Big props to market North End for being able to fit my group of 14 for a Saturday night dinner on short notice. There are not a lot of places in Birmingham that you could say that about. It was all of our first time there and surprisingly almost all had a great meal and dinner experience. The waitress was honest with her recommendations: get the fried chicken, which really was all that! I got the Bronzino fish which opposed to the pictures I saw on yelp, was missing the head. Deliscious! The beet and arugula salad was just ok though. Nicely dressed but that's about it. Overall great place with nicely low light ambience, good staff, and good food! What more could you ask for??

The food is good. I recently had a bad experience at the bar. I gave them my card to start a tab. I was there with friends. I ask for bill. It includes everyone's drinks. I know for certain that some of the drinks had been paid for in cash. I ask to split up the tab. The owner says they won't and that "Looks like your friends owe you money." I will say that it was very busy and maybe the bar tenders just didn't want to make separate tabs. If I give you my credit card, it is done with the intention that I won't be charged for other people's food or drinks without my consent. Probably won't go back. TLDR: Be vigilant about what you actually had and what's on your bill.

Great little place... Had lunch while visiting... Lots to choose from from pasta, salads, burgers, soups, sandwiches. Very nice people and service was great.

On my third time visiting the Market North End, it was Friday night of Labor Day weekend and the crowd was lighter than usual as I'm sure many folks were heading out of town. Usually this place is slammin on weekend nights. Not a problem though, since I don't believe in waiting long for a seat at most restaurants. What I do believe in is solid service and our waitress provided us with that. She wasn't the friendliest but she did her job well. We chose the beef and lamb appetizer and it was basically small medallions of what you can get from any middle eastern restaurant in the area. Decent but far from anything I'd order again. I went with the hot pepper thin crust pizza with sausage and my date chose the salmon salad. We both enjoyed our dishes immensely. We also liked the drinks although my first choice for beer was already sold out so I had to go with something else. I've previously ordered their fried chicken which is outrageous in a good way. While some Birmingham restaurants may have a reputation of arrogance, Market North End doesn't have that vibe at all. Being that they're further down Old Woodward, much of the rah rah from downtown is lost here making it a much more casual experience. Design wise, it reminds me of a San Francisco seafood pub with their huge wraparound bar, dim lighting and what looks to be an enclosed patio. The crowd and staff are typically very outgoing from what I've noticed. The tables are really close together so it's not the best for an intimate night out but it is a great place to enjoy with family and friends. Make sure to call ahead if you plan on going on a Friday or Saturday night.

Market North End is our Birmingham "go-to". Its one of the few places where you don't feel the "Birmingham Stuffiness". Consistently good food, good drinks and service. The outdoor dining area is great. They have a lot of cool menu options - but their pizza is always an easy go-to dish! I always recommend!

One of my new favorite spots when I'm in Detroit. It seems like it's become the new place to be seen. But it's not just about the socializing, the food alone is worth a visit as well. It gets pretty busy in the evenings and you can find yourself trying to force yourself through the crowd mingling in the bar area. Everything I've tried at this place has been on point. You have to order the House Bread and Sweet Corn as a side is also good. Lots of unique item combinations on the menu but they do not disappoint. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the items on the menu! It's kind of a hole in the wall as there is no actual business sign outside, at least not one that i've been able to spot. If it wasn't for a friend's recommendation I would have thought it was just apart of the Law Firm Office.

This hidden gem was amazing! My family loves it and brought me for the first time last week. I can see why it's their favorite. I can speak about the house bread and skordalia. It was a perfect appetizer to split and I won't spoil the surprise about the secret ingredient in the skordalia! The main courses were scallops, fried chicken, ribs and berkshire pork. Each one was amazing, though I think my favorite was the pork. I had a tough time choosing since the menu was not only interesting, but ran anywhere from crazy good looking salads to pizzas to tantalizing veggie sides to a full plate. This place would satisfy any vegetarian/vegan tastes also. We had to try the olive oil ice cream. Yes ... didn't sound too good to me, but you'd be surprised. The wait staff was great. And it was a pleasure to meet the owner, Kristen, who took the time to check in with us, give suggestions and make sure we were pleased. She was fabulous. As was the entire experience. When you go, don't be looking for a big sign on the front. Just put the address in your GPS and go. You'll be glad you did!

It's a compact place but the food is great. Staff seems friendly, but they're very busy, especially on Thursday nights (of course, it's Birmingham). A lot of people make sure they look really nice before the step inside this place lol! But, hey, who doesn't like good-looking people! ;) I started with some tasty white wine and very fresh special of the evening - the ahi tuna. Anywho, the bartenders know how to handle a crowd just fine and the crowd is a professional group happy to enjoy the start of the weekend!

No clue what the people who made this average a 3.5 are smoking. Great beer and booze selection. Very attractive staff who are super attentive and friendly. Been here four times and everything has been great. Probably the best fish and chips I ever had. I understand some people like extra crunchy fried chicken, but the breeding and seasoning was on point. Even a bigger bonus is the chicken was great quality and did not have that rubber or overly poultry taste. The $10 pizza/salad combo is an amazing deal. Read some reviews complain about waits. You are aware they do everything pretty much fresh? Want the food quicker, get a processed meal that comes with a toy next time. Love this place.

This place was wonderful. The food was excellent and didn't take long to come out. The staff was friendly and attentive. My friend and I ordered the pizza rolls for an appetizer and they were really yummy. For the main courses we split the lamb burger and the house made fettuccine with red sauce. The only reason this did not get five stars is because the space was super tight. We sat in their outside seating and it was really hard to move around. Definitely won't stop me from going there again.

Went here for lunch with my cousin. Ambience is very laid back. loved eating lunch on their patio. I got the $10 pizza and salad combo, choosing the insalata pizza and salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Loved the salad, I was pleasantly surprised since I usually don't like balsamic vinaigrette. Maybe my taste is changing. The pizza was great too, the vegetables on the pizza were very fresh and flavorful. My only complaint is that there was not enough chicken and a little too much ranch on the pizza. The menu is pretty big for a lunch menu so I'm excited to try new dishes next time!

I saw someone here that I hated so I'm going to have to give this place one star. I know that it's out of their hands but what can I say. UPDATE: after eating here I am thoroughly satisfied. Healthy food that isn't super pricey and super tasty. TYBG!!

This place was horrible. When we asked for a cup with a lid for my son the owner came over and told me they don't give them out because they cost him 23cents. He then proceeded to tell me that they don't really like kids. It was very annoying considering he is located at across from a kids park and it is next to the farmers market on a Sunday. I wish people would just post they don't want kids rather than just try and make things uncomfortable for them. Additionally the bathrooms were very dirty. I would not go here again.

Market north end is a nice welcome addition to the Birmingham dining scene. I have been there a few times since they have opened, with a variety of opinions. Obviously the first time we dined there, service was a little slow, dishes were not well prepared, normal setbacks when first opening a joint. Second trip back, you could tell the service was getting a tad bit better, so was the food- however there was some super strange funky smell that invaded the whole restaurant. Now my last trip on Thursday night- you can tell this is where the Birmingham/Bloomfield hills divorcee crowd flocks to for their weeknight libations :) the bar staff is super friendly, but it's a tad on the crowded side. Definitely a place to see and be seen. I'll probably go back at a slower time to actually enjoy a meal, but the drinks are still great!

Last night was my first visit to Market North End. I went with three of my girlfriends and we split the zucchini, cauliflower and butternut squash for some appetitzers. Love how they have such a variety of good/healthy veggies to order. All of the veggies were good but cauliflower was by far my favorite. I had thier roasted garlic chicken for dinner and thought it was very good. Nice portion (not too big, but was very content after). Chicken had great flavor and I loved the peppers and yukons that came with. The yukons were mixed with Kale and it was seriously the most delicious combination. A little loud inside, so hard to hear our conversation at times, but not really a deal breaker. Will definitely go back!

Loved the atmosphere. Loved the food. Loved the service. We had a waitress who was training a gal and they were both extremely nice and knew the menu and I LOVE that. Especially when there seems to be so many great options.. I need some help to narrow it down. Or I'll get ahead of myself and order everything (which I kind of did). Chicken and lamb for the app, fries, ravioli, garlic soup, chicken noodle soup, otto and due calzones. YUM to it all! The table was oddly wobbly and it irritated me just a tad. Maybe I'm being too picky, hah!

Me and all of my friends think this restaurant is great. My New York strip was perfectly cooked and sizzling hot. The pizzas are in my top 5 list for Detroit pizza. I've had salmon, Bronzino, octopus, and halibut from Market too and everything was cooked perfectly. It's a hoppin' spot and I enjoy being there.

Best fried chicken I've ever had. Period. Pizza, awesome. Fish and chips, awesome. Waitresses, awesome. I have no clue how this place got bad reviews, must have been ex-boyfriends and haters.

Have been here 3 times...First time, called ahead. Was told the wait was 40 minutes. Arrived about 30 minutes after the call, waited another 30-40 minutes. Was ignored multiple times by the hostess when trying to ask what the status of our reservation was. (She was tall...me, not so tall. Maybe she just didn't see me.) Our table was given to a party of 4 and then they tried to seat us (party of 5) at a skinny hightop table right next to the crowded bar. IF we were just drinking, it may have been fine. But there was no way it would have been comfortable trying to eat at that table. We asked for the owner. He was immediately defensive and told us that call ahead doesn't guarantee you will wait less. (So why have call ahead???) Then a table was magically available in the dining area...which we declined and took ourselves over to Cameron's. Second time...got there around 4pm so we got a table right away. Food was actually good...nothing I needed to come back for but I could see why people like coming here. That being said, considering there were not that many people in the place, the service could have been much better. And, I'm not sure if it's policy for the servers to keep a straight face or night, but I prefer friendly, smiling servers. Third time (and NEVER again)...friends got there before me and were told there was a 20 minute wait. 40 minutes later we were still waiting. When my friend asked the women up front when we would be seated she basically called my friend a liar and told her that there was a one hour wait and she would have never said 20 minutes. Two other friends heard her say it was a 20 minute wait!!! We were starving...the place was overcrowded...so we decided to go elsewhere. As we walked out, my friend told the woman up front we were leaving because of the wait and the fact that she had lied to us. The woman (who said she was the owner) still insisted she never said 20 minutes but (once again) there was suddenly a table available! Again...we declined and enjoyed ourselves somewhere else. We work in customer service and I pride myself on MY customer service...so, I will NEVER give my business to a place that doesn't! I don't care where it's located or who else goes there...to me, it's not worth it.

Spot on atmosphere - chic rustic industrial vintage. Food and service always excellent. Love the rectangular layout of the bar- good upscale crowd

Long time customer but no longer. Bartenders pocketed cash paid by a friend for his drinks/food and double charged us by keeping the items on my credit card tab at the bar. Owners are husband/wife who pretend to be your friend but are really just fake and provided no recourse. It's a shame.

The entrees were really good. My wife had ravioli which was very tasty, and I had the NY Strip which was also very good. The calamari was great. We got a pizza to go and that was really good. It's a nice atmosphere. We went together on a weekend night and it was fine, but we had previously tried to go with our 18-month old daughter during the day. It's odd that they're across from a park in a family-heavy community and open for lunch, yet they don't have high chairs. Pretty much every other non-formal restaurant in Birmingham has high chairs: Social Kitchen, Dick O'Dow's, Griffin Claw, Toast, etc. Not this place. Weird.

Hostess: great! She was nice and gave us options on where to sit. Water boy: great! Brought our water fast. Server: good. She didn't have the best personalty for a service person but brought our food in a timely manner Ambiance: casual trendy. Hipsters would love. The food: pretty good! We started off with the potato crisps $3.50 they were fresh nothing special. I had the sausage and pepperoni calzone $14 it has a thinner crust but no sauce so I asked for some on the side it was tasty I would order again. Also had the fried chicken $16.50 it comes with roasted potatoes and carrots I could do with out the carrots the chicken was very good white meat a little dry but the dipping sauce help with that I would order again.

Great first time experience, he Grapefruit IPA was delicious, small plate were fantastic, especially the Chiliques. My cocktail named The Last Word I believe, was insanely good. Gin and Chartreuse and some other goodness. Our server Kate was really sweet, honest and on point all night. Highly recommended!!

Market gets its stars only for the ambience and drinks. Great place to unwind with friends at the bar, but in terms of food it seriously disappointed. The menu is small with little variety and options, not to mention the food we did get was not cooked/prepared well and the portions were probably smaller than we paid for.

Had great overall experience at North End Market. The house bread is a unique thin puff round- delicious! The main dinner courses were made with wonderful and delicious Mediterranean spices. Our waitress, Ashley, was a step above the rest- making our meal top end!

Great service and atmosphere. Nice place to have drinks with friends however, the food was not that great. The toppings on our pizza didn't seem too fresh and my entree salad was an average tossed salad in a very small portion. Also, my chair was very wobbly, and the chair next to mine was worse, so couldn't swap :/

On our latest visit to Market North End, we noticed a not-too-subtle shift in ambiance and style of service - and were disappointed in the change. First, the ambiance. The last time we dined here, we enjoyed the experience immensely. The atmosphere was quiet and comfy, our server was incredibly attentive, and the food was excellent. This time, while the food was still quite good, almost everything else had changed. First, the noise level - bordering on intolerable. We were a couple plus a single friend. The noise made conversation among the 3 of us nearly impossible. We decided to assemble our own tasting menu, ordering the fava/hummus starter, a kale and roasted acorn squash salad, roasted carrots with creamy yogurt sauce, breaded eggplant, plus a pizza (which we thought would be our main course, or at least served with the vegetables). Here, things began to devolve. Within an amazingly short period of time, we were served with all our dishes. In fact, the hummus app came out last, after we got the pizza. Our server was quite professional, but the bus person seemed determined to clear every plate within nanoseconds of our finishing a dish (and sometimes not waiting for us to finish). When he was filling the water glasses, he spilled water all over the table, and did not attempt to mop up the spill. My co-diner had to use his napkin to take care of it. We ended with dessert and coffee. These came without incident. Too bad the rest of the meal was so disjointed. Sorry to have to knock off a star.

Called ahead. Was told 45-60 mins. It's now been 2.5 hours and I'm still waiting. I'm sure the food might be awesome. Not sure if it's worth the wait though.

It is one of those Birmingham places that is full of very Birminghamy people. The crowd really is too much, but that makes it spectacular in the way that you feel like you're in the middle of a Bravo reality show. The menu reminds me of Biga, or Bigalora, or whatever it's called these days. It isn't as good, but you'll find reasonably priced gourmet pizzas that come from a hot oven (I'm not sure if it's wood, coal, brick, steel, but it's something). The mushroom pizza we had was ok, but arrived a bit cold, and the mushroom flavors weren't well-amplified. The beet salad is what you'd expect, with fresh beets, arugula, goat cheese, but with the unexpected addition of avocado. I'd recommend that. The wine list is a-ok, as well. Service was excellent. The servers are knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and probably have very thick skin.

Was in town for business and this place was great. Awesome atmosphere, fantastic food, and an overall delight. Word of warning though, they don't have a large enough sign out front to see from the street. I passed it up twice before realizing where it was.

A favorite haunt for a gals' night out. We're mostly professionals and married and not interested in sitting at the bar, but really enjoy being able to bump into a few other friends while also enjoying our private chit chat. Usually the gals and I don't get much more than a pizza (so good) and wine, but the hubby and I have come back for salads and dinner and have really enjoyed the food. The kale salad is a fave. We went with the kids when the restaurant first opened and decided this probably wasn't the right space for kids. It's busy and loud and has a really active bar. I remember not being wowed by the menu and our selections during the initial visit, but we were probably trying to choose kid-friendly eats. For sure recommend for someone not too too young and who likes a lively crowd.

My friend who is a regular has been trying to get me to eat here for awhile.I finally broke down and tried the place and I was very impressed. The restaurant is beautiful on the outside and on the inside. The staff are excellent as is the food. I look forward to dining here again.

*NOT KID FRIENDLY* If my wife and I had no kids this would be an ok place to go and grab a bite...but we don't. Anyone who has kids knows how hard it is to get a date night (especially on Sunday when we went), so when we go out, our 18 month old daughter comes along. Upon arrival we were told they do NOT have high chairs, "I'm sorry?" was my response. "We put your group in a half booth, hopefully that works" the hostess said in reply. Walking to our table I thought not only how in the heck do you not have a high chair, my 18mo is not going to last more than 3 mins sitting there, AND that everyone in the place was staring at us like "How dare we bring a child to this establishment." We toughed it out though and despite the lack of accommodations, slow service, and no children's menu, made it work. Our daughter was great swapping sitting on laps and nibbled on some of our dinners. She LOVED the bread appetizer. Wife got a salad, which was definitely not a dinner portion and I had the fried chicken dish which was tasty. Others at the table had pizzas and I know one friend tried the calamari pasta which looked good. At the end of the night though I just was so blown away by not having a highchair it was a disappointing experience. I was actually very excited to try out this new "no exterior sign" place in Bham. None of the wait staff except for an older lady who appeared to be a manager type were friendly at all. Heck, our daughter waived and said hello three times to our main waitress who just flat out ignored her. I'd come back for a cocktail with local friends after work but otherwise will be eating lunch and dinner elsewhere.

Delicious, great atmosphere and wonderful service! We stopped in for the first time last night, (our anniversary) later in the evening and enjoyed ourselves, our server Savannah took time to explain the menu, even though we let her know we only wanted drinks but were interested to see the menu for next time. We ended up staying for a few drinks and ordering the Otto pizza which was very good. Then we decided to have another pizza and take some home and Savannah recommended the Nove. We loved it! We asked about dessert and she then suggested a ricotta cheese cake and it was perfect, over all everything had great flavor and good portions. We look forward to having dinner there soon, and it is on our list of favorite places for a drink and appetizer. Great menu, and thank you Savannah for taking such good care of us :) Kelli & Rick

Very nice ambience, prompt service and interesting menu selection albeit overpriced. The beef and lamb kufta was excellent as an appetizer and may actually be a good entree if combined with bread and a salad. I had the blackened halibut with pineapple. It was cooked well, but it is definitely over priced for what you get. Other than that, great place overall.

I went in there with a friend and we had a few drinks to "celebrate" :sarcasm: the first snow.. So this was mid November. I'm cashing out and the bartender said to give me back the receipt, she needed to charge me for another drink. The next morning I told my friend how much our tab was, a 12 dollar difference, and she said there is no way she had three margaritas. (We were talking with different groups of people that night so I didn't pay attention to how much she drank so I didn't contest the second and larger bill) My friend is 5'5" and she would have been on the floor. So I called the restaurant and a manager or owner wasn't in and I was told I would get a call back. The lady I spoke with said she would refund my drink and send me an email that confirms my credit card was being reimbursed. A few hours later I still hadn't gotten an email so I called the restaurant back and left a message for her to call me because I wanted to make sure she got the right email. A few days go by and I call the restaurant back, and I talked to a very sweet man who understood my frustration. The owner was out of town and he left a voicemail saying I was being refunded twice. Well, my bank statement showed I only got refunded once. To make a long story short- I didn't feel like things got taken care of quick enough, I only got refunded once after all the trouble I went through, and ALWAYS check your bar tab. Pretty disappointing, considering I tipped the bartender much more than she deserved. We ain't in Vegas, overpriced drinks.

i liked the red sangria they had, as it came with cinnamon sugar on the rim :) the entrees we had were decent, but nothing spectacular. the pizza was tasty, however it was a bit hard and dry for the dough part. our waitress wasnt really attentive, so service isnt too good. very nice interior.

Good food, wine, location and atmosphere. Mixed crowd. Great menu for sharing. Yummy pizza. Loved the Bronzini. Only downside was seating (we were at a high top by the bar and it was a little crowded which was not great for enjoying a meal). Next time I'll ask for a different table, but there will for sure be a next time. :)

First off, I live 5 minutes from here and drive by this place everyday. One day I saw the lights on and people sitting inside but there was no sign stating what this place was. In fact the only sign near here is the sign for the law firm that sits right above the restaurant. For a while I thought the place was just an extension of the law firm. Finally, a week ago I find out its a new restaurant through a friend who visited the establishment. Maybe a sign would serve them well, although I know when there is a new restaurant in Birmingham (or any place really) people tend to flock, so they probably don't even need the sign. Who knows with these crazy trends these days, maybe it's just cool to not have a sign anymore. So we went in for dinner a few days ago, mid-week/happy hour time and we had no wait and there were several tables open but the bar was full. The menu was interesting. A good variety of items including pizza, calzones and various entrees. Some things perplexed me. There's a whole section devoted to veggie sides but if you order an entree it comes with it's own sides so why would you order another side of vegetables, and they were priced like $7-$9 dollars. Funny enough, some of the sides under the veggies section sounded great, but I'm not about to pay $8 for a side of glazed carrots when my entree already comes with sides. Anyway, I found that really odd. Seafood was about 1/2 of the entree section, and most of the descriptions sounded good. I chose the salmon which sat atop some farro, with some fried kale and it was supposed to have chili oil. I didn't taste any chili oil, the fried kale was slightly greasy, but the farro was delicious. The salmon itself was waaaay over cooked to the point my boyfriend asked if I ordered chicken because it was nearly white. The bf ordered the fried chicken by the recommendation of our waiter and he said it was just ok. We also ordered an appetizer of the pasta balls which were just plain weird. I wouldn't get them again. They had absolutely no taste to them at all. The red sauce actually tasted decent which led me to believe that maybe the pizza they serve may not be half bad. This establishment also seems to choose to be one of those places that doesn't put salt and pepper on the table anymore. Now, I know this is starting or has been a trend, but it's seriously annoying. You can be the best chef in the world, but I usually add pepper to everything because I love it, much like people may like spicier foods. I'm also the same way with salt, I had to ask our waiter for salt and pepper. Very annoying, just keep it on the table, your food isn't perfect! Anyway, I may try this place again, maybe as a happy hour venue for some cocktails and a pizza, but I'm not impressed with the rest of the menu.

Great new spot in the typically (culinarily) boring Birmingham. We had been meaning to stop by for awhile, and wee concerned about getting a table for a buzzy place on a Friday night at 8, but were seated immediately. On advice, my husband and I split a salad, app and pizza. The portions were larger than we expected, but the beet and avocado salad was incredible, tre pizza was delicious, and seafood in tomato sauce was fresh and done perfectly, so it was a battle not to finish them. The staff was knowledgable and accommodating (for switching tables when we ran into some friends). We can't wait to go back!

Went here with my hubby and 3 other friends. To start out, the wait was 1 hour and 45 minutes and let me tell you, had I not been here with a group of friends to chat it up with, I would not have waited! We were actually seated in exactly that amount of time which was not the staffs fault, people were just not leaving quick enough however if you visit in the fall/winter be prepared to be cold, there is really nowhere for you to sit/stand and wait for your table- either you are blocking the front door or the aisle way or you need to go outside or even to your car and wait, in the summer I don't see waiting outside as a problem however we stood in the little entry way with this little skinny log bench before you get into the second door of the restaurant and it wasn't heated! Now on to the food. Our table got the bread app, ribs pizza and fried chicken. Everyone was satisfied - portions seemed a bit small to me but this is because I'm greedy I'm sure with the exception of the pizza which that's what I got and I must say it was good. Service was also good and actually we received our food very fast this is probably because they do NOT have many tables in this joint, everyone crowds the bar but actual tables.... I didn't count but it seemed to have maybe 20-30. For dessert the whole table ordered the oatmeal chocolate ice cream sandwiches which were sooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooood! FYI You have to ask for dessert since they currently do not have a dessert menu. Yes Ill definitely go back, but once the hype dies down, I will not wait that long again : ) THEY DO NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS- SIGH

I came in here on a Friday night with some friends a few weeks ago and can't wait to come back. We were seated in the bar section, which at first I wasn't thrilled about, but our server Katie was fantastic. She was super sweet and funny, she really made our experience there memorable. I took her suggestion and tried the blackened halibut, which was AMAZING. Definitely recommend!!

Awesome halibut special. First time here..sat at bar. Kind of loud but great setting, great selection and tasty food and good service from the bartenders. Def would recommend!!

This is a fantastic find in downtown Birmingham... The bar alone creates the perfect ambiance of a warm but edgy place to hang out on a Saturday night. The restaurant is at once rustic and industrial in appearance. Perfect for a group or a date night as long as you are willing to share! Try a little bit from each section of the menu, and don't miss out on the gelato/cookie dessert!

This place is the real deal, cut and dry!!!.... Yelp, give ten stars to this establishment! Ambiance... spot on! Food... Top Billin!!! Service.... Wow!!! These hard working ladies and gents are on top of things! The only bummer is not getting a bar seat when they are busy!!! I'm a repeat customer... last date of service 6/1/15... Last time of service... approx. 10:40pm. I highly recommend the chop salad and red potatoes! Thanks Market North End Staff for continually offering quality service, product, and atmosphere!!!

I hate to be one of those people that posts a negative review because of an interaction, but in this situation I feel a bit obligated... so here goes. My wife and I went here after a movie late on a Friday, on one of our rare date nights where we hired a babysitter. We sat by the bar which was crowded and loud, typical Birmingham crowd of older women trying to look young. Our food was OK, but nothing special - I had the ribs appetizer which was underseasoned and sauced, she had a goat cheese salad, and we split one of the pizzas. The pizza was the best part, charred nicely with a nice and greasy but not too greasy feel. Their beer selection is good and I like the decor. The service was fine. HERE IS THE ISSUE. I left a 10 dollar tip on a 55$ tab, and very clearly wrote the total in as 65. I checked my visa a few weeks later and saw a 120$ charge. I called Visa, they called the restaurant, and either the owner or manager spoke to me about it. She pulled my receipt and claimed it was a mistake - that the 65$ total was counted as a tip. But I doubt it. I don't think it is a scheme they are running here, but clearly a waitress or someone tried to double my bill and I had to catch them on it which doesn't make you feel good. The part that really bothered me is the manager or owner I spoke to did not apologize or reassure me in any way, but just told me she would reimburse me the overcharge and asked if that was satisfactory. Not the way to run a restaurant if you ask me - a little good will goes a low way, and a sincere apology and some reassurance that the "mistake maker" aka thief would be determined would have been nice, you know? A free round of drinks the next time we come in would have been a better way to handle it too I think. Stuff like this leaves a bad taste in your mouth and I will not go back, and I worry about the management/staff when stuff like this happens.

Was at Market recently on a Tuesday around 6pm or so. Happy Hour... but a Tuesday and the weather looked like it would be POURING soon... so I expected it to be slow. It was packed. Great vibe, great place, great service, great food. Only 10 seats at the bar as it is a "Bistro license" so if you want bar seating, know about that. Tiffany was the only Bartender. I sat at the bar. She was a ROCKSTAR. I will be back - just because of her. She smiled, answered questions, poured 10+ drinks at a time - and never looked stressed or annoyed that there wasn't another bartender for what looked like a Friday night crowd. She truly impressed me. I had a specialty pizza, and made a couple "changes" to it and the cooks were great at that too. A tad pricey, but for Birmingham, that's to be expected. Overall - EXCELLENT. *Remember your quarters as it is meter parking and you will be ticketed....

Great atmosphere. Decent amount of gluten free options. The salmon with kale salad is a must try. Can't wait for the winter to be over to check out their patio in the spring!

Friendly service, great ambiance, solid pizza (close to Biga's), and wine on tap with plenty more to offer! On the recommendation of friends we finally tried Market and I'm already looking forward to coming back. The hostess was really friendly greeting us with a big smile and then seating us in the middle of the dining room. Figuring it was going to get busy at 6 on a Wednesday she was nice enough to let us jump to a high-top along the wall. Then came our server, Adrienne, who truly couldn't have been any nicer. She was bubbly and sharp and made some really great suggestions starting with my cocktail...the Gentleman Calling, which I liked. For starters we tried the Pasta Fritters which were almost like an arancini but made with spaghetti in a light cream sauce, with peas added, rolled in breadcrumbs, fried and served over a fresh simple marinara. Three to a plate, these were pretty good but they didn't blow my mind. We also tried the Burrata cheese appetizer served with a dollop of pesto on top with banana peppers and roasted cherry tomatoes alongside toast points. Not having had burrata before it was a lot like fresh mozzarella with a creamy taste and a clean finish to it. Not too heavy and nicely presented I'd order this one again for sure. That said, I think these apps were a little heavy considering we were planning to order entrees too, so instead we opted to sample a pizza rather than full blown plates. And again Adrienne made some great recommendations pointing us towards the Tre pizza...leeks, red onion and ground fennel sausage perfection. Someone mentioned that the pizzas were uninspired, I didn't find that at all. I thought the combinations were smart and well thought out....so much so that we'll be back to try the rest of them. The menu is a little small but it has a lot to offer. The salads sound wonderful and the pasta is worth trying but plates like the salmon have me excited to come back. The space is comfortable and relaxed with wood as the main accent here providing a warmth to the spot. The clientele is definitely upscale and everyone seemed to be happy and enjoying themselves despite what other reviews said. For a date night I think this place will do just fine as long as your not in a rush. FYI they have wine on TAP which was actually pretty decent and for you gentlemen, they have Bell's Hopslam on tap also which is a rarity in itself. At least come check this place out, I think you'll dig it.

Had lunch with my wife and daughter at Market North End. The food was decent, but expensive relative to other "like" venues. The service staff was all female and attractive, but not overly friendly nor engaged with our table. The neighborhood ambiance was fantastic with open air views of Old Woodward. However, the table where we were seated had bar stools and were tough on our backs. The spicy slaw was really good.

Went there for an after dinner drink to finish off our wonderful sunday funday... I love that the Birmingham layout allows for a bit of restaurant hopping! Kristen King was our server, she was so sweet and attentive! My man and I felt very special even though we were only there for cocktails. Kristen noticed my uncertainty over choosing the perfect red wine and brought me a little sampling to ensure I was satisfied as well as educated in their selections! All of the food coming out of the kitchen smelled and looked amazing! Especially the hand made buffed bread... Next time wel be sure to come early for dinner! Excellent atmosphere and cool decor.. Top notch service and great location.

Overall, my wife and I had a very pleasant dinner at Market North End. We went on a very cold and snowy weekday in hopes of avoiding a long wait. Although no tables were available when we arrived, we were seated in about 10 minutes after ordering wine at the bar. The bar area is front and center and has an entire section without any chairs, which I'm assuming is to better serve drinks for a packed house. If it is less busy you may prefer to sit (we found the last 2 chairs) rather than stand and wait. We ordered a bottle of wine and although their list is slightly more compact than other Birmingham restaurants, the selections are well chosen. You may not find exactly what you are looking for, but it certainly can't be described as a bad list and the pricing is appropriate at roughly 100% markup for cheaper bottles and slightly less markup for higher end. The dining area is compact and casual. This is not a huge restaurant and it's mostly setup for couples and drinkers at the bar. It's not a great place for large parties or kids. I find it a laughable expectation that all establishments should be kid friendly. In many cases other diners looking for a night out are doing so to get a break from kids. So get a babysitter and leave them at home; we did. It's unfair to blame a restaurant for one's own lack of consideration. The menu is sort of all over the place with snacks, small plates, salads, ala cart vegetables, pizza, and calzones. Its an easy place to order a bunch of sharable items--which is what we did--instead of singular entres. We started with the pasta fritters-- deep fried pasta, cheese, and ham casserole balls. They are unusual and slightly under seasoned but have a great crunchy texture and go well with the accompanying red sauce. We would order them again. We shared a pizza and salad as our meal and thought both were good. The pizza crust is thin, but not as delicate as a Neapolitan style with a slightly crunchier texture and almost buttery taste. We found service to be very good and the multiple people we dealt with including bartenders, runners and waitstaff were all very friendly. Our bartender happily brought our wine over to our table for us, our server kept our wine and water glasses full, and our food was delivered in an appropriate time. She was also very patient with the people next to us who were basically incapable of deciding what to eat and then unhappy with what they were served. Definitely not the pretentious/aloof attitudes that tend to be commonplace among Birmingham waitstaff. We were very happy with our experience and will be back again.

Had the gem salad. The ingredients were very sparse and the meat had no seasoning. I touch of salt would have helped. One member of the table was served 10 minutes after the others- no apology, nothing. Never returning

Food and craft cocktails 5 stars, noise level 1 star (4 people at our table and I could only hear the person next to me shouting in my ear). So avoid the most crowded/noisy times and this place is AWESOME! I loved our apps (obvious by the fact that I was grilling our server for how they made the cilantro pesto for the bread, and I went home and made the burratta with tomato, peppers and grilled bread). My cucumber cocktail was delish too. I see a lot of reviews mention slow service but I was there on a Saturday night and we had a great waitress and our service was timely.

Three strikes and you are out! Why did I give Market 3 tries? Well the first time they were brand new and I thought -- cool ambience, lively nighttime spot...the fact we walked out after waiting an hour and a half for dinner because every time we checked with the hostess she seemed clueless and could never find our name--STRIKE ONE. The next time was with another couple we love and surprise-we were seated immediately. Of course we later realize that table was available because on one in their right mind would sit at this high top with horrible uncomfortable stools right by the door & patio. Our friends had to stand up each time a waiter with food trays had to get thru to the patio. STRIKE TWO! On the bright side...The food tasted good! Salad and pizza ... you can't mess that up! Now strike three --- sadly it's about their service AGAIN! It's been a year (or more) since they opened ... One would think a place could work out the kinks. We showed ip on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We were later than the brunch rush...as a matter of fact, the place was nearly empty. However, as the hostess lead us to a table in the stuffy back area, we passed customers asking her if she could find their waitress so they could pay and get on with their day (they'd been waiting a while). Then as she put us in the back (on a beautiful sunny day after a LOBG winter!) my husband asked if we could have the table up feint in the patio that was not cleared off yet. The cute hostess said YES, LET ME GET THAT CLEARED ... Then she walked away and did 10 other things first like re stacking menus and other trivial matters when you have a customer waiting. Honestly, it was so stuffy in the back I finally walked to the table an started clearing it. I know, NASTY IF ME, but I swear the hostess forgot she promised us the table. So, finally she cleared it, we sat down, and our meal began. You know what...the food is good. But the service is NOT. As we ate, we heard one of the other two tables of people begging for their check while the other table begged for menus (how the hostess seated them w/out menus???). Nothing was going to bother me on this gorgeous day, and we had lots of time to enjoy our kids & the sun, but the service was excruciatingly slow.... Needless to say, there are so many choices if restaurants for pizza and salad...,we won't be back to suffer through a place that can't simply serve their customer.

Tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. We went around 5:30, assuming that was early enough to get a table. There wasn't a wait and we were seated immediately. The space was pretty roomy and cool. I will say that the lighting is a bit off as every time a server passed our table, we lost light due to the shadow. I like the placement of the bar in the middle though. Our server, Andrew, was awesome! He was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is a bit confused- a page of pizzas, half page of veggies and salads and half of entrees, so it seemed a little all over the place. Very reasonably priced though. The house bread with the spreads was different, but a nice change. The drinks are way overpriced ($15 for Johnny black on rocks). My husband had a pizza that he said was great. I had garlic soup (superb) and Italian chop salad. The salad was a little tasteless but ok. The highlight of the meal was hands down the chocolate torte with caramelized peanuts and a TO DIE FOR goats milk caramel drizzle- yum yum yum! Overall, I think the place is a cool casual restaurant to grab a bite when you're looking for something more reasonable in Birmingham. We'll definitely be returning!

I was out with five other friends for a birthday celebration. We were prepared to wait as the bar area was fun and vibrant. BUT... TWO HOURS AND THIRTY MINUTES later, we still were not seated. This place has an issue with turning tables. We witnessed a group of people sitting at a table for over 30 minutes with their food wrapped up and the bill paid... The staff was rude as we tried to inquire about our table. They were very arrogant and dismissed us as if we were lucky to be at their establishment. They missed out on a large party who was excited to try out their food. We did try the pizza at the bar, but we all agreed that we've had better. The drinks were good. Very disappointed in the service and the wait. Definitely not going back and wonder how they will make this place last if they can't seat people for dinner. We were able to be immediately seated at Tallulah (down the street) and were treated extremely well. The owner seemed embarrassed as a restaurateur with our experience at Market.

I have been here quite a bit and I really like it! Everything I've tried had has been really tasty. If your interested in a light meal try the bread/labeneh and the market salad....yum! My only suggestion to the owner... Replace the turquoise chairs they are very uncomfortable.

New restaurant in Bham, and it's really good. Had the lamb appetizer as well as the dry rubbed ribs. Both were excellent, but the ribs were the best dry rub ribs I've ever had. Very friendly staff, and the atmosphere is really cool. Nice patio as well. Will definitely be back!!

Great addition to the bham dinning scene. Different then most everything around. Design is excellent, menu is creative and location is great for easy parking. Biggest complaint would be it's not summer and I can't get drunk on the patio and watch the pretty people parade. I like pizza and I like beer, this place has good both. Had the pizza with egg and a racer 5 IPA and was a happy person.

Upscale, trendy and good food! It's the place to be I'm Birmingham. We called ahead and only had to wait 30 minutes for a table. The menu is very diverse and unique. We loved the appetizers and the bread and dips are delicious! They have small plates, salads, pizza and calzones or entrees for dinner. Great dessert menu. The cookie sandwhich was unique and yummy. The only reason did 4 stars and not 5 is that it's very loud and difficult to talk.

Ehh....it was fine. I expected more out of this place. Owned and operated by the same people as Luxe and Salvatore Scallopini I had high hopes and this place fell well short. Went there on a Sunday night at 630 expecting a short wait and I was surprised to find the place empty. Got seated promptly and waited 10 minutes for a waitress to come by and offer us water. I've got to be honest, other than the gentleman making the pizzas, not a single employee smiled, looked happy, seemed to enjoy their job, or wanted to wanted to help. I even overheard a woman (presumably a manager?) snickering with a waitress about another table when they sent their pizza back. Honestly, i've never seen less friendly, less enthusiastic, less enjoyable service staff. No interaction. When we asked for her opinions on pizzas all she said was "they are both good." One of the ladies we were with was pregnant and when we asked if the cheese was pasteurized she said "I think so." She didn't offer to check, didn't offer to turn around and walk 2 steps to ask the man making the pizzas, just a "I think so." The food was ok. Started with the wings and ribs as i'm a big fan of the wings at Luxe. They were fine, no where near Luxe level but they were ok. We had some soups and salads which were again fine, nothing wrong with them, but nothing to write home about. We then had a few pizzas. Again, they were ok. All-in-all, it was ok. I expected more, wanted it to be more, and unfortunately it failed to meet my expectations.

Second visit. Got the stink eye from the hostesses (there were 3) was told it would be a 30 minute wait. I took a look around and found 3 empty tables and asked if we could sit at one of them. They said something like "I guess, I must have missed those". Seriously!! All three of them were clueless. Anyway, the food is decent, but overpriced. Beer selection is adequate, but limited.

VERY BUSY . Market North End Well I decided to give the Market End a try. Went in. Half hour wait which was reasonable. . Extremely well designed restaurant. One of the best designed restaurant I have seen in awhile. Very comfortable looking place. Very busy. But that is where it ends. The Crowd is made up of a bunch of single people who all look lonely and sad and lost and just look at their I-phones all the time. The staff does a great job. The staff is what I would say is good in ability and service. . I went back a second time to give it another try. This is true. I was at the bar and two girls were next to me crying and hugging. I was on one side of them and another guy was on the other side of them. They were crying that they were old at 35 and not pretty any longer. Truly crying. The guy on the other side looked at one of then and said "you are still sorta pretty and do you want to go home with me" She said "yes". What she was saying was you have just validated me that i am still pretty enough. The wines were good by the bottle. On to the Food. Above average bar food. Pizza was good. Other items on the menu were acceptable to very good. Reasonable prices for the area. it is busy so it is right for lots of people.

I went in early November 2013, so at the time, the place was quite new. On a weekday it took about 30 minutes for a female friend and me to get a table. We got specialty cocktails at the bar which were $10 each, pretty good, blueberry one was a bit sweet. We were seated at a high-top by the bar which was not a great spot. Since the place is small, the walking alleyways are snug. At one point, we had a nice lady flop her hair into our pizza. Nevertheless, the experience was a good one and MNE is definitely the hot spot in birmingham right now. I heard that the son of Luxe opened this place because he didn't have enough responsibility at the other restaurants. Can anyone deny or confirm this rumor? Side note: I preferred this place to Bistro Joes.

First time visit. Server friendly, took our drink order of a club soda and a tonic, both with lime. Brought two club sodas, second request, another club soda, third request the same. Turns out, they sell tonic by the bottle, my question, doesn't anyone know this??? Ordered a fennel sausage and leek pizza, received a mushroom and pepperoni pizza. Seriously??? Of course, they did get the lentil soup right though but how difficult can that be. Soup was good, pizza was greasy, the white sauce was very greasy. Not even a three star in our book!

Okay, the jokes on me. We tried it again. Friday night, again. It was great. Great time at the bar, waiting for a table, which was no where near the wait we thought it would be, food was very good. Still loud though, but once we were seated it wasn't too bad. I can't believe some idiot thought they should bring their toddler there! Some places are for adults....mea culpa. Great place

Great service, fresh food and nice ambience. The pasta fritters starter was excellent. Reminded me of the risotto balls at 220 Merrill. The calamari salad was flavorful. It had perfectly fried calamari. The pappardelle pasta with sausage and roasted mushrooms was perfect. Fresh pasta cooked just right and rich flavor. Our server Vickie was friendly, knowledgable and attentive.

Went there for the first time with a party of 6 on 12/28/13. They told us the wait would be approximately 25 minutes, turned out to be closer to two hours! We ordered drinks at the bar and waited. Bartenders were attentive and friendly, can't say the same for the wait staff. I'm not sure we would have gotten seated if not for a member of our party continually asking the status of our table. Our waitress was less than friendly and barely cracked a smile. The food was good but took forever to come out. The night ended when a guy at the bar who had been staring at my wife and her two friends all night put his hands on her below the hip as she walked by him coming from the bathroom. After informing me of what happened, I verbally confronted him. The manager came up to us and ushered us away essentially allowing the guy to stay. What kind of restaurant allows a guy to inappropriately touch other customers and not kick him out?? Needless to say, we will NEVER return. I was born and raised in the Birmingham area and we are telling everyone we know about our disappointing experience.

I went here with some friends for lunch. I really like the way this place was designed. We ate at the bar and I had sparkling wine on tap with chambord. This is my favorite drink and I kind of liked how the champagne was on tap. We also got some sort of meatball appetizer and I do not remember the other item. I was not a big fan of the menu as I do not like pizza (all the kids fault). So i cant really rate the food accurately. I loved the service because when I looked up it was a one of the moms I know from my kids school. I feel like she reflected this place well. Laid back and put together all in one. I did like the feel and I thought the people who were there seemed like the normal bham crowd that lives there. Its a great place to kick back with friends.

Really nothing special food-wise. Except the avocado/beet salad was awesome. The one thing that really bothered me was the service. There were 3 of us. My salad came before the appetizer and when I asked the waitress said "the salads just come up faster." That's not how it works. One ordered the salmon and the others ordered calzones. The salmon came out first. We sat thinking that the calzones would be right out. 5 minutes later we asked the waitress about the calzones and she said "those are from the other kitchen so they take longer." WT? I thought we were at One restaurant..? The calzones came out FINALLY. And they we're def not worth the wait. They were just ok. The waitress's attitude was horrible. One of the people on my group is a restaurant owner and I've worked in many myself. The service attitude was poor. And nothing was offered until the end when she offered to buy us a dessert. We didn't want one, so what's the point? The layout was not thought out either. By the time we left we could barely get by the bar to escape. Sorry owners, Luxe is better.

Disclaimer - I'm the fool who gave them another try. Yet another terrible experience waiting 45 minutes for food and they wouldn't alter a dish to suit my needs. So for sure this time, never coming back.

My wife ordered the Black Grouper special and I had the Halibut special...both were totally overcooked and the amatuer dry rub seasonings were awful...not to mention the outrageous amount of salt that was use in preparing these diahes. Never going back...way overpriced, and terrible experience.

Loved everything I ate. Best pizza I have had in a long time. The pasta fritters are insanely good-a must try if you are not on one of those evil carb-free diets. The decor is beautiful, the owners kind and the food really, really good. Go.

I'll give it two stars rather than one only because the decor is nice and the outside patio space was well done. The food was boring. Soup was decent but nothing special. The salad was mostly lettuce with a few other unmemorable items. No special dressing or plentiful veggies. I told the waitstaff it was not good. Her response was sorry (not "we'll fix it" or "come back on us" reflecting poor training or lack of customer focus on the part of management). The prices were too high for the quality. I had an Arnold Palmer and had to pay for refills in a teeny tiny glass. $2.50 per swig. Incredibly disappointed...

Fun Thursday night out! The restaurant and bar was packed with a lively fun crowd. Small menu...but great options. Three of us split the shrimp, cauliflower, beet salad and pizza (can't remember the name - had spinach and ricotta maybe?!). Everything was delicious. The cauliflower was my favorite. For dessert we tried the oatmeal cookie with gelato - only has a bite of the cookie - would've been better if it was warm.

This was my fifth time eating at Market and will be my last. My husband and I wanted a quick simple dinner early Saturday night. Although all the tables at the restaurant front were empty except for one, we could not be seated there since we were a party of 2. The hostess brought us to a small side table that was so dirty she apologized and went to get a rag to clean it and our seats. We asked if we could order pizza with two different halves and were told no as they are too thin. We looked at the menu and decided to just order pizza Margareta with pepperoni on half. The waitress told us they could add the pepperoni but it had to be on the whole pizza. I could just pick off the pepperoni! We decided to leave. I told the hostess on the way out what happened and she also replied, "We can't make different halves because out pizzas are too thin". I was only asking to leave off an ingredient, not change the pizza. We went to happy hour at Flemings and had several delicious appetizers....one a steak flatbread with blue cheese on one side only! I would mention the chef was happy to fill our request, the hostess told us to sit anywhere we liked, and the restaurant was spotless.

I love the atmosphere and food, but the service was disappointing as one of the servers really offended me. As a woman who often pays, it is easy for me to notice when a female server is directing all of her cordiality to the man who she presumes is paying, which I think is a very low level thing to do. One thing a server should not do is be sexist, because the man took me here to treat me and to share with me a nice experience. If I had said no when he asked me out, we wouldn't have wined and dined there, so I deserve some hospitality and respect as well for being a patron of the business. All she wanted me to do was rack up the tab so she strictly and deliberately talked to me about ordering things, but her friendly demeanor, conversance and eye contact occurred significantly towards man I was with. She was the tall, blonde waitress named Stephanie. Service like this is wrong and women need to learn how to respect one another equally. Maybe men like getting the special treatment from young, pretty waitresses, but not if they have to hear the woman he took out complain the whole ride home when her service was compromised because of bigot-minded hustlers like Stephanie.

I really enjoy Market North. I've had the salmon, celery fennel salad, kale ceasar, butter nut squash, calzone, pizza. Everything was really good. Nice vibe as well.

Well, I had high hopes for this place and really wanted to like my experience here but alot of things fell short. The concept and menu of this place is great. The choices on the menu are really universal and all over the map. The food we had tasted well seasoned but everything was cold. Cold lentil soup, cold hanger steak, over done cold salmon in my salad. And let us not forget the very cold cappucinno i received at the end of the meal. Top off with a very slow and unenthusiastic server as well, you have a pretty bad experience. The unforgivable aspect of this was we got there very early to avoid crowds so they wouldnt be rushed or busy. That didnt matter at all. It was still lousy. Maybe it will get better who knows, but for now i will stay away.

The interior is supercool and the location is great. No doubt, this place will do well bc its a neighborhood spot. We went with a few other couples and the consensus was "Fun place, God awful food & menu". Here's why: I think they are trying to avoid duplicating items from their sister restaurants across the street. But the menu suffers for it. It is bizarre with no rhyme or reason. Its also lacking certain entree staples like a chicken/steak ceasar salad. A few of us girls were in the mood for entree salads and all the salads were strange and atypical given that pizza is a major item. The pizza was just ok- pretty plain, but pizzeria Biga, another local pizza bar, has way better personal pizzas. So all it did was make me wish I was at BIga. Funny thing, one of our friends is a guy we joke has the palate of a 5 year old- and he LOVED the pizza. Hopefully there are more like him than the rest of us. It was just very plain tasting. At BIga, the most simple pizzas are so delicious, here they were flavorless. The papardelle was RAW and the meatsauce was disgusting- literally dog food. I didnt eat it. The "middle eastern" items- lamb app, chicken app, chicpea stew- all awful- overcooked, low quality. I dont know why they are trying to do middle eastern like that bc there are a few Lebanese restaurants in the area that are far far better for items like that. They need more & better desserts. The cookie is good, but they need a more extensive dessert menu. Girls love dessert. I dont get why restaurants dont just go to the grocery store and buy a few cakes every day, you dont need a pastry chef to satisfy a sweet tooth. My ideas to make it better: add some entree salads that are more standard and better tasting. And emphasis on the dressings- Im not a fan of your salads, theyre not very good. your chicken is terrible. Overcooked and dry. your sausage is also really bad. bad texture and a little gamey in flavor. add some sandwhiches like a cheeseburger or paninis. LIke a cuban panini with ham and cheese would be delish. add a few more pasta dishes- maybe a vegetarian/pescetarian improve your appetizers since people are there for drinks and just want to nibble: coconut prawns, sliders. cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, tacos, Kill the mediterranean items theyre gross.

Cute place....VERY loud in the front and at the bar...a bit better in back and on the patio. Great salads, pizza and appetizers. Wouldn't take a reservation for a large party at 2:00 on a Friday afternoon which would have helped them be better prepared.

This is a bar that happens to serve food. Ditsy waitstaff that seemed terribly annoyed at even the most minor questions. And the food we ate, a few appetizers and a pizza were just so-so. It might be nice in warm weather for a drink, not much else.

Really didn't enjoy this place, from the service to the food... Nice for a drink, but that's about it.

Great restaurant. Great food, friendly service and great atmosphere. Came here for Valentines day. They do not do reservations, which was a little concerning. When we got there we grabbed a drink at the bar and waited for about 5-10 minutes for a table. We did call ahead for seating though. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu, which was very impressive considering they have only been open for a few months. I ordered the salmon and it was exceptional. Desert was great as well. They also had a pretty impressive array of drink choices. Wines, whiskeys and beers! Nothing but good things to say about Market North End! Great place for a date or just a dinner with friends/family.

Stopped in with my fiancé for dinner. There was a wait so we chose to sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited. The entire place has a great look to it, not your typical Birmingham place, kind of a neighborhood bar feel. We were greeted at the bar by Tessa, she was very helpful and made our time at the bar enjoyable. We were seated and had a really wonderful dinner, the food was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the pizza and pasta fritters. There are plenty of great places to eat in Birmingham please add this to that list.

BYOB, bread that is! Waiter offered us "House Bread, which was not complimentary...included ONE half pita essentially toasted with oil on it...not worth it. Lentil soup and Italian salad great. Be sure to actually look at beers on tap...no menu for them and waiter knows nothing about them...brought me wrong beers twice! Not quite up to par to Luxe.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
