag or had the incorrect meal placed in my to-go bag. None the less, as stated above the food here is delicious and this sandwich was no exception. They just can't seem to get it right for me. Maybe I'll give it a try in another 6 months.

I only got a the chicken soup... but the soup was watery and bland. I was sick and just wanted some homecooked-style soup. I figured a local deli with great reviews had to have soup that was better than what the Plum Market deli offered.

Great little deli in downtown Birmingham! Not a chain restaurant and love supporting local businesses. I had a great sandwich and their soup was good too! Service was excellent too. Everyone was smiling. Can't get that at a "chain" restaurant. It's on my rotation of restaurants!

Been here twice just to make sure... both times with two different cashiers - they seemed put off by questions and my lack of knowledge of their process or their menu. Place is clean and quiet - music in the background does not overpower conversation. Food prepared well, served to the table, prompt. This place gives you a good value for your money. Both times I ordered a normal pastrami reuben - not the stacked version. It's an ok sandwich - its not something I would NEED to have once in a while - or honestly - ever again. Flavor is ok - but nothing WOW. Turkey sandwich, and burger were both 'just ok' as well and did not create a craving to warrant a special trip here for the food. Kinda average. Most likely will not be back.

This is a new deli in downtown Birmingham and it's already one of my new favorite place for lunch! Their menu is huge! All types of sandwiches and different types of meat. The salad menu is large as well. They advertise as jewish style deli and although it's not the same as the jewish delis I have been in NYC, it's good enough for me. I'm not into liver and tongue sandwiches anyway. My first sandwich I had was The York. It's a corned beef sandwich with fried eggs, swiss cheese, & spicy mustard on a Challah bread. It was the regular size and not the "stacked" size which contains more meat. The regular size was good enough for me since I ordered a side dish also. The corned beef was excellent and tasted very lean and fresh. Fresh for meat meaning Not frozen and reheated. The Challah bread reminded me of buttery brioche buns. Very tasty. My second sandwich I tried was the Veggie Stack. This was a good alternative for vegetarians of light eaters. However, it could have been better. The avocado was not ripe and hard. It also could use one more slice of cheese. Now the fries here might become a very popular item! They are freshly made and seasoned very similar to Rally's and Checker's style. It one of the best fries I had in awhile. They give you a good amount too. Enough to share. The seating is limited so not a great place for more then 3 in a group. Prices are reasonable. Sadnwiches are around $7 without sides. They have coupons on their website and they have daily specials under $10 for full lunch. The service is excellent since they are new and they are looking to please the customers. I'm hoping they stay around the neighborhood for awhile so I can try all different sandwiches and salads on the menu!

Everyone in my office has been patiently waiting for a GOOD deli near what some refer to as 'the four corners' of downtown Birmingham (Maple and Old Woodward). Stacked is exactly what we needed!! The staff is friendly, great service and the food is prepared fresh. As a pickle connoisseur, I personally love that they give two different kinds of pickle spears with every sandwich!

  • Corissa M.

Nice little deli for a quick lunch. Everything is made fresh, and the sandwiches are quite large. It's defnitely worth the money. The only con is that lunch time can be VERY busy. Even if you use their online ordering, you still may have to wait when you get there.

I lived in Boston for a few years, so I got to know what a really good sandwich was. After moving back to Michigan, it was really difficult finding anything that came close to what was available in Boston, but Stacked definitely stacks up (pun totally intended). The sandwiches were awesome and the service was wonderful as well. I got the "Detroiter" which is just a turkey reuben with coleslaw. The "small" was just fine for me, still tons of meat on it. Got the potato salad which was really good as well, but I think I'll try out the french fries next time. If you do try this place out, I promise you won't be disappointed!

I think most deli's fall into two categories. One is a place that is hustling and bustling and seems very old fashioned and they just want to throw sandwiches at you that are piled as high as possible and have the best chance of giving you a heart attack. Category two is a deli that is understated, clean, and the sandwiches are calculated pieces of art, not a sloppy mess intended to be woofed down by a future contestant on Biggest Loser. But don't get me wrong I love both of these types of delis, I don't discriminate, as long as it tastes right. I'd say Stacked is in the second category, My sandwich, The Classic(Pastrami, cole slaw, and swiss on rye) was artfully crafted and toasted perfectly. I liked getting a regular and kosher pickle on the side as well. The regular sandwich was filling and not a mess. However if you are in the mood you can elect to make it "stacked" and get even more meat piled high. Stacked is still fairly new and have a lot of solid menu items - I imagine they are "packed" for lunch given their location in downtown B-Ham but I can't say for sure. Give this joint a look so it sticks around. Friendly staff and good, clean looking shop.

What a shame. Ever since the new owner took over, the customer service has hit the toilet! The food is still tasty so they get 2 stars, but the owner and his staff are rude, indifferent and careless. If he treats his staff anything like he treats customers, I can understand why the staff is that way. There are too many yummy places to eat in Birmingham that have great staff to be bothered with this place anymore.

My fave place to get lunch. I work a couple of doors down from this place and when I am not having a protein shake for lunch I go there. I love the Mcstacker a grilled chicken sandwich on an onion roll, I get it stacked with jalapenos and colby cheese and bbq sauce..yum yum...Fries are the best too....very hard to pass up...The tuna sandwich is also good. All the soups are made fresh in house and are so good. My mom sometimes take me to lunch and always wants to go to Stacked she gets something different every time and loves it every time. I have gotten the vegitarian sandwiches as well and they are very satisfying. The only thing I ever got that i didnt care for was lox and bagel..there was no capers and the salmon tasted weird but I 'll go to Einstein's for those.

Used to go to Onion Roll on Woodward to fill my craving for pastrami and corned beef. It WAS a great place for food, but not anyplace you would really want to take anyone to if dressed nicely if you get my drift. Since Onion Roll closing I have been to Stacked many times and everyone I take says WOW! this place is awesome! Great tasting food, and it is CLEAN! My new fav!
