This is my first time having a snowball. I was at a Mexican restaurant with some friends when one of them asked me if I wanted to get "snowballs"? Soon after describing to me what it was, I was immediately inclined to getting one. What it is, is shaved ice with a flavor of your choice and a scoop of marshmallow filling on the bottom and top of the cup for a sweeter taste. IT WAS AMAZING. This is definitely a must try if you haven't had any of this before.

Snowballs are more of a Maryland thing and this place offers lots of favors, special toppings and customization with great customer service. They have Diet and Lite flavors and classic (root beer, skylite) and some exotic flavors (mango) and custom blends (mojito?) and the Flavor of the Day. The kids were thrilled with their rainbow snowballs, and we're out on a nearby bench in the shade, chatting about agario while traffic flows by. Prices are fair, and they also support our county library's summer reading program - which has coupons when you make it halfway and complete the program. They also have ice cream, but alas, I've yet to try it.

Kind of a weird location for a snowball stand isn't it? The line moved fast and the people who are work their are friendly and I was asked where I want my marshmallow instead of them just assuming. As far as the snowballs go they taste like... well ... Snowballs.

A Howard County tradition!! We grew up visiting this, so I always visit this when I come back home. I know they sell ice cream and such, but I'm a traditionalist.

We were visiting our friends who grew up outside Baltimore and shared this little gem w us - boy are we glad they did! We were encouraged to get the chocolate snowball w marshmallow topping because it is their 'staple' and it was every bit as good you can imagine. I was surprised at first because chocolate flavored ice doesn't initially sound good but trust me when I say, you have to try this.

Great vanilla & chocolate ice cream. Shaved ice like any other place in MD. The portions are a good size and there are some seats for you to sit on. Make sure to check out the flavor of the day for shaved ice.

Delicious desserts, large portions, great team of workers and so affordable! I went there the night after they had just opened this year and they were out of a lot of things. I was craving a rootbeer float which they unfortunately couldn't make. They let me get creative and invent my own. I was told if it becomes popular they will put it on the board. I mixed up their cherry sundae...I went with a Rootbeer sundae (rootbeer flavored ice, vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips and more rootbeer flavored ice) no chocolate sauce (I just dont like what happens to the chocolate sauce on ice). Rootbeer sundae is now my new favorite.

All i can say is absolutely love this place! They always have delicious flavors and its not pricey. I usually get the watermelon flavor snowball with marshmallow (heaven in my mouth)! They've recently added benches and such for you to sit and enjoy your yummy treat. The only downfalls are: CASH only! It kinda sucks when you drive by and have a sweet tooth but no cash or not enough on hand. The nearest bank/ATM is like 15-20 min =[. Also, mostly high schoolers work and only like 2 at a time so the wait can be a while .. but it's TOTALLY WORTH A TRY!

Very yummy :) I love the option to add candy to the snowballs. Egg Custard with Gummy Bears is the best!

This snowball stand has been around for a longgg time and they havent changed much. Why fix what aint broke? They dont really get a hugeee rush but they usually only have 1 high school student working so sometimes it gets a bit slow. The ice cream is good and so is the snowballs. Try the Sky Blue with some marshmellows on top;; Delicious^^^ Make sure to tip because theyre all students and the money goes toward college fund and good cause.

3 stars plus..Good snowballs, they are liberal with the marshmallow but the prices are a bit high. Whats gets them an extra star is because after ordering for me and the family I realized I didn't have any cash just plastic and they take IOU's. Just write your name down and your good. Be careful with the little one on the parking lot it gets busy. Great service Woodstock snowball stand. Two Thumbs up!

I have been coming to this snowball stand for years. It is my absolute favorite. I currently live in DC and anytime I make it up that way, I'm sure to stop. My favorite flavor is Candy Apple- but it's only a "Flavor of the Day" special... I hope they pick it up full time! It's delicious. The marshmallow cream is the best I've tasted. I love the texture of their ice. I am completely in love with this place. I wish they would franchise out, and get a location closer to DC.

Great selection. Inventive delux snowball combos. Love both diet (0 cal) and lite flavors!

I guess it's because I don't like snowballs to start out with. . .or maybe it's because it's been a long time since I've been to the snowball stand, I unfortunately have to give a less-than-stellar review. I do like all the large list of flavors & cool toppings, like the marshmallow! Butttt, it was super sweet & kind of killed the snowball :/ Also, I didn't particularly like the consistency of the snowballs either, they were more like slushies to me. Is there a difference between shaved ice and snowballs? I think I prefer more solid types, whichever is the more solid of the two.

I love this place! :) i too have been going here for years.... It's a nice sweet treat that you can enjoy on a hot day & not feel that guilty about like you would ice cream ;p....They are inexpensive, & there are an incredible amount of different flavor combinations you can try my favorite is the egg custard with marshmallow! Just be careful because once they open they are always crowded ;p you may have to park on the side of the street - beware of little kiddies running around on their sugar rushes too! ;p

This snowball stand is the absolute best one around. The teens who work there are, without fail, the most polite kids I've seen. The prices are fair, the servings generous, the options plentiful. I also really like that they have reduced sugar and sugar free flavors, so you can go that route too. The only thing I would love them to add is an few dye free options like strawberry etc- some of the more conventional, kid friendly choices but without dye- for kids who are sensitive to dyes. Love, love, LOVE this snowball stand.

It's hot as balls outside - what better way to cool off than with a snowball?! Food Stuffs - For the uninitiated, snowballs are crushed ice covered in syrup. This stand and the one in Burtonsville ( yelp.com/biz/sarems-soft… ) - both a little ways off of Rte. 29 - are my favorite places in MD to get snowballs. For about $4, you can get a massive snowball, topped with marshmallow. That's right! Marshmallows! Well, it's a marshmallow topping, so think of a stickier, thicker, sweeter version of whipped cream. The thickness allows a little bit of marshmallow with each bite - as if the syrups themselves aren't sweet enough. Some like it (me)! Some don't. They also have soft serve ice cream ($1 for a single cone), or you can combine the ice cream with your snowball. Location - A few miles from the end of Rte. 29. That's right. Rte. 29 ends! When you're driving from Rte. 29, it''ll be on your right. There's a tiny parking lot and it's usually packed. They have flavors of the day, which you can find via their Twitter. I'm pretty sure it's cash only. Service - the people inside the stand work without A/C. Gotta respect that. So ditch, Rita's. Besides, Philly people always say the Rita's in MD are nothing compared to the originals. Stick with a Maryland tradition! So I ask you: do you have (snow)balls?

I go to this place every time I'm back in my hometown. It's inexpensive and delicious, and I love that they haven't changed much besides expanding their flavor options and such; it still feels like "The Snowball Stand" I would go to as a kid.

They open late. Have many flavors. The Gelati is my fave- soft serve ice cream and snowball! The service is great and they have a frequent buyer card. I only wish they were closer to me.

What a great surprise! We were out on a weekend drive exploring places we'd never been and there was the snowball stand! How many other secret gems are waiting? We drove past and saw the fun crowd on benches under the great trees, so we made the next safe U-turn and went back. The number of cars in the lot let us know this was a big local favorite. A virtually unlimited number of flavors and combinations, a variety of sizes and styles, all waiting for you to customize. The only bad thing is you have to choose or you can't eat. The perfect stop on a hot day. I can't wait to go back all summer.

This is one of those places that every local knows about and no one else has a clue. I consider myself lucky to know a local! Your typical "doesn't even have an address" kind of stand at the corner of two roads, this place really kicks boootay. I had a creamsicle snowball with marshmallow (fluff, I think) on top. THE PERFECT ACCOMPANIMENT TO ANY HOT DAY! There are some picnic tables to "chill out" on (sorry, I'm cheesy and I can't help it) after you order. Prices are cheap, TONS of options as far as flavors and toppings. After you order, sit back and enjoy the fabulous view of the "typical" Maryland countryside. Quite astonishing if you've spent the last 7 years in the flat Midwest! This is a great summertime treat that can't be missed - do yourself a favor and stop in!

I give this stand 5 stars. it's convenient and has wonderfully tasty flavors. For those who like ice cream, they've begun offering that too. But I'm sticking with my all time favorite snowball which I've gotten here for so many years. it's definitely a little secret treasure in Howard County. Shhhhh,,,.... it's all OURS!!!!!

Been loving this place for years. I get the fireball flavor with marshmallow and my husband gets egg custard flavor with marshmallow. The kids love the cotton candy flavor with gummy bears on top!
