Came on a Sunday night with seven people - - three adults, three teenagers, and a nine-year-old. Luckily they had room, as we did not have a reservation. It's a rather heavier menu, although with a somewhat modern approach. I must object to them using meat or ham products in seafood dishes; since we had pescatarians that only eat seafood products. Never understood why a chef needs to add ham or chicken stock to a perfectly fresh seafood meal. I would suggest they add more fish and vegetarian dishes as well. Anyway, despite being a small crowd that night, no one came for an eternity to take a drink order or welcome us. Strange. 5 waters at the table for 7 people. Hmm. Finally, she came over, informing us of everything they didn't have that night. Great. Still, the waitresses are crazy cute, so that makes complaining a bit harder! Moving on, we ordered a number of appetizers, including mini corn dogs (for my young son) -- which he liked, along with an order of house cut fries; the salad with greens and beets was a hit, fresh and super clean. Fish ribs were a great idea, but suffered in execution. Pickled sampler plate was a great palate cleanser, with 4 different types of delicious, pickled veggies. For entrees, we enjoyed the steak - one was perfectly cooked, the other a bit rare (ordered medium), with wild rice; the two teens polished it off. The pork tacos were flavorful, but served a bit lukewarm. Mac and cheese was the table hit, with toasted breadcrumbs on top. Still, it didn't come out piping hot; merely warm. This is a "good" restaurant with a ton of untapped potential. Perhaps because it was Sunday, the A Team wasn't present. Still, as a tourist town in a tourist month (July), they need to strap on their big boy pants and make it perfect. (PS. They forgot a desert, too. Unbelievable.)

If I could do 3.5 stars, I would. The quality of food and drink made me bump up to a 4. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place because of the beer list and the anticipated ambiance. We were told by locals that this place seemed 'sterile'. I don't think that's how I would describe it, maybe 'arrogant hipster' is better. Honestly the food and drink were wonderful. I got pea and ham soup with a beet salad and we shared onion rings which I normally hate, but these were fabulous! From the moment we walked in, I felt like we were bothering the host...we simply said hello, we have two then proceeded to sit ourselves at the bar. The bartender was fine, I wouldn't go as far as welcoming but he took our order. He never smiled, no one did, I guess that's the vibe they are going for? The bartender did chat with us about beer for a minute and that was nice. The vibe overall was just annoyance. I seriously hope these guys learn to smile and make conversation with their customers. This place has tons of potential!

I was under the impression that the nightly happy hour ran from 4-6PM - wrong, it commences at 5PM. This bar/restaurant shares common ownership with 40 Paper so I was mildly disappointed to discover drink prices are only reduced by $2 and appetizers were not discounted. It probably explains why the bar was not very busy. My wife and I settled on a glass each of merlot before moving on.

And for dessert. ....... Coffee & Doughnuts, (vanilla bean potato doughnuts and coffee creme anglaise) just amazing and something completely different. Great beer selection with wonderful service. Loved the decor. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. Must stop in Rockland.

Ordered the dumplings as an appetizer and the pulled pork tacos and chicken and waffles as the entrees. The food was as you'd expect from a place like this and the cocktails were well done. Not too expensive but you're definitely paying for the aesthetic of the place. Very hip, right on the main drag in town. The thing that got me was the service. From the get go the host and the bartender were almost too busy to seat is or take our order. Food and drinks took a long time to get to us and the staff was not friendly. I felt as if they had better things to do than help me out and I never heard the words please or thanks you. Not once.

Went back again and still one of my favorite places. Everything I have had is so good.

Right on main strip. Modern decor. Amazing sauces. Try the house ketchup or Sriracha Mayo. Had the Salmon ribs and Mussels. Highly recommend both. Free wifi too.

This is it. I've sought out the best GF food in every state (and Hawai'i and Puerto Rico) and this is by far my favorite place anywhere in the country. It beats out anywhere in NYC or LA or DC or Anchorage. This is one of those places that is so good you wish there was a sixth star available for only the most exceptional places. One of the chefs here is gluten free, and the result is that you get all of the things you always wish you could eat: fresh made pasta, puffed pastries, baguettes. And the food is extraordinary. I usually wait all day and then have multiple main courses here and multiple desserts with friends. Also the cocktails are phenomenal. I keep asking for recipes every time I'm there because I can't drive another 5 hours just to get one later that week. Don't think I haven't gone way out of my way to get here, either. This is a mandatory stop on any trip to Maine, and a reason to visit on its own. A stay at the Berry Manor Inn and a visit to 3Crow is the perfect trip to Rockland. I wish I lived in the area so that I could be a regular. I can only hope that some of the highly lauded restaurants in NYC take a page from 3Crow and start to produce a more holistic GF experience.

I wanted to love this place so bad. The decor is modern and there were so many southern dishes on the menu that sounded great. The hostess was passably pleasant. Our waitress was much nicer, especially once we engaged her in conversation. I ordered the chicken and waffles (which is very pricy for such a dish). My hubby ordered the grits with lobster and ham. We also started with some mini corn dogs. First, some complementary bread and butter arrived (a cinnamon butter?) - it was delish and the best part of the meal. The mini corn dogs arrived soon after. They were ok, but just ok. Far more batter than dog. The trio of sauces were disappointing, I thought it would come with some of the tasty side sauces listed on the menu. Instead they came with catchup, BBQ and mustard. Our meals came quickly. The chicken and waffles looked good, although TINY for the price. Once I started cutting into it, I realized the waffle was dense and rubbery. The chicken was insanely dry. And there was almost zero syrup on it. In the south, this dish would come with a fruit glaze, jam or SOMETHING. My husband's lobster and ham grits was less disappointing. Good flavor, nice textured grits, but far too little lobster. The only reason I'm giving this place three stars instead of two is the fact that the very nice waitress noticed I couldn't eat my dry chicken and removed it from the bill.

The decor of the restaurant is nice and it has a nice vibe. The staff are also very good. Unfortunately, the food was not well prepared and came to the table luke warm. They rewarmed the food, but not great. The Mac n cheese was under seasoned with very little flavor. The lobster roll was just horrible and I would not recommend it. The mussels were good after they prepared a fresh batch. It may have just been a bad night for the chef, but I cannot recommend the restaurant based on the food we ate.

3 Crow? 3 stars. And that's being generous. Here's why: The location and decor are excellent. I want to see Rockland succeed, and semi-classy places like this are going to help the town take its rightful place alongside fancier neighbors to the north. Also, the music choice and sound quality were phenomenal - Wild Nothing, Beach House, even the Cure! Best listening experience at a restaurant we've had in forever. The beer list is exceptional. Five stars easy, and served in appropriate glassware! But things started heading "south" when it came to the food, and I apologize for that unfortunate pun. Everything we ordered was served lukewarm. The appetizer fried okra and tobacco onions (onion rings) would have been great but they were almost room temperature. We soldiered on and the gumbo was likewise tepid and practically flavorless. No one had anything good to say about the pork tacos or the mac and cheese. Only the fried chicken approached any kind of impressiveness, and that's probably because everything else was so disappointing. And the service kind of sucked, to be honest. I hope this place gets it together. So much promise but falling so short in the most basic and crucial areas.

Never post good or bad. But, we stumbled into 3 Crow on Memorial Monday. Very few options that weren't Sysco provided. We live in Seacoast area (Greater Portsmouth NH) where there are more restaurant seats than people. So... We are coming back to Rockland for the art and the food at 3 Crow. Tacos and fish ribs - perfectly executed. Gnocchi - heavenly pillows of taste. Tacos - just what the husband wanted (maybe a corn tortilla would make it 5star for him), desserts - hard to choose. Really great! The place is comfortable, inviting and frankly plainly beautiful. Great waitstaff ... Everything was really wonderful.

Great spot to check out if you're driving up the 1 and passing through town. We got the salmon ribs, and pot sticker appetizers along with the Mac and cheese (loaded) and scallop entrees and they were all great... Small portions, but delicious! This place also has a great beer selection which for my wife and I is almost as important as the food. Would recommend.

Beer-on-tap samplers are the best offerings of this restaurant. The Southern-inspired food is expensive for what you get. I mean $17 for two large drumstick appetizers...Really? Used to regularly go for Tues. taco night ($2/per taco), but stopped when tortillas and trimmings were bland tasting, plus served cold on the plate. Service is inconsistent, but don't let it deter you from visiting. Overall, you're paying for the ambiance and place that's fun, loud when the place is full. Just don't expect the same level as perhaps a nearby James Beard-awarded restaurant. In general, food and service in the local area can be 'hit or miss' depending on the season.

Finding quality restaurants up in this part of Maine has been a struggle since moving from Nashville and this place was exactly what the homesick doctor ordered. You won't be drowning in a bunch of damn seafood, or stuffy old staff. Very modern and most importantly... Delicious! Plus all the deserts are gluten free! Fair prices, great menu, wonderful environment and very friendly staff (another thing in short supply up here)! Definitely going to be my go to while I'm here!

We didn't particularly care for this place. We went on Taco night "unbeknownst" to us. The only thing in the menu were tacos. Unfortunately, I ordered the fish tacos and they were really bad. Also, we ordered three beers, one mixed drink, an appetizer, and 12 tacos, our bill was almost 80 bucks. Not worth it. Not recommended.

Hubby and I stopped in for a late dinner and drink on a Monday night. It was very quiet. We sat at the bar. Hubby had their version of a Manhattan and really liked it. I did the Maine beer sampler. Hubby had friend chicken entree. Thought it was the best fried chicken he'd ever had. Said it was light, not greasy, touch of sweetness from the honey. He loved the black-eyed peas side as well as the kale salad. There was a third side but it's escaping me. I had the banh mi sandwich. It was good but seemed more like a good pork sandwich than a banh mi though can't put my finger on what I think was missing. The bartender was very friendly. We enjoyed chatting with him.

This place has been on my list for a while, and I finally made it here, albeit with very high expectations given the time spent anticipating my visit. 3 Crow did not disappoint. In fact, I would say it lived up to, and perhaps exceeded, the standards I held it to. Would it be as cool as Shepherds Pie? Yep, and the bar staff was way cooler. A nice vibe and a vibrant bar tops my list of needs. Would I have some good beer choices? You bet. Bi-coastally and internationally curated, the list was really decent. Would the food be on par with Eventide, Duckfat, and other faves? It was. Truly. The mac and cheese may now be the one to beat. Soft, light, and multi-dimensional, it was perfectly portioned and consumed with pleasure. Now to win their Beer for a Year contest, and all will be right with the world.

One of the best meals I have ever had! Starting with the beer selection which was outstanding! We had the mussels and hush puppies for appetizers which were very tasty. I had the succotash for dinner and my husband had the quail. The succotash had an amazing bacon smokey flavor. The quail was cooked to perfection. Will definitely come back.

Thank you fellow yelp reviewer. The fried chicken, gumbo, and mac & cheese were amazing. The melba crisp for dessert was very good as well. The floor plan was well designed, not feeling too crowded. The space was bright & highlighted with an inviting bar. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We plan a return visit.

Loved the style and ambience - unique atmosphere for Rockland. We were fortunate to arrive when the tables were empty, then the tables filled up after we were seated. I chose 3 Crow based on checking out their menu on-line and jones-ing for pork tacos. The tacos were delish and really hit the spot which is a challenge when I'd been anticipating how good they would be, typically a setup for a letdown, am I right? Personally I would have enjoyed more cilantro, but the 'salsa' was superb, providing a good amount of heat, and a perfect compliment to the pulled pork. The side of hand cut fries also good, and crispy. The server recommended the hangar over the chicken and my friend ordered the hangar which I assume was fantastic, never getting a chance at a bite! The steak was perfectly prepared, tender, rare,, and plentiful. Accompanied by rutabaga and collard greens, altogether a great meal, and nice presentation. Coffee was strong and smooth. We had pumpkin croquettes (read donut holes) with crème fraiche and chocolate. Next time we'll do a different dessert as this didn't ring the bell as a finish. We will definitely be returning. In fact, I could eat those tacos again right now. The menu is quite limited, so you know. fyi The bathrooms are large and pristine. Don't doubt yourself, follow those signs, even tough you'll think you're going into the kitchen. Just past the vault/wine celler door and into an area, nicely outfitted, but also used to do laundry. This area, and the bright attractive bathrooms, are fastidiously clean - makes you feel really good about getting ready to eat a meal there! Kudos to 3 Crow for good service, quality food, creative cuisine, and stylish interior design.

The locally brewed beers they supply are great, and the food may be even better. Always have a great experience here.

I ate here based on the other Yelper reviews. The beer selection is impressive and way more extensive than the menu. I had the fried chicken, which was delicious! The coating is very different from southern fried chicken and is light and flavorful. I admit that I was not a fan of the brussel sprout slaw. Just not my thing. The black-eyed peas were tasty. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely go back to try some other dishes!

We loved this gem at the end of Rockland's main drag. I had the beer sampler--they have a great selection (13 on tap last night, plus a local mead). We also had cocktails--some tasty whiskey and a martini. We had the mussels to eat. Delicious. Only down side was that we had to request more bread twice to sop up the juice. I think they should have just kept it coming (there were only two small slices provided). The rest of the menu looked very tempting. Many dishes are southern or southern-inspired, but clearly with a gourmet touch. The decor and atmosphere were lovely. It was around 9 when we got there, so slowing down a bit, but I really appreciated that the music was not blaring. I enjoy being able to have a conversation over dinner and drinks without shouting. As others have said, this ranks up there with the likes of Shepherd's Pie and Francine's.

I visited 3 Crows earlier this year and dined alone. The tip on my receipt was altered after I left. When contacted the owner did reimburse the discrepancy, however he was more concerned about why my tip was not above a specific percentage rather than the lack of ethics of his employee that STOLE from HIS customer. My waiter, who was also the bartender, sat at the end of the bar eating with another waitress and I received no refills for my drink during my meal. Personally I refuse to patronize businesses that I am unable to trust with my information. If I have to pay cash to keep you honest, then I simply will not return. If you are willing to overlook the poor service and theft, the food is great!

Possible to have Mac and cheese light yet tasty? I wondered why, being in Maine, it wasn't offered w lobstah. After tasting it , I understood. A revelation in light cheese flavor with just a touch of deliciously flavored breadcrumbs, not overpowering but used to enhance the subtle flavor. Yum. Possible to have oysters prepared, ready to go with micro greens, a tomato chunk and beautiful brine without cocktail sauce? Yep, fresh, sweet, and fantastic. Honey infused butter w fresh, warm, sourdough bread? Perfect. Beer flights, tasting of 3 beers where the waiter (Todd) is so in tune that he asks to bring another beer taster to replace the one that I had neglected? Corn crusted haddock w olive tapenade was very nice. Girlfriend loved the burger w bacon mixed in w sirloin and chuck, trifecta! Fries crisp, salty and w a little burnt flavor, perfect. My girlfriend loved the bathrooms, a bonus. Music at just the right level to set the mood, loud enough to enjoy yet subtle enough to enjoy a quiet conversation. Todd, our waiter, was fantastic as well, making the experience one to remember of our 2013 summer in Maine.

I was looking for a place to eat, and could not find anything with good ambiance and great food until we came here. I am impressed with the ambiance and food. I had the asparagus salad with green lettuce and crab and light dressing. It was delicious, my friends got the peach salad and they also loved it. I then got he grits and lobster and that was so different that I was afraid how it would taste. However, it was so good, I will have it again. My friends ordered the Mac and cheese and gumbo and they were also happy with their meal and gave it a five star. So far, this is the best restaurant I have eaten here in Maine and it is better than other places people recommend.

My family and some friends went to 3 Crow over the weekend while on vacation. A party of 10 mixed with adults and children. Service was excellent with special consideration to young ones with their food out first. The presentation and taste was fantastic. Everyone in the party raved about the food. The southern fried chicken and bacon infused burger was excellent. Great choice of sides also. Although we didn't have room for desert we ordered several items which I sampled and was delighted. Higly recommend!

Finally a restaurant I can dress up for! Or not depending on how I feel. The food is worth dressing for but the ambiance can be casual if you wish. I love the new take on creole/Americana. The menu seems to change often but always includes fresh, local vegetables. They also have an enormous and unusual whiskey bar, which appeals to my other half. It is fairly easy to talk him in to taking me here; a little something for both of us!

We really wanted to like this place, but alas our experience was not the best. We had made a reservation for 5 a few days prior but there was no table reserved for us so the hostess led us to a table for four and suggested that it would be "cozy" to put 3 of us on one side. The table was awkwardly close to another occupied one so we ended up rearranging it ourselves so that the other diners didn't feel that we were seated on top of them. Then we waited. And waited. Granted, they seemed a bit short-staffed, but in fact it was an hour and forty-five minutes from the time we were seated until our appetizers finally arrived. In between, we had to ask for the additional place setting, the wine list, and for water refills. The restaurant doesn't bill itself as Southern-inspired, but that's pretty much what was on the menu: grits and fried everything, which seemed pretty limiting. My steak was pretty tough and not that flavorful; I had ordered it without the accompanying grits but it came that way just the same, although the waiter promptly removed it to the kitchen and returned shortly with a replated grit-less version. Chicken and dumplings were very good, however. High points: good whiskey and beer list, good cocktails, nice ambiance and decor, friendly waiter. And to their credit, they comped us the appetizers in recognition of the slow service. All told, the whole thing smacked of a place that doesn't quite have its act together.

We were there too late to eat, but stopped at the bar for a few drinks on the recommendation of a friend. Friendly and knowledgeable bartender, plus a good draft list with several local options. Cocktails were great. Hope to make it back here to try the food, which sounded great!

We were excited to try this spot in Rockland. We sat at the communal long table with adjustable benches right next to the bar. Initially, the service was slow but improved once the bartender came to wait on us. The draught beer and wine by the glass selections were good. My husband's old fashioned was very good, too. Highly recommend the tobacco onion rings and grilled peach salad. The gumbo and lobster & grits were tasty as well. Bartender was very friendly and the overall vibe was fun and relaxed. We'll definitely return next time we're in town.

If you are looking for an open but intimate atmosphere with original food and drinks, you best be on your way to 3 Crow!!! From the handcrafted lighting to the soulful and playful music to the Lobster n' Grits, Macaroni & Cheese, Parfait, and Oxbow Saison...we couldn't get enough! Everything and everyone felt chill but urban all rolled in one. You won't be sorry!

3 crow seems to have pulled It off: a restaurant that offers both a lively bar scene and is kid-friendly. On top of that the food is super. The Southern touch is a little improbable for coastal Maine but I've had less impressive Dixie cuisine south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Great fried chicken, terrific sides and thoughtful and courteous service.

We had high expectations and we were not disappointed. It was good at every turn. Started with happy hour--a fantastic cocktail and a flight of beer samplers for a very reasonable price. Good atmosphere at the bar--friendly bar tender and clientele. Great beer selection on draught. Transition to dinner was even better. Started with the hush puppies. TO DIE FOR. Also the sour dough bread with the honey butter was a fantastic treat. Entrees were nicely done--my husband had the bacon burger which was well-prepared with tobacco onions and quite possibly the best dipping sauce ever for the fries. I had sweet potato ravioli, also delicious. It was difficult to choose which dessert to have--we ended up with the butterscotch pudding and the rhubarb shortbread and mint ice cream. Both outstanding in their own right. I especially loved the combination of flavors with the rhubarb and mint. Great service, great décor, could not have had a better experience.
