Great place for a date. They have a very diverse and extensive menu, the dishes we ordered were very good. I'm looking forward to going back to try more.

The fish used in the sushi was fresh, the service was friendly, and the crab Rangoon's were out of this world :) I personally didn't care for the sauce used to dip the pan fried dumplings in. Other then that- everything was perfect :) it was my moms birthday so the waiter talked to the boss and he got her 50% off of her meal!! The green tea is a really good touch to the meal too.

We were actually pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I didn't really have high expectations for this being in Bangor and in a mall area. I give them props for presentation. We ordered pineapple fried rice, crab rangoon, and the green tea roll. The food not only looked good, but it tasted delicious too. We raved about the fried rice. The roll was not bad; I may be giving it more credit because of the beautiful presentation. All in all a good meal and I didn't think it was super pricey.

Pretty bummed about my experience tonight. This rating is purely based on rude service on a to go. I always order here and use the great coupons they offer online. Online system was down so I had to call and was treated so poorly I'm even mad I came to pick up the food and didn't take my business somewhere else. They wouldn't honor coupon because order wasn't done online! They were pretty obnoxious. I have always had a good experience here it tonight I'm yelping their asses after treating a regular customer who buys $75 in sushi VERY POORLY!

Good selection of sushi. They also have a Chinese menu. Friendly service, great sushi bar, nice food selection, and ample parking. No complaints here.

Worst service ever. It took two and a half hours to get our food. There were no utensils on the table. Everyone in our party ran out of water in their glasses long before the waitress came to refill them. Not to complain about the waitress because it was clear that the management was at fault as they were very under staffed. No soy sauce with the sushi either... Never coming back.

Every time I come to Bangor, green tea is my first stop. The out of control roll is one if the best sushi rolls I have ever eaten and iv had sushi all over the country.

Very nice establishment, my wife and I ordered the sushi deluxe and two special orders of rolls, lobster and rainbow. The rolls were easily the largest rolls we've ever had. Fresh and tasty! Our daughter ordered both rhe chicken fried rice and General Tso's chicken. Large portions of both and she now has leftovers for a couple days at school! Highly recommend!

This is the worst service ever-- taking forever to get drinks and appetizers so forget about entrees. It's notes if the place is even busy-- would not come here again.

While still remaining one of the priciest spots for Sushi in the Bangor area, their updated decor really makes for the experience. I was really floored when I came in saw how much it had changed. The environment really makes it worth it. I'd give them four and a half if I could. If you're still looking to pinch some pennies though, sundays are still buy one get one half off last I knew.

If you are looking for a 5 star amazing sushi experience that you may get in a big city like New York or Beantown, then you need to stay clear from the Green Tea restaurant. If you are looking for a place that serves a variety of asian cuisine including some fresh sushi and an eclectic variety of combo plates for good valued pricing, then you need to try this establishment. In the Bangor area, you will find a few different restaurants with an asian decor and theme, but this one is the best of the bunch for freshness and timely service. They have recently gone through some changes in their decor and layout and even though it dampered the experience while they were renovating, it is coming together now. They have really made the accomodations for a cozy, romantic date night a real treat and a must see. As for larger parties, I dont know, it is tougher that they have placed the big tables right outside of the bathroom area and really seperated the larger parties from any of the rest of the good experience of the restaurant. They also have a very nice bar area to sit around the sushi area but the problem is that on the flat screen tv's the last two times that I have brought guests in for lunch, it was showing people's court and some fighting housewives show. If you want a good place to go to get some good sushi and some delicious warm green tea in small town Maine, then you need to give the Green Tea an attempt!

Absolutely delicious! Freshly cooked also! The calamari was the best I've ever had and the dragon roll was awesome. The only reason why it's not five stars is because of the service. The waiter took forever to take our order..and did not refill our drinks. I actually had to look for him to tell him we wanted dessert. One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a waiter..but the food was great.

Probably one of my favorite places in Bangor to eat. My first experience was amazing. Our sushi was taking a little long to come out and the waiter came and gave us an appetizer free of charge and with out asking. Our wait really wasn't that long either, we were probably only waiting for 20 minutes. Every time i've been back the experience is just better and better. They also do take out which I have taken advantage of on numerous occasions.

Not bad! Generous portions for fish for the Nigiri sushi but the rice tasted a little strange. Green tea was also very good.

Oh so good sushi!!! Had the spicy seaweed salad, Summer Roll and the Spicy Tuna Naruto. Love the atmosphere here. My little one discovered the joys of the spicy tuna maki roll. Ahhhh, a foodie in the making. :)

REALLY good sushi. Looks beautiful inside since the new owners took over. But service is so terrible it makes you think you're on Pranked! It's worth it though.

I ordered one of the Lunch Sushi specials. Too bad they did not allow any substitutions. My salad was good, but a bit watery. The sushi was good, but not great. All in all, given that I'm in Bangor, I'm satisfied and will probably come back when I'm in town again. The atmosphere/decor/cleanliness is alright. It is definitely nicer than some Japanese Restaurants I have been to. The service wasn't spectacular. I ran out of water and had to flag down a different waitress because mine was nowhere to be found. This could be simply because I was there just a little after lunch and the place was nearly empty.

Green Tea serves Chinese and Japanese food, and everything I have tried there so far has been really good. My only complaint with the food is that they put anise in some of the food (particularly the fried rice) so it will occasionally taste like black licorice which I loathe.

just went again tonight... AMAZING! The best food and the BEST service! My only complaint is the prices! VERY expensive and it seems the prices have been raised since this summer : ( Buy one special roll get one half price on Sundays (eat in only) is the best deal since these rolls range in price from 9-14$ and you need two rolls for a meal. Please Green Tea.... offer more specials and deals on your sushi... esp on weekdays! Oh and PLEASE get a delivery service! I would love to order from you guys at work!

Harbored inside the old Sizzler restaurant you will find this altar to authentically-bastardized Asian cuisine. Sushi came plated on a gigantic banquet platter covered with at least three whole sliced lemons which barely fit on the table. My maguro roll featured gritty bits on an unknown substance in the overcooked mushy rice. The dogtailed nori was a clear sign that these were cut with a dull knife. The salmon on the nigiri was "sweating" signifying improper storage procedures. This fabulously disgusting meal was ended with cheap, sub-par industrial quality green tea ice cream splattered with "cool-whip" and rainbow sprinkles. oh joy... I have not since returned and do not plan any future visits at this time. Don't waste your time with this place, if you want sushi in Bangor, stick with Ichiban.

Where I go on all my dates!! My favorite restaurant in Bangor. There are only two Japanese restaurants in Bangor and this one is the best. It serves both Japanese and Chinese food, which is great for my friends who are weary of sushi. The decor is amazing, some of the employees wear robs and most are Asian which thick accents (so you know it's legit). Big restaurant with private rooms available for parties. Service is pretty good, sometimes there are not enough servers to handle all the tables, but we usually never wait for a table. Tuna tataki and a (generous portion) of seaweed salad are what I always start with. The Green Tea roll, Spicy Girl Roll and the Downeast roll (with lobster) are my favorites. Their nigiri and sashimi are HUGE portions (by sushi standards). They also have special rolls for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc. Be sure to ask what special items they have. Many times they have sea urchin or scallop but because they are not always available, they are not on the menu. They have a full bar too, but I've"ve never tried anything; too focused on the sushi :-) Can't leave without having a fried banana! Be aware: I heard one time that it was Asian culture to serve customers their food as soon as it was ready, instead of waiting for everyone at the table's food was ready before bringing it out. This has happened to me once here. My friend ordered some General Tso's from the Chinese menu, and the rest of us ordered rolls. My friend got his food way before we did.

Great atmosphere. Has a decent sushi bar, and offers a pretty wide range of food offerings. I had a stir-fried veggies in garlic sauce as well as a Maine Roll from the sushi bar. Both were very good. Nice ambience, great service, food presentation and taste - a pleasant surprise for a relatively small town of Bangor!

Two stars only because the atmosphere is lovely and food was well prepared by the sushi chef. Not the best sushi I ever had by any stretch, but you can't expect authentic Japanese food in Bangor, ME. Service was ridiculously slow despite the place being nearly empty. My server made me wait about fifteen minutes to just order a beverage while she hung around the sushi bar shooting the breeze with some guy Top part of this photo is the "tuna lover" which I ordered. This huge photo is displayed on a stand at the entrance. Bottom part is what arrived to my table. Server said "yeah, the tuna lover just looks a little different from the picture *shrug*"

The Udon is good, the service is nice. but the Chinese food is bad, just like those take out restaurant. Not recommended if you want to eat Chinese food there.

What a cute place! The staff was friendly and provided great service. Presentation, quality, and taste of the food was fantastic. Not to mention, the sushi was fresh. I ordered the eel sashimi and Iron Man Roll.

Best Chinese food in all of Maine. Green Tea offers a great selection of near authentic Chinese food. Green tea will not disappoint you!

My SO and I were thinking of going to Ichiban but decided to give Green Tea a spin since we'd never been. What a mistake. I ordered the bubble tea, spicy wasabi tuna roll, and the bento box with beef donburi and a spicy kani roll. She ordered miso soup, the avocado-stuffed salmon appetizer, and a rainbow roll. We waited for ages, while the waiter kept interrupting our hand-holding to top off our barely-sipped water glasses with the odd disclaimer "You think it's not worth it, but it's worth it". After probably 25 minutes, the stuffed salmon appetizer came out, as well as my bento box. There was no sign of the bubble tea, the miso soup, the rainbow roll, or my wasabi tuna roll. We took one bite and decided to sit and wait for our drink and soup. After another half-hour of waiting, each of our roll orders came out (on the same plate) and we decided we couldn't wait to eat anymore. The next time the waiter walked by, we asked for the soup. He was right back with miso, but still no bubble tea. This was over an hour after we initially ordered. All this rigamarole gave me plenty of time to reflect on the food. The salad in the bento box was just iceberg lettuce in peanut sauce. The spicy kani (crab) roll was decent but small. The Gyu Don (beef) donburi was heavy on rice and light on beef compared to what I've had elsewhere, and I couldn't see any noodles in it like the menu mentioned. The wasabi tuna roll was excellent but small, and my bubble tea- well, it didn't exist. My SO said that The rainbow roll didn't taste fresh and that Hannaford sushi was better. Another waitress came by and asked if we wanted dessert, but we decided we just wanted a check at that point. Our original waiter (Ryan) came back with the check, which included the bubble tea we never got. I told him we didn't want it anymore. I could have ignored the iffyness of the food if the service was good. I could have had a good time if the waiter had put as much energy into getting us what we had ordered as he did filling our water glasses. Instead, we felt had and jerked-around. I am generally a handsome tipper, and this was the first time in my life I've tipped under 20%. I'm never coming back.

I love this restaurant for their sushi. If you enjoy the real thing their sashimi is excellent. Their selection of Chinese foods as well as the Japanese makes it a great place to go, even with people who don't like sushi! If you call ahead for take out, ur food will be ready and beautifully prepared in 20 minutes or less! *Please note: This restaurant is extremely popular on Mother's day and other holidays so be prepared for a long wait!

We usually get Japanese food but the Chinese food is excellent as well. This is our favorite restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and fast. The prices are reasonable. The variety is great too. I really can't say enough good things. Mmmmmm!!! Love it!!!!

I have had better Chinese food at the food courts in the malls. The service was great. Don't go here to dine the atmosphere is kinking. Looks like someone decorated their yard for an oriental theme party. They play the same annoying loop of funky Asian music. Plastic plants & bamboo and the whole nine yards. Food wasn't bad but it wasn't good. I would not return.

Great Sushi and a pretty good price. I did not try any of the entrees so my review cannot be very complete. Good service. The decor was fun and pleasing.

Oriental Jade may have the best Chinese selection in Bangor, but if you pass up on Green Tea for Chinese or Japanese, you're doing yourself an injustice. The sushi is fantastic, better than Yoshi IMHO. They have a great selection of Japanese and Chinese, and great atmosphere. If you like a little zing, you must get the wasabi shumai!

This is my favorite place to eat in Bangor. My boyfriend and I typically eat here twice per month. We usually get the Sushi Regular, which offers a combination of nigiri and a tuna roll. In addition we typically chose something else from the al a carte menu. The combination platter also provides a salad or miso soup. The dressing on the salad is delicious. I have never tried the miso soup here. We can usually eat there under $30 if we don't order drinks. The staff is very nice and the atmosphere is very comfortable and inviting. I also like that the menu offers a chinese selection. This way we can invite others to come with us and we know they can eat chinese in case they don't like sushi. Compared to Ichiban, I prefer Green Tea. The food is just as good, but the prices are better. And there is very little wait time for the meals and seating is always available.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
