We went on a Friday night. Only one other table in use. Positive is the drinks were good and inexpensive. Beer was also very inexpensive. Negatives were, the place needs updating and a good cleaning. It just feels rundown. Also the music was loud and annoying. Miso soup was great. The rest of our food was just ok. Took longer than usual to be prepared.

Hanabi is basically a hidden gem in small town Saco. I discovered this place a couple years ago and ordered a spicy crunchy tuna from them and was amazed at its taste, quality and freshness. Of course after having such an amazing first experience I decided to come back and ever since then, I have been a regular customer. I will honestly say that Hanabi has the best sushi I've ever tasted in my life --- I've been to many sushi restaurants and Hanabi still remains first on my list. There is only one chef so food may come out later than expected. If you are willing to wait a little longer than you usually do, you will not be disappointed. Perfection takes time! Mrs. Jung sushi is always consistent and every time you order you can expect it to taste as good as your first time. My personal favorite rolls are the Spicy Crunchy Tuna and the Spicy Calamari. Mexican Roll is always a good roll. Her spicy calamari appetizer is also my favorite and her bento boxes are great. Overall this small restaurant has a great atmosphere, a wonderful owner/chef who is always smiling and friendly, great food, and great service. Be sure to check it out if you're in sunny Saco, Maine.

Really nice people, carpeted but clean, unfortunately the sushi was not good. The fish was fresh, the presentation was nice enough but the combinations of flavors, the fish sauce, the spicy mayo, and the "hot sauce" not kidding, were all just a bad combination. We literally threw out 7 out of 9 rolls we got as take out. Very disappointed. Still looking for good sushi in southern Maine. The decor was also terrible. At pick up not sure if I was at a salon with the magazine options or at a restaurant. The fake roses in a vase literally had the dusty tags on still. The bathroom had obvious storage items. It just needs an overhaul and a decision on flavors. Mexican Hot sauce or Wasabi. Not both !

This was a very solid restaurant. I came on a Friday at around noon, and no one else was here the entire time. I got the Bulgogi Beef Lunch Box special, with seaweed salad, a Boston (salmon and avocado) roll, miso soup, white rice, and hot tea. All the food was good, and the tea was different (in a good way). It had a salty aftertaste which was quite delicious. The lady running the place was super nice. We saw her make all our food. But the trade-off of made-to-order is speed. Even as the only people in the restaurant, the service was slow. Definitely worth it, but slow. Other than that, I would definitely come to this place. It's worth a visit.

Good place which looks device. Old interior and mobile there but really good sushi. Had sushi deluxe and spicy salmon. A but better than the norm and reasonable

I use to live in Saco for over 3 years and recently moved to MA for school. One of the saddest parts about leaving Saco is not having Hanabi right down the road from my apartment. I'm not a sushi expert, but have eaten sushi at dozens of places and cities and can say that Hanabi is the best I have ever had. If you live in the area or are just passing through, definitely make the time to stop by and enjoy some of the best sushi you'll ever have.

So much for being open the hours you posted.....fail. The best way to lose potential customers is to bot be open when you're supposed to be.

Supplier is True World Foods and if you know anything about seafood this is the best.

As you enter into the small restaurant you can see the Itamae preparing the sushi. It is a bit desolate, as it is still a hidden gem. The atmosphere is pleasant though. The choices of rolls range from the basics to a wide range of specialty rolls. As there is usually only one person rolling sushi, be prepared to wait, its worth it. The seaweed is always fresh with no bad after taste. The fish is also fresh and of good quality. The wasabi is the best that I have had. I have never been disappointed with a roll, and have had almost all of them. They aren't cheap by any means, but they are very reasonable portions and well worth it. You are also helping a very friendly local business!

If this is your only choice for sushi in the Saco/Biddeford area, opt for Domino's Pizza instead. Or better yet, wait till you get back to Boston. The fish was not fresh by a long shot and it had the texture of having been out for a while. Our sushi and sashimi looked and tasted dry and left us wishing that we had dined elsewhere. Plus, the restaurant was completely empty during the dinner hour, so what does that tell you? Heed my advice, just say no to Hanabi.

My most recent trip to Hanabi was much better. All of the sushi was delicious and perfectly prepared, and the miso soup was very good. My wife's spicy pork dish was good but I wish that more fat had been trimmed from the pork before it was cooked. Service was quick and everything seemed very clean. We went to Hanabi on a Saturday night and just like last time, the restaurant was not crowded. I am very happy with Hanabi after this last visit and I look forward to going back soon.

Really good sushi! We got take-out--a combo platter and a crispy crab roll. Everything was fresh, well made, and delicious. But without a take out menu it's very hard to order--we couldn't find a website or on-line menu anywhere.

This is the only place I'll get sushi in southern Maine. The owner is super friendly. Her Korean food is pretty killer too. All of the kimchee is made from scratch.

I have enjoyed takeout here a few times, and finally ate in the other night. A very nice experience. The Bibimbap was incredible - the best I have had. I got a few pieces of sushi on the side, including salmon roe which was delicious, and generously portioned. And as always, the seaweed salad was killer. My only suggestion would be to redo the floors. I always find a carpeted dining area to be a turnoff, because even though the place is obviously clean, it's impossible to keep the carpet clean with all the traffic and food/drink. Rip them up and put a wood or laminate floor of some kind. It will give the impression of a fresher, cleaner dining experience, and give you easier maintenance over the years.

We have been to Hanabi several times. We have lived in the area for two years and only discovered Hanabi a few months ago. I would agree with others that the little restaurant could use a face lift, particularly the carpeting. The food however is remarkable! We have never had a disappointing meal. The rolls are fresh and delicious, the Bento Box is great and allows you to try several things. Come with an appetite. The Miso is so good. I really was not a fan of Miso, until I had it here. The wonderful woman that prepares the meal is gracious and really cares about what she is serving. Many times it will be a bit of a wait, but great food takes time. Be patient, order a large hot Saki and just relax. We will be a loyal customer and return often! DJ Biddeford

We stopped in Hanabi for a quick bite before a movie. Being that we were crunched for time (bad planning), our waiter was very kind and accommodating. The food came out in record time and not to mention, it was all very delicious! Thank you Hanabi! We will be returning again. :)

Formerly known as Sushi Place of Biddeford, Hanabi Restaurant is a low-key but good quality sushi and Japanese restaurant located in downtown Saco. The staff from Sushi Place has made the move across the river into a nicer, cleaner, and overall better location which has made quite a difference in how likely I am to visit this restaurant. The sushi ingredients are very good, but the execution is less than spectacular. The rolls are sometimes a little loose and can fall apart, but fortunately the taste of the food usually makes up for this minor shortfall. I would recommend the Maine roll (California roll with fresh crab) and any of the tempura shrimp rolls, they are sure to please! Soups are hot and tasty. The restaurant also has a small bar, so mixed drinks are available. A small sushi bar is available as well. The decor of the restaurant is a little sparse, but this is to be expected in a brand new setting. However, the convenience and overall ambience is significantly improved over the former location. Service is excellent, as the restaurant is still very new and has not yet been discovered by many people. If you are a sushi fan, or are even curious, give this place a try. Their ingredients are good, the prices are fair, and it's very easy to get a table quickly. One of my new regular places!

Maybe yelpie should stay in Boston because this is the best sushi around. I have eaten sushi all over the USA and this is definitely top shelf.
