Open sense 1976, Dons Lunch has been a landmark for Westbrook. I remember being 8 year old and my grandfather bringing me down 10 o'clock at night. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I remember having a 2 hour wait between school and sports and walking to get a few hot dogs and a burger. I remember every time I have introduced Dons Lunch to someone new, and seeing them love it. Dons Lunch may have changed owners multiple times over the years, but they are always smart not to change the style. Good, simple, and delicious grilled food. Surprisingly, there is nothing special about the food. No seasonings. No massive flavor. But pure deliciousness! There isn't anything on the menu I won't eat! If you are looking for some quick and cheep food in the Westbrook area, skip mcdonalds. Head to Dons Lunch! Westbrook native and proud :)

5 stars for fast, friendly, and fabulous! Gives new meaning to locavore: local people serving local food to locals at local prices. If you get fed up, so to speak, with the hipster scene downtown and the whole restaurant ritual, this is a place to get some simple food and mix with normal people. I went pretty late, and the scene seemed to be folks who just got off the late shift, rather than the after-bar crowd. Is this gourmet food? No, but it's pretty darn satisfying after midnight to sip a hot chocolate on a cold night while waiting outside for a tasty burger. They grill the buns and have delicious sauteed onions as a free topping. Clam cakes are also satisfying---this is a deep-fried locally made product that probably has more wheat in it than clams, but it tastes great, and only costs two bucks. If you are driving in from town, beware that Main St. takes a sharp left and becomes a one-way after a semi-rotary situation.

Good when you're in the mood for a greasy burger fix, but don't expect anything extraordinary.

Two cheese dogs and a fry. Still my favorite local eatery! Where else can you get a full fast food meal for about $5 that is fresh? Not sure I have seen it in Portland or Westbrook.

The best burger and fries I've had in a looong time! I stopped in last night at 9:30pm and got their flagship "Big One" burger for only $2.00 (half price) due to a nightly special that they run. The shoestring fries were augmented by the fact that they have a bunch of condiments to dress them up (white vinegar/salt, french fry seasoning, and even bbq sauce upon request). The restaurant is actually an old converted RV so I wasn't expecting to be blown away but food was simply fantastic and the service was super fast (under 3 minutes) and genuinely friendly. This will definitely be a regular stop for me from now on!

Soooooooo, I have lived in the area for almost 9 years and have been by Don's lunch too many times to count. I can't lie, when I did go by all of those times I kind of turned my nose up at seeing it because it just isn't the prettiest thing you ever saw, or is at the most enjoyable location to look at. Yep, there I go, NOT listening to my mom saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover". The same damn information I try to ingrain into my own kids heads everyday. Gahhhhh ~slap in face~ Well, my husband was working near by and at the advice of a friend went over to the 'scary' burger place! He came home and told me it was the BEST burger EVER! Hey, wait just a friggin second, I thought MINE was????? Jerk! After 9 years of craving that perfect burger, kind of like that episode of How I Met Your Mother, you know the one... I caved and tried it apprehensively. Should I end the story here???? Oh alright. HOLY SHIT, BEST BURGER EVER. I found my red door burger joint. I may never let another burger pass my lips again. Yes world, not even my own! I just noticed they opened 1 minute ago, I have to goooooo... Only thing that I still turn my nose up at Don's Lunch for now is.... They are NOT open on Sundays.. What am I going to do? GO TO DON'S LUNCH, I promise you will love me for it! ~K

We were so excited to try this place. We navigated to 517 Main St Westbrook and this place was nowhere to be found. Did it move? Close?

Every time I have a burger from here I wish I had at least one more. If you want a great tasting burger look no further. Get a side of fries too.
