Insanely good. I can't imagine anyone ever giving less than 5 stars. $14 for a small portion of pasta & clams... came with 6 fresh clams and perfectly seasoned with garlic slices, pancetta, parmesan. Yum! Pizza with gorgonzola was amazing. Had to add proscuitto-wrapped scallops once we saw an order. Served on squid ink-- YUM! Oven-roasted in front of us... perfection! This was, by far, our fanciest meal in Maine but we were fine to go in jeans and the staff was friendly and personable. The ingredients were fresh. Four of us-- entrees, two apps, two drinks, three desserts. $120. Not bad for all that we got. Highly recommend!! We've been staying at Samoset for four nights and wish we hadn't waited so long.

We really enjoyed this restaurant. We dined in and used the room service option. Breakfast was delicious. When dining in the restaurant there is a yummy breakfast buffet with a custom omelet station, waffles, fruit, bacon, scrambled eggs and sausage. They also had a lot of pastries and both hot and cold cereal. When we ordered room service, we had the panini with prosciutto and fontina cheese, we also had the Italian breakfast (croissant and cappuccino). The girls had pancakes and muffins. All were delicious - especially their coffee. We also had lunch and dinner in the restaurant as well. Over the course of 4 days, we had: Caesar salad with shrimp - very tasty Lobster ravioli - very good Burgers - my daughters liked them Spaghetti with clam sauce - great Lobster roll - so so - It had a weird taste What was really nice is that you can get a large or small portion of all the pastas. The wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very clean and beautifully appointed. The outdoor seating area is lovely. We would defiantly come back, but would steer clear of the lobster roll.

Gorgeous restaurant. Went for dinner and breakfast and enjoyed both. Had the chicken saltimbocca which was tender and fresh, with delicious mashed potatoes and vegetables. A little overpriced for what it was, but hey, you're at a resort. The blueberry pie for dessert was divine, as was the chocolate/coffee creme brulee. The breakfast buffet was divine, with scrumptious pastries (I must have had 4 of the blueberry strudels) and a delicious, fresh breakfast pizza with egg, cheese and vegetables. Waitstaff was very good and the views are excellent. The place is clean and trendy.

Their brunch is pretty good. Drinks are okay, but I ordered a sage martini and would never recommend this drink. They muddle the sage (good), but then do not strain it, so you end up being served a martini full of floating sage debris that is very unpleasant to drink (instead of straining it and then just putting a sage stalk in for garnish). When I asked the bartender to strain it and then just put a stalk in, he argued with me that that's how they make it - I insisted and he finally complied, but really? Who goes to a bar and wants a drink in which the herbs end up getting stuck in your teeth and the drink just looks like it's got floating dregs in it? We also ate dinner while staying for the week. Service was good, but staff needs more training. For the quality and cost of a restaurant, we expect far better trained staff. our table was not ready and the hostess asked us to check back in another 5-10 minutes - the bar is right next to the dining room, it wasn't busy, and she should have said she would come and get us when the table was ready. That's the difference between a well trained, high quality restaurant and one that's not so much. I ordered off the regular dinner menu and got 1/2 a lobster (lobster was split down the middle), sprinkled generously w/ some kind of green powder - my meal was very dry, hardly any flavor and waitress didn't come back for quite a while and when she did, I asked for butter to go with the lobster and she apologized for forgetting it (brought it quickly, but who serves this kind of lobster w/out butter?). (See photo shared by RobF for lobster dinner, to see what I mean. Looks pretty, but the veggies were way undercooked, despite looking like it was liberally spiced, it wasn't, and the meal was very dry). We also ordered apps: bacon wrapped scalloped potatoes and mushroom gnocchi (scallops were good, but the gnocchi was the best we've ever had!) Husband ordered the special: filet medallions w/ scallops & gorgonzola mashed potatoes (I was weaned on Maine lobster and for the first time in my life, was envious of my husband's dinner over mine!). The special was perfectly prepared, perfectly seasoned. Sons ordered other menu items and were very happy with them. I ate very little of my lobster meal due to the fact that it was so dry and then stone cold by the time the waitress brought the butter. I ended up bringing it back to our suite. Next day I chopped it up and made it into lobster salad for a lobster roll - tasted far better than how they served it. We regularly eat at 4 and 5 star restaurants - this is at best a 3 star restaurant that charges 4/5 star prices. ** one afternoon we stopped for drinks after walking out to the jetty - ended up ordering meatballs and also frites - meatballs were perfection and frites were beautifully and thoroughly seasoned. We ordered Irish coffees - word to anyone who is a purist about Irish coffees (they include Bailey's Irish Cream). I love it, but my husband, who is Irish and used to a "real" Irish coffee, was not happy.

Nice looking place, but the good was very lacking. My wife's salmon was cold, over cooked and dry. My veal was cold, tough and dry. Not going back.....

La Bella Vita is basically the only food option on the resort. The interior is absolutely stunning -- very well designed and a great view if you can get a window seat. The food isn't excellent, but I thought it was pretty good. I came here twice during my weekend stay at the Samoset, and ordered the Maine lobster and shrimp scampi style, the zuppa di aragosta, taglioni alla vongole, and the salmon entree. The lobster and shrimp scampi appetizer was by far my favorite and I would highly recommend this -- I ordered this again on my second visit and had it as my main course because I liked it so much the first time I ordered it! The prices were fair (maybe a little bit overpriced, but understandable since it's the resort restaurant). My only qualms were about the service. The first night, we had a male server who was phenomenal, but the bus boys were really clumsy, seemed new, and it was very distracting. The bus boy cleaning up the table next to us dropped everything, knocked over a water glass, and broke a wine glass -- not a big deal, but really quite distracting. The second night I was there, my server was nice but made us feel a little uncomfortable and was inattentive. I ordered wine and initially she didn't check ID and brought the wine for me -- but then took it back, came back to our table in a minute, and asked to check my ID. I understand checking ID is what you're supposed to do, and maybe I look young, but this was really awkward and uncomfortable -- she really did act like I was doing something wrong. Then, we had to ask for bread twice, and every time she said she would bring it but didn't until halfway through our entrees, when I finally had to ask another server for the bread. I also really had to go out of my way and wave my arm around to try to get someone's attention to refill my water glass. Overall, inconsistent service but pretty good food and great atmosphere.

We stayed at the Samoset and had Sunday brunch, Christmas Eve dinner and drinks/snacks. This is one of the best restaurants we have ever visited; great food, good service and excellent decor. Prepare to spend a few $$$, but you will have a very enjoyable evening!

This is a beautiful restaurant and a great place to grab breakfast. You have great views of the property and the seating is comfortable. My wife and I really enjoyed the food and will visit this place again next time we are in town.

My boyfriend and I spent July 4th weekend in Camden Maine and had a wonderful lunch. We made reservations and were able to sit outside on the porch. One soda, two lunch entrees and two desserts came to $75 with tip. The food was just ok but the view was definitely worth it and enjoyed walking around the property after.

The restaurant is beautiful on the inside. Ambiance is simply gorgeous. The views from the outside are unparalleled. The food was pretty good, not amazing, but certainly delicious and worth coming to eat for the views. I had the vegetable panini and fries, delicious, my husband had the lobster roll and fries, he said it was pretty good.

We had breakfast there al la cart; not the buffet. It was outstanding and the view is amazing. My husband had a lobster dish and I had a vegetarian breakfast sandwich.

Stayed at the Samoset and enjoyed the restaurant for a few meals. We had apps out on the patio, enjoyed the comfortable seating, gas fire and lobster/crab dip! The service and views are amazing - out meals were good. I would definitely come back! The glass rooms would be awesome for a group/family gathering.

A very pretty restaurant with a nice view of the water. BUT the food is just so-so. Had a pizza to start that was just fair - they have a wood burning pizza oven and make them in front of you at the bar - so obviously a specialty there, but FAR from special. My salmon was just fair on top of risotto that was way too runny. The server and/or bartender did not have a clue how to make drinks. Disappointing. Not cheap there either so definitely not worth it.

Breakfast is great. Dinner is passable. Bartenders have no idea what they are doing...made a side car with rum? Waitstaff and room service staff are undertrained and unattentive.

This was our first time here as a family of six. The food and service were both incredible. The view of the ocean is breathtaking. We ordered a four cheese pizza for the children and they loved it. I had the Caprese Insalate and was impressed with the fresh mozzarella, delicious tomatoes and basil. We also had the gnocchi and clam fettuccine - generous portions and delicious. The mixed drinks are not your standard boring drinks rather the creation of a talented mixologist. I can personally attest that the Sangria was one of the best. Finally the desserts were of course delicious. Eat outdoors if you can. The breakfast selections were all very good as well.

We had our wedding reception here. I was with the love of my life and my six beautiful children. All the food was fantastic. The dessert was excellent. Couldn't be any better. Great atmosphere. Great music. Great place. We will come back!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
