Ive been here quite a few times and the food is always delicious. Their mango lassi is awesome and I love all their chutneys. I do feel the personality of the staff is a little stiff, a smile go"s a long way especially when I'm enjoying an amazing lamb curry.

I ate at this restaurant when they first opened several years ago. I had a good experience back then and wanted a repeat. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my visit earlier this month. I stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday to find it empty except for the wait staff. I tried to order some coffee (on the menu) but was told they didn't have any. The service and the food was simply average and frankly I would be hard pressed to return to the Jewel of India.

Now that I've eaten at the Jewel of India and ordered take out, I prefer the take out. The food is good but not quite as spicy as I'd expect. Although the food and service is good, the interior of the restaurant is sorely in need of updating. It feels old and tired despite the fact that the walls seem to have been painted in the last year, and the carpet is in really bad shape. I have no reason to think that there are any problems in the kitchen, but the dining room ambiance is unimpressive. Okay, back to the food. Aside from being under-spiced, everything tastes good. I'd like to suggest to the owners that they try Tulsi in Kittery just to get some ideas for the future. If Jewel of India was located in Portland or Portsmouth, I'd probably give it three stars and not four. But it's in Biddeford, where there isn't as much variety or competition, and it's really nice to have them as an option. I'll be glad to go back to the Jewel of India and I'm sure that I'll enjoy whatever I order, but I think I'll order something to go.

I have never written review before, but signed up for Yelp so I could write this review. This was perhaps one of worst dining experience I have had in my entire life. They serve me spoiled Tandoor Chicken plate (rotten chicken). Worst of all, when I reach out the owner of the restaurant, and inform her politely she replied "the is nothing wrong with chicken". This was infuriating, I will never go back to this restaurant. As result, I paid a food that I did not eat. There is no excuse for serving spoiled food, please stay away from this place.

Stopped in for lunch while headed to Boston, and found this via Yelp! A fairly small place (not as tiny as others have described), but also a real family-run place. The whole family seems to be involved running the restaurant. As for the food, it was absolutely top notch. The papadum with onion and mint chutney was well made and super tasty. The mango chutney looked fresh and homemade, and we polished it off with a delicious (if not fluffy) naan. Everything smelled fragrant and tasted heavenly - and the portions were very generous. Despite needing a new paint job (and an updated look), this is a four star local dining establishment.

I went there 1 time thought the price was way to high for the quality of the food

Though the Tandoori is not the typical Tandoori I have had in many Indian Restaurants, it was very good. Went here for lunch with a co-worker on a heavy snow day, and were the only two people in the place. All dishes were very good, and the service was reasonably quick. If in the area again, I would definitely have no issue eating or recomending this place again.

I signed up for Yelp just so I could write a review of the worst dining experience I have had in recent memory. The food was awful - greasy and tasteless - and took forever to come out. The service was so horrendous - dirty glasses and plates, 75 minutes for our food to come out when there was only one other couple eating. I could spend the next hour writing about everything wrong with this place, but I already feel I wasted two hours of my life dining here, that to waste any more time writing about it, is just not worth it. Stay away!

The Jewel of India is also the jewel of Biddeford. What a pleasant surprise! I love Indian food and I was not disappointed. The restaurant itself is nothing special and it's very small, but the service was quick and the food came out even quicker than that. We ordered the usual nans and different potato breads and I had the chicken vindaloo and it was perfectly spiced and the chicken was delicious. The portions were large and I had lunch the next day! The prices are also reasonable. I would recommend the Jewel to anyone in the Saco/Biddeford area who wants delicious, reasonably priced Indian food for sure.

very surprised to find such a good Indian restaurant in Maine. Had the Lamb rajab ? and it was a revelation. Absolutely phenomenal curry, and their selection of naans and other breads is quite extensive. The price is middle end, expect to pay 15-20 per person. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this restaurant.

Love this place! I haven't been in a couple of years, but was fortunate to stop by for one of there lunch specials. I ordered some sort of veggies in a tomatoey sauce because it was one of only a couple things the waiter indicated were vegan on the luncheon special menu. Delish! I tried chapati bread, which was simple, yet satisfying with my meal. Friendly staff. Fast service. Lunch specials are the best deals. So happy this little jewel is so close to home.

Jewel of India is the best Indian restaurant in Biddeford, wait, there's only one...but still it's an excellent Indian restaurant and in my opinion beats out Hi Bombay! in Portland. They are always very friendly and the food is always piping hot. Since I live just around the corner I always just get take out, but I wouldn't mind sitting in to eat either. I've had a number of items on the menu there and can say that they are all well prepared and delicious. The also have an evening special board that I can highly recommend. For around $11 you get a full meal including soup. I had a wonderful coconut soup which was soothing and delicious. One of my favorite things is walking by and smelling the pungent Indian spices that waft out of the restaurant on a breezy day. Just that alone makes me want to walk right in and sit down!

I have to stop myself from frequenting this Restaurant as much as I do! Jewel of India is the best Indian restaurant that I have been to since my move to the area. The curries, the nans, the lamb is just all superb. I wasn't a fan of chai tea until tasting theirs. I highly recommend!

This was a good restaurant for a quick drop in on a long road trip. The decor was nice, and the variety of bread was incredible. They offered at least a dozen types of delicious breads, and their Paneer Tikka Masala was a good deal, costing only $15. They offer two different types of beer from India, one of them Taj Mahal. The restrooms were definitely second rate, but I didn't mind at all. The wait was reasonable, about fifteen minutes for entrees for a group of five. I wouldn't go back and it wasn't memorable, but I liked it enough.
