I first visited Sauce's location in 1968 when it was called Mr.Ed's. It remained that for many years and was a favorite of mine. In fact, in 1968 I had my first "legal" drink at Mr. Ed's. I was crushed when, after several reincarnations, it closed, seemingly for good. To my delight, the present owners, Kim & Dave, reopened it as the greatest Italian style restaurant....Sauce. I am an avowed regular now. They call me "Chianti Dave" as I love their house Chianti, especially on Mondays when it is half price at $2.50 a glass. I love the food, staff, atmosphere. The steaks are great. I highly recommend Sauce for lunch or dinner, or just anytime! They make a killer lasagna called "Grandma Merle's Lasagna." It is to die for along with SEVERAL glasses of Chianti. I also love the great salads! I'd eat there EVERYDAY if I could afford it!!

No idea how I missed reviewing Sauce until now. This is our go-to spot for a nice dinner, and wine selection, in the area. House Merlot is a bit on the sweet side for a Merlot but it is good. I would stay away from the House Pinot Grigio - way too sweet. We had the Monday meatball special, and cheese bread. Hearty, cheesy and just the right amount of garlic. Previous visit I tried the pesto gnocchi dish. That I would recommend, very well done. Service was spot on; we could not have asked for better.

I went for lunch, it wasn't busy. The bread was excellent, and I had a very tasty portabello sandwich with delicious fries. The service was decent. It was a good value for high quality food. I look forward to trying this place again. Update: came a second time, the service improved, and my friend and I had a very good lunch.

Started off great, however, we were seated next to a super drunk table of ladies where the birthday girl eventually threw up all over the place. I'll get back to that. Good initial service, got some appetizers, all were good. All of the food was tasty, but as the table next to us got drunker and messier, management seemed to stay away. When the destroyed lady puked, no employees intervened to help. There was a guy with the group that was acting like he worked there, and very well may have. He was the one that brought the puker her last shot and eventually walked the plate of puke into the kitchen. This entire episode and how it was handled completely destroyed our evening. I would have complained to a manager except the only employee I saw after things fell apart was a trainee. In summation-food was really good. Our initial service was great. Trainee was outstanding. The way the drunkeness was handled was awful.

Nice service and management. The food is alright. The alfredo was nothing I would return for... same goes for the house salad. The menu has many options. Clean and comfortable dining experience.

Spaghetti sauce and meatballs had no flavor. I can't recommend this placed based on the meal I had. Did not get a salad and I not bread and butter to snack on. Didn't get and garlic bread with the meal. Would have been better going to another place. Was very disappointed with the meal. Placed looked nice and had a lot of reviews. So sad they are cheap on seasonings.

After reading some of the other reviews, all I can say is wow. I have visited here 8+ times, and every occasion was positive. I have had the Pizza, Lasagna, Burger, Spaghetti, and several items on the appetizer menu. I am batting 8 for 8. This place is very crowded on the weekends and some weeknights for a reason. I would have visited more than eight times , but some nights I could not get a seat. I like Sauce.

My boyfriend's parents brought me here a while back and I really loved it. I've been back several times now and had all great experiences. I am not even super adventurous when it comes to trying new things but I keep trying something different every time here and it's always great! The atmosphere is wonderful. =)

Really excited about the new sparkling wines they are supposed to be getting in. A few of my friends and I have really fallen in love with the new line of Michigan sparking wines from M. Lawrence and when we asked the owner he grabbed a pen and paper and wrote it down and said sure he would get it in. Can not wait.

Best local dining option in Adrian. As name implies ... fabulous sauce. Pizza is cooked perfect - thin and really good. Love the eggplant & also chix parm. Loft style bar up front and relaxed tables by kitchen in back. Love this place

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We try to eat here at least once a week. We have taken people from out of town here twice , its so great to have a place that we can be proud to share. Im Italian and NEVER EAT in Italian restaurants unless they have been recommended. I didnt get here for a year after they opened. We got a gift certificate for christmas , and have been going back ever since. Always get the calamari because it is the best I have ever eaten. The salads are excellent, pizza is great (except for the shrimp special) steak is perfect, chicken marsala.. Its pricey but we make it a priority. We usually spend $65-70 per visit for two, because we always get appetizer, drinks, salad, and sometimes split entree. We always have great service, and I like seeing the owner come to the tables.

Service was mediocre at best, repeatedly over heard complaining employees, food served without flatware, and my "medium well" steak was rare. I probably should have kept it safe and ordered a pizza since it's Italian and a pub, bizarre.

I love their thin crust Pizza as well as the Lasagna. Get here early if you can, because some nights it is packed. One of the few places in town that has Peroni Italian Beer. Yum.

Thank you Yelp and all those who post. In Adrian for the night and wanted a nice place to eat. I got to Sauce in between lunch and dinner so I had a pizza, which was a great choice. Loved the thin crust and it was cooked perfectly. The wait staff very friendly and helpful. The owner was in and thanked me for coming in. Will definitely return when in town. . next time for dinner, menu looked yummy...

Went there with a group on a Sat night and it was loud and crowded. The food was ok, we had pizza and cheesy bread, which came with dipping sauce that my fiance didn't like at all and I only had a bit of. The service was slow, but that's most likely since it was crowded. I was told by a couple of the people in my group that Adrian doesn't have many good places to eat, so I am rating it one star higher than I would if it was in Toledo.

Best blush sauce ever. EVER! I had low hopes - how would a pasta bar and grill perform in Adrian, MI? "Pleasantly surprised" would be an understatement. "Shockingly great" is a better way to to put it.

Great Service - Great Atmosphere - Great Food! My favorite is Eggplant Parmesan, but I am trying new things. We have always had exceptional service too! My husbands only complaint.... I always want to go there!

I've been here twice, for lunch and dinner, and had two great experiences. Great food, great ambiance, great service. And a killer 2 for 1 wine special (I think it was Tuesday night). This is one of the best restaurants in Adrian. It is almost like a little slice of Ann Arbor transplanted here. Ignore the reviews from haters, this place is legit.

I have been here four times and the service has been horrible each and every time. Waitstaff is very attentive to chit chatting with each other, but there is zero interest in customers. The food is okay. Sadly, Adrian doesn't have any nicer restaurants or places to have a cocktail, so maybe the owners feel that being the only game in town exempts them from having to provide good customer service.

We went in for lunch and the lunch menu to be nice. I ordered off of the specials and Wife ordered from menu. The spinach salad with vinaigrette was good and turkey club with fries was very good too. Atmosphere was hip and service solid.

It smells and looks great but the food is horrid. Chef Boyardee is better than the crap they serve here.

I tried Sauce three times, with similar results every time. The service is weak, which means the owner is a poor manager. The food is on par with fast food Italian, and worse in some ways. The veal was disgusting, the chicken over cooked and tough and the sauces flavorless. Overall, I was disappointed. I really wanted to find something I would like about Sauce. The bread was the closest thing to that.

I looked forward to eating lunch here, as it looked very nice from the outside. Well, it looked nice. The onion rings are described as having coconut in them. Sounds great, and I eagerly awaited their arrrival. I shouldn't have. The coating/batter on the onion rings was utterly drenched in grease. The coating simply slide off them. Yuck. I was left with a mass of grease, coating and onion. The burger patty was hand-formed, but not at all flavorful. Also, it was smaller than expected. I had asked for it medium, but it had a raw interior. The bun, to their credit, was high quallity and very good, not the usual white bread disaster. UPDATE: We gave Sauce a second try. This was in the evening. The onion rings were better this time around. Crispy, and no coating sliding off. We only recieived 4 large onion rings, however. They were too thick/large, and fried for too long. The calamari we ordered was SUPERB, very fresh, very flavorful and NOT the bread crumb coated disaster usually recieved in many dining venues. The chicken pesto sandwich I ordered was okay. It needed more basil flavor. The bread used was the worst part. Instead of being the crisp, crusty ciabatta bread, they used one of those soft, too thick, prepackaged ciabatta style rolls. This didn't work. The soup (a creamy crab soup) fellow diners had was truly wonderful. The hostess was fast, friendly and very professional. The same cannot be said of the waitstaff. Again, with one exception, too inexperienced and inattentive. I agree with other posters, the waitstaff doesn't pay attention to the needs of the patrons. They chit-chat among themselves, or ignore the customer after they are served. The hostess is very nice, but the waitstaff needs to improve. A man stopped by the table to see how things were. Why did he only speak to ONE member of the party, rather than address the table as a group? He walked off before I had the chance to point out why I was not happy with the meal. Oh well, it is doubtful I will be returning anyway. He was also far too casually dressed, so I am assuming he was the owner. But, as an owner, it would be nice to see him dressed a little more appropriately for a restaurant. Also, people who were seated well after us were served before us. The menu was too limited, IMO. Our server was friendly when at the table, but the help seemed uninterested in the customers. I had to flag her down for a refill on the beverage. The hostess was zombie-like. Help was all young, as far as I could see. This was during the day. What, no older, more experienced adults? The place is clean, and decor is simple but attractive. Restrooms were clean.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
