You should read the reviews at the bottom that "are not currently recommended." Those reviews are the most accurate reviews. Been summering in York Beach for about 50 years. I like that this place offers the music, but their food is absolutely terrible and the service is very poor. Of course, you're in York Beach, and you're going to have a hard time finding good food.

Found this awesome joint after longingly searching for a good restaurant in York that actually WASN'T a seafood place. If your goal is lobster, this isn't the place because they specialize in non seafood decadents. The Club Sandwich was amazing, comparable to what you would find in the North End of Boston and their fries are the best I've ever had. The Garlic Fries were incredible. We went back the night after for dinner and tried the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread with a side of fries. Just the right amount of food, and you could tell everything was fresh. A lot of time and effort went into the menu, decor, and ambiance of this place and it should be recognized! Will be back our next trip to York.

This restaurant was a huge let down overall. The good: mixed drinks, and they didn't skimp on the wine in terms of amount. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The bad: 1- Mussels were the size of a dime. 2- Crab cakes had hardly any crab in them... Tasted like breadcrumbs. 3- Lobster roll had THREE PIECES of lobster meat in it. This is no exaggeration. I wish I had taken a picture of it. And it was $18 dollars! The amount of lobster meat in that roll was the stingiest I've ever seen, especially while being right on the coast. So disappointing. 4- The baked stuffed haddock was terribly overlooked, to the point that it was curled up into a ball. 5- The veggie and goat cheese flatbread was dry, and had no flavor. My family spent over $200 dollars on this meal. We are from Maine and were extremely disappointed-- we want to advise others who are perhaps not from Maine and are on vacation-- don't waste your time here. It is overpriced for VERY subpar food.

Awesome place! We came off season so the menu was limited but still delicious! The live music makes for a great atmosphere! Will definitely be back!

Amazing from start to finish. This is one of my favorite spots on the York Beach strip. Right across from Short Sands Beach and the view is great. We had a wonderful server and they have a great beer & wine selection. Salads were fresh and quite possibly the best Caesar salad I have ever had. The dressing was just perfect. I got the lobster Mac and Cheese which was $21, and it was worth every single penny. They do not skimp on the lobster and it comes in an amazing white cheese sauce with curly shells. My boyfriend ordered the $19 BBQ tips and rosemary fries. Both were cooked exactly to his order. This was a wonderful dinner. We would have loved to have sit outside, but the rain and cold kept us inside. Still a wonderful night and they had a live band as well! Not many of these little places get live music! We will be back for sure!!

We were referred here from family. What a great time, we will be back. The staff were all friendly, the food was great and the drinks were spot on. I like the spiced up marinara with the calamari. The croutons were perfect in the Cesar salad and I highly recommend the buffalo chicken flat bread.

Stopped in with my girlfriend to have a drink. Live music was awesome. Enough room to get up and dance. The place was packed we ended up staying to closing time. Would definitely go again, specially if they have live music again!

  • Shelly B.

Meal here was better than most places in the York Beach area. Don't get the Caesar Flatbread though unless you just want a salad on flatbread..cuz that's what it is. However, the Korean tips and lobster tail were yummy as was the lobster mac and cheese! Also, I think these guys have the best fries in town.

Just so-so. Yes, we dined at the tail end of a busy Labor Day weekend. Right away, our waitress told us they were out of about 10 items or so. Luckily, they weren't out of the items we wanted. My husband had the twin lobster and he loved it. I had the steak tips and liked them, but didn't love them. They came paired with French fries covered with cheese. French fries were delicious, but just not what I was in the mood for. Kids loved their meals. Waitress was very kind and efficient. Also, since it's the season, flies were literally on us the entire time. I know it's a nit-picky thing, but it was just uncomfortable as the flies were on our food and under the table (we are inside). Perhaps ceiling fans would help this situation? But, possibly easier to suggest than to do, just my two cents. Good beers and wine.

We went for lunch and we were not disappointed. The BLT is FABULOUS! Buttery bread and crispy bacon. The PEI mussels in a wine/herb broth were savory and delicious. We're so happy that we stopped here.

This place is very nicely decorated and, from afar, seems like a cool place to hang out. However, once you experience the wait staff, frozen food meals and poorly made drinks it becomes obvious that it is nothing more than another tourist trap. I've frequented this place numerous times always with the same result - disappointment. The last time I was in there I order a Makers Manhattan. It was $13.50 and absolutely undrinkable. There was barely any whiskey, no trace of any bitters, no cherries and I'd say it was greater than 50% vermouth. Going in for a beer and to listen to some live music is about the only recommendation I can provide - I wouldn't waste my money on the food or mixed drinks.

Horrible horrible food and service. Nicely tried to talk to manager and he was an absolute jerk. We go to York every year with friends and no one will ever go again!

Absolutely amazing! Service with a smile. Food was fantastic atmosphere was great. It was like we had 10 waitresses not 1. Every person helped but our waitress was excelent. Speedy service! A bit pricey however 5 stars for how we were treated! I will drive the 1.5 hrs again for sure!

I never review resteraunts, but I felt obligated due to the low quality of food. The calimari tasted horrible, and it's hard to make horrible fried food. The garlic parmesan fries were subpar, but that being said the beer was ok. If ur looking for a spot close to the beach, this is it, the food is costly and below average but the view is prime.

  • Elisa S.

Not a pleasant experience here. The service was not well and food is sub par. The waitress started off friendly greetings but did not come back frequently when we ordered drinks throughout the night. They also kicked out my kids after 10. I'm sure there are better places in the York area to eat.

Great location but be prepared for immediate evacuation of the intestinal track. The food used to be good but this past year or two, the menu has been diminished to greasy bar food....grease as in oil that smells and tastes like it has been used one too many times and has turned rancid.

Party of 4 at 9 o'clock on a summery Sunday night. Looking for dinner and a fun atmosphere. We approached the hostess station as a young woman was approaching with menus. "Is there a wait right now?" we asked. She barely looked up and responded, "I'm not the hostess," turned and walked away. The hostess quickly ran over from busing a nearby table and seated us with a smile. The waitress at our table was very helpful with suggestions and spent several minutes answering menu questions. We finally decided on a bowl of clam chowder, two fried haddock sandwiches, a cheesy crab dip and a vegetarian potsticker meal. The live music started, a female on keyboard and male on guitar, and we were very satisfied and entertained. It was loud but not too loud for live music. The two haddock sandwiches and the potsticker meal arrived at the table as the waitress informed us the cheesy dip (my sister's meal) would be right out. We waited for five minutes munching on french fries. Finally the dip showed up and we all dug in. The haddock sandwiches were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside but had absolutely no seasoning on the fish or in the breading. The cheesy dip was a flavorless melt of cream cheese with no seasoning. The potsticker meal was drowned in a teriyaki sauce but the vegetables were well cooked. The clam chowder never appeared. While eating we heard two waitresses standing right next to our table complaining to each other about how horrible the hostess is. When we got the check the clam chowder was on the bill. When we informed the waitress there was no apology. She just took the check away and came back with a new total. On the way out I kindly told the manager that overall the experience was okay but the food was very bland, any seasoning would be appreciated. His response was less than enthusiastic and again, no apology for an unsatisfactory experience. Overall assessment: The staff is apathetic to the customer experience. The food wasn't terrible but extremely forgettable. I would have paid $40 for the meal but was extremely unhappy paying $70. They should either close their kitchen or try to make bar food. This is kind of a tourist trap. Don't order food. Only go for drinks and music.

Went here about a year ago and had amazing service and the most delicious homemade pickles. Went again today and the scallops were delicious but the pickles were not the same ones we had liked so much. The service was mediocre not terrible but not great either. The food came out quickly though.

This place is the worst in town. The service is awful and the manager is a horrible person with no sense of customer service. He is so arrogant and doesn't care at all for the guests. Large groups beware! I was there with a large group who had reserved the place in advance. Inn on the Blues? Never again.

I was in York Beach and realizing it was getting late so dropped in here because it was easy and accessible. Being from the West Coast I of course wanted lobster for the second time today and what I got was fine. I was alone so I just sat at the bar however the food was good. Just had a simple lobster roll, more for the sake of making it easy. The serving size was solid and it tasted great. I am a total tourist however it was more than enough to make me happy!

If I had to sum up a review with only four words they would be : Don't eat the food. The location is great, right off of the beach, and they do have dancing on the weekends, which is why my girlfriend and I went there last Saturday night. The band was okay and the dance space small but adequate, but the food and service was pretty bad. We waited an eternity for our dinner. My girlfriend ordered crab cakes and a salad and I ordered a hamburger and fries. The food was tepid when (finally) delivered to our table, and the crab cakes were so oily that she could not eat them. They also had no taste. We complained to our waiter - something we NEVER as a rule do - and after speaking to his manager, removed the item from our bill. She ordered the clams and they were passable. I on the other hand, had a very bad reaction to the hamburger and I think I got food poisoning from it. Bottom line - we will not eat there again, but will go back to dance and have a beer. It's too bad though. If the food was even passable, the Inn on the Blues would be a spectacular destination for a fun evening.

How are you a restaurant in Maine and not know how to serve a LOBSTaH ROLL??? I stopped with my family for lunch this past weekend. I've been there a few times in the past and usually have a good time. I ordered the lobster roll and a 1/2 dozen oysters. The server brought the oysters out on a warm plate and like the plate, the oysters were room temperature. If you're going to serve oysters get some shaved ice...This is pretty basic stuff. Oysters are served COLD, not room temperature. Next came the lobster roll which was lobster meat on a hamburg bun (they call it a brioche roll to be fancy but I would have been happier with an actual hot dog bun). This is how lobster rolls are supposed to be served. The portion was fine and it was mainly claw meat which is good but again, the plate came out almost too hot to handle. How do you serve a lobster roll on a hot plate??? Dear Inn on the Blue management, Take some of your plates and put them in a cooler so if you are going to serve a lobster roll you can pull out an ice-cold plate to serve it on.... Then invest in a couple bags of shaved ice and keep your oysters submerged in it until they are served. After an order comes in, open the oysters and arrange them on a COLD plate of shaved ice with appropriate garnish. Thanks... ME Lastly...this is Short Sands, not The Hamptons.... $10 for a mixed drink is a bit much...

We spend 2 nights in the Sunset Room and made a visit to the restaurant on the first floor and a visit to the bar on the 2nd floor. The location couldn't have been better for someone who just wanted to get there, park, and not touch the car again until we left. The parking lot was a little tight, but getting a spot wasn't a problem. The room was nice. Nothing crazy, but it was very good size, a couple small flat screen TV's, a comfy bed, and a small kitchen area we didn't not use. This room features doors that lead out to a great porch area with nice chairs to relax in and enjoy the outside. It also lead directly to the 2nd floor bar. This was very handy our last time out. The food at the restaurant was good. They had a live band when we were eating dinner; that proved to be a little to much for us. The music was way too loud! The staff, mainly Ben, was very helpful during out entire stay. Very nice and accommodating. I would recommend both the lodging and the restaurant for someone looking for a clean, causal, fun vacation.

My wife an I went there for lunch and it was just ok. The haddock sandwich was served on a small roll so you can expect that it fell apart when you were eating it. The haddock was little fishy so maybe it wasn't haddock? I have never had a fishy haddock. As usual if want a beer you will pay, it is sad when you go out to eat and the beverage cost more than the food. This is a trend that is going make cut down on eating out. I hope owners of these type of establishments read this because there are alot of people we know that are saying the same thing. 6 to 7 for a glass of beer is a bit much.

I don't know how the food is as we never made it in the door. We had 9 people, 6 adults and 3 kids and we requested to sit outside. The hostess said they did not have a table large enough, however after observing 3 open tables we said we would split up and do separate checks and they wouldn't accommodate us. WTF people, Ill never go back, your loss.

I ate her yesterday and it was really nice and we were pleased with everything. At first I was slightly annoyed as it seemed a while before our server arrived, however, her pleasant personality made up for the delay and service was excellent thereafter. My daughter and I had mussels, and it came with two large pieces of toast for dipping in the tasty broth. We both got the lobster roll, and in all my years of living in New England I have never had one so large! The lobster roll was amazing!! It also came with a large portion of tasty fries. They have a nice draft beer selection. Overall a fantastic meal, (and I forgot to mention lovely outdoor seating overlooking all the York Beach action).

We were on a family vacation and arrived with a party of 10 and were seated fairly quickly. The seafood was great - both the fish and chips and fries clams were fried perfectly, and the food was obviously fresh. Service was great, unfortunately we can not remember the waitress' name nor did she wrote it on the check ( the check states it was server #99). Price was also decent, with our food tab averaging $17/pp. We will definitely be back next time we are in York.

Showed up on a sunday night around 6pm. sat outside, the hostess informed us a show was starting at 9pm (inside) and if we wanted to stay past 7pm we would have to pay a 12 dollar cover. well considering it took almost the hour to get drinks, order food and recieve food. we decided to pay the cover and hang out for the show. The show was good however once the main act started our server stood at the end of the bar to watch (now its music and the guy wasnt good looking so i dont know why she cant listen why she works) the other servers were working very hard, but our server just stood there and i could see the other tables she was serving as well were looking around for some service. its bad servers like that, that get restaurants bad reviews, i wish i remember her name...

My husband and I took our two kids here for lunch on a Wednesday. The kids both had chicken fingers, which were delicious and perfectly cooked. I had the veggie flatbread, which was tasty but kind of difficult to eat. The drinks were good and the atmosphere was nice - we sat at a table looking out on the ocean.

Very disappointed. A family group have made it our tradition to eat here on our yearly trip to York. In the past few years we've been pleased with the food and service. This year was the complete opposite experience. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon at about 4pm with our group of 4 adults and 6 kids. We knew we would have to wait and were happy to hear there was only about a half hour wait. The hostess offered to call us on our cell when our table was ready. An hour later we walked over to check in and were told that it would be at least 10 minutes. Half an hour or so later we finally got seated. Our waiter promptly came over and took, and delivered, our drink order. He also took the appetizer and main course order. It took FOREVER for the food to come out. We asked for bread or something to keep the kid quiet and were told "of course" but none ever came. The appetizers were good (crab cakes are yummy, fried green beans, garlic fries and pretzel sticks). When the main meals finally arrived my order was wrong and my hamburger was pretty much tasteless. My brother's Colossal BLT was nothing special and seemed to be just a regular sandwich. Our waiter seemed to disappear for periods of a time and when he did arrive was obviously stressed. I think the kitchen was backed up with a large private party going on upstairs. We were frustrated by the lack of service and felt ignored. I doubt we will continue the tradition next year.

My mom and I went to this restaurant for the first time over the weekend of the 4th of July. We were impressed with the menu, seeing as they had a lot to choose from. The burgers were good, and it was nice being on the beach - I'd say those things were the only positives to the restaurant. I ordered the Elvis burger and when it came, they had forgotten my bacon. Our waitress seemed like she didn't want to be serving us or that we were a bother or something, and we barely saw her. When I realized that there was something on my burger that I did not want on there (because I thought it came on the side), I told our waitress - she just stood there looking at me, as if she were thinking "Yeah? Okay..." When we were getting ready to leave, I asked for a soda in a to-go cup. When I got the cup and lid, I realized there was dust and fuzz on the lid, as well as what seemed like a coffee or tea stain going around the ring on the outside of it. So, would I recommend this place? No. I'm only giving this place 2 stars for the good burger. I would suggest spending your money on something more worthy.

3 stars is generous, and is a direct result of the view of the ocean and the lovely porch space to dine on. Beyond that-- terrible. The ladies and I made our way over here in search of seafood and cocktails on a warm summer Sunday afternoon, after several hours of sunning on the beach. It seemed like the perfect choice-- cocktails made in pint glasses (I love generous bartenders), fried oysters, crabcakes, salads, and beer. Plus, there'd be live music starting up any minute. Yep, like I said, the perfect choice. We started off with drink orders-- I ordered a Sam Summer, and the others ordered cocktails (mojitos, and some sort of frozen lime drink). The bartender got confused by my beer order, saying, hmmmm I don't know if we still have Sam Summer, I mean, we might have Oktoberfest on tap by now, yadda yadda yadda... so I ease his worries by saying, hey buddy, I love beer, just bring me whatcha got. He rolls up a few minutes later with their cocktails and an Oktoberfest for me. Okay, so they start that off a bit early (no more Summer ales left in August?) but that's okay.. until I go to sip it... flat. Yeah, gross flat beer. He's nice enough about it, though doesn't seem to believe me, as a trip behind the bar reveals the gas is working just fine. Whatevs. I order a mojito instead. Delicious. Moving on. I can't decide between the "flatbread of the day" and the fried oysters, so when he makes his way back to take our order, I ask... "Oh right!" he says, surprised. "We're out of, like, almost everything today. We got slammed last night and made like $15,000. It was crazy." TMI? I don't need to know your restaurant's $$ specifics, buddy. Anyway, he goes on to say they're out of pizza, out of oysters, out of crabcakes, out of chili, out of the veggie platter, and out of a few other things that put frowns on our faces... so what do they have left?? Well I ended up with a veggie burger (this, after my specific quest for seafood). They messed up my order too, and I had to send it back (since when does "veggie burger with mushrooms and cheese" mean "black bean wrap with ranch"?) and he seemed frustrated with me, despite it being, well, his fault. One of my dining buddies had a scallop platter though that I must say was delicious. Stole the show. I must say, this spot was a huge disappointment. Between the unadvertised lack of almost everything on their menu, mixed up drink and food orders, and wierd, stressful service, you can betcha bottom dollar I won't be back. HOWEVER, the view is gorgeous, so perhaps you'll catch them on a good day... watch the ocean, check out all the people below, and enoy summer while it lasts.

The view was out of site, drinks were a bit pricey and the oysters were sub par for the $15 per 1/2 dozen...what resteraunt doesn't have tobasco??? Survey says, "Inn On the Blues." The blue plate special was a moderate surprise which we enjoyed but again a bit over priced for 6 scallops some calamari and some haddock. Decent spot could use some elbow grease and a bit of old fashion TLC on the floors and deck area. If you're in short sands and don't want to give up your spot to drive somewhere give the Inn a whirl.

We had never been here before even though we are locals so when we ordered tickets for a show on-line, we didn't know what to expect. Upon early arrival to get good seats, we discovered that the seating is arranged as the orders come through. Now we know that we can show up at the last minute if we wanted to. The place is not that big and everyone had a table. We were right in front of a packed house. We were able to casually enjoy ourselves, order drinks and food while we waited for the comedian. Certainly above expectations for the process of seating. We ordered Tha' Mack Daddy flatbread and an order of onion rings. While the flatbread was delicious, the onion rings were incredibly greasy. They were so greasy that I took the shell off and only ate the onion. Unfortunately, the grease ruined our appetite for more food. My husband enjoyed the selection of beer on tap. Prices were good, too. Will definitely go back. Truly enjoyable experience without the hustle and bustle in a city to see entertainment.

Cute setting, bad experience. We went last Sat. night and some blues guy was "singing." I can tolerate lots of types of music and generally like blues, but this guy just sounded like yelling. The worst, however, were the drinks. The margaritas had NO tequila in them and just tasted like cheap mix. 2 stars for the outdoor seating and the touristy vacation feel, I guess.

Good food, good music, good times! My husband and I love to sit out on their deck, order appetizers or dinner, a cocktail and enjoy people watching. Or I'll go with my friends to hear the wonderful bands they have play there. A must for anyone who comes to York Beach!

I had wanted to visit this establishment in a well renovated building for years....regrettably, it was my worst dining experience in many months. Although the places seems to consider itself gourmet, our sellections were barely acceptable. Lobster Linguine was tepid and tacky to the touch lacking any adornment. The lamb pizza was pathetic....uncooked crust, mealy ground meet lacking flavor - the cheese tasted like store bought processed gunk and if there were roasted tomatoes they were pulverized to within an inch of their life... Pizza on the street would have been better. On top of the awful food, the 'entertainment' a lounge lizzard of a singer and horrible keyboadist were like nails on a chalkboard. Loud, obnoxious..If I heard one more rift of Journey I would have jumped off the second floor balcony. When we complained to the waitress she bemoaned that the only people that like him are the drunk ladies at the bar (and the owners). And all this for high prices. Do yourself a favor - eat beach food or get in your car and drive to Ogunquit or York Center - both of which offer plenty of fine dining choices. Ogunquit, especially had numerous wonderful options.. I;m afraid Blue left us blue!

I have to say that while here over this past weekend, I had the most wonderful and unusual raviolis I've ever had the pleasure of eating. I'd been here before for drinks only. I've seen the menu which has a little bit of everything on it. This time, we were grabbing a bite after already having enjoyed a cheese plate at Blue Sky nearby. I'm not a vegetarian, but the sweet pea and meyer lemon ravioli in sweet corn and basil broth sounded intriguing. They were *phenomenal*. I wish I lived closer so I could have them whenever the mood struck me! The only two cons on our visit were that they had no fried chicken sandwich (which it seems they could easily have accommodated as requested by my DC based on other menu items) and my debit card was mysteriously declined when the server attempted to charge the $50-something tab (though 15 minutes later I easily charged $250.00 on it for lodging). Hmmmm - operator error perhaps? I've found the live entertainment to be hit and miss, though I admit, I'm not much of a blues gal. No matter - I'd go back for the sublime ravioli and the nice location.

Went here today and sat on the deck, great beach day! We ordered rhode island calamari (we've had way better and this was a poor attempt). I got the lobster cakes which were...ehhh and we shared some beer battered onion rings which were like onions fried w/a fried dough coating...again not impressed! bUT what was impressive was the BBQ pulled pork flatbread...very tasty! My boyfriend always makes great choices! We each go a drink and found out they were $10/each! Anyways...next time we'll go elsewhere!

I came here for Father's Day with my father and brother. He wanted to go to Maine and we ended up here, none of us having been and Dad picked it randomly so I didn't bother to check the Yelp page on it. I'm not surprised it's on the low end. I don't know where the great view is everyone is speaking of is. We sat on the top deck and yes you can see the ocean, about 1000 feet away beyond the loud street traffic below, a crowded parking lot and tourist filled beach. The view is terrible. Speaking of the upper deck, it's crooked. The entire thing leaned to the right slightly and we were told they do not allow small children up there due to the fact. Some kind of thick wire that used to hold a sign also spans the entire upper deck just at the level where your arm will keep bouncing off it if you sit on the outer half. The service was fine, the waitress very friendly and polite. The food was mediocre at best. The haddock in the fish is chips did not taste like haddock, as other reviews have said, and was a bit dry. The prices are beyond ridiculous, even for a seafood place in a tourist town in the summer season, for both the food and drink. I've paid less for better food sitting directly on the water in Gloucester and Newport. It would be hard to convince me to come here again if we were in the area and had other options.

Best and biggest lobster roll I have ever had. Service was very good. Been coming here for the past few years and never disappointed. Nice to sit on the patio and people watch.

This place is great. The location is so perfect and the view of York is great. I went for lunch time and the prices were very reasonable. For lunch, I got the Cesar salad flatbread and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend it and get it again. My guest got the buffalo chicken flatbread and that was even better!!! It is one of those dishes you have and crave a few days later. The serving size was plenty and the service was pleasant. I would recommend this place based on food and location!

Being a native of a lobstering town in Maine. I was very surprised when I ordered what was on the menu as a 11/4 lb stuffed lobster. The lobster was maybe a lb at best. It was tasteless and poorly prepared. When I pointed it out to the waiter he was very pompous about it. He did not care about his job or the place he worked and stated such. After I pointed out my disappointment to him , he agreed it was a lb or less, so he offered us one free beer. I was not the one eating the lobster but I was the one paying I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Great food. Great value. Best chowder in York. HUGE Lobster roll. Amazing fries. I can't believe we've never come here before. Definitely adding it to our go to places to eat.

Awful and overpriced 17.00 for a grilled chicken Cesar salad, salmon with burned veggies and gross French fries with cheese and garlic. Drinks were terrible and party of. Three 145.00 I would have a better meal at mcdonalds!!!
