So excited to see authentic Pho in the Bangor area! Not too salty with a deep beef flavor - served with traditional accompaniments. Will be back for more!

Really nice place somewhat hidden from the Hogan Road. New signage will help people find this little gem in the rough restaurant. When I entered staff member greeted me and seated me quickly, staff was very attentive and friendly. Food was served in a timely manner, warm and fresh. Pho, tom yum and their version of pad thai was really excellent. Size of dishes were very filling and had to bring home the extras.

Oh goodness where do I start?! We went here with two friends that live nearby. I had read the hilarious reviews in advance (actually they served as comedic relief on the ride into ME). Still wanted to take the chance and try it. My two local friends told me they were friends with the owner so I thought, how bad could it be? When we walk in, there is literally NO ONE in the restaurant on a Friday night. So the waiter makes a joke about that and we pick a table in the corner. The decor of this place is confusing - modern and rustic. The best part being the wall of tree trunks and the crystal chandelier. He sets four place settings and I go to move the silver ware wrapped and the soup spoon falls out. The waiter remarks that happens all the time? What???? So I awkwardly apologize. He pretty much whined that we came in because he wanted to go home. We ordered wings to start. This is the only reason to go here. We got the garlic romance and salt and pepper. They were low quality chicken but deep fried so well. I really enjoyed the seasoning. The drink menu was so offensive - Pearl Harbor? Nuff said. Our friends came and we all ordered. We got pho and vermicelli with pork. Neither were that great. Spoiled too much in Boston and providence. I ate four bites of my vermicelli but couldn't tell the owner that I didn't like it (I didn't have the heart to) when he came over and socialized with us. He gave us a round of Sapporo on the house which was sweet. That didn't make up for the less than mediocre entrees. Lesson: go here for beer and wings!

I am quite the fan of Vietnamese food so was so excited to visit Bangor and give it a try, but it was such a disappointing experience. My overall impression: watered down and cheap First off, it was boiling hot in the restaurant, the waitress didn't address the issue, just commiserated. We ordered several appetizers. The papaya salad is supposed to be sweet & spicy, but it was just spicy. And a ridiculous $12. The chicken satay had no peanut taste to it. The summer rolls were ok but decidedly "missing something" I ordered a Thai tea boba which tasted watered down and the boba has no flavor. My husband and I got the beef pho. It was ok but we got a tiny sprig of basil and the siracha and hoisin are supposed to be thicker, we suspect they were watered down. My friend got the parang curry. She had never had it before and thought it was ok. I tried it and almost spit it out. The curry looked like gravy and was not the right color. And it was totally bland. My other friend liked his fried rice but get this... He had over half a big plate left. The waitress packaged it up and when he went to open it up at home, there were only 2 spoonfuls plus some shrimp chips. Did the waitress drop it? Did they take some back to recycle it? Ridiculous Overall: bland, watered down, over priced, hot, and stole our food

Not a bad little Vietnamese place for the area. Beautiful decor inside. Service is indeed a bit slow -- don't go in if you're in a hurry. Seems to usually only be one or two servers running the floor. Food is decent and reasonably priced. I ordered the curry chicken panay and was disappointed that it wasn't at all spicy in the slightest. I'd get it again, but ask them to crank up the heat a bit.

Little Vietnam is probably not for everyone, but I love it. The best way to describe it is if a 1950's diner was put in the Hadron collider with a Vietnamese noodle house and a hipster restaurant, this is what you'd get. Be prepared for idiosyncrasies, great pho, the best wings in town (so many flavors, wet and dry!), occasionally slow service, very often friendly-and-conversational service (the kind where the son-waiter heckles you about wing flavors, and the daughter-waitress gives you good-natured crap about not finishing your pho), a guy sleeping in a booth in the corner when it's slow, recommendations that you try some random family delicacy, being the only people there, nice decor, and strong drinks. Once you know what to expect, and you can roll with the punches, Little Vietnam will be one of your favorite places in Bangor. Come with the right attitude, the right expectations, and an empty stomach, and you'll do just fine. And get the pho. Really. Forget the rest of the menu (except wings, and the curry is quite good) and pretend it's a pho-and-wing-shop run by a crazy family, and don't go right before you have to be at a movie.

I had such a poor experience here I had tried to forget about it. I would discourage everyone from this place. Frightening food and even more scary service! New to the area (yes, flatlanders here), we were hoping to find a decent Vietnamese restaurant. The yelp reviews were mixed, not horrible, so we thought we'd give Little Vietnam a try. It was an empty restaurant, I ordered a pork chop and rice, and received about 2 ounces of shaved pork on a plate with a softball sized mound of white rice next to it. I felt the tears welling up in my eyes at the sad and wee size of my protein. I just couldn't stomach it for 15 dollars. Without a bite taken off my plate, I called the waitress over and requested to send back the meal and explained it was too small and cold. She snatched it away and came back later and asked my husband about his meal. I asked to order the pho soup. She told me I would be charged for the pork chop meal and the pho soup. Astounded, I reminded her she removed the meal from me after I complained about the portion size. How could I pay for something I didn't eat and that she took away from me? She was pushy and challenging to communicate with. She spoke perfect English she is just not the sharpest tool in the shed. She told me I would be charged for the meal since I ordered it. I explained the portion was pitiful, and that we would be paying for my husbands meal but not mine. (My husband btw was quite saddened with his meal, but he is very non-confrontational and didn't want to "feed the fire") At one point the waitress presented a phone to me and told me talk to the manager (whom she had been yelling back and forth with on the phone), and said that I would have to talk to the manager to convince her to take the uneaten pork chop off my bill. Unbelievable. We stood up, dropped enough cash on the table to cover my husbands meal and our drinks, and walked out.

I ordered up the Pho here. It was delicious. I had the vegetarian one. The service was good and the decor was relaxing. I am glad to see places like this in Bangor.

I'll give this place 1 star because their Pho is excellent. But after witnessing how unprofessionally management treats their employees- with disrespect & insults- I can no longer recommend this restaurant, nor will I order from them again! There was ONE girl working the bar & entire restaurant for dinner- I counted about 7 tables. There was no way this girl could keep up, and she let the manager (whom I suspect is the owner, as well) know that she had no idea how to make cocktails & she received no assistance. Yet, management had the audacity to approach me & announced out loud, "she's so slow!" When he could have done something to help her, himself! I felt terrible for the poor girl.

The food was good, certainly not the best food I've had but it was good. However the service left a lot to be desired. While the waitress admitted she had only been working for a couple weeks, she had to look at our menu every time one of us ordered. The food came out one at a time, every 10 minutes or so and she was not back at the table again for anything. It wasn't busy, there was only one other table seated. We had to hunt her down in the back to get utensils and then again for the check. So she's new, if we cut her slack for that, then we can't cut the management slack for putting someone on the floor with zero training and no help. I don't know if we will be back. It just wasn't worth the wait and it looks like we aren't the only customers who feel this way.

Pretty good pho for Bangor area! Portions are small though. Veggie side dish lacked size and substance for my pho. Would return only if in the area. Interesting wing menu and fun naming each portion by game periods...would like to try next time.

Pretty satisfying Vietnamese food for the area! Try their pho, they make a good broth, not too salty, and tastes the way it should. Service is pretty slow and there's random trash throughout the restaurant sometimes, but overall I'd go again and make this my spot for pho.

Went for the first time. The food was good. Portions good. However the service has a lot of kinks. It was slow. I got my plate 8 minutes before my wife. Didn't get what I ordered. May come back later, may not. Maybe next time they won't have to go to Ho Chi Min city for the chicken.

If you have a long time to wait for food, tea, or even utensils than this is your spot. Never did I think that it would take over 25 minutes to get a cup of warm tea. Once our appetizers did finally arrive we had to ask 2 waiters for utensils to eat the apps. An hour into our visit just one plate comes out. Still waiting for my dish, having been told there are power issues in the kitchen. We had a movie date planned but now have missed that because the service is just incredibly slow. This is our third and unfortunately final time giving this restaurant a try. The fried tofu tasted like it had been frozen. You know the freezer burn taste when it hits your tongue. The banh xeo was ice cold and soggy. I had high hopes for this place as we love love love Vietnamese food and have traveled throughout and have eaten amazing Vietnamese food. I wish it was better here. I really do. So now we've missed our movie and are still hungry. We just couldn't keep eating.

Okay, been here several times. I've eaten Vietnamese cuisine in NY, FL, and across Europe. I can gladly say that I haven't had a bad meal yet at this place. The first time visiting, I had to have the Pho. It didn't come out right, order was messed up but still worth another visit. I came back with the family and so glad I did. Presentation and food was great. Over our visits, we've had the appetizer sampler, shrimp tempura, chicken fingers, torpedo shrimp, Pho-signature bowl, curry, sizzling crepes, the LV fried rice, and the Mi Xao Kho-soft and fried noodles. Everyone loved everything. Now, for the down side, it does take a long time to get served. The kid serving ended up apologizing a lot, not only to us but all the other tables around, for things not being just right. Don't go if you have a buffet in mind but the portions were great. There are cooking for the community so things are not as hot (spicy) as they could or should be but you can ask them to kick it up a notch but be careful because they will kick it up, a LOT. When asking for Pho, as for extra cilantro, peppers, etc and they'll bring it out. The biggest down is the wait but it's worth it. This is a place around here we need to support and keep around.

Vietnamese food is one of my favorite cuisines so I really want to love this place, but it's not there yet. I have been twice since they opened and they are still working out the kinks, so I'll keep trying. The Pho is delicious, no complaints there, but I am very disappointed in the Banh Mi sandwiches. Both times I got one, there was hardly any filling in it so it left me disappointed and hungry.

We really like it here. It's not a chain and that's so refreshing around the mall. We've had their pho, pad thai, lemongrass chicken . . the food is very good and they really want you to be happy with it.

We went there today for the first time. Server was friendly, asked if we'd eaten Vietnamese food before and then if we'd been there. Food was very good. After we started with our main dish, the owner came out to see how we were doing. Later, another came by to ensure that we were happy. After reading the prior reviews it is clear that they are trying to address customer's concerns. We enjoyed our lunch and will be back. After trying several places in the area for 'Padthai' - the others were just ok. Little Vietnam's clearly was fresh and delicious. We will be back.
