Super nice service. Treated my daughter and I like royalty. Fun place with a great local charm and atmosphere. Food is Italian and seafood style comfort food. Nothing fancy but a good meal. A nice break from all the touristy places we were at all week.

I've got to knock a star off my rating of Traditions. It has nothing to do with the food or our server, it was the hostess. Four of us went into an empty Traditions and the hostess jammed us into a smaller booth and wouldn't let us sit in a booth that seats four. This would have been understandable if the bigger booths filled up during our stay, but she only seated two other parties while we were there. Both were couples and one went in a small booth. But where did she put the other couple? In one of the bigger booths, of course. I asked her about this and she said this was because they requested a bigger booth, but when they arrived the booth had been set up for a party of four. And the other booths remained empty for our entire meal, when we left no one was coming in. She had one of those "I'll put you wherever I want" attitudes that we've probably all seen from hostesses that don't get it. She said her name was Asia and I hope management can find her a job more suited to her personality. The aggravation made me look around much in the way the good food has previously made me blind to things. The restaurant is dark. The woman at the table next to us got out of her seat and went over to a light so she could read the menu. And despite the dingy lighting, the walls are clearly filthy. Seriously, sit in the back as far away from the bar as possible and look at the light from the windows reflect off the wall. I don't know what that is but it's not appetizing. Apparently I'm not alone in my disillusionment, all of the bad reviews are recent. I still like the food, it's not fancy but it's tasty. And our server did a good job too. She wasn't one of those rare servers that just make you know it's going to be a perfect night, but she could describe any dish, made sure nothing was screwed up, and had the timing right. That works for me. I've had enough good meals at Traditions that I won't be able to stay away forever and surly staff usually don't last more than a few months, so I'm sure I'll be back in 2015. But there are too many restaurants to put up with that nonsense and I hope the hostess we encountered finds something that she's better at. Four stars for the food and our server, two for the cleanliness, and one for the hostess. This averages out to 2.75, which is rounded up to three.

Found this place purely by accident when Run of the Mill was jammed on a Saturday night and we didnt feel like waiting for an hour to sit down. Maybe it was beginners luck, but I liked everything about this place. The bar was well stocked, well sized with comfy stools and a friendly attentive keep. Yes, the booth we sat at was small, but for 2 of us it was fine. The food was tasty, hot and came quickly. The atmosphere was pleasant. Not too loud and not so quiet you felt like u needed to whisper. Employees and other customers were comfortable looking you in the eye and were willing and able to chat with you too. Maybe because there was no TV to distract anyone from the real people sitting right in front of them ? I liked that too. I really hope my next visit goes as well b/c this would be a great place to become a "regular". Fingers crossed...

The food should get a 3 star. Pretty plain and not exciting chicken parm. $16, and you don't even get a little side salad to go with it. How can you have Italian without salad? The place is small, older but quaint. If you were going on a date, it would be cute. That's when it stops though. You can hear the waitresses complaining about how they hate to put silverware away when they don't have a bus boy, they are too engaged talking at the bar, texting on their phone, and complaining and gossiping with either another local waitress, or a local barfly. I couldn't tell. I waited 20 minutes to get my check. I almost walked out to see if they noticed. Had I not been traveling for work, I would've thrown enough cash on the table to cover the meal, but I needed the receipt. BAD SERVICE = no second visit.

Grossest food, dirty silverware. Tried it twice in the past 10 years. My husband and I ended up leaving after only water because it was dark, dingy and depressing.

The place is badly in need of a face lift and a good cleaning, but the cheese lasagna I had for lunch today was great. If you're downtown Saco, looking for Italian, and don't mind not having good atmosphere, give it a try, but don't make a pilgrimage.

Nice family restaurant or rather, restaurant for a solid family meal. Sort of half-way between our home and UMaine, we met our son here for a bite on his birthday. With my wife and other son, and my nephew, there were 5 of us. Nothing fancy, but very (very!) friendly waitress and staff. The food was terrific - nothing too fancy but good, and filling. Enjoy!

Consistently good Italian food! I have a hard time not ordering the eggplant Parmesan every time, but when I have ventured away and tried other dishes, they have been equally impressive. Casual atmosphere with a neighborhood feel, and though we are not from the neighborhood, it has become a regular stop for us. Call ahead to avoid a wait.

So, this place is in Saco - which is dangerously close to the Biddeford line...I was immediately skeptical of the quality of food, but I had a Restaurant.com gift certificate. I ordered a veal parmigiana and was totally impressed. The batter on the veal was more of a beer batter than a bread crumb, which was a daring and most excellent choice. I had Angel Hair Pasta with it. Also excellent. My wife had a seafood and pasta mix, she said it was great. I didn't give it 5 stars because the restaurant looks very dark and sketchy when you walk in...it made me feel like it might be really dirty? Either way, it was great and I'd go again if I'm flying through that area. Check it out.

We went in because we wanted a nice Italian dinner and definitely got it. The place is a little small, but clean. Food was outstanding but service was a little sub par, but the hostess was great and the owner was friendly. Would definitely go again. We did bring our 2 year old with us and they had high chairs but no kids menu and kids cups or booster seats.

I'm from Jersey and this is one of my favorite Italian restaurants! How do they do it? Simple; the freshest ingredients, cooked perfectly (seafood, too!) with generous imaginitive seasonings and other touches, like green onions! Nice amount of garlic. Just had a seafood special w/scallops, mussels, and lots of lobster in an aioli with bits of sundried tomato. Others at table had salmon and fried shrimp, everything perfect and delicious. Can't wait to visit the Maine friend that keeps us coming back to Traditions!

I have dined at Traditions ever since they opened their doors over ten years ago and have never had anything but a superb meal and service.

The food is excellent, service is friendly. Only gave 4 stars because if you are heavy you will not enjoy the seating.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
