I took a friend for lunch today for our first visit. We both got lunch specials. My friend is a vegetarian & asked for a recommendation. Our server was very helpful and offered to make one of their signature chicken dishes with tofu instead. I ordered the broccoli & beef. I got egg drop soup which was delicious & my friend got the wonton soup which, as pictured, was quite full of fresh ingredients. Our meals were brought to the table quickly, I was impressed! As we were eating I bit into something very hard. I hadn't even said anything & our server was by my side asking me what happened. I told her & she immediately took the plate to the kitchen. A few minutes later she returned & explained/showed me it was undercooked rice. She was very apologetic & not at all snarky. She also brought me a new plate & even added some barbecue chicken. I must say it was delicious! Just enough smokey flavor & juicy too! When the check came she had taken my meal off the bill. Even with the undercooked rice incident, I am definitely planning on returning! Good food & even better hospitality!

It used to be owned by Christine who I hear was amazing so we wanted to try it. We didn't realize that she sold it and now only owns China Garden in Orono (I wish we knew and went there). The food was meh- oily and just not that good. The main thing that I found very odd was that our dishes (vegetable delight and sesame tofu) came without rice. When we asked about it we were told we didn't order rice. I have never been in a place that serve you your dish (non noodle dish) and doesn't serve rice with it. We then ordered rice and charged for it. Weird. To add to that my sesame tofu had no sesame seeds...

Large reasonably priced menu with many vegetarian & vegan options! I recommend the sesame tofu. Slightly off the beaten path and a bit dive-y, edging on artsy (brick walls, intricate black ceiling, wainscoting, nice photographs and artwork, but there's also a fluorescent Bud Light sign in the front window...). So if you can see beyond that, it's worth a stop when you're in the Bangor area - particularly as a vegetarian. Of note: Dinner was not served with rice. More info: Owner is a vegetarian and extremely accommodating to dietary needs - she's asked us right away if anyone at our table had allergies or sensitivities. Our entire meal was all made-to-order.

We went there based on the reviews, but the food and service were terrible. Parents beware: small kids are not made to feel welcome, and don't drop the chopsticks on the floor: you'll be in for a scolding from the female owner. Also, the food was poor: the veggie delight had no flavor, and the General Tsao was all bread and no chicken.

Best Chinese in Bangor! Under new ownership. They've added some Thai and Vietnamese dishes. All the food is made daily and fresh. Amy and her husband are lovely, so friendly, you feel right at home. Make sure to try the wonton soup. Just the right amount of fresh veggies.

I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. It's out of the way (that's a plus, the traffic around every other franchised eatery in this town is utter nonsense), it's quiet and the food is phenomenal! Most of the "chinese" restaurants here use the same run-of-the-mill ingredients.......goopy, sugary sauces, frozen, breaded chicken and frozen vegetables. EVERYTHING here is fresh. Vegetables prepped by hand. Fresh meats in every dish, hand breaded (when the dish calls for it) and wok-fried. They also put a Pad Thai dish on their menu that's to die for. Full bar, amazing food and the friendliest waitress in Bangor makes Chopsticks the go-to place in the Bangor area. Reasonably priced and something for everyone! Lots of vegetarian dishes too!!

I've been eating at Christine's restaurants for years and I didn't think it could get better. Christine has passed this restaurant off to her long time cook. And WOW ! He has punched up the menu. He is bringing in his multi-Asian cultural family recipes. There are dishes I've never seen or tasted before. His pad Thai has a whole different wonderful taste. It will be his restaurant in a couple of weeks. Until then, ask for his new menu and enjoy.

I saw all these positive Yelp reviews and sadly Chopsticks was a let down. We figured that Maine would not be able to do Mexican but thought it could handle Chinese. We were wrong. The food was all very bland and flavorless (aside from the sesame chicken) and our server was not attentive at all. Heck, the menu even says there is MSG in the food and that couldn't even bring out the flavor. The only really good thing about the experience was the fact that there was a random bluegrass family band was playing in the room we were in. They were wonderful!

I'm impressed. Good food for a great price! My sister lives in the neighborhood so we walked over, picked it up the take out and walked home. You can eat in as well, there's a few tables and booths, not a bad little set up. The lunch menu is a good option, cheaper than some of the regular items, plus you get pork fried rice and a choice of an appetizer or soup. My sister told me there's a new cook who can cook special orders if it's not on the menu. The menu does state that they add MSG to their meals, but you can order without. I like this idea very much! I definitely will be returning when I'm at my sister's house again. My only slightly negative opinion is the egg drop soup didn't taste like what I'm used to, but still good none the less.

My favorite Chinese place of all time!! The owner is health conscious & very accommodating to dietary needs. Many options on the menu & food is delicious!! You can tell these people take pride in their restaurant. Decor is a bit awkward but not overly distracting.

Come for the food, but you'll keep coming back for the hospitality. I have never had a bad thing here. Everything is really well seasoned and prepared with care. My absolute favorite thing is the Spicy Shrimp! They are delicately fried in a very light batter and tossed with some veggies. They are so incredibly addictive!! I would also recommend their ginger sauce!! I put it on EVERYTHING!!! The staff here are extremely personable and will remember you every time you come back. Oh and don't forget to grab a Mai Thai or Scorpion Bowl!! Chopsticks is also known for cooking something special just for you based on your likes and dislikes so BE BRAVE! BE BOLD!

I've been looking forward for a long time and the first visit happens on the Fourth of July. Maybe this is part of the reasons why. A long three day holiday (for many four days), Saturday, Sunday and of course, Monday the Fourth. So, Tuesday Chopsticks is closed Tuesdays. The restaurant was slow and the owner was running the show, going through the motions. I don't know, maybe she's was just tired. I won't get into our food choices (is it my fault?) received, I'm just bummed and a little sad. We'll be giving Chopsticks another roll though.

We found this place via yelp while passing through Bangor. Wow, it was awesome! We eat "american chinese food" on a very regular basis, this was some of the best we've had in ages. The hot & sour soup was some of the best my wife has ever had, real pepper flakes in it, serious heat. The garlic sauce had a great flavor, and actually had garlic pieces in it. They had brown rice (whole grain, not fried), even though i didn't see it on menu... very glad I asked! It was perfect chopstick texture, not undercooked like a lot of places that assume you are using fork and spoon to eat it. My beef and pea pods was exactly what it should have been. Tender beef that actually tasted like beef, not drowning in brown sauce. The pea pods were crispy and flavorful, not wilted or mushy. Ginger ice cream to finish off with... too good to resist! Very friendly staff, obviously popular with the locals, many knew both the server and the chef by name when they came out. I think we saw the chef at least a couple times while eating, she delivered some of the plates when a large table ordered, and stopped by to check on how everything was instead of just going back to the kitchen. If we were locals, or in the area again, we would certainly stop by. There were a number of items on the menu that sounded good, or looked good when they went by to other tables.

The worst Chinese food I've ever eaten and I've eaten all over the world. This is NOT authentic Chinese food as the owner claims in her promo. It's pure crap. The meat is rank. Even the tea tastes badAnd when you screw up white rice, you're so lame you don't deserve a single star in your rating but i have to give one to use this program. Eat here at your own peril!

Chopsticks is some of the best chinese food in Bangor. They deliver, but if you live within a half-mile of them and order there often, they will learn your name and yell at you for being lazy (in a friendly way) if regularly request delivery. It is also inexpensive. Chopsticks is one of the few places where you can get non-greasy chinese food in Bangor. I personally don't like chinese food, so only giving it 4 stars may be under-rating it. It is certainly far better than Oriental Jade.

Dumplings and spring rolls are fantastic, owner takes a personal interest in her customers and the food is beyond just good for the region, it is great period.

Very good Chinese in Bangor. A little out of the way so not too many people know about it - and the neighborhood isn't the best in town (safe enough, but you're not going to want to take a stroll before or after your meal). The owner (Christine) is great to have as a resource if you want to try something new. You can tell her what you feel like having and trust her - she'll bring you something you'll be satisfied with. We often order off the menu this way. "Hmm... I'm feeling like I want something light tonight. Any suggestions?" Christine: "I know what to bring you." And she does. Fast service too.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
