Came in here on a Monday night and there was plenty of crowds. The food was spectacular. I had the baked haddock (super fresh and delicious). Great beer selection. I even got a shirt : ) The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the parking lot is a maze and getting out during a rainstorm was like something out of a movie. Met a great local guy named Vern who was really nice and knew a lot about the bar. We'll come again when we're in town.

It's nice to find a restaurant where you can get fresh meals and go away happy. Everything on their menu is awesome and prepared just like MOM had made it. Great soups and meat dishes and all for under $5.00 a dish. A restaurant that when you leave your not only full but also doesn't hit your wallet. Oh and all the staff is always smiling and happy.

The food was outstanding. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant. The tables were spread out so you have enough room to enjoy your meal without being overcrowded. The veggie burger was so good, and the lobster roll was over stuffed and fresh. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend. Will be back. Have already told people back home how great a place it is.

I got their hefeweizen and it was a bit flat. Good flavors. They described another beer as 'like bud light' so I'm not sure why anyone would get it. We shared the calamari AND the spinach dip which was a lot of food for 4 people. No one finished their dinners after that. Both were great, but the calamari was a bit over cooked. I'm not sure if they make the sauce, but it was really good. The dip was great and in a bread bowl so you can feel super fat after haha I got the veggie burger which was a bit dry and, again, HUGE. The server was super peppy. Different menu inside and out, which we all agreed was weird

A meat and potatoes kind of place with lots of beer options on tap and plenty of bar food staples. Don't worry, there are some salads, veggie sandwiches and quesadillas if that's what you're feeling. The beer cheese soup with pretzels was pretty solid (filling for a small cup). Our table shared a plate of Franco Nachos (poutine) to compare with those we'd recently had in Montreal - they came close, but couldn't touch the real thing. There's a section of the menu called "I'm really hungry" with loads of meaty, stick-to-your-ribs kinds of dishes, most for about $10! I couldn't finish my bangers and mash, which only set me back $9.25. This has been a fun place to visit every time I'm up in Biddeford. Cheers!

I do enjoy this place. The atmosphere is really cool and the service and prices are both great. My brother loves their beer selection and raves about the meatloaf. My family frequents here. The food has just been okay for me. I ordered the fish and chips a few months ago. It was cooked to perfection and the fish was huge. The only problem was that it lacked a lot of the flavor I was hoping for and had to be coated in tartar sauce as it was quite bland. A few weeks ago I came back and tried the mac and beer cheese. It was decent. The sauce would have been much better if it were more of a "wet" mac and cheese instead of a dry baked one. There was a large parmesan cheese ring topping it and while it looked pleasing to the eye and made the dish interesting, it actually just made the meal really hard to eat and tasted like pure salt. It was also topped with cracker and pretzel crumbs. In small amounts it would have been good but there was way too much of it and I felt like it really covered the taste of what cheese taste there was left and dried out the dish even more than the baking did. It was far too salty and dry for mac and cheese and was somewhat disappointing because it really could've been good if it wasn't so dressed up. I'll be back to try something else because I love the idea of this place but haven't found a great dish yet.

Took a quick 10 minute ride there for dinner while staying at Old Orchard Beach. (After reading about the horrible food at ALL the OOB dinner spots) It is worth the trip!, Easy to find, AFFORDABLE, large restaurant in an old mill with a large outside patio. Easy to seat big groups. So glad with used the "around me" app! POUTINE WAS THE BEST!

I have gone here a couple times so far , everything better than the previous . Great food , fantastic service , really good pricing . Different menu options outside and inside ( kinda unique but wish it was all in one ) . Would strongly recommend though!

I usually don't review but after our experience tonight I felt obligated. We were in the area at Funtown and looking for a restaurant to grab some dinner with the kids. I found the restaurant (brew pub) on Google maps and after looking at the menu we set off. The parking was a bit different but so was the location, in a good way. The restaurant is part of a repurposed tannery on a small island in between Saco and Biddeford. The inside of the building has been completely redone but done in such a way that it highlights the actual architecture of the building including the huge roof timbers and wood walls. When we entered we were greeted by a very enthusiastic and courteous hostess that seated us. Within a couple of minutes our server Katherine arrived and took the drink orders. The pub offers a wide selection of house brews. I settled on the Bud Lager though I think our waitress could have told me everything about every beer/ale they have. For the meal I settled on the Mac & beer cheese. Then she asked me one of the best questions that someone can ask. Do you want bacon in it? UM HELL YEAH! Others in the party got the ruben sandwich with house cut fries, Maine crab cakes, spinach and artichoke dip, and others. I tried a little bit of everything and overall the food and drinks were AMAZING! Seriously the best food I've had in a long time. I'm seriously going in to a depression just realizing that I live 2 hours north. The food arrived in less than 15 minutes. The Mac and beer cheese with BACON and half of a ruben sandwich I had were to die for! As for Katherine she was the best waitress we could have ever asked for, I couldn't have expected any better if I was at a $500 restaurant. Even the kids loved it and got a great kids meal. It was a pleasure dining at such a great establishment, a true jem. Simply amazing job! Would and will be recommending to everyone I know! Note: We ate inside, they have 2 menus, the outside menu has more seasonal items on it.

We ordered the chicken quesadilla, grilled salmon focaccia and beer sampler, all of it was amazing...I may order just the bug lager next time I am here..! Quesadilla are different and tastes great!

The food here is delicious! We used to come visit Maine in the summer for vacation every year but have not been in the past 2 years. This year we were disappointed to hear that a few of our favorite spots have been closed. We were looking for new restaurants to try and Run of the Mill came up and had great reviews so we decided to give it a try. We started with the Mussel Dijon appetizer. I HIGHLY recommend this. It is hands down the best mussels I have ever had. The sauce is delicious. We split the app amongst 5 people at the table. My only recommendation is to give more than two pieces of bread with it as there is so much extra sauce and it is so good to dip the bread in. I had the seafood scampi and it was very good. Lots of mussels, shrimp and lobster and just enough pasta. Most places give you so much pasta that you have so much leftover. The portion here was perfect...not tons of unneeded pasta left over but enough to leave you full and lots of good seafood. Other members of our party had the turkey dinner, stuffed haddock, drunken pot roast and the salmon sandwich and everyone enjoyed their meals. It has been our best meal so far on vacation and we will be back the next time we are in Maine for vacation. I have no complaints about this place and I highly recommend giving it a try.

We stopped here when arriving in Biddeford for a week long vacation. The beer was excellent (4 stars), the wait staff was very good, the ambience is very nice as it is located on the old mill island on the Saco River, but the food was just, well, run of the mill. The staff and space were accommodating and appropriate for children (we had 2 under 2.5 years old with us); the beer selection was limited but the quality of the ales were all very good and they had a full bar in addition to the beer. The vegetarian in our group was disappointed in the lack of options. We would come back for a beer and snack, but not for a full meal.

Another restaurant in the Saco/Biddedord area that is good, decent priced and great variety. A large space with outdoor seating , food beer selection and menu is varied. My daughter and I each opted for salads which were generous in size, fresh and food. She ordered the summer salad special with a rhubarb vinaigrette that was delicious. We always eat here when visiting over the past four years - going to miss it! Another 3 1/2 star place. Don't be fooled by that rating, it's great food and atmosphere .

Went here for dinner during a corporate retreat. Food was excellent. Waistress, wasn't the vest; she was young, probably new & we were a big group which I'm sure overwhelmed her. She was very sweet nevertheless. I had the calamari. ....the best ever! Not over breaded, not chewy either....just right The crab cakes are awesome as a starter too. The seafood Alfredo (shrimp, lobster & mussels) is to die for! Also the pineapple upside down cake drink was delicious!

This was the worst meal we've ever eaten. Unfortunately, we traveled for 30 minutes based on previous reviews and wish we had eaten at a fast food joint instead. We ordered wings that were under cooked. Then ordered the special, which sounded delicious: "black and blue ribeye with blue cheese crumbles and panko coating with side of mashed potatoes and fresh wax beans" not. Even. Close. The meat was leftover roast beef that was being passed off as fresh steak. It had a thick coating of blue cheese, maybe trying to hide the mystery meat, no panko at all, and a vegetable that tasted like pumpkin pie filling instead of wax beans. We're not complainers so we ate two bites, paid and left. That was our biggest mistake. Terrible food. Our waitress was nice, though.

I gave this place 2 stars. Due to the service. Food was excellent. Beer was excellent. Our waitress killed the experience. I wasn't finished with my drink order and she butted in and interrupted me to ask for ID. I don't mind showing it but I felt like we were instantly a bother. She removed my dinner plate before my girlfriend was done. She also gave us the check while we were eating desert. It wasn't busy.

Food, drink, and service has been great but the band playing outside was obscenely loud. We're young and like to party but they had everything turned up so loud it was obnoxious and unbearable.

Nothing like some good old-fashioned douchey customer service to turn you off to a place you enjoy going to. I have to look collectively at what I like and don't like about this place to be fair in my rating. I like the food, very much. I like the atmosphere, very much, from the interior bar and dining areas to the outdoor open air sections. The beer is pretty good, if not top quality brewpub product (my favorite is the stout). All in all, good. This would be a 4 star place, but our last two visits really rubbed me raw, and I'm not really the type of guy who likes to piss and moan. In reality, I've always found the service to be up and down. The bartenders represent the imbalance very well, ranging from pleasant to indifferent. The servers are generally nice, but their attentiveness is similarly inconsistent. The kitchen operation is strange, sometimes pumping out dishes expediently and other times taking forever - and not necessarily due to a packed dining room. Which brings me to our last two experiences. Earlier this week, it was one of those nights where we didn't want to cook, so me, my wife and two young kids got in the car and headed over for 6pm. We walked into a fairly empty dining room - 20 minute wait. OK, so my wife and I took a few seconds to consider (mind you, there was no one behind us). There were two hosts at the front, a nice young male with long hair and a snooty young female who had the audacity to ask her embarrassed colleague "Geez, is 20 minutes really THAT long?" Well gee lady, not necessarily but when you have two hungry kids and a half-empty dining room, yes it is. As I politely told the young gentlemen no thanks, I locked eyes with the young lady who shot me a sarcastic smile like the angry "double dipper" character in the famous Seinfeld episode. And like George Costanza, as we walked out I found myself muttering something under my breath and saying "I should have said that. The jerk store called..." I'll just say she's darn lucky my wife didn't hear it. As lovely as my wife is, she is not as likely to let something like that go without retort. Today after our daughter's cheerleading event, we decided to go for lunch. We live here after all, it's close, the food is good, etc. Our waitress was fine, but again the kitchen took forever for a fairly slow dining room given that it was 2pm. We ordered two blackened chicken wrap specials, and when they finally arrived, they tasted fine - but something was missing. Ah yes, the avocado. The nice waitress heads to the kitchen to fetch us some avocado, and comes back without it, saying: "The cook said he just made three of these and there was avocado on every one." OH AWESOME! Who doesn't love the defensive line cook? What an endearing classic American character! Mom, can we take him home? We clearly showed the evidence that our wraps lacked the avocado and she wound up bringing some out. Gee, thanks. Not really the waitresses' fault, but she didn't necessarily employ common sense here either. Wouldn't the smarter, customer-friendly move have been to bring some avocado out and say "We're sorry, the cook could have sworn he put avocado on but mistakes happen". Yea, I'd have been cool with that. Try to save a little face but cut it off at the pass. Maybe this looks like a big bitchfest, but our last two experiences have turned us off here. I don't see us returning for the foreseeable future. And I get the feeling that, based on the general vibe running through the staff, they wouldn't care.

I'd love to tell you how the food was but after waiting for 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us we asked the staff where our server was, our server came over. I asked if they have a draft menu since they advertise that they draft their own. The server went to get me a menu, then never came back. I mean she went back and forth to her tables a few times, but then didn't acknowledge is again. So we left. In my 40 yrs on the planet, never have I walked out because of service or lack thereof.

I received some nice pats on the back for choosing this pub after a day out at Funtown Splashtown. Yelp, you've done me good! Run of the Mill is a perfect choice for a group of 6. They have a large menu, plenty of house-made beers, and my favorite...cocktails. The 4 people who ordered beers enjoyed them (even the pickiest among us), and I chose a pomegranate cocktail (sweet n' sour, just how it should be). Some other options included Pineapple Upside-down Cake martini, and a Gin and Elderflower martini. Around the table, there was fish n' chips, mac n cheese, mussels, salads, and wraps. I had the mussels (I figured, lighter is better after eating chicken nuggets and going on roller coasters) which were coated in a mustard and onion cream sauce. It was VERY potent, but the amount on the perfectly steamed mussels was delightful. All was served in a big bowl with a bit of baguette. What I tasted of the mac and cheese was delicious. I nibbled on my fiancé's parmesan crisp (not a euphemism) that topped the pasta. Fantastic! They also offer some things I haven't seen much on other menus...beer and cheese soup, turkey dinner (which I'd love to see more!), and croquettes (it sounded like potato skins, deep fried). I'd love to come back, as soon as possible!

This was my boyfriend and mine first time here. We were drawn here because they brew there beer in house. We tried the sampler of beers. The I do beer was delicious and my favorite out of all 6. We tried the duck poutine, which was cooked perfectly. I had the drunk in pot roast and my boyfriend had the meatloaf. The pot roast was cooked to perfection and the meatloaf was the best he has ever had. The portion sizes were huge!! I will definitely be back!!

For the price and the location this place is great. They have a full bar and good house beer that is cheaper. Their food has really gotten good. When this restaurant first opened I didn't like the style of food, now I have trouble deciding what to get because they have so many great options and everything I've tried is delicious. Highly worth the visit.

We ate outside which has a different menu than inside dining. I had the Fish and Chips and my wife ordered the Saco Taco. Haddock was flaky and moist with a well done crispy bread coating. It was deep fried but not overly greasy. Fries were good but not spectacular. The cole slaw was unremarkable with little taste. The IPA draft was very good and served cold. Wife's taco's contained blackened fish which made it a little too spicy in her opinion.

First time trying this place while passing through town. FOOD The menu is impressive with lots of creative options available. Spinach artichoke dip was good, but honestly pretty bland. French onion soup tasted pretty basic, almost as if it had come out of a can. On a positive note, the grilled salmon was fantastic. It was some of the best I have ever had. It was served on top of a piece of charred toast which was a nice touch and really added to the flavor. The beer was very good. Some really tasty microbrews on tap. They were top notch. SERVICE It could have just been my luck for the day, but our service was horrible. We arrived at about 3pm and it wasn't too busy. They told us about 10 minutes for a table but it ended up taking about 40 minutes. We ordered three appetizers and one lunch entree. Two of the apps came out fairly quick but it took a good 40 minutes to get the rest of our food. We had a tight schedule so we told the waiter that we wanted our bill when he delivered the rest of the food so we could leave as soon as we were done. Almost 15 minutes later he brought us our bill. He clearly forgot about us. CONCLUSION While we had really bad service, I felt that it could have just been our particular waiter. Some of our food wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. I would definitely like to visit again to try some of the other items on the menu. The beer alone makes it worth the visit and it looks like people sitting at the bar were getting great service. Would I try again? Absolutely.

I was planning on writing a bad review thinking they completely changed their menu until I found out that because we're eating outside we get a different menu when you're eating outside. That's really rather ridiculous. It's the same restaurant.

unbelievable dinner. Crowded on a Friday night. Came in with a party of 9 with 4 adults and 5 kids and they actually got us seated within a reasonable amount of time. I'll speak only about the meatloaf dinner. Absolutely incredible. Two thick pieces of probably the best meatloaf I've ever had, with a side of real mashed red potatoes and squash. Definitely hit up this place if you're in the area.

To our waitress: I hope the table of 12 you were helping instead of us tipped you well. Should make up for the tip you would have gotten from us had you paid any attention to us. Dave got the beer sampler, which he enjoyed even though he did not know which beers were which. It would have been helpful for them to be labeled. For his meal he got the lobster club roll, which he enjoyed. A bit difficult to eat the way it was presented, but he muddled through. Holly finished her burger, which never happens. She thought it was cooked perfectly and the crispness of the bun made it taste amazing. I got the mac and beer cheese. It was okay, I've had better and perhaps was judging based on that. A solid outing for a Saturday night. I did love the State Budget Red Ale. Hoping we get a growler of that to go!

In off season (mid-June) and mid-afternoon place pretty vacant. Weather too cold to sit out on great deck. Location, view and decor 4+ (out of 5). Selection of beers top notch. Quality food at reasonable prices. Service very good. Atmosphere casual and relaxed. Highly recommend.

This is our go to spot. Love the atmosphere, music, beer and service. Love that they always have an array of specials and a daily beer cheese soup (heavy, but amazing). Hope this place continues to impress for years to come, they haven't let us down before!

  • Krizmn K.

Solid place! I have never been unhappy. The place is always packed so expect a wait, but there is a reason for that. Saco, Biddeford, Old Orchard need more places like this. I won't bother talking about the food or beer selection, all the other reviews nailed it. 4 stars cause of great service, food, atmosphere, location, beer selection, and entertainment. They miss 5 stars due to some disappointing dishes. Didn't leave unhappy, but calamari tasted like it was just frozen&deep fried. Crab cakes "meh". All other dishes we loved!!

  • Rebecca S.

I've been here a handful of times and each time I've not been disappointed! The food is delicious, the wine is great!! My favorite is the "not your mama's meatloaf" its fantastic!! It's two pieces of meatloaf heaven stuffed with spinach and cheese and wrapped in bacon!! Also, the Mac & Beer cheese is to die for, super rich and creamy and you get this cool Parmesan wheel atop. Everything that I've ordered has been wonderful! It's always busy but we've never waited more than 20 minutes.

This was a quick stop on our way to Bar Harbor. We stopped in must as they were opening and ordered a beer, then headed out to the patio. It was a lovely afternoon and we enjoyed the beer and relaxing ambience. Bartender and servers were friendly and knowledgeable regarding the beer.

We drove about 10 miles to have dinner with the family. Look like it was going to be a great choice. Really great old building with a ton of cool repurposed wood. The hostess was happy and friendly. We were taking quick to our table. We were greeted by our server quickly as well, a young man who looked like a college frat guy whom just got off the river from a long, drunken tubing trip, glasses strapped around his neck. The menu looked pretty good, so we ordered up and we order a lot, we have 4 kids and always allow them to order as they please. We ordered drinks and got them several minutes later....... We then ordered dinner, we got a few starters which my youngest daughter ordered chicken tenders which was tossed in their sweet and spicy sauce, which the server told her was buffol and bbq mixed so she ordered, he may have let a 9 year old know it has beer in it and a lot! Tasted like beer.... We had the Poutine it was OK the duck confit was a but sparse. We had Caesar salads very bland and under dressed. We had the crab cakes which they claim are the best around..... Not good lots of filler a ton of celery and remoulade was bland. My daughter had pasta, really flat and not good. My husband did order wine which never got delivered... The intial service very quick but then went south quick we waited a long time for our food. This is a skip it if you want some good food, they claim to make everything home made, they might need to reevaluate their recipes.

I would love to be able to give a review of the food but we left after 20 minutes waiting for a waiter to even acknowledge we were there. I've never left a restaurant before because of no service. We ended up eating at another restaurant where we were warmly greeted, waited on right away and the food was good.

Food was just okay,,,server was just okay,..price was more than quality of the food...would have liked to hear about the beers and specials from the staff and not the Specials Board. The bar vibe felt much better than the restaurant vibe. I called ahead they said they have no happy hour . But they come up in the happy hour search...i did notice when leaving the same special i had was on the board in the bar for 11.00 instead. Of 17.95...maybe its cheaper in the bar???? Just not impressed and picked here for my birthday dinner with high hopes

Our first visit went so well that we had to go again. Our second time wasn't so hot so I'm leaving only 4 stars. My wife & daughter absolutely loved their alfredo on our first visit so we went back a few days later. We opted to sit outside this time & found out that the alfredo isn't on the outdoor menu. We ended up sitting tucked away in the corner of the bar area & our waitress seemed to forget we were around. Needless to say, the alfredo was good just not as good as before because it was cold. It's tough to not enjoy beer when it's cold & fresh. Run of the Mill had 9 beers on tap & they were pretty damn good. I had their meatloaf & it held up to my wifes so I wasn't disappointed. Everyone loved their meals & finished them up other than the alfredo which came home but never made it to the next day. If I was a local I'd definitely be a regular. The food was good, service was so-so & the location is killer. I love old mills & wish they had alfredo on their outdoor menu cuz it was such a perfect place for a few cold beers & great pub food.

The service was excellent. Our waitress was attentitive and told us about nice places to visit around the area. However I was somewhat deceived by the high ratings and high prices. The food is overpriced and are served in small portions. Some of the food also has an alcoholic taste that wasn't really to my liking.

Stopped in and got fried calimari, bacon cheese croquettes, and the bacon avocado lobster club roll. Everything was phenomenal, the calimari were light and crisp and perfectly tender. The croquettes were served with a delicious olive oil bechamel and also had the perfect texture and consistency. And you should just get that lobster roll, it shouldn't need justifying. I actually received a plain roll instead but the server quickly rectified my order and did not charge for the club. The people i went with also had beers and seemed very pleased.

We stopped in town to send postcards after a day photographing lighthouses, changing leaves, and other New England sites. We asked the lady at the post office for a suggestion for good food and this was it. We were not disappointed! We were feeling so good after eating our chosen meals and drinking perfect drinks. If/When I ever get back to this part of the country, I will stop back in here because it was a wonderful place to eat, talk with friends.

I've eaten here about six times and is by far my favorite place when passing through the Saco-Biddeford area, which is a bit of a restaurant desert. This is the only restaurant that makes sweet potato fries right; nice and crispy every time. Anywhere else they are soggy. I usually get the Mill Wrap and my daughter always gets the veggie burger. Prices are reasonable and feels like a good value. Service is usually good, especially for a pub, although I sometimes wonder if there are any adults running the place. I did see a waitress cough into her hand last time....ick. Only drawback is it can get really loud. Overall, I look forward to eating here and like supporting a locally-owned business.

Late review... We've been here a handful of times and always enjoyed ourselves. In the summer months they have live music of the patio that has people young and old dancing. The beers are always fantastic and offers something for every palate- we always start with a sampler and then decide from there. Food has been consistently good, lots of bar/ comfort foods. Bonus points for offering vegetarian options! Most of the time we have had excellent service. It does get busy and we have felt forgotten in the past. Overall, great friendly place and we can't wait to go back!

It pains me to write this review, but my experience was textbook terrible. I had met a friend for lunch and got there @ 20 minutes after her. Ten minutes after I arrived, the waitress sauntered over and asked if I'd like a drink. I ordered one and she left. My friend had an empty drink and the waitress neglected to ask her if she wanted another. Once my drink arrived we ordered food. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. A few bites into my salad I noticed I was eating undercooked chicken, as the inside was pink. I waited for the waitress to come by and ask how everything was...after 15 minutes I decided to take my plate to the cooks and have them finish cooking it. On the way to the kitchen, I ran into the waitress who took my plate to the kitchen for me. No apology, just an eye roll. Moments later she came to the table to tell me they are remaking my order and that the lighting was not optimal and she obviously couldn't see inside my chicken (in other words she was saying, "it's not my fault, don't let it affect my tip") I told her I was aware that she didn't cook the food, I am also in the food service industry. At this point, it took so long for any service that my friend was halfway through her meal. I was sitting outside and could see the outside kitchen from my table. When my salad was finished it was put out for pickup...and there it sat, for another 15 minutes. In fact, it had been so long that another waitress finally grabbed the salad and walked it over to our waitress to remind her that it was there. At this point, my friend was finished with her meal and I was more angry then hungry watching my salad sit for so long. I told the waitress I no longer wanted the salad and asked her to remove it from my bill. The worst part was that this server want new or inexperienced...she is a thin older woman late 40's, who appears to have been in the industry for a while. Completely unprofessional and inexcusable.

I've been here over a 100 times in the last 6 years so I figured I'd right a review on my latest visit. The food is good and consistent, I usually stick to their Mill Wrap (chicken, bacon, swiss in a wrap) but their shepherd's pie, mac n cheese, and burgers are good too. I've traveled quite a bit and to find a place with a pub atmosphere that brews their own beer on location is hard to find outside of New England or on the West Coast is hard to find. They have 6 of their own beers on tap for $5 a pint at any given time. The crowd is mostly local artist types (ie. Time to grow a beard) mixed with tourists in the summer and local college kids in the winter. The staff have a low turnover which is pretty rare these days. Perhaps the mug club (300 beers in a year) and and nice atmosphere has something to do with it. Overall, I'd recommend this place hands down to anywhere in Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach area. The only other places like it south of Portland would be Federal Jacks or Pilot House in Kennebunkport.

After a long day visiting lighthouse I decided on getting some REAL food. We have been eating fried food at OOB for days! This place is AWESOME! Our waiter Nate was awesome! I had the french onion soup an d the queen prime rib. It was all very good definitely hit the spot. I had the mashed butternut squash and the garlic mashed potatoes. My husband had this steak that was the special had a kick to it. Was great and it came with roasted potatoes and veggies that came from a local farm!!! At the end of our meal ( which I had two glasses of wine very good. ) we started talking to tue waiter about the brewery and he told us they give tours and make their own beer. He gave us a samole of the beer with Ipa and it was awesome! I never would have tried a beer like that in glad he gave us a sample. I cant wait to come here again. Also they have two kitchen so the outside has a different menu than the inside. DEF. U MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!

My favorite item on the menu (for some reason) is seasonal and they can't serve it once the patio closes. Idk why they can't serve a WEDGE salad all year round!!! Seriously an awesome addition to you yearly menu. Should really consider it!! Please do it!!! Ughhhhh!

I planned a private party at Run of the Mill without ever having been to the establishment. I am from out of state and was looking for a convenient place to host a wedding shower. The team at Run of the Mill was very easy to work with and attentive to my questions and requests. There were also some last minute changes that they were able to fully accomodate which was truly AMAZING after having worked in the restaurant business for years! After having actually been to the establishment, I must say the venue and ambiance is terrific! It's a beautiful, historic spot, with a true laid back feel. The food and staff were fantastic and working with Rebecca on the party planning was a delight! I'm looking forward to my next visit---when I can hopefully sit on the deck and enjoy a fresh brew! Thanks Run of the Mill!!!!!

Started with buffalo wings and potato croquets. Both good! Turkey dinner was very good and Baked haddock was covered in shrimp and buttery deliciousness. Garlic mashed potatoes were lumpy and good. kids loved the oodles of noodles, which was just linguine and butter and the Grilled Chicken and bacon sandwich was simply seasoned and very good. Bacon was apparently quite good, too. Beers were good. I had an Alewife Ale, husband had an IPA that was fruity and hoppy. Too full for dessert. Very nice atmosphere and pleasant service.

First time we tried to eat here it was way too crowded and they said to come back in two hours for the dining room or wait for a spot at the bar (which means they're popular which is not a bad thing). We finally went on a weeknight and the service was great, waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and the food came out quickly. However, the beer was mediocre and the menu lacked a decent salad option. They really need something more than a Caesar or house salad as not everyone wants a 5000 calorie meal with their beer. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is cool though.

Brought some beer loving friends here on their weekend visit and we had a great experience. They have a big patio but we decided to eat inside and the space was very nice. The service was great and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the beer selection. Their sampler had seven selections on it and overall the beer was very good. The food was great all around as well. The half order of fish and chips was huge and a great deal at 9.25. I had the prime rib special that was delicious and came with garlic mashed potatoes that I could eat every day. Lots of vegetarian options for our non-meat eater and a varied menu in general. I can't wait to go back and try their beer and cheese soup. This spot is definitely a keeper.

Been to this place a ton and it's great every time! The bug lager is awesome, as well as the beer cheese soup. They have a lot of good specials in the summer with local veggies. One of my favorites in the area.

Boo. This place has really gone down hill. Too bad. Second time in a row of bad food, absent waitress and expensive compared to other places. Gonna take a lot to get me back.

My wife and I visited Run of the Mill this afternoon for a late lunch on their patio. The food was excellent as was the service. The only reason for this low rating related to a group of people who came into the patio, starting with 3 and winding up with 7 or 8. They were offensively self-centered, noisy to an extreme and totally inconsiderate of anyone who was within a city block of them. . They shouted, they cackled. I believe that the Run of the Mill staff should have asked this group to attempt to keep the noise level down to a roar and consider the other diners. Some might suggest that we should have said something. However, considering the volume and piercing nature of the noise, we should not have had to. I realize that some restaurants like to feature loud environments for whatever reason. However, this was beyond the pale and not what we have experienced previously. I realize that this group spent far more than we did. However, we had been frequent customers winter and summer. Run of the Mill had been one of our favorite restaurants.

Awesome place!! We entered to a bustling front area where we asked for a table for 2. They said "45 min" so we took our number and decided to wait in the bar area. We were lucky enough to get 2 seats together so we decided to eat there. The bartender was busy but still took the time to explain the house-brewed beers on taps and pour a few samples. We got the Summer Wheat and the Rye-PA. Both great. Dinner time: My GF got the pot roast w/ garlic smashed potatoes and green beans from the regular menu. I ordered from the specials menu and got the Mojo marinated flank steak w/ Chipotle mashed potatoes and the same green beans. She was happy with her meal, I was ecstatic! The flank was very flavorful and cooked to a perfect medium rare. My potatoes were ridiculous! They add the adobo sauce and minced chipotles to the mashed 'taters which I thought sounded a bit odd before trying it. I'll be stealing this recipe! There was a band (Thursday night) and when they started, it got pretty loud in the bar area. But that's what's supposed to happen when a band starts playing in a bar area. They sounded good but we didn't stay very long. We had to get on the road for the long drive back to southern NH. We'll be back!

Probably was the first time I ever ordered fish and chips - ever - without finding something to gripe about. Food was fantastic as was the ambience. Won't be a regular stop for me (I'm a cheapskate) but is definitely on the special occasions shortlist. My only real grumble was the parking - being an old mill you had to kind of send your way around trying to find the correct lot. Once parked though the view from the lot overlooking the river was amazing.

This place definitely had character! Decent beers (nothing that stood out, but I did like their Octoberfest the most). Great prices- hubby and I paid $13 for a sample paddle and 2 pints. We didn't try the food. We came by on a Thursday afternoon, and as we were leaving it seemed like a lot of people were getting out of work and starting to come by. There's a little patio with outdoor seating, and service was attentive.

Good food and beer. One of my personal favorites is their beer and cheese soup it features a different house brew and a different cheese and is constantly changing. The service on the other hand is usually terrible especially if you sit at the bar. It's almost like it's an inconvenience for the bartender to serve you food. Table service is a little better but still not up to standard it should be. Also the server's should automatically bring you the special menu opposed to having to ask or look across the room at a scribbled chalk board.

We love this place! Have been here several times over the past few years. The food is always excellent, they have a diverse menu and everything we have ever had was delicious. Prices are right on point for the area and the portions are a good size.

Loved this place; friendly staff, great beers, excellent convo with laid-back people at the bar. I did not eat, but a few of the patrons around me did and their good looked delicious (cleaned their plates pretty well!). Definitely going back, as it's not far from my house. Once I have had a sample a few thing off the menu, I will update the review.

Maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself by giving Run of the Mill 5 stars after one visit, but it feels like the right thing to do. The food was really good, the service matched the food (thanks, Courtney), the atmosphere was everything you'd expect from a restored mill building, and the prices were reasonable. I want to come back and try more of the menu. Looking at the happy people all around me, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

I don't know much about the Saco area, so when I found myself in the area for dinner time, I checked Yelp and Foursquare for some reviews. It sounded like there was a pretty solid consensus that this place was pretty good - and I've gotta agree. Key points that led me to a 5-star rating: the atmosphere, the price, and the food. I should start out by saying that I don't drink; I can't be a good judge of the brewery portion, though it seems like those who were drinking we're having quite a good time. The atmosphere, though, was awesome even without any alcohol. I sat near the bar, and there was a ton of mingling going on while a couple TVs showed a replay of a UMaine men's hockey game. A band belted out some southern rock on this particular Saturday night, and the old mill feel only made the experience even better. The place is beautiful AND entertaining. The food was incredible. I had the half portion of fish and chips, which turned out to be plenty for me. I swapped out the fries for some mashed potatoes, kept the slaw, and had some water. The fish was incredibly fresh; I couldn't really believe how much it exceeded my expectations when I took my first bite (never know what quality of fish you'll get in a pub or brewhouse). The batter was rich and flavorful but not too greasy or heavy. The potatoes were very, very flavorful (I'd recommend the fish & potatoes combo if you're looking for a good meal), and the slaw was great, too. The meal came to a total of $9.10 before tip. For the portion of fish, especially in such a great environment, I thought it was extremely reasonable. It's tough to find a downside for the review. My server was noticeably busy, but she was fairly responsive. Any wait was nowhere near detracting from the five stars! I can't wait to go back.

We love it here! Great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious pub food. The fish sandwich us scrumptious--real fresh fish, not one of those frozen squares you'll get at a chain. Seafood chowder is full of seafood in a thick, creamy base (filling). Really, we come here a lot and are always happy with whatever we order.

THE BEST place to go in the area. Kid-friendly, family-friendly - they handle large crowds well. Awesome place to hang both indoors and outdoors - it's in an old Mill building so it's all impressive. They have live music in the summers and that's always a good time as well. Their outdoor patio area is a great place to hang on a beautiful summer day. The rustic nature of the Mill building is a real kick, and the food is always at least fantastic. But the beer is the main draw - simply phenomenal. In fact, I WANT to rate them a "1" so nobody else goes there and learns the secret!! Awesome choices of their homebrews, always a guest tap or two, and their cask conditioned choice of the day is not to be missed if you're into that sort of thing! Also, the food is simply great. Just plain great. My kids ask to go here all the time because they think the food is great. Adults will love the variety and the fact that the staff takes a lot of pride in the place - it's clean, the portions are large, and an unfilled glass is pounced upon by the staff! You will not be disappointed at all - bring your friends/bring your family, it's the BEST PUB in Southern Maine.

Run of the Mill is one of my favorite local restaurants. All vegetarians & vegans must try the veggie burger! It's homemade with lentils; the best I've ever tried! The fries here are amazing. My boyfriend enjoys the wings and Mac and cheese. I've always experienced good service as well.

I loved this place! Had the garden gazpacho and it was my first gazpacho ever. Very good! Slightly oniony. I got the deck salad and they ran out of ricotta so I got feta. It was great! The view from the deck was good too. My husband and I always get a beer sampler at every brewery we go to and I loved a lot of the beers they served, especially summerwheat. And can't beat the $5 price on the beer paddle! What a deal!

I loved the atmosphere at Run of the mill, the service was great Brian was our waiter and he was very nice and my mother asks for a lot of things and usually a lot of waiters can get frustrated but Brian was very helpful and nice. I wish we would have eaten outside because they had entertainment, after we were done eating we went out on the deck and it was beautiful. The food was good I got the mill wrap with home cut fries. All and all nice place, and next time we go were going to eat on the deck.

Run of the mill is hard to spot--looks like an old factory building, not enough signage to draw you in if you have not heard of it via word of mouth. It had wonderful waterfront seating on a large patio that includes a full bar. Umbrella's offer shade from the sun and wait staff was attentive and friendly. A must have is the beer paddle. A sampler that includes a refreshing variety of brews--my favorite was the Bug Beer. Light, flowery and low on hops. I shared a Large Caesar salad with my fellow diner. Not over dressed and homemade croutons for $7 and change. I got a grilled chicken sandwich which came with their homemade "snazzy" dressing. Spicy sweet and dee-lish! My friend had the bangers and mash which we yummy and came with fresh asparagus. On a later visit we have sampled the beer cheese soup which I am not the biggest fan of, and it was served with only 3 pretzels. Really needed some vegetables, bread, or more pretzels to enjoy with the rich and creamy soup. They offer trivia and games and events on different nights so be sure to check if you are looking for after hours social--I'm sure this place is hopping in the wee hours! Two great experiences, with nothing to complain about!

Do not go unless you want great good and great drinks. I remember the mill when I was a kid and it was ugly. What they've done to it is phenomenal!!! Again, great food and drink! That was my Summer review. Off season the place does not taste great and most people reviewing it probably don't know enough to pay attention to their palate. Since Run of the Mill boasts seasonal local ingredients it only makes sense that the quality goes down in the winter months. So, Summer; Great Place!! Winter; go to Rapid Rays...

Fantastic! Was up in the area on business and this was recommended. On a cold and icky December night it was packed for trivia night. Bug Lager was excellent! Stuffed Haddock was great! Excellent Spinach Artichoke Dip in a bread bowl.

Good source of good food, good beer and pub ambiance. On various trips, I have selected standard pub fare (pizza), something a little different (fish tacos) and comfort food (shepherd's pie). Everything was good. It is large and can be loud, but comfortable for families and large groups.

I came here as part of the Maine Brew Bus, but wanted to give this place a separate review because it is where we stopped for lunch and because of how great we all thought it was! We each were treated to a flight of seven beers, all really great with the IPA being the standout. Lunch was a burger, chicken sandwich or fish sandwich depending on what you selected beforehand. I had a cheeseburger and fries and, let me tell you, it takes a lot for me to say a burger was a standout but this was it! I only wish I lived a little bit closer to this pub/brewery but it is probably good for my wallet and waistline that I don't!

My parents love this place and after talking about it on several occasions, we were finally able to join them on our way home from our last visit to Maine. As huge fans of The Liberal Cup in Augusta, we were anxious to try their "sister restaurant". I'm going to preface this review by saying that I am NOT taking a star away for the server we had even though I probably should be but I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was new and maybe a little bit overwhelmed. This is the story; it was Memorial Day, so a Monday, and perhaps he wasn't used to the crowd as I suspect a typical Monday at lunch time is a bit quieter. So I order the beer sampler and my boyfriend a beer as well as my dad. He cards me, so clearly he got my order correct. He returns with the beers and places a lemonade in front of me (actually between my dad and I, prompting me to say, "dad did you order a lemonade?") to which the server whipped around and was like "oh I have so many drink orders..." and whisks it away. No sampler. He returns to take our orders. I remind him of my sampler. Oh right, let me go check on it. He comes back to the area we were seated in (outside on the patio) a few more times. Still no sampler. Dad gets up, finds him and asks him about the sampler. He forgot, again. FINALLY get my sampler. About 2.5 minutes before our food comes out. I ordered the chicken-salad salad. They have the same one at The Liberal Cup and it was delicious as always. My boyfriend got the buffalo chicken chimis and they were only meh and the portion was skimpy. They were definitely good and edible but they seemed like they could possibly have been previously frozen (I'm sure they weren't but they were just lacking that unique touch I was expecting). They also came with a bath of dipping sauce that was kind of huge given the portion size. My parents shared the same 2 entrees so I have nothing else to review food wise. The beer was good, as I expected, and the atmosphere was really cool. We ate outside because it was beautiful but walked through the inside to use the restrooms and to enter/exit. If I'm even in the area again, I will be sure to come back and grab another bite and brew (I'll probably just skip the sampler ;) ).

Since Run of the Mill is located in an old brick building that used to be a paper mill it is unassuming from the outside. I've passed by it probably 50 times in my lifetime without giving it a second glance. But after reading the yelp reviews I decided to give it a chance and boy am I happy I did. First off, Run of the Mill is BIG. There is an indoor area and an outdoor patio area that overlooks the Saco River. I took a seat at the outside bar and got myself a paddle, which is a sampling of 7 of their beers which were brewed on premises. I especially like the Bug Lager, Dog Days Summer Wheat and Tarbox Cream Stout. The bartender, Andy, was on point and joking around with the customers. My clam chowder and sweet potato fries were very good as well. Great atmosphere, delicious food and low prices make this place a five star winner.

Was up in Saco, Maine...giving my daughter a tour of the UNE campus and the tour guide recommended this establishment to me. It was late afternoon and the dinner crowd hadn't shown up yet. After reading the recommendations on yelp ... We all pretty much knew what we wanted. The fish and chips and garlic mashed potatoes were delicious! I had a hamburger special that was cooked just the way I ordered it...portion sizes were large...being a brew house .... I had to try the beer sampler...they will not disappoint...nice descriptions of all the beers are on the menu...One big issue....two of my sampler glasses were chipped..one bad enough...that if I didn't catch it...I may have cut my lip. I pointed it out to the waitress and she took the glasses and threw them away...service was good...overall excellent food and beer...

As a vegetarian/vegan traveling with family, and in seafood country, options are scare and you usually take what you can get, but on occasion you find a place that puts some effort into it and the veggie burger here is great. It is not some microwaved patty, but hand made. Add a nice cold beer and sweet potato fries and it was a great dinner out with family.

Got the lobster blt and it was pretty awesome. It was so good. Also got a pina colada and it was so good I've been craving it ever since. They also have gluten free options, which is a plus. We sat outside and the view is really cute. I would say it is pretty kid friendly. My only con was that our waitress was not the brightest bulb in the box and that is being generous. We had to keep asking for stuff, including our drinks. She just seemed out in left field, but I don't think all the service is bad, we just got a bad waitress.

WOW. This place is awesome, went here with two friends who eat here every week atleast once...so expecation was high. The inside decor is like your still eating inside the old mill. Food was interesting by description and the beer cheese soup is the bomb. Top 10 favorite restaurants on my list now

Best bar food I've ever had. They obligingly fulfilled my request for a reubenized vegi burger. It was delicious. My meat-eater friend had the best meatloaf he'd ever had in his life. (Which, maybe being meat-loaf isn't too hard?) The beer was all very good with fun names like Bug Light and Alewife Ale (thought the Cassk Kickin' Conditioned Ale was a little flat). The staff were the five-star clincher, though. At least 3 staff came by to say hi us and give us recommendations for our East Coast brewery tour. Thanks for the tips, Run of the Mill!

Had another great experience here a few weeks ago during our vacation to OOB and the surrounding area. We made a reservation the night before, which was helpful given that it was a busy Saturday night. Upon being seated, we realized our table was incredibly wobbly, which given the age of the mill itself was not surprising, since the floor is uneven in some spots. We asked our waiter if we could move, because the uneven tilt of the table was really noticeable. A glass would hardly have been able to stand upright on it without sliding or spilling. At first he said they were booked solid that evening and there was really no other place for us to sit. We were disappointed and considered going elsewhere, but not before the waiter came back and told us to follow him. We followed him to an empty, closed off room that was not going to be open that evening - I assume it is normally used for private parties. We were seated at a table in this area, and proceeded to enjoy our dinner completely by ourselves - how wonderful! We loved it, and were very appreciative of their accomodating attitude. We enjoyed our meals thoroughly - the food was fantastic as usual. We were also pleased by the selection of beers for the season, which we also enjoyed with our food. This is our favorite place to eat in this area, and we already can't wait to come back next summer!

Very friendly waitstaff and attentive. Pub food menu is very good. Shepard Pie was delicious. Twin lobster special for 18.95 was excellent also. Fantastic homemade beers on tap including one specially conditioned cask ale. This place was packed in the middle of the week, and for good reason. The beer is cold, and locally brewed. I love these types of places!

This place was great. I went here when I was camping and I had a golden haddock sandwich with cheddar cheese, it was delicious. It was a very nice place inside and out and was very cool how it was inside the old mills. I would recommend this place to anyone.

This place is top notch. I am a tough customer because I am very particular about my salads (as an entree) and my coffee and both were amazing at this restaurant. Great beer selection (I am told). I am a wine drinker and very much enjoyed that they had my fav (pinot grigio) and it was good--most beer places totally drop the ball on wine. Not this place! Everyone at the table (a party of 11) enjoyed their meals.

Had dinner here one night with my mom. It was a busy night, we ordered fried calamari for an app. The 'fried' calamari was a let down. It was poorly and unevenly breaded/coated leaving visible parts of the squid bare. It was NOT crispy, more soggy than anything. Served with a unappetizing dill/mayo sauce. As I mentioned in my first review, the dill is not fresh. It is the unpleasant color of dried herbs. We lingered on waiting for our entrees and I had the urge to try that beer and cheese soup, mom ordered a cup of clam chowder. My beer and cheese soup severely lacked cheese flavor and salt. I could taste the beer for sure, but it was a creamy based white soup with a hint of beer, not too much of cheese and that was really it. More like a beer flavored roux. Disappointed. Mom's clam chowder on the other hand was a home run. It was creamy, well seasoned, big chunks of potato and good sized clams. The soup itself could have been thicker, but besides that, it was honestly one of the best tasting clam chowders I have ever tasted because it tasted more than just cream like most chowders do. Entrees mom ordered seafood scampi, me baked stuffed haddock. Mom's scampi was fine. 4 half dollar sized scallops, 6 large shrimp, 4 mussels, and lobster claw meat. Now, before you get excited, the claw meat wasn't what I expected. Were there 4-5 pieces of it? Yes, but it wasn't from what I consider the 'palm' of the pincher/crushed. We got the tips of the 'claw' meat, so the thinnest part, not the meaty part from the palm. My family and I actually find the part of the claw served the part we don't actually eat. It was served with a big portion of pasta, which was seasoned OKAY. It needed salt, but besides that mom was happy. My baked stuffed haddock that came with house veggies of sliced carrot medallions and mashed red skinned potatoes was about the same. The carrots were gross, really. It tasted a little like chemicals..and the potatoes were over mashed to where they were gluey and needed salt. The haddock itself had to be over baked because there was that over baked tough skin/layer on the fish when you over bake any kind of meat which was tough and leathery. I actually had to use a knife to cut parts of it. Yes, a knife to cut haddock, I think that speaks for itself. Flavor wise, it was fine. It didn't wow me. All in all, I don't think I'd come back here for the entrees.. stick to the sandwiches and the clam chowder. I just wasn't impressed, let down even. Service I can say was IMPECCABLE this time. But this could be for the fact that it was NYE. food timing could have been better though. Our entrees took awhile to come out even after we ordered soups after we finished our app. But our waitress was so sweet, the busers/runners were SO nice. She checked on us often, but it wasn't in a way that was annoying at all.

Had the beer sampler which is a must at any brewery. Some hits and misses, but I really enjoyed the porter. Food was great I had a burger and my husband had the drunken pot roast which was outstanding. A great place! I made a reservation through their website which I was glad about since there was a wait when we got there at 6pm on a Saturday night.

This place is awesome. I really can't understand where the negative reviews are coming from. I went over Valentine's Day weekend with my boyfriend on a Friday night. The waitress was great! She was super friendly and attentive and had a good sense of humor. She was also really knowledgeable about the food and the beer. I got a cheeseburger and my boyfriend got a salmon burger, both of which were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The sides and garnishes were great and matched up very well. The menu isn't overwhelmingly huge but has plenty of options for all tastes and eating habits. The beer was really good too - very interesting and delicious takes on the different types of brews. I tried the cream stout and my boyfriend had the bug lager and we'd recommend them both. The only thing that was a little bit odd was that there were no descriptions of the beers on the menu or the board posting, so we were guessing when it came to categories like "ale" that are very much open to interpretation these days. But honestly, our guesses turned out to be great choices and I don't doubt that the other beers on their menu are excellent as well. To further blow us away, 2 meals (one of them fish), 3 beers, and 2 desserts only ran us $40. Of course, we left a big tip for our awesome server. I wish I could remember her name to give her credit here. You should go here.

Weve been wanting to come here for a while, and today, we finally decided to go. Even though the place was busy, there was plenty of available seating that was spread apart the restaurants' large area. This made it so that the ambience was still quiet, which was an unexpected bonus. Two of the people in our party ordered a beer and cheese soup which surprisingly wasnt thick but tasted excellent, according to both of them. Looking at the menu, it appeared that there were plenty of healthy options that were still classic pub food. I ordered a greek salad with grilled salmon. The salad was excellent and came with plenty of black olives, which is uncommon with many of the Greek salads I've ordered over the years, for whatever reason. The salmon tasted fresh and delicious. We will definitely be coming back to this place.

Killer microbrews and the food is just as good! Large portions and well prepared pub fare. Prices are very reasonable as well. Try the fish and chips. they're the best I've ever had anywhere. In nice weather, the back patio is a great place to enjoy food or drinks right next to the Saco River. However, in worse weather, the inside is very spacious and nicely laid out. Great atmosphere.

Been twice now. The first experience seemed more "run of the mill" but the second was great. The waitress, I wish I remembered her name, was fantastic and thoughtful. The food was very tasty and price was decent. Seating in August was both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor experience was nice but the outside could use better lighting. We did have to use our cell phones to illuminate the menu. Other than that it was great.

I heard lots of great things about this restaurant but was very disappointed. Given, the restaurant was loud and it was tough for her to hear our orders but instead of saying "excuse me" or "I'm sorry, what was that?" she barked out "what?" , very rude. One of my biggest problems with service lately is when a server other than our own brings the food. You can't ask for drinks or other things when this happens. Owners, have the server present when the food comes out! I had to track down my waitress at the waitress stand to get a glass of wine with my food. On the food end, the burgers in my party looked good and everyone liked them. I got the pot roast, it was very dry.

Everything you hope for in a brew pub, solid food, good beer, friendly waitstaff, cozy atmosphere, beautiful patio in the summer. I'm always happy here!

Our third (and last) time dining here. A Sat. night and they were packed. 3 of us waited in the bar where the service was very good, we waited about 45 minutes but didn't mind. We ordered some appetizers which didn't arrive before we got our table, the hostess arranged to have them meet us at our table. Our waitress met us, assessed our drink needs, and gave us some time to peruse the menu. So far so good. Appetizers came, bone in chicken wings (ok) and crab cakes (ok but dry). We all ordered a house salad and the prime rib. Our salads arrived, lovely, we started tucking into them, and we're still munching on our appy's, and the waitress arrived with our prime ribs. I said "Seriously? The table is full, just where do you expect us to put those plates?" She stood there and waited for us to make room. Terrible timing. The prime rib was the worst I had ever had. Dry. Tough. Tasteless. Our first meal there was great, our 2nd meal had some issues, this meal was even worse. We will not be back. Oh, and the waitress kept bugging us for our bill, apparently she was more interested in turning the table than in making us happy. We normally tip 20%+. This time was 10% :( We may stop in to fill a growler but we won't be eating there again.

Where to begin? I've lived in Saco for 3 years and have never found a place nearly as nice as this. We went for a late lunch on a Saturday. Parking was slightly adventurous, but adequate. Seat yourself. Chose from a beautiful bar area or a wide open dining area. All seating areas are spacious. Since it's February in Maine, the patio area was closed but we're definitely coming back when it's warmer. They brew their own beer and I recommend the sample paddle. 7 3oz samples for $5.00. Well worth it to help you chose your favorite. Food is very good at very reasonable prices! Whatever you order, make sure someone in your party orders the French fries. Our daughter had fries with her grilled cheese and we ate them all. The brick island burger was fantastic and my wife's wrap was really good too...not better than the fries though. The wait staff was also very pleasant...nice without hovering. Thanks for opening on an otherwise depressing island. We can't wait to go back!

My husband took me here for Mothers Day with our four kids. Long story short we were seated and were ignored for over 20 minutes. Four tables were seated after us and were all waited on. We asked the hostess if we were forgotten about and he said he would send someone over. When the table next ton us who just got seated (now a fifth table) was waited on (seated after us but waited on before us) we eventually got up and decided to leave. We requested to speak to a manager. His initial reaction was somewhat unapologetic. When we told him we were leaving he (insincerely) asked if there was anything he could do. How disappointing!

I've eaten here 3 or 4 times now and am consistently treated to solid beers and well above average pub food. The food easily outshines other local breweries like Sebago and Grittys. Burger is great, as is the Cobb salad, but for a real treat have the beer cheese soup.

Classic old mill building converted to brew pub. Nice wide open space. The menu is classic British pub Many good choices. I had the pot roast. Not like moms but ok. Everyone else at the table was happy with their meals. I would go back

Recently went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner and sorry to say it was pretty bad. We started with some appetizers, the wings where pretty solid but the Bruschetta was just terrible. I ended up getting a burger and fry's figuring I was playing it safe and would have a great meal. The burger was ordered medium but came extremely well done and even a little cold with toppings I had requested NOT to get. The fries where burnt to a brown and black color and appeared to be the bottom of the bag scraps. The beer however was pretty good, but I only remember having "The Bug" and forget the others. Service while nice and cheerful was extremely slow.

Great place for lunch or dinner. The Beer Cheese soup is the best and they always have a different type everyday. I would recommend eating indoor instead of outside. Every time I've eaten outside the service as been very slow, though the view of the Saco river is nice.

I have never had something I did not enjoy here. Amazing food, great beers, and one of the only places nearby to sell Scrumpy's-- an amazing hard cider! Great service, great food, great atmosphere!!

I always enjoy the Dog Days Summer Wheat and the atmosphere on the deck. I was happy to learn their veggie burger is vegan. Good place to spend an evening in Saco. Check it out!

Well, it's been more than a year since our first visit, and I am happy to disagree with some of the more negative reviews that have been put up here in the meantime. In fact, I would say that the service and especially the food have significantly improved, with a much more consistent quality of ingredients and finished product. Dishes are more adequately spiced, portion size is better, and everything about the food overall is just better! My earlier recommendation of the shepherd's pie still stands, at this is one of their very best meals, but I would also recommend getting a plate of fries either to start with or as something to graze on at the bar. They are tremendous! These are double fried, so they might be a bit crunchier than you are used to at more typical, chain-style restaurants, but you will find them very similar to the hot, fresh, and delicious fries you get at the fair! Another improved dish has been the clam chowder. I am not quite ready to list it as one of my favorite clam chowders, but it is very good with lots of chunky potatoes and decent amounts of clams. Of course, the beer selection is still always changing, and always excellent! First timers should consider the paddle to get a good feeling for what is offered at this establishment, but I have been enjoying the Altbier this January. It has a lighter, sweet taste with just a hint of hoppiness and a bit of bitterness, but still has a good, full body and deep red color. I am looking forward to seeing the Porter arrive within the next couple of months! The atmosphere of the restaurant has changed a bit too, with more decoration and attractive decor, but still with deference to the beautiful architecture that is a New England mill building. The deck is not available currently, as we are enjoying a typical cold and snowy Maine winter, but this is a nice option for the warmer weather. Just be aware that the menu on the deck is different, so if there is a favorite meal you are used to, enjoy it inside and head out for a beer afterwards! This place has gotten much busier since my first review, but it's due to the improvements that have been made and it's certainly for the better! Stop by on Thursdays and Sundays for live music, and enjoy one of the best establishments in the Biddeford/Saco area!

I was up for another round of Trivia this past Monday night. Still good! I got a delicious turkey and avocado club. French fries (yes, there's a theme...see other posts from Maine) were a bit greasy and thus hard on the stomach. However, the beer was great, service was awesome, and Mike Beaudette as the Trivia man was great!!

Not good at all. We tried the seven beer sampler (they only had six) and couldn't decide which one was palatable enough to drink another pint of. my wife decided on the "guest" beer which they don't make. The food wasn't anything to write home about. I would say the name of the place says it all: "Run of the MIll."

A very enjoyable setting to enjoy a meal, especially if you are lucky enough to have a warm summer Maine night and can sit on the patio. Try the fish taco along with a glass of local ale. The wedge salad is also delicious.

We gave it a third try after two disappointing trips. The food was very good and the service was as well, however they still cannot make an Irish coffee.

Sister restaurant to The Liberal Cup in Hallowell (same menu and beers). Delicious pub food (great burgers and Shepard's pie) and home brewed beer. Get the sampler :) Good pub atmosphere and a lovely setting in an old mill. Definitely recommended.

The beer was excellent. The deck outside has a nice atmosphere. The chicken salad was very tasty with unusual ingredients. The meatloaf was interesting, but I think I would try something else next time. Our service was only average, but I saw more attentive wait-staff at other tables, so it appears to be hit-or-miss. The prices were reasonable. We would go back.
