Incredible experience, if only I could give this place 10 stars! So welcoming on arrival, and what a beautiful place to arrive to! A delicious wrap-around porch and backyard gazebo to enjoy a bottle of wine & book, a guest pantry stocked with water/juice/coffee and snacks, followed by a charming two-block walk to town center and dinner. Comfy beds, soundproof rooms, nice hot/strong shower, and best of all? Breakfast! Came down at our leisure to the most sweetly remembered breakfast preferences (I'm vegetarian and pregnant, and they made me feel so special with my very own pot of decaf coffee with regular for my honey, and my extra sausage to my fella!). Breakfast over great conversation with the other guests and owners (one of whom is the mayor!!)... Doesn't get much better!
Lovely place to stay. Wonderful, knowledgeable hosts. Short walk to town. Extremely comfortable and cozy room. Highly recommended!
I recently stayed at the LimeRock with my girlfriend on a trip to Maine in teh off season. The accommodations were first rate and the innkeepers, Frank and P.J. were wonderful hosts. Frank made us homemade scones one morning and a more basic breakfast the next, based on our likes. He also shared a slice of Pizza Rustica that he baked based on his memories of his Italian Grandmother. We stayed in the Grand Manan room, which had an over-sized tub with jacuzzi jets and a fireplace which we fully utilized. We had such a great time and we can't wait to go back. We didn't know much about Rockland itself before visiting as we were just getting away for a break, and it turned out that there was fantastic sushi in town (better than most places here in Miami), plenty of great dinners and a lovely downtown to walk through.

Went by for lunch on Wednesday. Friendly staff but a 35 minute ticket time isn't up to par. Several tables ordered after we did and were done eating. Ordered a ham Italian, 2 pastrami sandwiches and a pizza. When our order was finally ready I was informed the pizza would be out shortly. Which tells me they forgot our entire order. The ham Italian at $9.95, they put it in the computer as an Italian minus the Italian cold cuts. Good ingredients but ONE slice of ham in the whole sandwich. I brought it up to the countered and the girl apologized and offered to remake the sandwich but after waiting 35 minutes I just asked for more ham. The pastrami was good for $11.95 a sandwich, but the pizza was just a conveyor belt cheese pizza rushed through the oven, doughy not real good. Paid full rate for everything. If the owner isn't onsite make sure your staff knows how to better manage tickets..
Very good food. Best Italian I've had. One thing though I will mention the manager yelled at " Ariana" and it was very unprofessional. Do not let the customer be publicly aware of mistakes happening within the kitchen, that's just makes everyone uncomfortable. Very good food though! Highly recommended
Stopped in for sandwiches. Sat outside with dog. Patio was a little messy. Lots of food scraps on the ground. Very nice menu. Prices were reasonable. Ordered the meatball sub and the chicken caprese. The breads used were fantastic. The meatballs were delicious. The caprese had a wonderful pesto sauce. The only negative was the tomato was too thick for the sandwich. Potato salad was very fresh with good texture but under-seasoned. The pickle spear was awesome, not sure what they do to it.

If I lived in Rockland, I would go here at least once a week. My fiance and I followed a friends recommendation when we were on vacation. It was easily one of the best breakfast experiences we have ever had (okay, two of the best, seeing how we went two days in a row!). The food on its own is wonderful, fresh, delicious. But my fiance, who has celiac disease and is strictly gluten free, had the easiest time ordering here. The waitstaff and kitchen staff were completely knowledgeable about which items on the menu were gf and what could be subbed in to suit his needs. The first morning I had the Traditional Bennie and he had the Meat Me At Home frittata - with grilled polenta on the side instead of toast. Both dishes were delicious and the option of polenta for a gf side was perfect - I wish more places would catch on to that idea! Realizing he could have the Bennies after we had already ordered, we decided to come back the next morning. I have never seen my fiance so happy over breakfast out. His Bennie over polenta was just perfect - every gf breakfast lovers dream! They serve Rock City coffee, which I believe is roasted right down Main Street. There eggs come from a farm in Waldoboro. The owners dad makes delicious looking cinnamon buns that would be great with that local coffee! A true family joint - I will find a way back someday!
Welcomed with friendly smiles from the staff. Good service and a excellent breakfast. So good that I'll be having breakfast there again tomorrow before I head back to Massachusetts.
This place is a no brainer. My girlfriend and I wandered in for breakfast on a Monday morning while in the area visiting family. The atmosphere is fresh and clean, great decor, and the outside deck looks like it must be amazing in warm weather. We knew we had chosen the right place as soon as we had a sip of their delicious coffee. Full featured breakfast menu, great quality food, attentive staff. You can't go wrong. We had blueberry pancakes and traditional eggs benedict. Everything was perfect - wouldn't hesitate for a second to return. As a self proclaimed food snob who never writes reviews this is not to be missed if you are in the area. Enjoy and thanks to the staff for great work!

Excellent coffee, hot or cold, and friendly baristas. I will come back next time I am in Rockland!
A nice place to have in this part of Maine. The cafe is a decent size, with many coffee selections. The coffee is pretty good, but for the price I expected it to be better. On average, the coffees are $1 per oz.
If I could I would do 4.5 because it's not the absolute best coffee I've had, but I was very impressed to find a local coffee roaster on the East coast with such a big selection of delicious coffee and expresso drinks. If you are a West coast coffee junkie that just happens to be in Rockland, go here. The baristas were very friendly and took their time on making my fancy drinks. My dad and I also came here for lunch which hit the spot. They have a latte with maple and bacon flavours which was surprisingly good. Chill place to hang out too. This is a local gem!

We ran across this wonderful find quite randomly by just noticing the handmade sign at the entrance to the ferry parking lot. We had the pad thai and masaman curry that were both excellent. The pad thai was deliciously prepared with fresh spinach and cabbage on top that you mix in yourself with chicken cut beautifully and spiced just right. Masaman was yummy as well. Our kids had the hot dog that we thought were actually quite better than average. We wish we had come across this place a lot sooner during the week so we could taste more of the offerings.
Where to start, the owner Sue was very kind to us. One of the friendliest people I've met. I got the Pad Thai Chicken which was delicious. We also tried the Fried Rice Chicken which was just as good. While eating you get a perfect view of the harbor. We will definitely be coming back again on our next trip to Maine!
Quick and Delish! Got the pad Thai with chicken. Owner is super friendly and the view of Rockland harbor is super!

This is the place in Rockland if you want alcohol, pool, live bands, karaoke, and really who doesn't want all that ??? They have a good selection of drafts. 10 years ago I was afraid of this place it had a bad reputation and it was rumored to have dirt floors. Well with new ownership the places has really turned around. The bathrooms are remodeled yet It's still a little divey in a great way. The bar is in the first floor of a building dating back a hundred years or more. I believe it used to be a saloon and brothel back it the day which for me increases the cool factor of the space. The other great thing is the outdoor seating available. Check it out if you are in rockland.
We went this year after lobster fest and had a nice time. It's a cute little joint with AC, good drinks and friendly people. We watched a drunk couple play pool and spent a few hours listening to everyone's pick of music. The Bahama Mama was $8 which seemed a bit pricey for a premade mixed drink but I get it. Tourists have $$ ;) I would recommend!
We came here for a beer after the Lobster Festival. The inside was really divey and there was a girl dancing to "back that ass up" with all the moves. It was about 3pm. No big deal. My Mom said "are you sure you want to go here?" Haha. We went outside to sit. The beers were $3 each! I didn't even know it was happy hour. Awesome pricing for pints. I had the Shipyard Summer and it hit the spot. No options for dark beers on tap. People were friendly including the other patrons. The bartender gave us a basket of Chex Mix for outside which was nice of her. I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again when in Rockland!

Astoundingly good baked goods and bread. The scones are some of the best ive ever had anywhere. Friendly staff too.
I wish there were a bakery this good where I live. We were here twice during a stay in the Rockland area. There is a large variety of artisan breads baked fresh daily. Some kinds are available every day. Others are specialty breads made only once or twice a week. We took a pumpernickel loaf back to our cottage. It had the slight sweetness and depth of flavor that good dark bread should have. The bakery also has large selection of sweet and savory pastries, foccaccia, muffins, pizza, etc. I enjoyed a scrumptious cheese scone with a cup of freshly brewed coffee on our first visit and a well-made breakfast sandwich the second time. Customer service depends on the staff person. On our first visit, we were served by a friendly woman who told us all about the individual breads and how we could call ahead to have the bakery save a particular kind for us, if we needed another bread later in the week. On our second visit, we got quite the opposite--a man who was cold, said nary a word to us and seemed impatient when we couldn't immediately make up our minds about what to order. A previous reviewer remarked about the difficulty of finding on-street parking. There is a large public lot accessible from the street that runs along the side of the bakery.
Good, simple 3-star breakfast place. Good coffee and lattes. Good/very good pastries. Nice staff. Everything adequate...nothing exceptional.

Great soups, delicious panini's and great staff made our lunch just what we were looking for. Came in on a cold afternoon in the mood for clam chowder and a warm sandwich and Clan Maclaren's delivered. They had 3 different soups and a huge sandwich and salad menu... Almost had too hard of a time deciding! My girlfriend and I ended up doing a half sandwich, half soup each. We both ended up getting the John Henry panini (Turkey, cheddar, guac, red onions) and soup. I added Bacon. The panini was delicious and I was glad she had a few bites left over because I wanted more of its goodness! The clam chowder was yummy, not too thick and creamy and not too creamy. Nice chunks of clams and potatoes. She had the root vegetable soup which was also yummy...and very healthy. Might have been better with some cream in it but that would make it less healthy... None the less her bowl was empty and I caught her licking it for the last bits of goodness! Also very friendly staff! There were 3 of them in there despite the place being pretty dead. All very friendly, brought the food to our table, and chatted with us for a while to see how everything was and if we needed anything else. Overall was the perfect meal and EXACTLY what I was looking for after a hike in the cold! Perfectly hit the spot! Would definitely come back here, and that says a lot growing up in NYC and WE!
Stopped in w/ my son on 9/21/14 on a recommendation of the pastrami reuben. We had the reuben & a bowl of clam chowder. Both were very good. Will definitely go back again.
The menu offers a large selection of sandwiches, but we were more in the mood for a soup and salad lunch. I had a big bowl of the excellent and popular clam chowder, the last bowl remaining to be sold. My friend had a bowl of the lobster bisque, also very good. As I write this review several weeks later, I have to admit that I can't remember much about the salads, other than that we were satisfied with them.
