Franks the owner is awesome, walking the floors checking in on tables - invested! The food, sushi and hibachi always great! We usually hang at the bar but the food is always great and consistent. Great atmosphere and go Thursday's for live music.

Food and drinks are great. Surprised to see a nice place like this in Lewiston. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's nice inside! Bloody Mary was awesome here too.

I have only tried the hibachi, but it was great. I like that they squirt the watered down sake in your mouth, just make sure you have a designated driver, even though your not drunk they don't always have great aim and you leave there smelling like you jumped in a barrel of it.

Some of the worst service I have ever had. We were seating at the hibachi grill for 25 mins without even being asked if we wanted a drink. We went to the bar and the bartender refused to make us a drink. When we did get our food, the soup was cold. The meal was made in pieces, rice first then meat then vegetable. Poor timing. We will not go again.

One of my favorite foods is sushi. I have accrued a list of favorite restaurants to indulge my sushi cravings, and while I didn't hate this place, it also did not make my favorites list. The reasons? Atmosphere and inconsistency in roll 'tightness'. Each time I have dined here, I get the feeling I'm in some underwater room. It's beyond dim lighting wise and the dining area's beaded curtain separation from the rest of the space seems to spotlight everyone instead of giving them a bit of privacy. The drum playing at various times is beyond loud and off-putting for a dining experience, in my opinion. And if you've got any hearing issues at all, this room is full of tinny echo, making quiet conversation nearly impossible. The food is good, though I've found the consistency in sushi roll structure to be lacking. I enjoy eating with chopsticks and this last experience left me holding my breath hoping the roll would remain intact on the way to my mouth rather than crumbling to pieces en route, ending up in my lap or on the floor. That said, the flavor wasn't lacking. I opted for the Boston roll and Blackened Seared Tuna most recently, which both turned out to be what I'd expected, given their menu descriptions. I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't overly impressed either. The staff is this restaurant's most redeeming quality. They are pleasant, knowledgable, and make what might otherwise be a blasé experience, far more enjoyable. And aside from friends choosing this restaurant to get together, the staff is the only other reason I would opt to eat here over another Japanese Cuisine restaurant. If you're looking for sushi that tastes good, decent pricing, and friendly waitstaff, this place delivers. If you want consistent presentation, ambiance that allows intimate conversation, and food that leaves you planning your next visit in excitement, like me, this may not be the place for you.

One of my favorite places to go! Hibachi is an experience everyone should have and the chefs here are well worth the visit. Funny, interactive and the food is always amazing! But if you're looking for something a bit more relaxed the bar will not disappoint! The amazing bartenders are always extremely attentive have great suggestions for anyone who may not know what to have and are constantly concocting new delicious beverages. Now that all being said, the sushi is what brings me back to this place. Must try's include: the flame thrower, jaguar and the peanut avocado roll. Starters: rock shrimp and calamari will not disappoint you! This is a great addition to the L/A area and well worth a try! Joy

The hibachi is really cool and the hibachi chef is pretty goofy. Overall it was an awesome experience! Good for kids

This is really good Japanese food. The atmosphere isn't super-high-end like some of the Japanese places in Portland, but it's easily one of the nicer restaurants in Lewiston. I usually get the fried udon with vegetables and add tofu -- the total price is about $11. The decor is a bit much, but I think overall it's just a very cool place to go in the area.

Wow. What a lack of culture and etiquette from the hostess. Just because I'm the only Asian person coming to your Asian restaurant, and dressed nicer than anyone in your wannabe high end restaurant doesn't mean I deserve your dirty looks. And when I call to try and make reservations, and you tell me you don't take reservations, well then don't be surprised when I ask how long the wait is when I walk in.

Last night I enjoyed a fantastic hibachi experience in of all places Lewiston. The atmosphere is great. I felt like I was in a Manhattan restaurant, not a former failed discount retailer. The food was incredible. I had the chicken and steak combo. It was fantastic. The service was also great. The cook was entertaining and funny. The waitress always paid attention and even knew it was my birthday when I showed my i.d. It is a little pricey but definitely worth it. These are the types of restaurants Lewiston needs to attract.

This is the best sushi I've had in the L/A area! The decor is a bit gaudy, but I guess they're trying to create a posh atmosphere for their customers. In addition to sushi, Sea40 has hibachi tables, which are the only ones in the L/A area to my knowledge. They have lots of yummy options for sushi lovers, including all the standards and many unique specialty rolls. (We tried white fish nigiri, Philly roll, Lewiston roll, and...2 others I can't remember) All our rolls tasted fresh and we happily devoured them all. I don't recall the prices because I didn't pay (thank you, loving boyfriend), but I know it's not too expensive (because we are cheap people). Our server was a bit of a tool, whose only job was to take our order and give us our check (they have food runners and water fillers galore) and he still couldn't manage to do that efficiently. Overall, it was a great dining experience and I hope to come back on my next visit to Maine.

Great sushi, everything from here has been top notch. Love the gyoza and the fried rice is perfect. My only complaint would be the noise level. Some noise dampening rods on the ceiling would be a quick and inexpensive fix, that would go a long way in making the customer experience so much better.

Sea40 is my favorite place in L/A for sushi. I have tried many different rolls, all of them excellent, with my favorite being the specialty ones such as the dynamite, paradise and cowboy. Sooooo good! I have also had the hibachi several times. It is always fresh, super tasty and the chefs put on a great show. The bartenders are attentive and genuine, like on Cheers! Best of all, the owner is ever present to ensure great food and great service. He is a lovely man always making sure everything is top notch. Not only all that, but they have all kinds of fun events like karaoke and a summer "sea bash", exclusive party with a band and games in the parking lot. It was a blast! Every meal I have ever had there has been fabulous.

Food was decent but the show was mediocre. The staff was not very nice and they neglected to tell us about extra charges on food (it wasn't in the menu either). I don't think I will be going back anytime soon.

The food was good, the show was semi entertaining but mediocre. Things I didn't like was the fact that only your first refill was free, and they add tip directly to your bill. Well deserving of the 2 stars I have given...

Hibachi lunch is around $10. Soooo inexpensive!! Food was good, people were good, chef is good although some of them do not speak English so much. But they cook goood!! That is needed to bring this super inexpensive menue, I assume. My friend and I had Scallap and Shrimp and a couple of Maki. We had chicken deal. It was sooo good :)

Food & atmosphere is good. Stay away from the bar. The drinks are watered down. Wine servings are approx 3 oz. Drinks are about seven dollars each.

Middle of the road, food, service, facility. A bit pricey for what you get.

The food is excellent and the sushi is the best I've had in the area. However the service needs to work out some kinks. We had a 7:30 reservation but weren't seated until after 8:30. The hostess came to seat us and seemed very annoyed when we had to settle our tabs with the bartender. When we did actually sit it was another 45 min before our orders were taken. Most of us ordered a plate of sushi to go along with our hibachi meals. After our orders were taken it was another 20 mins before we got salads and our hibachi chef finally came over. He was very good and cooked quite fast! He put on a great show. We had to remind our waitress that we had ordered sushi and we got that at some point in the middle of our meals. The food was excellent and we ate everything on our plates because we were all so hungry since we waited 2 hours for it. It was pretty clear that they were very busy but it seemed like they had maybe overbooked their hibachi grills.

I love, love, love this place! The food is fabulous, fresh and well presented. The atmosphere is unlike anything in the area, truly beautiful! I was saddened to read the review from L.B. because I feel it was too soon to make a negative review as they were only open a couple of days when they had this negative experience. Any restaurant I have ever been to on opening night has always had kinks to work out, that stuff comes with time. I have talked To the manager Franki and he is all about making his customers happy! Just one example of how they want to please their customers is when my family dined there the other night we had a request, My sister brought her newborn but found that they did not have a changing table. So she mentioned it to Franki and his response was " I will order one tonight"! That is good customer service right there if you ask me, he wants people to be happy and it shows. I highly recommend this restaurant and am already making reservations to eat there again this weekend, can't wait!
