This review is for the restaurant downstairs... Haven't been here in a few years. A short time ago they had a fire which resulted in a renovation and supposedly a new menu, so we thought we'd give it another go. Big mistake. How does a cup of corn chowder come to the table with film on it? Really. Scoop to serve? It had to have been sitting under a heat source or something. Bland, tasteless. Steamed clams on special. Ordered them. They were good, but, again, bland. The "butter" was an oil/margarine blend, not butter. For an Irish Pub, though, how about kicking things up a level - like steaming the clams with Guinness or something to give it an Irish twist. Lazy. Daughter ordered the thanksgiving meal. Potatoes bland, under-seasoned with watery, bland gravy. Stuffing was box/stove-top style. Not good. I ordered a cheeseburger. Waitress didn't ask about my temperature preference, and walked away, so I had to call her back to tell her that I wanted it medium-well. It came to the table well done. My wife's french fries never made it to the table, although it did make it onto the bill. Disorganized. Even with this many problems, I thought of just writing a letter to the owners. However when I was paying, a woman who was either the manager or one of the owners (she was handing out paychecks) was scolding a waitress that she believed had given a customer free gravy on her mashed potatoes. Yes. That's right. At this restaurant you have to pay extra for tasteless watery gravy if you want something on top of your mashed potatoes. The woman said, "When you go to a restaurant and ask for gravy, you should expect to pay for it. It doesn't come free." The waitress asked "how much" and the woman replied, "50 cents. It's 50 cents." A moment later, the waitress realized that it had, in fact, been added to the bill - and the computer charged "35 cents" So the waitress was yelled at (in front of customers no less) for nothing, and the manager even didn't even know the right price." This was the final straw for me. I'm convinced that they're going through the motions and don't actually care about their customers. I won't be back.

Do not miss this place. Great fresh seafood cold beer and a friendly staff. Have the seafood stew. It has a little of everything in it!

Four of us went to the Kerrymen for lunch on Sunday. This is a review of the restaurant (downstairs) only, not the bar which is upstairs. Simply put, the Kerrymen is a disappointment on many levels. First, there's nothing Irish about this place except maybe the green plastic tablecloths. Despite the tag line about it being a piece of the Emerald Isle, a menu full of Lasagna, Chop Suey, and Shrimp stir fry doesn't make me want to come back for St. Patricks Day. I'm not sure that a few cardboard shamrocks on the wall would do it, but something ought to make me think of Ireland. A little Celtic music maybe? Second, there's the ambiance. There's nothing happening here and this place apparently hasn't been refurbished in forever. It was clean, but it wasn't anything to look at. And there was only one person in the place that seemed to be under 50, a kid who was out to lunch with (I'm guessing) grandma. There's nothing wrong with a restaurant full of old-timers, it just looks like the patrons are the same age as the decor. The good news is that was quiet and peaceful. If there's one thing about old people, they're usually well behaved in public. Third, there's the food. It's okay but nothing special. The chicken parm was in a surprisingly spicy sauce. The stir fry had a serious amount of old fashioned sweet and sour sauce in it. The salads looked big and the pizzas looked decent too. The food seemed to be right off of a 60's menu except for the prices, and they were still pretty good. Fourth, service was slow. Maybe this was the kitchen's fault because once the food came, somebody checked on our water glasses every few minutes. The problem was that the food took forever. I'm not expecting the kind of speed that you'll find in a fast food restaurant, but I eat out frequently and I have a good idea how long things take. Finally, parking is in an obscure lot down a side street, and it seemed to be unmarked. Then after you park, the entrance is a small door on the side of the building. This is the kind of place you have to know about before you go, and in my opinion you're not likely to go if you're familiar with it. So did I like ANYTHING about the Kerrymen? Yes. It wasn't expensive. The servers cared, though they didn't seem surprised that the food was slow in coming out of the kitchen. And when the food comes out, it won't make you sick. Wander in here hungry, and you'll leave with a full stomach and money left in your wallet. That's worth something but next time I'm going to wander elsewhere.

I had the lobster pie and it was so good. The fries were freshly cut and delicious. Nice and crispy on outside and soft in the middle.

After not going to this place for years, we stopped in for dinner. We were seated quickly as the restaurant was nearly empty. We ordered a couple sodas and waters which came quickly. We kept it fairly simple and got the chicken tender meal and a Greek pizza. Now to keep it fair, the food was delicious besides the warm Cole slaw. The cooks nailed the Greek pizza which wasn't even on the menu. However the service was lacking. My water and soda both sat empty as I ate until I finally just asked for refills despite the waitress walking by many times. Then we got to listen to the employees gab about their personal lives just a few feet from our table. The place was clearly over staffed for the current time and they were bored. Anyways, good on the cooks for the food taste and quality, but in an empty restaurant, a customer shouldn't have to ask for more drinks and certainly should not have to listen to workers gabbing about personal matters. Seriously though, the Greek pizza was phenomenal. Maybe I'll order it to go next time.

It's been a while since we're been here and we're really glad that we stopped in. The dining room is down stairs and the pub is upstairs with a music venue. The dinning room is comfortable and bright with a homey feeling. The service was pleasant and friendly and someone spoke up and acknowledged us when we arrived. We had the Shepard's Pie and the Chicken Parm, both with an additional small side salad. Oh yes, the bar poured a beautiful Black and Tan. Overall, Kerrymen Pub is a good solid home-style cooking place that's worth revisiting.

I was advised to go here by my aunt while we were on vacation. Being that it is a pub and had no customers, I was unsure. Three of us ordered the lobster pie (Holy Toledo)!!OMG- it was sooooo Yummy! Better than having a lobster to dunk in butter. It was loaded with butter and a bread crumb type topping- it was amazing! The other two in our party ordered fried clams and shrimp and were equally happy with their meals. Quick friendly service- don't let the name "pub" scare you!!!

Nice enough people but slow and confused. Very slow service. Not many customers but the food took forever. There seemed to be entry of servers and another one who seemed to be directing traffic and telling the servers what to do. Fried clam dinner was pretty small, with most of the lower portion being French fries. Also, the clams were too chewy and four of the clams had shells in them. And it seemed to take an act if Congress to get the tartar sauce delivered to the table.

Got the fried clam dinner...very small portions, overcooked and not that tasty for the above average price. Waitress came to the table maybe three times and we had to ask for refills, they weren't offered. Entranceway smelt like a bathroom. Terrible service and under average food. Not recommended.

Food is decent and portions are good. Friendly staff. However, find another place for breakfast. The service is disorganized and the wait is forever. We were in the place for 2 hours for a simple breakfast that any other well run place would have only taken 30 minutes. Management needs to train the staff better. Oh well, we were told to run for the hills as we walked iby another couple. Shame on us for not heeding the advice.

I have been to the Kerrymen Pub many times and it has been a hit and miss kind of restaurant.. haven't been in many years and thinking okay, they just reopened after a fire and renovated the restaurant, I will give it another chance. BAD BAD decision. First let me say, the waitstaff if fine, very pleasant. I didn't see a huge difference in the decor or the cleanliness of the restaurant. We ordered a couple beers and looked over the menu, not huge but okay. We both ordered chowder which was very good. I ordered fried scallops and my husband had the combo of fried shrimp and fried clams... Our food came and right from the time our plates were set down we were disappointed. My scallop dinner with just french fries was 18.99 there were probably 7 scallops and the plate was filled with fries. They were not cooked, I sent them back and they still weren't cooked right. My husbands combo plate was disgusting. A few clams and then a huge amount of cocktail shrimp. Nowhere on the menu did it say this was the type of shrimp.. With your eyes open or shut you wouldn't know what you were eating they were that bad.. again overpriced. Neither one of us ate very much of either dinner. The waitress knew something was wrong, and gave us a 4.00 discount off the bill.. we should have had them taken off the bill.. The people sitting behind us also had a problem and had money taken off their bill, again with the waitress apologizing. There is nothing worse then going out to dinner paying $70.00 and being so dissatisfied! If I could give this place minus stars I would. The food is substandard and the sad thing is they know it!!! I will never make the mistake of suggesting this place to anyone... Wendys' next store would have been a better choice!!

I am not a "foodie" by any means but I do know bad food when it's served to me! On a recent venture into this "restaurant" with my husband, I ordered eggplant parmasean. I truly regret not sending it back to the kitchen. It was horrible! At best, it was from a frozen package that suffered from freezer burn. It was chewy and the peel that was left on was uneatable. We will not return.
