For the first time this vacation, we did not feel like we were being taken advantage of as tourists! Great breakfast for two for $7??! And dessert for another $7?! Unheard of around here and so appreciated! Thank you!

An absolute gem. Located in a former Hardware store, this place serves most casual culinary desires. Whether it's a sandwich for lunch, ala cart selections for dinner, or catering for a large group, I've never had a bad meal. They have a reasonable selection of wines if you need one in a pinch and a unique selection of nick-knacks, many from local artists. Overall, it is a good experience.

Spotty and dismissive service. Confusing ordering process and staff has always seemed confused about staffing the counter or the register on my visits. I've liked the sandwiches and soups I've ordered, but if this place wasn't super close to where I was staying I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. I think the area needs more places like this because they need some more options and competition. If there were more spots for take out and pre-prepared foods in the area I don't think this spot would get as much attention.

Stopped by for lunch, the tomato, basil mozzarella sandwich to die for!!!! Crusty grilled bread with gooey mozzarella cheese and tomatoes and pesto oozing out! Service a bit slow but worth the wait. Cute little store with food items, gift and food gift items. We stopped back later for a bottle of wine which was surprisingly not over priced for a small store ( same price at NH liquor store). Worth the visit!

What a gem. This place is yummy, cozy, chill, and down to earth and a warm and fuzzy way, w/some creative shopping to boot. We were very excited to stumble upon this little gourmet shop and won't miss an opportunity to go back!

This is a temple of "just-so"-ness in the beating heart of Cape Porpoise, just next to that other temple of gourmet goodness, The Wayfarer Restaurant, and the bastion of civilization across the street, Bradbury's Market (and post office, 04014!!!). You can tell by just looking at their offerings in the glass whether you are going to eat well or not. Trust your eyes!! On Thursdays they sell whole meals for $13, which is fantastic value given that they give you appetizer, sides, and main dish. Lamb stew: mouthwatering! Pork osso bucco: as good as I have ever had, but they only dished up one slice per portion, how about some generosity here? Their pot roast: to die for. The cook here should marry the cook from the Wayfarer and bring up a whole foodie family!! Their wine selection I like because it has a lot of bottles from France, at not obscene prices. Imagine this, in the middle of winter and gobs of snow and general misery, you can walk in here and choose in the back between a Mâcon and a Chablis to go with your roast turkey dinner sold out the front!! How awesome is that? They sell this weird gelato/ice cream hybrid called Gelato Fiasco. It is wicked spendy, just-so stuff from trendy Portland, ME, but this local delight kicks butt over almost every other ice cream I have ever had out of a store. Their dark chocolate is obscenely, intensely rich, but for my money, the darkened caramel-sea salt combo is worth putting up with any frozen dairy product on God's earth. My kids dig their cookies and pastries, but for the best whoopie pies and brownies in this territory, you have to visit Winks in Arundel. Have yet to try sandwiches here. They sell a lot of overpriced useless junk that idiot tourists will fork over dollars for, but you yelp-ers are smart enough not to fall for those tricks. But their coffee stinks, that brings them down a star for me. For an item that practically everyone wants, you would think they could fix that problem. It is not much better than the dirty dishwater they sell at Bradbury's, but still better than Dunkin Donuts. Weird, because other reviewers praise their coffee. Go figure. This place is probably a madhouse in the summer months.

I really want to give this place more stars because the sandwiches are great. But the fact that they don't have a bathroom for guests is a huge downfall for me - especially since I'm pregnant and they sent me to a market across/up the street. So if you're stopping for a bite when sightseeing... It just kind of ruins the luncheon experience.

I am shocked that this place only has 3 stars. I absolutely loved the food and coffee that I got here daily. The coffee was excellent (so good that they run out frequently, but worth the wait) The turkey sausage breakfast sandwhich was perfect (english muffin was a good size and tasted great and just the right amount of cheddar cheese, with two turkey sausage patties) The potato salad was delicious and the wine selection is great. I would prefer to get take out at Cape Porpoise Kitchen and have a great beach picnic or take home to dine on the patio than eat at an overpriced tourist trap of a restaurant any day. We recently got steamed lobsters from Langsford Lobsters and some side dishes and a bottle of wine from Cape Porpoise Kitchen and had a wonderful meal at our picnic table where everyone raved about the meal. If your a foody and you appreciate quality and innovative food, eat here and don't waste your time or money at the place next door.

Went there today for a couple of sandwiches. Ordered, waited. Was asked twice by the person who took my order what I was waiting for. After 30 minutes, I asked where my sandwiches were Was told "theyre in the works" -- same thing many others were told. After 45 minutes, I asked about my order again! Was told "any minute". I said I was about to pass out from hunger, while my husband waited outside. Was asked if I had paid!?!? Of course, 45 minutes ago! She asked if I wanted a refund!! I said no -- I want my sandwiches!!! The place was very busy with customers, but behind the counter, it was chaos! Very poorly laid out food prep area, no one seems to know who's doing what. Knowing summer lunchtime is extra busy, why don't they prepare for it with trained, efficient people? The sandwiches were OK, ( although my BLT must have had a pound of bacon on it -- i like bacon, but that was a little much!), but have been better in previous visits. The place has changed from a nice little local spot to a kitschy, snooty place catering to all the summer visitors with prices to match! Won't go back until all the tourists go home!!! P.S. Be aware -- No restrooms!!!!

Great gourmet food to go! Chilled wines, bold coffee , pastries, sold selection of cheeses, fresh bread, sea inspired novelties, tea towels, gifts.

Do not come here! They move at a snails pace, they don't care, and our turkey Reuben took 20 minutes. As locals, just avoid this at all costs.I asked for my sandwich and they were offended. After glaring at me, they threw our sandwich on the counter. I didn't see one smile the whole time.

Excellent place to get panini's after a day at the beach. Fresh ingredients and made to order. The lobster melt looked amazing but I went with the Tuscani for the massive roasted red peppers. CPK has a small deli selection of pasta salads and dinner entrees to take with you. I wanted to sample the whole case. They make pastries, cookies and other bake goods on a daily basis, etc. 20 dollars for two paninis, 2 drinks, 2 cookies resulted in two full bellies.

While the sandwiches here are nothing special and the prices are steep, the little shop is just adorable, well-placed (for hunger-to-desparation maximization from passers-by - brilliant!), and carries enough variety to satiate nearly anyone! We tried a few different items on our stop. The turkey bacon avocado wrap was delicious on the inside, but the wrap was dry and crumbly, which made the whole sandwich mediocre. The reuban was a mistake to order - having Sam Lagrassa's nearby has made me a reuban-snob, so if you're from anywhere with a great reuban, this one will surely disappoint. Skip it. The torino panini was the most filling of the sandwiches (could be the cheese?) but the panino was grilled so heavily that the bread became black and just-too crusty in spots. It's not a flavor adventure, but it does satisfy a hungry person. The staff is extremely nice, but please beware when ordering - they forgot many portions of our order, mis-charged us more than once, and got a few things wrong, all in the span of our 5-person team eating here. The pastries looked nice, but they were left on the counter uncovered and flies were circling/landing, so unless they get a case for these pastries, i'm not sure I'd want to dive right in to any of these. Lots of choices, "gourmet" shop, and friendly people, but if you can wait to eat/drink for a while longer, it may be worth taking a drive down the street elsewhere.

Cape Porpoise Kitchen is a cute little deli / food boutique with pretty good sandwiches. I was a little surprised at how disorganized the food prep area seemed (I was called back to the counter twice I think to clarify things in our order, and the sandwiches came out widely separated temporally), but I was happy with the food when it came and have no real complaints. They have a couple tables out front where we could sit with our dog, which is always appreciated.

Every time I come home to Maine, I go here. My visits tend to be in the morning hours because it is close to my family's home and CPK just has incredible coffee. They use Coffee by Design, which is a coffee roasting co. in Portland, ME (which is also worth a visit), but let's continue discussing CPK. They have house made pastries, muffins, scones, and sometimes, if you're lucky, baked french toast. They also have fantastic breakfast sandwiches if you get there early. Their large selection of prepared foods, sandwiches, and soups are great for lunch time and they offer a solid wine and cheese selection. The service is usually good, but I've noticed certain staff can become overwhelmed when it's super busy. Overall, it is without a doubt, one of the best places to get coffee and a non-wait-service breakfast in the Kennebunkport area. Their new location in downtown Kennebunkport is just as good as their Cape Porpoise location and more convenient for some.

Adorable indeed! I love it. I would never have expected this gourmet little gem to be hidden within its exterior. They have everything from freshly made sandwiches, bakery items, prepared dinner items, great wine selection to gourmet grocery items. The times we stopped in, we had lunch items. I had the tuna fish and dill sandwich, mediterranian wrap and a cup of their rich clam chowder chock full of clams. They were hearty portions and absolutely delicious. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. I would go out of my way to stop in here.

Yes, the interior is cutesy kitschy phony Down East Maine but the reason you'd stop here is the food and frankly, don't bother. This place was originally a catering business that supplies the rich summer people in those big "cottages" you see off ocean ave. They decided a few years ago to capitalize on the location on Rt 9 in Cape Porpoise and offer breakfast and lunch, ostensibly a "gourmet" version of traditional Maine fare. Unfortunately what you're offered sounds and looks like a Martha Stewart magazine, and is about as tasty. Witness this: "baked virginia ham with brie and honey dijonaisse on mutligrain bread". Sounds great, but the reality is more like: 2 razor thin slices of nondescript supermarket deli ham, forgot the brie entirely, and used a tiny dab of some retail honey mustard on some kind of "multigrain" that tasted like Wonder Bread. The hit for this disappointment and an equally lousy roast beef sandwich wrapped to go for a beach picnic---$20. Go to Bradbury Bros Market and buy your own ham, cheese and some decent bread and make your own sandwich. Stop at this place for a cup of coffee on your way to Goose Rocks. one positive note: the wine selection is quite good and reasonably priced, not a super blowout deal, but interesting choices at a reasonable price point to accompany a vacation meal or as an aperitif

Just moved down the road from this place and thought it would be a great place to get my morning latte. The older woman that works there is quite rude. The store has no system for ordering and paying so you may have to wait a really long time to get your order while other people get theirs right away. The espresso is mediocre and it appears that many of the young girls that work their have little to no barista training. On a separate note, much of the baked goods are on the counters uncovered so people pass money and their arms right over the top dropping bits over the muffins and cookies.

This is a great place for sandwiches and cheeses. They also have a nice selection of wines. Everything's looks great.

This place is excellent. The fresh salads are healthful and reasonably priced. Don't forget the cookies and brownies! It's a great place to have in town.
