A lot of fun! Lots of things to explore as well as a very friendly staff. I loved the breakfast, it was simple and delicious. I really enjoyed the endless knick-knacks and art lining the walls, as well as the little perks like free popcorn, beverages, bikes, and more. If you're willing to truly have fun with the bed and breakfast experience, then this is a great place to stay. This mansion has a lot of personality. I think authors, screenwriters and artists would have a lot of fun in a place like this...just countless stories and concepts flow through this Inn. Especially if there's a thunderstorm outside! We walked around the mansion late at night and had fun pretending it was haunted! I felt like I was in an Agatha Christie book! I dunno if that's your thing, but I had a lot of fun with it. This Inn makes quite an impression and is an experience I'll remember for a long time.

The Captain Lord Mansion is my favorite B & B (and my husband and I are huge B & B& people). The mansion is beautiful, the staff is friendly, the breakfasts are amazing. Each room is exquisitely decorated and maintained and the beds are some of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. If you have the chance, take some time to stay at the Captain Lord Mansion!

Let me preface by saying that I'm not a bed and breakfast person. I'm not into antiques, and the thought of chatting up strangers--let alone first thing in the morning---is not my bag. But the Captain Lord, man alive, am I glad I was talked into taking my winter getaway here. We went mid-week in the bitter cold of January, at a time when the lovely tourist mecca of Kennebunkport is deader'n a doornail, and I tell you when the time came I did not want to leave. I could have stayed a week or more. Why? Because the owners have it all figured out here. The service. The guestrooms. The ever-changing homemade three-course breakfast menu and daily snacks. All the extras and amenities. It is a true gem. We splurged on the best room in the house for two nights, a room which boasted two fireplaces, one of which was in a room dedicated to a jacuzzi tub. The third night we moved to another room across the hallway and though we were down a fireplace, it was still luxurious. Ultra comfy beds, mini refrigerators stocked with complimentary soft drinks, heated bathroom floors... it was a winter wonderland, very romantic and conducive to couple-y togetherness and relaxation. It's also within walking distance to the few restaurants that were open, which is a big plus for me. It's not cheap to be sure, even in the off-season, but I don't mind paying the price for such an experience. I'd go again in a heartbeat, and I would choose to go in the winter.

Nicest people, very nice place. Everyone here is so hospitable - from the owners, to the workers to the ladies who cook up your lovely 3 course breakfast. It's an amazing place. Over the top: 1. Heated bathroom tile floors. AMAZING. 2. Various free beverages in your own fridge. 3. 3 course breakfasts - homemade and delicious. The linens are first class. The details in the rooms are so well thought of and paid very close attention to. It's worth the money and the trip to stay in this place.

We've been here for our anniversary overnight the past four years and really enjoy it. Rick and Bev don't spare any expense for their guest stay from free drinks in the rooms, after dinner drinks, baked goods, Nescafé coffee machine, and last but not least the microwave popcorn + matching bowl. Staff is very friendly, rooms super quaint and clean. I'd recommend CLM for your own getaway up the coast. Don't forget to hop on the mountain bikes for a cruise up to Bush mansion, the blowhole, the old church and along the coast beach houses. Go across the street to the arundel wharf for the don't miss lobster club sandwich and you'll be thankful you read this review ;)

All the staff make this a unique experience. The breakfast is very special, and really good also. The gift shop has very extensive unique items for sale. Each room has its own special charm and is authentic to the era. There are excellent restaurants for dinner nearby. A must is to see the HWBush museum in town of Kennebunkport. Also the Bush mansion on the point is something to behold. Some property !! We were there when the leaves we're changing and it was absolutely gorgeous!! Stan & Dianne King Beverly Hills, Ca

This was a wonderful experience. My wife and I came for our 15 year anniversary and stayed at the Lincoln room with sofas and a fireplace. The bathroom had marble flooring with heated floors (wife's favorite, now she wants them at home). Very nice and cozy room. The service and amenities was spectacular. There is a 24 hour coffee, Expresso, tea, and hot cocoa bar. They also have other drinks all day and snacks after 2pm in the kitchen (ie cookies, raspberry squares, etc.). We were even more impressed when we also discovered chocolate wine at night for the guests. The included breakfast was delicious, Belgium waffles with fresh fruit, yogurt, and soft boiled egg that was cooked perfectly. The second morning was soufflé, steak and eggs, sticky buns, fruits and yogurt. We came out stuffed every morning (it's ok we are on vacation). The staff was all very friendly and helpful (especially Sue the cook who gave me extra cookies). You can tell the long term staff enjoyed their work and paid attention to details. As a business owner myself, you know this makes a big difference. The grounds was nice and expensive with lots of flowers, lawn chairs and outdoor seating. There is a walkway of stone pavers with engraved names of guests over 10 visits. You can't get this kind of loyalty without being great. We will definitely be back soon.

I am not sure I can say anthing different than the other reviewers of the Captian Lord Mansion! Our stay here whas, well PHENOMENAL!!!! When we arrived, we were greeted bu ashley,, who was cheerful and friendly. She gave us the grand tour before showing us to our room. All rooms have a heated tile bathroom floor (and since we where there in January--was just amazing to walk on in the early am's!), a gas fireplace, and well, just the overall charm of Kennebunkport. The bed was comfortable abd teh room was well appointed. The breakfast (which I was totally excited for, before we even got there) was nothing less than fantastic and delish. Seated at the dining table with other guests made it feel like you were at "home" for a holiday breakfast. Getting to know everyone and sharing stories, dining and tourist reccomendations was great. The staff pays every attention to detail, and is so helpful. Bev and Rick have done a great job and are wonderfull hosts! If you have a chance to get to Kennebunkport, ME--This IS the place to stay.

Captain Lord is everything a B&B should B B&Bs should have a personality somewhere between your favorite aunt and the grandmother who always used to cook for you. Captain Lord is all that and then some: First, this is a gorgeous place. It is tastefully decorated in the Old World sense. The grounds are immaculate with plenty of space to read or hang out. The rooms are fantastic with a great bed, sofa and fireplace. Large jacuzzi is a nice touch The other B excels as well...The pancake with cheese and blueberry inside were my favs, but the fruit was fresh as well. You don't leave this place hungry Perhaps, the best part is the owners understand the biz of B&B. Its like being a guest in a very nice house with good friends only better. If you are staying in Kennebunck, this is a can't miss

Fantastic! We stayed in the Americana this past week and the staff was great. My wife loved the slipper tub and I love the fire place. Very relaxing! We look forward to going back.

This is our second visit to the inn, which my mother visits at least yearly. In the winter months, it's a great destination for pure relaxation: Kennebunkport feels a bit like a ghost town at night this time of year, so curling up by the fire is a wonderful way to end a week. The innkeepers epitomize hospitality and I know I'll be back again and again. Complimentary cold and warm drinks are available all day and night, and I'm always eager to see which delicious homemade desserts will be out for us to enjoy. A family-style breakfast fits in perfectly with the vibe here; the place seems to attract friendly and engaging guests. Check the website for seasonal deals; we're using the buy two nights, get one free deal, and when we got here, we were pleased to see we were upgraded to a bigger room (amenities include heated marble floors in the bathroom, a fireplace and jet tub for two) at no extra cost.

I'm sorry to say, over-rated. We made reservations In early June for a mid-Sept. stay. Requested ground floor, because of health reasons, and certainly expected to be in the Mansion. We were in the Garden house, second floor, and told that we had agreed to this arrangement. Not true. Needless to say we were and are not happy. Jan Hundeby, Irvine Ca.
