The hostess was very kind and accommodating and the place very well maintained. It's off the main road, so it is very quiet, parking is ample and the overall experience pleasant. Breakfast was better than most B&B's - hats off to the chef.

Jessica and her staff's warm hospitality and attention to details made my stay perfect. Great location - short walk to town. Arts and crafts fair across street. Hotel was super clean. Breakfast was decent, bacon was to die for. Loved the idea of living in historic home built in early 1800s by Capt. Fairfield himself.

Just got back from a wonderful, relaxing weekend at the Captain Fairfield Inn. Everything from the delicious breakfasts to the well-appointed rooms to the personable and personal experience provided by the innkeepers, Loryn and Finn, was absolutely fantastic. I left feeling pampered and very well fed. If you're looking for a romantic get-away to a quaint New England town, I just cannot recommend the Captain Fairfield Inn highly enough.

We had a thoroughly fantastic stay at Captain Fairfield Inn during the week of July 4th. Admittedly, we were at first reticent at the idea of an inn/b&b (us being hip & young and all) but with a referral from Jetsetter and generally stellar reviews, we decided to give it a go. We definitely made the right decision. The accommodations provide complete modern amenities with a historic charm. Think flat screen television, an iPad provided upon arrival, designer bed and bath linens and rainfall shower head. The innkeepers, Jed, Alana and Jessica are genuinely delightful people. The location is ideal, walking distance to the hustle and bustle of Dock Square. We were even able to walk to Colony Beach to watch the fireworks. We stayed two nights in the Walker Room which was great but the other 3 nights were spent in the recently re-done Lark Suite which is complete lovely luxury. I highly recommend the Lark Suite which is spacious, well designed and had a fireplace and private outdoor patio area (wifi worked perfectly as I was sitting outside the patio and streaming Netflix). I aspire to have a bathroom just like the one in the Lark Suite some day! The 3-course gourmet breakfast is tasty and a nice added value. We also arranged to have an a la carte experience with a lobster picnic dinner for us and some family in town. Everything was setup beautifully and we were very pleased with how it turned out. We plan on being repeat guests!

We recently stayed at the Captain Fairfield Inn and greatly enjoyed our stay. Everything was perfect from the time we arrived to the time we checked out. Jessica and her staff were so courteous and welcoming. The Captain Fairfield Inn is definitely atop our list of favorite stays. We will be back! Also, grab a sea salt chocolate chip cookie. You won't be disappointed!

Our stay at the Captain Fairfield Inn was by far one of the most accommodating, comfortable and lush experiences in all of our travels and to top it off, some of the best staff I've encountered. Jess and Crystal truly made our stay extra special, by giving us a room by room tour of the property and explaining some of the history behind the house. As we checked in and toured the facility, we were greeted by the best sea salt chocolate chip cookies and treated ourselves to a glass of white wine to sip in the parlor. The room itself was spectacular, with extra comfy pillows and blankets (the best away from home sleep i've ever had!), and the room was extremely clean with wine glasses other amenities awaiting us. With the complimentary iPad, we found restaurant recommendations that were in walking distance, with Jess and Crystal giving us additional places to visit in the main part of town. Just a few short minutes from the center of town, the Inn was quiet and convenient for exploring! (tip- theres a fridge that offers drinks on the honor system, also a good place to store leftovers from dinner!) After our amazing nights sleep, we woke up and had an incredible breakfast- Smoothies, coffee, french toast sticks, goat cheese B.E.L.T's, fruit cups.. Thats not even 1/2 of what there was to offer! We spent a good chunk of time sipping coffee and chatting with Jess and Crystal who made sure everything was okay and if there was anything else they could offer us. Needless to say, the Captain Fairfield Inn was a wonderful place to stay, and we will definitely be back for the great breakfast, luxurious accommodations and top notch staff!

Picking out what weekend to book the Captain Fairfield I realized that I have been here several times and it deserves a review. 1. The location is great. You are right on a side street halfway between the beach and Dock Square. Perfect location. 2.Jed and Alana are fantastic Inn Keepers. After each stay I have contacted the parent company (Lark Hotels) to sing their praises. They could not be more hospitable or make you feel more welcome to be there. 3. The building and grounds are beautiful, the rooms are luxurious no matter which you stay in. 4. The breakfast and baked goods are ridiculous. Don't go out for breakfast as it is the best breakfast to be had in town.

My wife surprised with a stay here for our anniversary. It's everything you want and desire from a Kennebunkport B&B. The breakfast was a 3 course crafted experience and it tasted amazing. The room was comfy and the location is a short walk to the downtown area.

Amazing service, we could not have ask for more attentive inn keepers. Delivered breakfast to the room every morning. Rooms are large, no closets, (dresser and a hanging rack). bathroom was very nice, the shower was on the smaller side. I am very happy with the room and the hotel. Fireplace in the room was lovely, and they offer IPads and apple tvs in the rooms. My only complaint would be for off season pricing, this place is definitely expensive.

We were completely underwhelmed after spending 2 nights at the Captain Fairfield. I am trying to figure out why the ratings from other travelers are so favorable. The room was old and smaller than one expects in a B&B. There was no sitting area. Online photos of the room are deceiving and make you think there is more space than there actually is. The bathroom was tiny and in desperate need of updating. The common areas in the house were ok, but really nothing memorable. The staff here was young and not helpful. We complained the room was not what we expected after checking in, and never heard back on other room options. Nobody helped us with our luggage either and didn't bother to assist. I would stay at the Captain Lord and Captain Jeffords Inn both which fit my eye on what a romantic B&B should look like.

We had a fabulous weekend away at the Captain Fairfield Inn. From the moment we pulled up the Inn looked exactly as we expected; a beautiful old mansion. We were instantly greeted by the friendly inn keepers which after a long drive made us feel right at home. The decor was a perfect mix of old traditional New England and a touch of modern. Our room was just as described; it had a wonderful gas fireplace, comfortable king size bed, sofa for extra seating, and an updated, clean bathroom. But it was the small touches that made our stay. As we were given the initial tour we were greeted with an Ipad stocked with suggestions of restaurants and must sees, fresh baked cookies and a complimentary glass of wine. The room was stocked with great products and a pair of white robes. Unfortunately we slept through breakfast but we woke up to a basket outside our door with hot coffee, muffins, blueberry pancakes, bacon and orange juice. The wonderful staff was beyond helpful with checkout, even offering to take care of our luggage. The Captain Fairfield Inn was a perfect B&B for a weekend away and we plan on going back very soon!

I have stayed at 4 B&Bs in Kennebunkport in the past 6 years or so. Captain Fairfield is as good as it gets. I have stayed there SIX times and am going back again in a few weeks. Jed and Alana could not be more gracious. Delicious breakfasts and snacks. Rooms are always absolutely spotless; bathrooms are sparkling. I enthusiastically recommend Captain Fairfield to everyone. Room rates are commensurate with location. NOTE: Do NOT stay in a room downstairs unless you are a heavy sleeper, as the front door and the lounge area are right by the rooms.

My husband and I booked a room here for our honeymoon. I booked the James room months before our arrival based on customer reviews stating it was one of the quietest rooms. When I got to the hotel they put us in Walker. When I brought my receipt showing how early I booked and my receipt showed James, I was told that there was nothing they can do about the room. They gave us a bottle of Champagne for our troubles. The place was relaxing, the breakfast was filled with friendly guests and decent food, but I felt it was so unfair to have booked a specific thing for such a special weekend and a bottle of champagne is what we were offered for the mix up. It left such an uneasy feeling with both myself and my husband that we didn't even want to walk past the reception area to see the staff. We felt little sympathy from the staff, which was so disappointing on such a special weekend for us.

I grew up reading Kenneth Roberts' historical fiction set in the early American port town of Arundel, Maine. I may or may not have even had a minor fictional crush on the fictional nineteenth century sea captain Captain Richard Nason. Funnily enough, I booked a stay at the Captain Fairfield with my real-life twenty-first century ship captain boyfriend before I learned that the original Captain Fairfield sailed for the real-life Nasons (whom Roberts' characters are based on) and Arundel was renamed Kennebunkport in the 1800s. That coincidence could be a great premise for an ABC Family movie, but, alas, there was no time traveling. Nonetheless, we had a great stay at the Captain Fairfield and I would recommend it to anyone. The classically beautiful Federalist style house is really the epitome of a New England sea captain's house. I particularly liked the period pieces in the house--I wasn't so crazy about the contemporary boutique pieces. According to their newsletter, the Captain Fairfield recently unveiled a few new modern boutique rooms. I guess that's one way of standing out in the traditional town of Kennebunkport (home of nineteenth-century sea captains and the Bushes), but I'm a traditionalist at heart, so I prefer the more classic rooms. The innkeepers, Hillary and Nate, do a wonderful job at making guests feel welcome. Guests are allowed access to the pantry which holds French presses, lovely stoneware mugs, a kettle, complimentary tea, coffee, and juice, as well as an honor bar of wine and soft drinks. They also put out homemade cookies in the afternoon. One of the nicest touches is that they tell guests to feel free to use the facilities after they check out in case they want to still explore the town. Breakfast was as delicious as other yelpers have said it was. We started with a watermelon, arugula, feta salad, followed by a buttery scone, followed by a Belgian waffle (for me) and omelet (for my boyfriend). The homemade juice, which was more like a thin smoothie, was also great. The location is perfect--right downtown, across from the Kennebunk, and a nice two-mile walk to the Walker estate.

I love this inn, I am completely serious when I say that I want to live here, specifically in the Captain Fairfield room. This has been the only establishment that I have dealt with on multiple occasions and they have consistently always been more than helpful and accommodating and always seem to meet and exceed my needs. This place is quaint, quiet, warm, and inviting. The breakfast in the morning is better than any place else that I have stayed and overall it is just a great experience. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area!! I've only been during off seasons, so I can't attest to mid-summer but staying here for a night in the winter is lovely, with french press coffee and a fireplace in your room, it's so cozy!! Okay, I will stop professing my love... I swear I don't work for them I just love them so much!!

I am rather stingy on my five star ratings, but this inn is very close. Extensive renovations have tastefully added a modern twist to a classic building giving it an "edge". Historical exterior and interior layout but with modern furniture lighting and wall coverings. The Inn is managed by Hillary and Nate, one of the most competent and charming young couples in the B&B business. The three course breakfasts always have an innovation of some kind that sets them apart from the traditional bacon and eggs. This morning it was a homemade juice blend of OJ, blended with banana, apple and yogurt (but still more a juice than a smoothie), a yogurt parfait with fresh berries, a scone with salt, pepper and scallions (it was really good too!), a choice of waffles with toasted coconut, strawberries, cream and local bacon OR a mushroom omelette with parmesan and whole grain toast. Both mains were excellent. Located at the corner of Green and Pleasant Streets, the Inn is only minutes by foot to the major commercial street and immediately adjacent to the incredible neighborhood of historic and modern mansions along the ocean.

This is the definition of the perfect bed & breakfast. Friendly staff, great location and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in...seriously we're trying to buy one for our house.

We visited the Inn during the early spring and it was a great quick getaway from Boston. Greeted promptly by the staff and we were on our way. When we arrived there was a great cheese and wine platter waiting for us which you are able to order. The Inn was very comfortable, clean and easy to relaxing in. Breakfast was perfect as we both went with the delicious eggs Benedict! My favorite part maybe the amazing cookies which happen to be downstairs during the afternoon. Jed was nice enough to even give me a copy so I can make them at home! (well I will make them one day)

Best inn in Kennebunkport - or anywhere! I've stayed in several charming northeast inns, but this one is by far the best. The place is beautiful, the beds are heavenly - and the best part is the amazing food prepared by the sweetest innkeepers we've ever met. When I read about the Captain Fairfield before visiting, I didn't really believe the food would be as good as they claimed. In fact, it was even better! Three courses every morning with homemade everything right down to the bread. Alana and Jed are the best hosts anyone could ask for. Could not love this place more and we will definitely be back and visit the other inns of the Lark Company! Thank you, Captain Fairfield!

My wife and stayed here for two nights and wish we could have extended our trip longer. Like the other yelpers, we were in the Sweet Liberty room, a spacious corner upstairs room overlooking the street. Loryn and Finn are the most down to earth and friendliest innkeepers you could meet. Their friendly service and hospitality could not have been better. Homemade cookies in the afternoon, and incredible locally-sourced breakfasts in the morning. (I still crave Loryn's pancakes with Maine blueberries and Maine maple syrup every now and then, and it has almost been a year since we have been back.) Finn turned us on to Mighty Leaf teas, which were served in the breakfast room and were available to guests at all hours of the day and night. We have stacks of those teas now that we found them at a local grocery store. They helped us have the best Maine experience... We will be back!

My wife and I commented this morning (over a delicious 3-course breakfast) that we feel absolutely no desire or need to look for a different inn or B&B to stay at for the next time we come to town. We've found our "spot." The location is prime; just off the beaten path, you're not so close to the crowds where you feel like you can't escape, but in reality you're only a few minute walk away from downtown Kennebunkport. The inn itself is gorgeous. It is decorated very handsomely, and you feel very comfortable and very much at home within its walls. Our room ("Sweet Liberty") was perfectly warm and comforting. My wife thinks she may use this room as inspiration for our master bedroom at home. I've never seen her so relaxed before. Finn and Loryn are an amazing team. Just about the friendliest and down-to-earth people you could meet, they helped us get around town and gave us some nice tips on where to eat and what to see. We can't wait until the next opportunity we'll get to come stay at the Captain Fairfield Inn again. We just loved it!

So last minute, as in the day before, I was trying to book a room for a Saturday night in Portland. Everything was sold out. Well, any place I would consider staying at... So I took a look at places in Kennebunkport. Found the Captain Fairfield here on Yelp, saw it had all 5 star reviews and booked it. Stayed in the Kennebunkport Room, Room #9. It's not cheap, but I'm willing to pay more for cleanliness... otherwise my OCD will nip at me the entire time. The place was great! Again, I even risked walking around barefoot ;) Plus, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Now breakfast is served between 8:30 and 9:30. That's early for me on the weekends. But the guy who checked us in (Brandon) said it was not to be missed. HE WASN'T KIDDING. A three-course breakfast that was inventive and absolutely amazing. Don't skip breakfast if you stay here! The Inn's a bit pricey, but with that kinda of wake up fare, it's a bargain. Really cannot recommend it enough.
