Since Taco Bell is actually not a viable option for food, I ended up here. With that said, any individual who does consider Taco Bell a cuisine fit for human consumption shouldn't be fussed by condiments served in Dixie cups. Everybody's got an opinion. With that said, mine is that the food at this establishment was fresh, delicious, and reminiscent of California-style Mexican tastes. It was as authentic as you're going to get this far from Mexico and if I was worried about it at all the house-made ice cream for dessert eliminated that concern completely. That and the margaritas. I will likely never be in Rockland ever again in my life but I'm not mad I stopped here for Mexican food while I was.

Authentic Mexican cuisine! Friendly, warm service and an atmosphere that topped off the entire experience. Great little find in the middle of Main Street.

After a day of driving and checking in to our rental, we needed some good comfort food, and Sunfire did not disappoint. Guac was terrific, seafood tacos seasoned well, and generous margaritas. We'll be back!

This is the second August in a row we've stopped at Sunfire. The food is pretty good and the margaritas are excellent, you order them by good, better, or best. The service is excellent and the setting is fairly intimate. The bathrooms are clean and nice. The hours are a bit weird, some days just lunch is served, some days lunch and dinner.

I've been coming to Sunfire for two years now. Before I took an extended leave from the Mid-Coast area I frequented the place so often the waitress knew my order as soon as I walked in the door. That being said I obviously love their food. The Super Burritos are great. Guacamole is fresh and their salsa is amazing as too are their Margaritas. It's always a favorite place to take friends. Not all is perfect though. After their expansion they apparently hired a new waitstaff, and not enough of them for the summer months. The place has grown too quickly and when it's packed there is no one around to greet you, seat you or even take your order. When the waitresses do get around to you they are always pleasant though. If you go for lunch or if you live in the Mid-Coast area and go during the off season the place is awesome. Just know what you are in for during the summer months. Oh, on a last note, the bartender is useless. He has no personality, isn't friendly and usually doesn't even make the drinks, the waitresses do!

Decided on the Sunfire as, to my surprise, Rustica was no longer serving lunch. Honestly, there is a Taco Bell about 1.5 miles from the Sunfire and a WAY better choice if you're in the mood for "Mexican". First off, what Mexican restaurant charges for a basket of chips and salsa? Yup, the Sunfire does! Isn't this a standard-issue item when dining at a Mexican restaurant? Anyway, on with the food we did eat... The nachos: strangely tasteless, we ordered the "superior" plate, with chicken. The chips were so-so, but the chicken, beans and toppings really had no taste at all. If not for the jalapeños sprinkled about, you'd never know you were eating something Mexican. One more thing, if the menu mentions salsa and sour cream, they should be ON the dish, not in little plastic cups that we didn't bother to open. We both had the mole burrito which sounded promising. The tortilla was the generic four type you find in the cheese section at Hannaford. It was "filled" with flavorless refried beans, and few sparse pieces of chicken and covered with a sauce that had to be poured out of a can! Seriously, I wasn't expecting a culinary masterpiece here, but Mexicans everywhere would be crying tears of shame over what was advertised as a mole sauce. Two bites into the burrito, you were still eating the generic tortilla, as there was little filling and too much tortilla. Another Mexican restaurant first: the plate contained simply a burrito (with sour cream, three avocado slivers and some shredded lettuce), no rice, no tortilla chips, no nothing. We quickly ordered two margaritas, EVERYTHING gets better with tequila, and although we really tried to love this place, no even the tequila made a bit of difference. In the end the food was just so un-authentic and lacking n flavor, we vowed to not only swear off the Sunfire, but swear off Mexican food in Mane all together. On a bright note, the restaurant was clean and bright, the tables spaced far apart, the waitress VERY nice and the service overall left nothing to complain about. The only mystery employee was the bartender, he seemed very disconnected from the whole scene, almost like he was the owners son forced to work when he'd rather be on a beach somewhere. We didn't actually understand his role until we ordered drinks and realiized this purpose. I guess it would have been nicer for the waitstaff if he actually delivered food or perhaps filled water glasses when empty, but again I got the feeling he was somehow above all of this and would burst into flames if forced to leave the confines of the small bar. We shall never know.

Sorry guys, you lost that touch!, have eaten here several times, the food was great but, the last two times, it was like going to toco bell, the food was mushy and bland and the wait staff were slow and seemed not to care. To bad, it was a good place to go at one time, Taco Bell is much Cheaper!

Had a very good lunch here with my wife and a friend. All of our meals were good. Two of us had the Super Burrito and one had the Chicken Mole Enchilada. The burritos had excellent sauce and your choice of meat was accompanied by rice and beans in the tortilla. The Encilada mole sauce was quite good also. Both dishes had a choice of refried or black beans. The staff was very personable and welcoming. The prices are very good and the quality of the the food is excellent.

Had dinner on a Saturday night in April here, and have to say- maybe the worst restaurant experience I've had in a while. Very poor service for starters. It took us 10 minutes to get menus and another 10 to order... kind of outrageous for a restaurant with 14 tables, two waitresses and a bartender working. We were waited on by all three of those people, none of whom seemed to really be in charge of our table. When we finally got our food, it was definitely sub-par. I could have made my vegetarian burrito at home for half the price: black beans, onions, some lettuce shards and some canned red sauce in a grocery store white tortilla. My boyfriend said his burrito was just scoops of soggy cheap beef with some tomato chunks and watered down sour cream. By the time we finished, we were both feeling pretty disappointed and ready to leave. We got our bill (brought by the bartender), and then waited another 10 minutes. I finally brought the bill up to the bar where he was ringing up other people's checks and he looked blankly at me before asking, "what table are you at?" I wish this place were better- dying for some good Mexican/Tex-Mex up here in Mid-Coast Maine. Kind of cute decor though...

Granted, I only had the fish taco and side of black beans, but great flavor and friendly service. I will go back when I am back that way.

This place has excellent food, I love it! They use the freshest ingredients. They have excellent service; always polite. I NEVER walk away being disappointed with their food or service. The only things I don't like is that they have split shifts, so there's a chunk of the day when they're not there. And their sides, a large side of guacamole is $5, which is way too expensive for the little bit you get. With that said, they still have the best quality Mexican food in town, no doubt!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
