Love the food and ambiance here. This is not a fast food place, as they take care in preparing the sandwiches and food. It always comes out great. They have an outdoor courtyard to eat in which is great on a sunny day in Saco ! They have a lot of wine options that you cannot find in Hannaford or big box stores.
My new favorite sandwich place in Saco. Awesome BBQ sandwich with pickles and a touch of chipotle sauce. They have a lovely little fountain and garden right next door and the courtyard is a wonderful place to eat lunch outside. Great beer selection in the store. Chock full of all kinds of beers that are delicious and one wouldn't normally see elsewhere. Highly recommend this place.
This is the type of place that I would give two separate ratings for if I could. They have a decent sandwich board and everything is always fresh, but I have had 3 or 4 sandwiches here and nothing has really blown me away. It is usually my 3rd or 4th choice behind other sandwich shops in Saco/Biddeford. I'd float them somewhere between 3 and 4 stars, a little closer to 3. My favorite has probably been the cranberry chicken salad wrap. So why does it get 5 stars? Because the rest of the place is a 7 out of 5. I'm mostly just reiterating what others have say here, but the beer and wine selection is fantastic. This is where they really excel and shine. Lots of interesting imports, local breweries and unusual oddities to explore. The wine selection seems huge and diverse, though I am not well-schooled in that area. Still, the presentation of it is impressive. It's fun to walk around the store and check it all out. They also do occasional wine testings, one of which I was lucky to stumble upon. It all adds up to a really pleasant and unique atmosphere. I should add the service here is very friendly, and the owners are very helpful and well-informed on the beer and wine they sell.

Me and my fiancé went here the first day they were open. They didn't have an atm or accept cards at that time, so we told them we would come back at a later date to try their food. Louis and his wife proceeded to give us a few half arepas, with rice and beans for free. It was one of the nicest things I've seen, and I've been eating there ever since. This page sums up what an arepa is, but you will never know it's true glory until you have had one for yourself. The crunchy exterior with the fluffy interior is amazing. My personal favorite is the shredded beef with cheese (extra for cheese, but 100% worth it), while my fiancé love the avacado with cheese. The Yuca plate is also incredibly delicious, along with their rice and beans. The fresh cut french fries are another one of our favorites. There is honestly not enough good things I can say about this place. If you wind up anywhere near Saco, Maine, do yourself a favor and stop in. You will not regret it!
Really really delicious arepas. Not the biggest selection of fillings, but when the everything about the thing is on point, you don't need a bunch of choices. I've never had an arepa be so light in the middle while also so crispy on the outside. We really enjoyed the service as well. Very pleasant and familial. The green plaintains/tostones were oh so addictive and crispy. If you are unsure about price, one is certainly big enough for a meal with a side like green plaintains. If you are adventurous and like value, the 6 half arepas platter would surely feed two hungry adults. Overall a great experience and we will be back for more soon!
Came here based off of the Great Yelp reviews however, I have to disagree with what's on here. I left from there about an hour ago and I have already thrown up twice. The server was extremely patient/ nice with us because we had no clue on what to order and for that, the extra star was added. Please stay away from El Plato and El Trio. The ground beef was extremely salty and possibly undercooked/ microwaved? We are on vacation from NY and this was the last thing that we needed.

Best corned beef hash I've ever had! My girlfriend and I decided to get breakfast at a local spot while waiting for my car service up the road, she found the Auto mile diner online from these reviews so we dicided to try it out and I'm glad we did! I got eggs and hash and the hash was truly homemade and had incredible flavor. We were both extreamly satisfied with our meals and the friendly service. We even got to meet the chef/owner as he came out in the dining room to joke around with some regulars. We'll definitelty be back again!!!!!!
Wife and I eat here 2 or3 times a month, that should say it all. We found this diner in 2005 while having our vehicle serviced at the now defunct Brown Motors. It was a recomendation by our salesman and we couldn't have been more satisfied. George's soups and chowders are among the best and when he has them his fried clams are great. he has both whole and strip clams. Also his breakfasts are top shelf.
Tasty breakfast. Homestyle cooking. Very small diner, but friendly staff and good food are worth a visit.

Cute restaurant in a cute town. We went with my 7-friend party to get brunch before heading back to New York. We all order different things from the full breakfast, the French toasts or the chicken sandwich... Everything was very tasty and affordable, and the service was fast. Just one tip: if you order the packages or French toasts, ask the waitress for the kitchen maple syrup, because the syrup on the dining tables are just... tasteless.
It's a tiny place, with large portions. The staff was excellent. They gave us very good recommendations and mixed an very good Cosmo. We were dazzled by the decor and lighting. It made for a cozy, almost magical experience. Parking? Yeah, that's a challenge.
Nice cosy place with good breakfast/brunch options: they make use of good produces and dishes are well executed. Please ask for the real mapple syrup for your pancakes, by default they will not offer it and will serve you a horrendous corn syrup for substitute (honestly, this is an absolute shame in a state so close to Quebec).

My wife and I went on our anniversary, and we were blown away!! Great food and the waiter, Randy was one of the best personalities in Maine! A must see and stop!! The chef was also amazing with my wife's food allergies. Great place, will be back, when up there again!!!!
This is a very good restaurant off the beaten path. It was a nice change from all the fried foods and fast food restaurant from the area. Caesar salad was great, made table side. Will definetly return when we visit Maine.
My boyfriend and I found this place on our way into Old Orchard Beach, where we vacationed for the weekend. We LOVED it. The food was amazing, and the staff was excellent. When we ordered a piece of the Maine blueberry pie for dessert, and our server told us her co-worker just served the last piece, we ordered an entire pie that we picked up on our way out of town. We spent the next week referring to the chef, Dave, as a man sent from heaven to bake us pie. When we picked up our pie we stayed for lunch, and had a second incredible meal. This is now our go-to place any time we head up to the beach or to Portland. Dave is a rock star.

Fernleaf Bakery

I have had two extremely delicious sandwiches here - the roasted vegetable and the pesto chicken salad. A small but creative sandwich menu. The bakery items have been solid. Great coffee. Small, cozy and clean, this side-street eatery is worth a visit. I can see me changing this review to five stars if I get blown away a few more times.
Fernleaf is a really cute little bakery. When I went it was full of desserts and things to have for lunch. I'm really excited to try as many of their offerings as possible and I'm going to have to work on that. There are a few small tables inside so I guess you could eat there, but it's not very spacious and in the Winter I wonder how bad the draft would be whenever anybody walks in. I picked up some desserts to take home and they were delicious, but I really can't say much about the good looking lunches There are so many interesting little spots to eat in the area that it's hard to go wrong if you're in the area and you're hungry.
Decided to give this place a try while on a trip to the Kennebunks. The customer service was awesome, but unfortunately the almond croissant I had was not. Now the almond croissant wasn't horrible, but I've had way better. The croissant was a little too much on the doughy side and the almond paste was just on the ends of the pastry and nonexistent in the center. I however didn't try anything else they sell, so this could be just an isolated incident. Due to this experience, I don't think I will be returning.

Hanabi Restaurant

We went on a Friday night. Only one other table in use. Positive is the drinks were good and inexpensive. Beer was also very inexpensive. Negatives were, the place needs updating and a good cleaning. It just feels rundown. Also the music was loud and annoying. Miso soup was great. The rest of our food was just ok. Took longer than usual to be prepared.
Hanabi is basically a hidden gem in small town Saco. I discovered this place a couple years ago and ordered a spicy crunchy tuna from them and was amazed at its taste, quality and freshness. Of course after having such an amazing first experience I decided to come back and ever since then, I have been a regular customer. I will honestly say that Hanabi has the best sushi I've ever tasted in my life --- I've been to many sushi restaurants and Hanabi still remains first on my list. There is only one chef so food may come out later than expected. If you are willing to wait a little longer than you usually do, you will not be disappointed. Perfection takes time! Mrs. Jung sushi is always consistent and every time you order you can expect it to taste as good as your first time. My personal favorite rolls are the Spicy Crunchy Tuna and the Spicy Calamari. Mexican Roll is always a good roll. Her spicy calamari appetizer is also my favorite and her bento boxes are great. Overall this small restaurant has a great atmosphere, a wonderful owner/chef who is always smiling and friendly, great food, and great service. Be sure to check it out if you're in sunny Saco, Maine.
Really nice people, carpeted but clean, unfortunately the sushi was not good. The fish was fresh, the presentation was nice enough but the combinations of flavors, the fish sauce, the spicy mayo, and the "hot sauce" not kidding, were all just a bad combination. We literally threw out 7 out of 9 rolls we got as take out. Very disappointed. Still looking for good sushi in southern Maine. The decor was also terrible. At pick up not sure if I was at a salon with the magazine options or at a restaurant. The fake roses in a vase literally had the dusty tags on still. The bathroom had obvious storage items. It just needs an overhaul and a decision on flavors. Mexican Hot sauce or Wasabi. Not both !

Came in here on a Monday night and there was plenty of crowds. The food was spectacular. I had the baked haddock (super fresh and delicious). Great beer selection. I even got a shirt : ) The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the parking lot is a maze and getting out during a rainstorm was like something out of a movie. Met a great local guy named Vern who was really nice and knew a lot about the bar. We'll come again when we're in town.
It's nice to find a restaurant where you can get fresh meals and go away happy. Everything on their menu is awesome and prepared just like MOM had made it. Great soups and meat dishes and all for under $5.00 a dish. A restaurant that when you leave your not only full but also doesn't hit your wallet. Oh and all the staff is always smiling and happy.
The food was outstanding. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant. The tables were spread out so you have enough room to enjoy your meal without being overcrowded. The veggie burger was so good, and the lobster roll was over stuffed and fresh. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend. Will be back. Have already told people back home how great a place it is.

Martel’s Ice Cream

Reviews:
I just can't seem to stay away from ice cream places. No matter how hard I try, I keep going to them!! Martel's is the local favorite. Everyone loves them! I can't say that I blame them. The ice cream is quite good. My mint chocolate concoction was quite tasty! This is very good ice cream, but not the best. Thus, if people are headed here, I'll tag along, but my favorite is Gonneville Farms!
A kid and his mom came in from outside with a sundae and said it has the wrong topping. The woman working asked if he'd eaten any... he hesitated then his mom said "no" (so he probably had),then she took the sundae and put it in her freezer next to the ice cream they serve. I asked "are you keeping that?" and she said something about maybe an employee would want it. This disgusted me and I left without getting anything. Who knows what was done to that ice cream and she's putting it next to I've cream people will buy and on top of that is too cheap to give employees fresh non contaminated ice cream.
This was the best ice cream I ever had well deserved on the 5 stars... Ice cream doesn't taste like those artificial ones you buy in the store. And the staff was great..
