Love this place! Great house burger. Very friendly staff! My only complaint so far: was in town on a Sunday night and tried to go at 9:15. They advertise they are open until 10, but closed early with no note on the sign. Didn't deter me from going back though.

This place feels like it was transported straight from Brooklyn. The ambience is very inviting and warm... Not at all bar-like, but more like a tapas-style restaurant. Cozy, muted lighting and a get staff that is friendly but not clingy only add to the culinary tour de force that I experienced at Fog. We started with the popcorn chicken, which is made from free-range chicken. The chicken itself isn't overly flavorful, but the dipping sauce that accompanied it elevates it quite well. Next, we split the duck nachos and the pork belly tacos. The duck nachos are fantastic... A wonderful blend of sweet and rich flavors atop homemade chips with a latent smoky heat from the peppers. The pork belly tacos are even better. The crisp, salt pork belly is complemented with a blend of pickled veggies with a house hoisin sauce. The flavor palette is similar to a bahn mi, but made better by the complex flavors of the pork belly. Finally, we split the cardamom creme brulé and the Meyer lemon souffle. The cardamom is a fantastic and interesting complement to the traditional sweet creaminess of the creme brulé custard. The only faux pas here was the addition of raspberries as a garnish, which better added to nor complimented the palette of the dish. The Meyer lemon souffle was also great... Warm and sweet with a delicious berry compote topping. The meal was excellently complemented by one of the best beers I've ever had... The Maine beer company lunch IPA. All in all, this was one of the most wonderful meals I've had in a long time. Do yourself a favor and check out this awesome spot.

We dropped in for happy hour before a movie across the street and had a wonderful dark and stormy and bourbon cocktail at a great price. So we decided to return for dinner, big mistake! We each ordered a glass of red wine and one was significantly more full than the other, which was odd. The burger did not live up to expectations at the $15 price tag. The sweet potato gnocchi was a confusing dish that had a mushroom gravy, not very enjoyable. Both dishes were seriously under seasoned. For me, the worst part was a very neglectful server who never asked about our meals or offered another drink. We might go back for yummy cocktails, but will think twice about dinner again.

This is my fourth time visiting the Fog Bar, and unfortunately my last. Four times in the last year I have visited this restaurant with high hopes and expectations. I have read the reviews and accolades in various publications, and I naively believed them. But as I sit here on my fourth visit, I am still without food and my server ignores my party of four. And yes, I am writing this review as I sit at the table, I am THAT infuriated. Fog Bar, I have given you four tries. Four tries to redeem yourself and your venue. Your food is exceptional, but after an HOUR AND A HALF WAIT with little to no service or acknowledgement, it is nothing. You and your servers or your food do not deserve the "prestige." Quite simply, you are overrated and suck. This will be the last time I recommend you to visiting friends and family. Find new servers and cooks. Find a new image that does not include piss poor service. Oh look, there goes my waiter... Ignoring my table again.

Great interesting food. We went on a Sunday evening and it was not that crowded. The bar service was quick. A good place for dinner in Rockport.

Came here for some late night drinks and snacks. I had two good cocktails and some great mac and cheese. The interior space is pretty cool, but service was just okay.

Husband loved his grass fed burger. Mac and cheese yummy. Nice atmosphere. Was quickly accommodated when we commented that AC was too cold. Service very friendly. Decent selection of craft beers

Neat place for pretty good food - especially if you go for happy hour, with great deals on starters (especially the popcorn, a must buy). A delicious piece of pork, and a beet salad (with not enough beets) sealed the meal. The service was the only slight downside - we waited a long time until someone came by to ask for our orders, and then no one checked on us after we received the food (not a big deal, because the food was fine, but still surprising). I think that the servers were also making the drinks, so they were quite busy, so they weren't ignoring their work.

My friend and I sat by the window which was very nice. The Fog Bar's interior is really fun. You can tell they tried hard to make a bold impression. We came very early at happy hour. The service was prompt, helpful and attentive. Everything on the menu looked great. The happy hour snacks were a nice touch. I ordered the deviled eggs to start. They were very affordable for their size, well plated and very good. My main dish was the fish tacos. Again, I was surprised at the good value - three tacos as a posed to the standard two. They were very fresh; the fish was exquisitely cooked. My friend ordered the house burger and substituted the artisan french fries for kale. He was very impressed with the burger, especially how it was cooked just to his liking (he's picky). This was a very solid and laid back meal, yet at the same time something I will never forget. I will defiantly be coming back.

I wanted to like this place, I really really did. I have a lot of history with this space. Second Read was my go to place when I was an angsty high school student; I would read and drink tea and think I was awesome. So I was super excited to discover that a funky restaurant/bar had taken over the spot I used to love. The look and feel of the place is rad. That's where they get 2 stars. Loved it, twinkle lights, projector playing old cartoons, fabulous. Love it. Takes forever to get waited on. We get waited on by two different people that both ask us for drink orders and are confused when we tell them someone already did that. We also order appetizers. Our food shows up BEFORE our drinks and apps, all of which takes quite a while. I'm dying of thirst half the time, and we barely see our waitress (either of them) to get a refill. The food was just okay. It was nothing to write home about. Which makes me sad, because I was really hoping this would be my new jam. I really wanted it to be good, and it just wasn't. I can't even remember what I ordered that's how unexciting it was. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't good, and for the price, well... it should at least be somewhat memorable. I have stopped here on occasion just for drinks, and while they are on the pricey side and still take a while to get, they are pretty good (go for the hot buttered rum), so that's why they get one more star. In conclusion, go get after movie drinks here, or before you get fast and loose at Myrtle or Time Out. But be prepared to pay, and be prepared to wait... a while.

My family and I come to this part of Maine every summer and have seen restaurants come and go. Fog is a fantastic new restaurant and well worth a try. We have eaten here several times since they opened and it's clear that they are really hitting there stride after a couple of seasons since both the food and service get better and better. First off the design of the space is great with movies playing on the back wall and lots of options for seating from the bar to the front window to big tables for larger groups in the back. They have a great drink menu and a top notch selection of craft beers. On the food front we love the mussels and duck nachos to start and they have a great burger as well as nightly specials that reflect what's in season. Also, don't miss their ice cream stand out back called Lulu's, best in the area.

This place was exceptional twice. Very good wait staff, beautifully varied draft beer list, good finger foods and two real food highlights: one burger with fresh trompette mushrooms that was in the top three burgers I have ever eaten; and fish tacos that were the best I have ever eaten, twice in a row. A very very good restaurant, and good value as well.

Hip decor, friendly atmosphere, artful, well prepared and nutritious meals, superlative beverages. What's not to like? A great time!

Cool-hip atmosphere but the service was terrible! The group of ten I was with literally had to wait 20 minutes for a round of drinks and probably another 20 minutes after we asked for our checks. Portions were extremely small. The food was tasty but the experience put me off; probably never go back.

We didn't eat here, just stopped by for an after dinner drink. Very lounge like feel with classic Jazz and candle light. They were playing clips from old movies on the back wall. Excellent craft beer selection and good cocktails. We will be back again soon! P.S. thank you for not including "rock" in your name.

It was delicious. We arrived around 530 and ordered drinks (great beer selection and the blackberry Cosmo tasty) and appetizer (popcorn and oyster deviled eggs). We then ordered dinner-I had gnocchi, it was so good. Other people had the burger and the catch of the day which they enjoyed. One person had the pork belly taco which I tried and they were awesome. I will be getting them the next time we go. We also had the chocolate mouse which I think was the best I have had. Everything was great. We were there for about 2 hrs 30mins, never felt rushed. The atmosphere was very nice as well. When we got there only 3 other couples there but by the time we left the place was full. Will be going back again for sure!

Stopped in for a beer and an appetizer. Had the duck nachos and it was amazing. Fun atmosphere. Cool people. Good beer selection. Service was a little disorganized but they had just opened recently and were most likely working the kinks out. Would come back for sure.

Just stopped in with a friend for a quick drink - a $12 martini. Yikes. We didn't eat anything so I can't comment on the menu, but they seemed to offer quite a selection of beer and assorted drinks. The atmosphere is very modern and clean, waitstaff was friendly but a little disorganized. A little pricey for me so we didn't stay longer than our one drink - hope others find it more to their liking.

Hmmm.... Reading the reviews I'm not sure I went to the same restaurant. Pluses (always start positive): nice setting and decoration. Minuses: Nearly everything else. All food items are priced at the extreme high end for what they are. When ordering a $15 hamburger (!!??) I expect (demand) that it be perfect. Burger was dried out, had virtually no flavor, a marginally interesting dry bun, very skimpy dressings (could hardly see the onion ring), we had to ask for catsup which came in a miniscule side bowlet ('it's home made'; as if they makes up for the fact there was almost none), and generic greasy chips (everyone does these). I longed for a simple In-N-Out or Zinnburger. Top this off with their very overpriced beer ($7-$9) and one feels as if one has been had. Meanwhile, my wife ordered fresh mussels (which she loves) but could only eat half because of the strange seasoning that had been used. She complained about this, only to be told that 'well, the seasonings change daily'. The waiter could not have been much less interested in our concerns. This place is clearly trying to appeal to a high-end clientele, two of whom, both my wife and I, will not return. I predict demise within two years.

Decent beer selection. Could use some more choices. 5 +/- rotating beers on tap at a time. Fun and hip atmosphere. I really liked the chalk board paint in the bathrooms, complete with side walk chalk!

  • Elizabeth R.

Just okay for my taste, place looks really cool from the outside but the inside is a little less comfortable than I like. If I could describe the style it would be hipster-pretentious. Food was okay, we had the popcorn appetizer and the pickles. Popcorn app was not very flavorful (was supposed to be pumpkin, but looked and tasted like paprika maybe?), the pickles were good but small. Beer selection is nicely curated, perhaps this is a better place for a drink. Actual meals (fish taco, pork belly taco, and some sort of chicken dish) were good but pricey. Primos and the burger place across the street are better bets for the money respectively in my book.

So much more than a bar with great appetizers. We went here for dinner and the food is incredible. The pork chop with spaetzle was amazing. Great vegan and vegetarian options as well. Don't forget to have the homemade ice cream for desert! The staff was friendly and knowledgable. This is a great new addition to downtown Rockland.

Excellent and innovative food. I had the pork chop and the combination of the pork, fig sauce and butternut squash spätzle was outstanding. Cocktails are also excellent though the Bee's Knees was a bit sweet for my taste. Chocolate torte was good though not amazing. Service was slow but that's more than tolerable considering the quality of the food. If you are foodie, this is a must. Prices are quite reasonable too.

Really rude server with a condescending attitude because are not from area. Good was eh, trying too hard to be hip without any attention to quality. Lame short timer unless they can up their food quality and fire some of the employees with attitude.
