Excellent, fresh sushi, soup, salad, anything we ordered. Good service and effective decor. Excellent value, and would recommend it to a friend.

This place is a total hidden gem! I am not an adventurous sushi eater and I'm usually skeptical about even cooked fish at places I've never been. We were feeling adventurous and decided to try Yamahana, which is really close to our house. It is AWESOME! I would go so far as to compare it to Sushi King in Columbia, which always gets good reviews. Everything we had was fantastic! The restaurant is small, but clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had both vegetarian and cooked sushi dishes (tempura rolls, etc.)--our waitress even suggested several other rolls we might like the next time we come. She even took time to teach my husband how to use chopsticks! I cannot wait to go back!

Excellent vegetarian sushi. I am a vegetarian and usually have a very limited selection at a sushi restaurant. Their Avacado rolls and Tamago were superb...highly recommended, I'll be trying their Asparagus rolls and other vegetarian offerings next time.

We absolutely love yamahana, we found them on Yelp. Despite some low reviews we gave them a try and loved it! The prices are a bit high. Compared to other HoCo sushi restaurants. We have been there several times and it's never been busy. They are also great with kids.

My favorite date night spot with hubby! Sushi is absolutely delicious! Rice is cooked perfectly. Rolls are not too large and proportions of ingredients are in line to create the perfect bite every time. Owners are super friendly and the service is superb! Great spot for wonderful conversation, BYOB, and yummy food. Caterpillar Roll is my absolute fav.

The sushi here is fantastic (the volcano roll is my favorite) but some of the staff can be pretty rude and the atmosphere is nothing to write home about. My advice is to get take-out. It's also a little pricey but most sushi is, so. Might as well spend a little extra money for quality, right?

This is a great off the path Sushi restaurant. Family owned and operated we have never been disappointed with any roll that we have ever gotten from here. Small and in a neighborhood strip mall but this place is well worth the visit.

Best kept secret in the area. I travel all over the US and this restaurant ranks with any of Sushi restaurants I have dined. Reasonably priced, great sushi and off the beaten trail so it is never overcrowded.

I saw such a great rating on yelp, so i decided to try it because i live close by. My husband and I decided to get 2 sushi rolls and a salmon teriyaki lunch special. Both rolls weren't very good and tasted so dry. I realized they don't season the rice -like sushi rice...weird. Fish was so thinly sliced for what you pay....not much fish and lots of rice in the rolls...not worth the $14 for each. On to the teriyaki salmon lunch, comes with soup and salad which was fine. When the entree came 75% was white rice then 2 small pieces of salmon with teriyaki sauce drizzle on top no garnish or veggies- nothing fancy. Everything seemed basic... Nothing great and also service was less than average.

Hands down my favorite sushi place and I have tried them all within 30 miles. Never ever disappointed here and on top of it all you can bring your own alcohol. Love yamahana!!

This is our go to spot and hidden gem. Grab a bottle of wine (BYOB) and settle in for some great Sushi. It is never super crowded and the service is always great. And Sushi must be fresh and this always is. We have NEVER had anything but a great experience here. Stop in and enjoy the best Sushi this side of Columbia in a nice, casual, quiet atmosphere.

Found the restaurant off a Yelp Search on the iPhone, looking for sushi near us. Found the restaurant with the front door propped open. It was a lovely day, but I don't like when restaurants allow pests to come and go freely. Place was very clean. Ordered sushi, tempura, soup, and Negimaki. Sushi was fresh; the rice was perfect. Tempura was tasty. Soup was average and EXPENSIVE $7 for about 10 oz with one shrimp and one scallop. Negimaki was perfect. It was crazy expensive. We both drank tea and the bill was $73 (including tip) for the two of us. A $73 lunch is crazy. The place would have been 4-5 stars if they had not charged so much.

Love this place! We eat here at least once a month and have since it opened! The sushi is very good, the service is top notch, we've never had them mess up a carry-out order, etc. etc. Highly recommend it for great food and easy dining!

This sushi place is great! I've been going here for about a year now. First off, the place is kept really clean - which is important because I'm squeamish about raw fish. The place is pretty small, compared to other restaurants in the area, but there is never a wait and you could push tables together to accommodate for a bigger party. Service is fast, and very friendly. They remember certain things that I like and usually add them to my meal without me even having to ask. There's a variety of sushi and sashimi, but my favorite are the specialty rolls. Try the Manhattan and Yummy roll, unique choices I haven't found anything like at any other restaurant. I really like how different all the rolls are - each has a different flavor and you won't be disappointed.

I'm pretty picky about sushi I mean if you are going to be eating raw fish I think you should be. This place opened up in the same shopping mall where I was working. I told my husband about it and we both were pretty skeptical. When I asked around about the place I only heard good things so I figured it was worth a try. The restaurant is very clean and refreshing. The staff greet you right away with friendly faces. After only a few visits they recognized us, and made comments on how much our daughter has grown. But the most important part for us is the food! Even if raw fish isn't your thing there are plenty of other menu items worth trying. However the sushi is probably the best I have had to date! If you are ever in the area I would recommend stopping by!

SO GOOD!!!! I have only been to 3 or 4 different sushi places in my life, bc i have to admit im still nervous about raw fish. The restaurant it self is so clean and very pretty nothing to fancy but nice. The family who own it are very caring, they knew who i was the 2nd time i went, and now its almost like going to vistit friends for dinner there just always so welcome! If you were to ask me my favorites here they would be the yummy roll, or the peppered tuna!!! But i suggest trying everything atleast once, you never know what you might find that you love!

I yelped local sushi restaurants and decided to try Yamahana, which happened to be walking distance from my home. I decided on take out and ordered the Fantastic roll for 14 bucks including tax. I was craving sushi and figured a single special roll would hit the spot but I was wrong and my roll was far from fantastic. I placed the order and the lady told me to pick it up in 40 minutes because they were busy. A rather long wait for a single roll but I was willing. I got there a few minutes early but they hadn't even started on my order. She handed the order to the sushi chef and it was made in literally a minute. (Why did I have to wait 40 minutes when it could be done in 60 seconds?) As I was walking home, I opened the bag and was very disappointed to see the quality of the roll. The roll was loosely wrap, had a disproportionate amount of rice, and the fish eggs that were promised on the menu were missing altogether. I guess that's the quality you get when it's made so quickly but should not be the quality a customer deserves after waiting so long. I walked back in and got a second roll made tighter WITH fish eggs... She was kind about it. But honestly, it wasn't worth the money (I could've bought this at Weis next door for half the price) and unfortunately.. my sushi craving was never met. Two stars because I think they can do better when you dine in.

im a consummate chopstickest. been chopsticking since the age of three. i can pick up the softest tofu. i could eat cottage cheese with chopsticks. im a blackbelt 3rd degree chopsticker. but for the life of me, i could not keep the sushi rice ball from falling apart in my soy sauce. at the end of the meal, i inadvertently created rice in soy sauce soup. i had a hunch something wasnt right when we walked in here on a friday evening at 6pm, when the only other patrons were a mother and daughter sitting in the corner. the good thing is, we had our choice of stools at the sushi bar. we also had the undivided attention of the hostess/waitress/manager/owner(?) who greeted us with 'soup or salad?'. we declined but asked for drinks. moments later, she placed the drinks in front of us and repeated, 'soup or salad?'. we explained that we were there for the a la carte. the first sign of trouble was when we watched the chef work his knife. gasp! the slices of fish were inconsistent. he then trimmed the coveted fatty parts off of the slices and threw it back into the glass cage. what are we in for? the rolls were so not-ok. slightly loose wrapping which caused more s.o.s. rice in my soy sauce. when he was finished, the hostess/waitress/manager/owner lowered the sushi plate from the top of the glass cage to the counter in front of us. she thoughtfuly offered, 'soup or salad?' .. i ignored her. and thus, the prelude to my rice in soy sauce soup. while i tried to fish out the rice from the soy sauce, i started questioning my chopstick manhood. then it hit me. they used too much rice wine vinegar for the rice ball. it wasnt me or my lethal chopstick skills at all. when we finished eating our sushi and got tired of rescuing the rice out of our dipping sauce, i flagged the hostess/waitress/manager/owner down and asked for the check before she could say 'soup or salad?' meanwhile, the chef had dissappeared to a computer behind the hostess station, the knife now replaced by a mouse. on our way out, we paused by him to get some mints. not a word. no sank you's, no goo bye's, nothing. i agree with the other reviewers that the place was cute, quaint and clean. but the sushi aint gettin 5 stars from me. 2 stars...its better than chinese buffet sushi.

Food was delish. Pad Thai with chicken is the best in the area. Sushi was good too. But the General Taos blew me away! Only place I've ever been to that use all white meat chicken. Service is fine - slow at times but nothing ridiculous. Would definitely recommend.

Great local sushi place. The coo coo roll is amazing. It's fun by a family and is a good place to go if you don't feel like driving too far. A little pricey but you get what you pay for.

I've been going here for eight years now, so that should say something. I don't even live in the area anymore, but my parents still do. Easily my favorite place to go when I visit them. Queenie and Jack are some of the loveliest people you'll ever meet, and their food is equally as awesome. Even having spent five years as a vegan, I was always happy eating there. (Vegans MUST try the Yasai maki and the age [ah-geh] tofu with no dashi... So good.) Clean. Delicious. Comfortable. Love.
