The tasting room is open! Judging by the smell of urethane it is brand new. The beer is fresh and served by the owners/brewers. Good stuff! Worth a visit.
The banded horn is awesome! We go in every week or so to have a draft of their super delicious beer and fill our growler! One day we forgot the growler and He let us take one on the honor system! We returned it the next day, and we're so grateful :) they're constantly expanding the tasting room and the brewery, it's so fun to go in and see the progress :) Also I heard Ian took up welding just to build stuff for the brewery which is pretty cool!
My review needs an update. The tasting room is open (currently on Wed and Sat only) and Banded Horn beer is sold all over the Portland area. Last time I was in the tasting room, there were 7 or 8 different kinds of beer available and they were all made on site. If you're into beer, don't miss this local craft brewery.

George's is an institution in Biddeford for more than 60 years and it's because they make the classic Maine Italian (sub) with the freshest ingredients and they are inexpensive. Closed on Mondays, cash only, and sometimes they close early in summer because they run out of bread. Used to be they only offered salami or ham or salami + ham when I was growing up in Boston. (Dad's from Biddeford.) Since they "moved" around the corner a few years back onto Franklin Street, they have other offerings like turkey, roast beef, and tuna salad, but I still stick to the salami basic with extra Greek olives. Nice soft roll, split, with a chopped onion base layer, the fillings of salami, cheese, green pepper, tomato, pickles, with pitted/halved Greek olives on top, then drizzled with olive oil, and dusted with salt & pepper. It's not a "loaded" sub if you are looking for a lot of meat, but a well-balanced Maine Italian without mayo, lettuce, or ingredients that wouldn't keep for a Biddeford/Saco millworker. Did I mention that I grew up in Boston? But George's has become part of my ritual visits to Biddeford...going to Reilly's to pick up napoleons for my Dad & send some to my Connecticut aunt, check out Reny's in Saco, and of course, the beach at Fortunes Rocks. I always get one for me to eat at Fortunes Rocks, and then they offer the subs with oil on the side if you want travelers for home.
Take out only, cash only. I got a Genoa and provolone with no onions, no olives, SPO. It was very good! Fresh bread, fresh veggies, made quickly. Plenty of off street parking. I would highly recommend this place. Weird thing, I'm not sure how I didn't know this was here until today and I've lived in the area (for a while, less than a mile away) and never knew of its existence.
Never a disappointment! Bread and veggies are always fresh, staff is nice, and transactions are quick, even when they're busy! We go to NH a few times a year and always stop at George's for a meal on the road!

Biscuits & Company

PUT YOUR HANDS UP AND GIVE ME ALL THE BISCUITS!!!! I am obsessed with this place. Despite the fact that it is in seedy Biddeford (message me and I will tell you why I get to call it that), this place is a warm and inviting spot of sunshine. The space is open and airy, but still beckons you to come in, get coffee and enjoy the large windows. I like that the coffee is serve yourself and that they have big thick mugs to enjoy it! There is a large family style table in the middle and smaller tables scattered around the restaurant. The food is heavenly. For the southerners out there: this is not meant to be a replica of southern cooking. Instead, it is more of a hipster-cool but not snobby reinterpretation of the original biscuit and gravy concept. Personally, I'm obsessed with Doc's Cure, which is a biscuit, sausage gravy, an egg, and thick sliced bacon. While cruising for a heart attack is my thing, they also have "healthier" options with salmon. What I really enjoyed is how they attempt to accommodate others with food preferences (read: allergies or vegetarians). While I am not a vegetarian, I appreciate the thought process that goes into welcoming everyone. Every time I go, I get a box of biscuits to take home with me and it is always gone in 2 days by the rest of my family. The staff is super friendly, but it is very sincere. Everyone that I have encountered has sincerely wanted you to enjoy your time and have great personalities. The only drawback is it isn't in Portland (maybe this isn't a drawback as I'm pretty sure I would eat here every day if it was) and that they do close somewhat early for my lazy self. FIVE STARS. GO HERE! IT IS WORTH THE DRIVE!!! (maybe walk here so you can burn off all the calories you eat?)
Really good biscuits nice homemade style. Also love the sausage meat. Their blue berry scones are awesome as well.
I have never written a review before for Yelp based on the experience of others, but I have to confess that I have never tasted the food at Biscuits. I'm a Yankee and biscuits just aren't part of my world. I walked into this joint about three times and walked out again each time, uninspired. But everyone was raving about their biscuits and so I took the opportunity when some North Carolina natives came up for lobster and beach. I surprised them with the pulled-pork biscuit sandwich. This is a monstrous huge item with cole slaw on top of the pulled pork, sandwiched between a monstrous huge biscuit. And it was only like $8 or so, real bargain price. So when we were passing around the "lobster rolls" on the beach, surprise surprise, the Southerners got a real Southern-style treat, and they raved about it! Biscuit not too sweet, not too crumbly, and gi-normous. Pulled pork not too sweet, perfectly cooked, not too fatty. Cole slaw on top I guess is the "real Southern deal", that kind of grosses me out, but hey I'm a Yankee. Then I go their plain biscuits which are crazee cheap and served them instead of bread or potatoes at a lobster bake, again for some visitors from the South. They raved about these biscuits! How can a Yankee make biscuits like a Southerner, that can't be a Yankee making those biscuits, yadda yadda yadda, Southerners do like to talk...

Great find! This is diner food is kicked up...they've got it down to an art! Anthony Bourdain kinda place!
They just lost my business over $0.90. Want to know why, then read on. It's 2015 - take debt/credit. I had to leave my family there awkwardly while I went to the nearest ATM which charges $3.50 since I don't bank there. Nope so I then had to travel and find a credit union blocks away. It's not like the food is cheap it's $15 for a quarter cup of potatoes two eggs sausage and some sand dollar pancakes. As a new local I would love to support but will never spend another $0.01. Rant done.
Breakfast is the price of dinner.

Pizza By Alex

93 Alfred St
Biddeford, 04005
Reviews:
I will admit, I am not a native of Biddeford. However, I heard so much about this pizza that I figured we had to try it. I was less than impressed. These small pizzas are just ok, with a very sharp tasting sauce and cheese that simply did not taste like any combination of cheese I have ever had on a pizza that I enjoyed. The other ingredients were just ok. I think this is the kind of pizza that you love if it is what you are used to, but to an outsider, this isn't anything to write home about. To be honest, I would just as rather buy a celeste pizza from the grocery as get Alex's Pizza.
Okay...Let me try and explain the wonder of Pizza By Alex to those who have not tried it. This one restaurant is the primary reason I often go to Biddeford and it's delicious pizza brings me back over and over again. With that said its wonders may not be obvious to everyone. The restaurant looks like it was build in the 40s or 50s with a makeover in the late 1960s and then left unchanged. With the slight addition of a newer oven which most locals don't like as much, the dark wood paneling, the dated photos and older furniture leaves on guessing about the present owners. The style can't be described as "shabby sheek " it is something more like "lost in time." The choice of the menu is limited and the size of the pizza's are uniform, still they have something going...I call it, the value of doing one thing well. Their pizzas are great. I would classify this pizza as Greek style. In New England there are many pizza joints with the name, "House of Pizza" attached to them. These places are generally run by Greek families with Greek salads and Baklava always present. Alex's pizza look similar but do not be confused with the House of Pizza variety. I am not exactly sure what makes theirs better or different but it is a positive difference. The traditional Greek pizzas are usually overly laden with oil..while these are much lighter with a crunchier texture to their crust. I would not say that Pizza by Alex is the best in the Portland area...but it is a specific genre of pizza all to its own...and once tasted people are often hooked ...and find themselves craving to go back. P.S. They don't use credit cards so bring cash.
What a neat little place, my friends and I call it grease by alex.. but very good stuff. One size only and cash only are the only downfalls but it has been around for a long time so the locals love the place.

Que Huong

Reviews:
We found Que Huong on yelp while on vacation in Saco. We love Vietnamese food so we had certain expectations and this place is AWESOME! The pho is the best I've ever had, the spring rolls were so fresh, and my husband and father in law absolutely loves the fried noodle. It's family owned which is always so sweet. They accommodated our group of 5 adults and 2 babies with ease. I wanted to go back so much before we headed home but we ate there on our last night. Now I can only dream about it!
Love love love it here amazing I feel right at home since moving from Boston. I never thought a red neck town like Biddeford would have some class but it does, the owner is so kind and fantastic and warm and welcoming. Her mother and daughter run the tiny restaurant but it's fantastic, amazing pho, mei kantang and bahn xeo. Taste like homemade food like my mom use to make so worth your time to sit down and eat and get away ::) from "Americanized" Asian cuisine around the area. So worth the money the quality is to notch!
I admit to not knowing much about Vietnamese cuisine, but I've had a few very enjoyable meals here to date. What I like about Vietnamese food, at least what I've had here, is that it feels a little lighter on the stomach than Thai or Chinese, and is not greasy in the least. I had to try the Pho on my first visit, and I wasn't disappointed. I got it for takeout, and I like how they package everything separate for the customer to mix at home. everything was flavorful and generously portioned. I had a vermicelli dish on my second visit and I liked that even more - very fresh and tasty vegetables stand out in memory. The appetizers have also been delicious, particularly the shrimp shumai. They have a nice clean dining room. The location is on the main strip through town, before you get to the mills and the active downtown area coming from the direction of Saco. It's not the best position as the surrounding businesses are uninteresting/sketchy/abandoned, so it's easy to drive right on by. Don't. It's worth a stop.

We were a party of four. Plenty of choices to make everyone happy. Service is great attentive & friendly. Clean and comfortable. When we arrive they were very busy. We were immediately greeted, had a short wait to be seated. Everyone was very happy with their food quality & quantity. We had the opportunity to met the owner who was right out there working with his staff. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends. !!!!!
The food portions were amazing and the food was very good, will be going again and again. Loved the atmosphere and felt like a real mainer breakfast. Gets busy on the weekends so show up early but there are shops open to brows through while you wait.
1st time here-Great Rueben Sandwich & great Hamburg club. We will be back. Try it I'm told breakfasts are very good. They close at 2:00 PM. Wasn't sure if they would seat us; we arrived 15 minutes before closing. They took great care of us!

Decent pizza. They will customize your pizzas as you like. Quality ingredients and good prep. Promotions are generally at a good price, but regular menu prices are a bit high. They are the one pizza chain that will deliver out-of-area. Courteous delivery. If they feel they took a bit long delivering, they will send you a coupon for a free medium cheese pizza.

After a long day on the road I finally got checked in my hotel fior the night. Didn't feel like leaving to go for some dinner, so I grabbed the stack of menus at the front desk - I felt like it might be a pizza night. As a frequent traveller on business, I like to stay away from the usual chain offerings and like to seek out the locally-owned joints. Louis Pizza in Biddeford hit a home run with me. From a very pleasant voice answering the phone (I learned her name is Jasmine - very friendly voice and make me feel welcome even if I was doing takeout), to friendly delivery guy - I was impressed with the service. Even better was the pizza!!! Fresh dough not too thick, nor too thin - the toppings were just what I asked for, even my request for "light sauce". As I answered the door for delivery, he said, "wow, this pizza does look good" and he was right!. It tasted as good as it looked. Highly recommend Louis Pizza in Biddeford.
I've seen it spelled Loui's and Louis. I don't know which is right but I like their pizza. They're generous with the toppings, the sauce and cheese are good, and the crust okay. I haven't talked to anybody who doesn't like it and I can see why. The inside has low ceilings, isn't fancy, and is hot because of all the pizza ovens. That makes it a little claustrophobic in the summer but I bet it feels cozy in the winter. I could see this becoming our regular pizza place & I'll let you know how that turns out.
The actual restaurant doesn't look so hot on the inside, the food is pretty good, portions are good sizes, but they always mess my orders up. I'm allergic to mushrooms (and regardless, they're disgusting) and when I order my steak bomb I ask for it without, then have them repeat the order back to me, "steak bomb no mushrooms." I always get the food delivered, and the delivery person is obviously gone by the time you start opening your food up, several times I've sadly had to give my sandwich away because it is impregnated with mushrooms... So disappointing. That's why I haven't eaten their food in quite some time. I'll stick with people that actually listen.
