Excellent experience. We were looking for wood fired pizza and wound up with a terrific pizza, mussels, oysters and tacos! Great beer selection. Friendly and attentive service. Staff accommodated our request to move inside as temperatures dropped and we were cold. Our food was hot and fresh, our server was cool and very sharp. A much better than average joint!

Great, great beer selection, although the night we were there, the weather was hot outside, so the dining area was hot as well, Our beer didn't stay cold very long. Hard to decide on what to have, but both of our burgers were stupendous. Dessertsare always good and the choices vary. Definitely one of our go to places in Bangor! Only issue was how hot it was inside, it is okay to crank up the AC!!

Beer selection was first rate with 50 on tap options. Very supportive of local breweries. Food selection and preparation was awesome. Burgers were great ( with the options of beef, duck, veggie. Fries cooked in duck fat were great Our next visit we ordered pizza and it was also excellent. Service was very good. See Jake behind the bar for any questions Very good stop on the way to the airport.

Easy to get in even though it was a busy night, we got a table right away. The wait staff was not properly dressed in my opinion, a little too casual for the scene. They did serve us quickly though, but delivered the wrong food. My son ordered a 12" pizza with tomato sauce, cheese, and pepperoni, but got a pizza with no tomato sauce. He was too hungry to send it back, and they messed up the receipt, charging us twice for "Ricotta Cheese" when there was no such thing on the pizza. My $28 ribeye ordered medium rare came out rare and cold and without flavor. I sent it back, they should have cooked me a new one but instead scraped off the bacon jam and cooked it some more. The "sweet potato gratin" was damn near raw sweet potato, but the greens were good. Also, although the beer menu is huge, all the beer is amazingly expensive and served in very small glasses. I wouldn't come here to drink. If I return I'd stick to a burger or one of the paninis. They can't screw that up, can they?

Let's begin by saying, I would try this place again. Started with the French fries cooked in duck fat. Maybe a slightly more moist interior with a crispy outside (or it could have been the timing of the frying) and maybe a slightly more buttery flavor. Nothing amazing, they were fries. I ordered the fig & prosciutto w/drizzled ricotta. It was yummy, but there was too much ham which made the slices too salty. There wasn't a drizzle, but a full presence of ricotta. Hmm, there were sliced figs which there was suppose to be, but it was like eating sliced figs on top of my pizza, meaning the the toppings didn't blend together. I took a bite and it was a bite of ham, I took another bite and it was warm ricotta, took another bite and got crunchy fig. I felt too much toppings when a little could go a longer way.

We were in Bangor for one night and cane here on the recommendation of our hotel...mistake... The staff was friendly and we were seated quickly. They ran out of the beer we were drinking after the second glass, and the place wasn't really busy. We ordered two ponds of wings ($18) and they were really good. I ordered the NY strip steak, medium rare with green beans and mashed ($28). I got a NY strip, medium, with mashed and asparagus. I asked for the green beans and was told the ran out (they apparently decided what I would eat for me after that). I then asked for fries. The steak and potatoes were bland, this is the first time ever I had to add salt and pepper to a steak in a restaurant. Overall, I would say this place is not worth the money ($200 for 4 adults).

Oysters very good, Blazerita excellent (both of them!). Have been here several times and enjoyed the food. Service is always a little below the level of the vittles and tonight, asking for a glad of water 3 times, was not an exception. Strangely, didn't have any non-ice cream desserts tonight and went to a different restaurant to get them.

I quite adore this place! Twice I've had dinner at one of the tables, and once at the bar. Each time the service was great, the food was delicious, and they are open late, which I really appreciate! They're also one of the few places downtown that's open late where you can sit and have a conversation, if you're not feeling like live music that day. They have a terrific draft selection, including Lindemann's Framboise on tap! Their pizzas are terrific, and more than enough for one person to end up with leftovers. They also have a milkshake special, and it's always fun to see what the chef will create. The general manager and I had a great conversation, and he is super knowledgeable and friendly. A great addition to downtown Bangor!

The beet salad was very good it just had too much vinegar! I had a pizza that BYO type it was! Had chicken, olive, tomato! With gluten free crust! It was very good! Service was good, they were so busy so it was slow but very friendly and charming!

Sat at the bar here for a meal alone. The barkeeps were all so friendly and nice! They had great beer suggestions from their vast list of craft brews. The one I got I loved. Then the food, had delicious fries to start with a great Sriracha aioli sauce that they suggested. Then I had the chorizo manzana pizza that was absolutely delicious. Would I come back here?, in a heart beat. The whole menu sounded delicious, wish I had room for more...the fried ice cream was calling my name but I just had to walk away. Next time!!!

Appalachia burger (with extra pulled pork), duck fat fries, and blazearita (a margarita with jalapeño infused tequila). Excellent. One of my favorite meals in downtown!

I'm not sure where to rank this review. 2 seems almost unfair but 3 seems too much. Pro: The food was excellent. I had the blaze burger and food quality goes down as a 4 or 5 easily. Great execution and I loved it. The same goes for the rest of the food at the table. The problem was.. just about everything else... Cons: 1. Patio has limited umbrellas, I saw 2-3 some shared between neighboring patios? I wanted a patio seat at 1pm, but with no shade, I scorched in the full summer sun about 10 min before I had to move inside. 2. Severely understaffed. This is the root cause of the rest of my complaints. The server was extremely polite and friendly... when we saw her, which was virtually never. It took way too long to get menus, get an order, or anything else. I asked for the beer menu and waited 30 min for it. When I got the drink menu, it was another 10+ to get a drink. We asked for some extra napkins, they never came. Over and over the service failed. Obviously the girl had too much to on her plate and this ruined every aspect of the experience. 3. Like great beer and selection? Me too... like over priced beer? not me! The menu prices don't seem to bad until you see the average pour is 6oz. I was hopeful to try some great beers, but at $6 for a 6oz glasses, that's robbery even at the best beer bars I've ever been at.

Just awesome! I had tasty beet salad to start, a blaze burger (subbed the meat with a Hand made quinoa patty that was done perfectly) with duck fat fries, and some fried ice cream for dessert. Tremendous flavors all around. Super impressed with food and the personable staff and chefs. Atmosphere is great.

Delicious food, I had a yummy beet salad, cheddar polenta, and sweet potato au gratin, all really good. My dad raved about the fries and the garlic aioli! We sat outside, and had wonderful fast service! I would certainly return!

Super expensive pizza, we're talking $15-$20+ for an 11inch pizza, the only size offered. IPA on draft=$8.50. Big city prices in a small city. Everything about the place tries to be more than it is, uncomfortably loud and impolite stressed out servers. Good luck I don't think Bangor is a good fit for this place--I'd take a Finelli's any day, too bad Finelli's didn't make it in Bangor!

Three of my six oysters on the half shell had shell fragments in them. Never had this happen before, can only assume the person shucking them was not doing it correctly. The briquet tacos were ok but the cheese over powered the flavor of the meat. The waitress was very friendly and the service was excellent. It was worth trying but I don't plan on coming back.

The space is cramped, but the decor is nice (I really like the exposed brick.) They have a lot of tables crammed into 2 small areas, so I felt like the people are the next table may as well have been sitting with us. I didn't feel that the food was anything to get excited about. Maybe because I paid $17 for a small pizza my expectations were higher? We have only gone once and really never felt the need to return.

I love this place! Ate here today. I come here for the atmosphere and awesome food. Both were not 100% today but mothers day is always crazy for nicer restaurants. Burger was great as usual. Beer was cold and served quickly and professionally by the bartender. Only thing lacking today was the poutine was quite dry. I could see they were serving up a TON of it and probably were running low in duck gravy (again, mothers day!). No biggies. This place is awesome if you want to impress your date, take your mother out to lunch or just have a few beers, a burger and watch the wood fire oven. Really nice place.

The wife and I went to Blaze this past Saturday night for the first time. We got a seat right near the brick oven which was welcome with the single-digit temps outside and people opening the door to enter/exit. Chris, our waiter, was awesome. He was engaging, polite and very attentive. I loved the flexibility of the menu. I had the Appalachia Burger but with chicken instead and my wife had the Statler Chicken. Everything was fantastic. The house-made apple butter on my burger added an interesting sweetness that I really enjoyed. My wife loved her chicken and the cheddar polenta was so good! We finished with the fried ice cream which is the best I've ever had. The shell is made from crushed pretzels and cocoa instead of your usual batter. It stays attached to the ice cream better than other places I've tried it and every bite was amazing. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu! One thing that might bother some: If you sit near the oven your clothes will smell like wood smoke after. If you're from Maine or any other cold weather state and have ever sat around a wood stove, this probably won't bother you.

This restaurant is listed as "pizza, bar", but the restaurant has much more to offer. There are 52 beers on tap. However, be aware that the pours on beers are only 10oz. I had the haddock tacos which were wonderful. They have a variety of options from about $10 up to $30. The wait staff was friendly and had great recommendations on both food and beer choices. They also have a nice patio.

Came here to celebrate my sister's birthday and the food was amazing. Our waiter chose our drinks for us and did one hell of a job. We had a plate of poutine that was absolutely delicious. I had a crispy pork belly burger that was to die for. We all really enjoyed our food. I would recommend this place to anybody.

We stopped at Blaze during an overnight stop in Bangor on our return from Nova Scotia to Boston. What a great pleasant surprise! The food (fig and ricotta pizza and the sliders) were excellent. But the really memorable treat here is their brew! I liked all the brews on their sampler, but their IPAs were truly exceptional. Service was very friendly. This place is worth a detour.

first time we went it was opening weekend and i definitely would cut them slack on service and wait times for that reason. the food was good but not great. duck fat fries were cold and mushy. pizza was good but the price seemed too high for the small pizza. there were too many menus. two drink menus and two huge dinner menus and we barely had room on the table. second time we went it was for brunch. service was excellent BUT we were the only people in the restaurant. brunch selections were good but not like you'd find in portland or other big cities. we have since gone for dinner, twice. there are definitely great beer and cider options but creative mix drinks are lacking. dinner service has improved somewhat, the wait staff want to do a good job and it shows but there is an extra personal touch missing. overall opinion is: underwhelmed. they had a long time to get this location ready (2 years). that extra time could've been spent on training and food execution. i will say the servers were very friendly and the general manager was great. the owner... not so much. he stood around in jeans and hoodie looking angry during opening weekend. his picture was in the paper so you'd think he'd step it up for publicity sake alone.

Terrible! Food was cold. Egg on my burger was was. The burger bun was falling apart from grease. Wife and daughter had cold pizza. The menu had grease and dried up food juice all over it. Never be back again.

So me and my wife came here for dinner on a Sat. My 2nd time and her first. I don't know if it was the restaurants fault for trying to pack to many people in or the customers but we had a horrible experience. Food was great, and lots of drinks. It was so loud and cramped and people acting a fool around us that we got our dinner to go. When I spend $100 on a meal I don't want a dive bar atmosphere. Because of this, IF I go again I will just sit at the bar.

The pork belly was excellent, probably the best I've ever had. The beer selection was extensive. Staff was knowledgable and friendly and provided excellent service

Blaze has the best selection of beers in this town, no doubt! And it would put countless other establishments in many other cities to shame. The food was also pretty good, thought I thought their prices on food could have slightly more competitive, especially since they're making all that dough off of you and the drink menu. Pretty great spot, a must try!

Amazing amazing amazing! Finally found a place in Bangor that knows how to make a good Bloody Mary! The food was delicious. Best burger I've had in a long time. Smaller than I expected but can fit a decent amount of people. Service was slow which is the only reason this place didnt get 5 stars.

My family visited Blaze in downtown Bangor Tuesday evening while visiting Bangor for the first time from Seattle. We got a comfortable seat at their outside tables, where we were frequently wafted with cigarette smoke by people just off the patio. It was happy hour, and when I ordered 5 oysters the waitress corrected me and asked me if I wanted the half dozen or the dozen order. Half dozen would have been over double the price of the happy hour price for the 5, and I had to point out the happy hour prices on the menu to her to get her to agree to a happy hour order. Then they were out of the happy hour clams that I tried to order, which made me wonder if they had a limited quantity and only wanted to sell them at full/non happy hour price. We ordered our dinner, which included mixed vegetables on my daughter's childrens' menu order. She received about one tablespoon of blanched spinach. I asked the waitress if that was indeed the mixed vegetables and she said it was this evening. My daughter found a Japanese beetle in the spinach. I've eaten all over the world and this is actually the first time I've ever been served a bug. The replacement mixed vegetables was a slightly larger portion of blanched arugula which appeared to be the same lettuce used in my arugula salad. The hamburger on the child's menu was large and outstanding. My wife and my meals were very small portions, prepared simply and adequately. I ordered the delicious-sounding maple bourbon milkshake and received a milkshake that my wife and I both noted had no hint of bourbon or maple flavor, just some mild chocolate. As I was paying my bill the bartender came out with a white-colored milkshake and apologized that I was served a plain chocolate milkshake instead. After eating my salad, half of my daughter's outstanding large hamburger, and drinking a large and very thick chocolate milkshake I was too full to drink it, and unfortunately the bartender noted he could not give it to me to go. When I received the bill I was not charged for my daughter's meal, but I was charged full/non happy hour prices for my wife's and my drinks, and i was charged for the milk shake. I complained about the full prices for our beers, and the waitress had them adjusted. Overall, it seems we experienced a poorly executed Blaze experience. I think whoever runs this chain needs to be a lot more careful about monitoring actual restaurants' practices as there seemed to be so many "errors" that led to diminished customer experience while fattening the restaurateur's profits, it is hard to believe they were accidents in this case. We will not go back to Blaze. Almost everyone around us ordered pizza and seemed satisfied.

I've been a regular at Blaze almost since they have opened. I love the ambience, the smells, the wide beer selection, and especially the food. It is obvious the chefs take great pride in every dish they create and prepare. What sets Blaze apart (besides it's incredible atmosphere) is the always-changing bar and menu offering. Bangor has needed a hip, upscale, cozy place like this for some time -- I'm glad it has it in this excellent restaurant.
