Large steakhouse that is probably your best option for food around here, everything else is Cheesecake factory-esque. Came with a huge party, all ordered different things, I tried the steak and it was PERFECT, melt in your mouth. The deviled eggs were sub-par, had kind of a weird taste. The southern slaw was pretty good. The french fries and ribs were also very good, but would recommend sticking with a steak. They were fast with service and good at accommodating a large party with little to no notice.

Went yesterday for my boyfriend's birthday. We went at 2:00, and the place was empty. Our food was fantastic. I got the 7 oz center cut filet oscar style, cooked medium rare with a loaded baked potato. He got the Bone-in Cowboy but Rib-eye, also cooked medium well with garlic mashed potatoes. Both steaks were cooked well (mine was perfect, his was a little over, but not too much), and the baked potato was one of the biggest I've ever seen. The garlic mashed were just okay, nothing to write home about. Our service on the other hand was just sub-par. You could tell she was aggravated that we did not order appetizers, or alcoholic drinks. I don't even think she told us her name. She checked on us only once after we got our food, before she haphazardly threw the dessert menu on the table to ask if we wanted anything. Like I said, it was his birthday, and his 30th, so it was a big deal. If she would have been a better server, we would have ordered dessert. Instead we left and went somewhere else, so we would feel comfortable eating our dessert and celebrating his birthday. I know we probably came at the end of her shift, but we spent a decent amount of money, and don't deserve to be treated like we are an annoyance. If the rating was 100% based on food, I would easily give this place 4 stars. I also the bartender come out and take a table in the dining room before we left. I wish I knew his name, because he seemed amazing. I would of loved to have him as my server instead. Guess next time we will be sitting at the bar, maybe that would make the experience better.

Stoney River is consistently very good it's not on the level of Capital Grille or Morton's, but it is a good cut above Longhorn or Outback. The prices are reasonable. Ambiance is good, and it's nicely appointed. The service is always quite good, without being overbearing. The starters are all good choices and the steaks always consistently good. I've been here for private parties and casual dinners, and it is a good value for the price.

The worst, most disappointing meal I've had in a long time...especially from a place that claims they serve "legendary steaks." I enjoy spending time at Towson Town Center and it would be great to have a go-to steak restaurant but this isn't the spot. I was underwhelmed. No wonder I never hear anyone mention this place. The service was good and they have a pleasant ambiance that I like better than say Capital Grill. It's also in a good location in the Pottery Barn/Crate and Barrel wing of the mall but that's where my positive review ends. I could not eat even three bites of my fish special of the day since it was amazingly fishing. I love fish but this was unappetizing. The manager was apologetic and took my meal off the check. Salad was wilted Steak was average Lobster tail was fried in a tempura batter and it ruined the lobster Fish special - I don't even remember what kind of fish they had because it was terrible

My experience here was, to say the least, interesting. I would give the service only one star, but I would give the food 4.5 stars. It's very unfortunate that the service ruined my friends' and my experience here. First of all, the place was very busy when we went. We were put on the waitlist for 45 minutes. Then, it turns out they accidentally took us off the waitlist so we had to wait more. We were seated at a table that kept tilting (one of the legs was damaged). We notified the waiter, who attempted to fix the problem but was unable to in the end. We NEVER got any silverware or bread plates, even though we were promised we would get them. The tables around us were served bread and butter before us (even though they were seated after us) and they got bread multiple times (we had to ask for more after the first time). The waiter wasn't particularly friendly either, although he did do his job. The food, on the other hand, was delicious! The honey butter that went with the warm bread was absolutely delicious! The chicken sandwich I had was great. I highly recommend the desserts! The creme brulee was rich and creamy - perfect. The chocolate cake with ice cream is brought ro the table where steaming chocolate sauce is poured over the dessert. The cheesecake was also delicious and rich! The only time I might return is when the restaurant is not busy, but otherwise, the service ruined the night for me and my friends sadly.

This place is huge!! We were with a large party that kept getting bigger. The service was very good, attentive and helpful. I just had the house salad, so I can really only comment on that, it was great and flavorful. Everyone around had a variety of appetizers, deviled eggs, salads and steaks, ribs and french fries. Everything looked appetizing. A little pricey.......

Only been here for happy hour (otherwise I'd give 5 stars) but this is a great alternative to the other restaurants nearby. The ambiance isn't as bustling and the staff rules. Seriously the most attentive and pleasant staff I've come across in the area. Drinks made to order are some of the best I've had. The bartenders seriously know what they're doing as a craft. The starters I've had were great. They could maybe have a few more starters but all things considered a pleasant experience.

Dining here is a fantastic experience with top notch service from the moment you walk through the door and get seated. The wait staff is outstanding and very attentive. I highly recommend the Cured Coffee Filet. The food is excellent, never had a bad meal here. I have eaten at both a booth and at at the bar and the experience has always been very enjoyable.

Brought my family to this franchise steak house. The food was average a little better than Lone Star steakhouse but not great. The server was very good. She was very attentive and quickly resolved any issues. Price was fair but no sizzle. The dessert was the best part of the meal.

My friend recommended that we check out this location because we had such a great dining experience at the Stoney Rive Annapolis location a while back. I would have skipped eating here based on the three star rating on Yelp... because Yelpers rarely steer me wrong! But it wasn't my restaurant pick, so I went with low expectations. However, Stoney River gets a solid four stars in my book, and they are well earned. Now, I'm doing this thing where I enjoy my meals and life in general first instead of taking pictures before I can enjoy anything. Soooo no pictures to share... maybe I will do an empty plate picture lol. But really, I think everything I ordered was captured by another Yelper. The reason Stoney River does not get 5 stars, is mostly for service. Service was satisfactory, but it wasn't memorable. Memorable service deserves 5 stars. Valet service is complementary using the Towson Town Center valet with a validated ticket, so that's awesome. Also, I was able to make reservations at Stoney River using one of my favorite services... OpenTable, and our information was printed on a card for the server, so that was a nice touch. Stoney River has a nice ambiance. They also have quite a large bar and some high-top tables sectioned on one side of the restaurant. The main dining area had a few groups so this is a nice place for a celebratory dinner. We were able to get a booth as I requested, probably because it was Friday evening and there were many empty tables. Also, I think the dress code here is a bit more casual and relaxed because of it's location in the mall. I ordered a Rib-eye steak with a side of Au Gratin Potatoes and Asparagus. And of course, I had a glass of red wine =) Since this is a review, I'd have to say this steak just deserved the silver medal. (My favorite restaurant that I won't mention here still holds the gold baby!) The steak was cooked medium and it was served with a bit of Maître d' butter on top. It was good, but the steak was slightly dry and just not gold medal flavorful... but as I said, it was good! This is also where Stoney River fails to receive 5 stars... I like my meat coming out with aplenty juice running! The Au Gratin Potatoes... I liked those more than I expected, plus they were very impressive looking with thin layers. Asparagus was cooked perfectly! And to my utter delight, they had Key Lime Pie listed as a dessert option! They get an extra 1/2 star just for that... Hontey... KLP is #1 in my pie book. I was stuffed, but its hard to find homemade KLP so I ordered it to-go. I'm the one who can only eat like three bites of pie or cake at a time, so it takes me like three days to finish any kind of rich dessert. Well... except during Thanksgiving! Anywho... the filling was creamy, rich and not very tart... and the crust was homemade with bits of pecan. I'm a southern girl, so I loved the crust because pecan and graham cracker crust is standard for many pies. So as I was standing over my counter at home eating this I was like YAAAASSS!!! Life was given. *in my terminator voice* I'LL BE BACK!!!

My husband and I love this restaurant! We usually go for happy hour and get the burger. It's delicious and so are the drinks. The bartending staff is always very attentive and friendly. I recommend this restaurant. It's never very busy (at least during the week). The coffee cure filet mignon and creme brûlée is to die for!

My family came here to celebrate my Mom's 50th Bday. We made reservations. Upon arrival we were promptly seated. After looking over the menu I ordered the 14oz Rib Eye cooked Medium. My family ordered steaks, the lime chicken, a burger, and cocktails. The server brought us rolls but we had to wait for more because they ran out. Once the food came everyone enjoyed their meals which were all cooked to perfection. I sent my order of potato Augratin because they were dry and lacking flavor. I ordered the sweet potato casserole. Yummers! A cold slice of birthday cake came out and you can tell it was pre sliced in the fridge. Not impressive. The waitress was really sweet. She didn't go out of her way or anything but I know I was a nuisance and she handled it well. I've been here time and time again as I am a frequent Towson Mall patron. This steak house was just what this mall needed.

The chips are delish. The steaks came out cool, BUT tasty. They offered to take back. Server attentive. Offered dessert because of steaks. Would recommend. Now I would have given a 4 but the temperature in restaurant, hard to control. Very hot by kitchen, and smoky. Both my friend and I were stuffed up.

Stoney River is one of my favorite places to dine. I've never had a bad meal there. From the bright and cheerful hosts to the floating managers, who bus tables and check on guests. The menu is uncomplicated and delicious, from start to finish. Start with the house salad, move on to the bisque, have a bone-in Ribeye, and top it with the house rolls.

    (4)
  • Cesar P.

French Onion Soup is a little bit salty, stil great. Will be perfect if you served on Bread Bowl. Prime Rib, like all steaks if it's not medium ( or med. rare depending on thickness) cooked, it loses all juice and flavor. Include some draft beers, you know, steak goes as well with beers as with wines. About the service I don't have to complain... the place was a a little crowded, big table parties. But the food came in perfect timing.

My boyfriend and I ordered the Bone in Ribeye... And we loved it!!! I couldn't finish mine at all... The best steaks ever!!! Customer service was perfect and the servers were extreme knowledgeable... The steaks were tender and all the sides were tasty...

My husband made reservation for us for my birthday last week. I've always enjoyed our dinners here and like the cozy ambiance of the restaurant. It's also usually quiet which we also like. He requested that we have a table near the fireplace for the romantic aspect, plus I'm anemic so it's always nice to be placed directly near a heat source. When the reservation was made he mentioned it was my birthday as he was under the impression they do something special and the girl noted it and unfortunately she said they couldn't guarantee that table. We arrived 20 minutes prior to the reservation time and he was happy that the table was available and obviously I was too. Our server was VERY attentive the duration of dinner and the food was also delicious. I was disappointed to find out that they still don't have a blender to make frozen drinks which is a bit odd for a restaurant of their sorts. We had ordered the steak rolls, soup, coffee curated filet and prime rib dip along with several different sides. I highly recommend the coffee curated filet which is delectable and also the macaroni and cheese side which is baked with Gouda. In the future I would definitely skip out on the French fries (came with my husbands sandwich) as they are average and the greasy steak rolls. At the time I didn't know, but my husband was a bit upset that they didn't do anything special for my birthday, as he was under the impression they did.

A fine steakhouse. But I can't take it much more than that. I had the ribeye steak, garlic mashed, and a tossed salad with herb vinaigrette. This is pretty basic stuff for a steakhouse. It was all good. The ribeye was cooked just medium like I asked. The salad came without chopped eggs like I asked. And the mashed potatoes were fine. We had comments at the table that the coffee-cured filet mignon was good. The restaurant also provided a couple of glasses of champagne to our couple celebrating an engagement. The wait staff was excellent. Recommended.

Consistently AMAZING food and service, in an elegant atmosphere--which is surprising, since it is at the Towson Mall. But this is one of my favorite restaurants for business lunches, dinner dates and special meals with family. You can't go wrong here.

It was okay. Nothing particularly great. It was pretty crowded, but somewhat roomy. The food was pretty good, and about average price for any steak worth getting. You'd go just as well at Texas Steak House for less.

This was an impromptu dinner on a night when we are shopping. There was a little bit of a wait, so we weren't making an evening of it. It sets a very hushed ambiance, with dim mood lighting, and dark furniture. We had the San Francisco Dip (Creamed spinach and water chestnuts served with Parmesan flatbread) t start off with, then each of us had a steak. It was a pretty good meal - and priced appropriately. The service was attentive, even though it was clear she was a little rushed. A return might be order.

Came here with my parents for my mom's birthday on a Sunday night. We were pleased with the warm atmosphere and quick seating. Our waiter was very personal and attentive. We ordered the steak rolls and ahi tuna roll. The steak rolls were delicious. The ahi roll, which our waiter said was amazing, turned out to be very bland. For our entrées we ordered the coffee cured filet, the lodge filet, and the steak and fries. My dad loved his steak and fries. When my mom and I bit into our steaks we realized something was off. My lodge filet had a very bold flavor with some caramelized crust (not to mention slightly overcooked) and my mom's "coffee-cured filet" had almost no flavor at all. We then realized they must have prepared the opposite steaks. Our waiter quickly returned our steaks to the kitchen and apologized for the inconvenience. The manager then came up to send his condolences. We mentioned we were there to celebrate a birthday and he offered to buy my mom a dessert. But then he began to ARGUE with us about our steak preparation. Little did this guy know, I have a couple a years of culinary training under my belt and know a thing or two about food preparation. When we received our second attempt of filets, I was pleased with mine but my mom's was ICE COLD. At that point we cut our losses and considered this place less than "legendary". At the end of service our waiter brought a dessert menu over. My mom ordered her complimentary blondie and before anyone else could say anything, the waiter snatched the menu to put the order in and run our check. He returned with our receipt and we explained that we wanted to order additional desserts. However, I was just ready to snack on the sweet freedom of getting the f--- out of there. So for the price point, this place is the Kardashian of restaurants: somewhat aesthetically pleasing, but full of cruel intentions and disappointment. *rant over

Whether you're a Towson local looking for a nice dinner on a special night, or just passing through, Stoney River is a very good choice. I come here almost every time I visit Towson and am always impressed by both the servers and the menu. I usually request Reilly as my server, he is efficient and friendly. The drink menu and appetizers are excellent, I recommend the Angel's Revenge drink and the whiskey shrimp. The little bread 'poppers' they serve before the meal are also delicious! The ambiance is also really nice, you would never guess how quaint and up-scale the interior is from outside! It is quiet and dim with a sort of rustic, log-cabin feel. The only draw backs are limited entrée options for pescetarians. However, it is a steak restaurant, so this likely isn't an issue for most other patrons.

Stoney River is a large upscale steakhouse located next to Cheesecake Factory in the Towson mall. Apparently, they believe that they ARE the Cheesecake Factory. You know how you always have to wait at CheeFac (lol)? Well, you always have to wait at Stoney River, too. The only difference is that Stoney River is never full. Every time I go, they ask if I have reservations (which I don't, because why would I make a reservation for somewhere that is never full) and then I have to wait for a period of time that varies, but it's always longer than one should have to wait in an empty restaurant. Once it was 20 minutes. Then you sit there staring at like 30 empty tables and growing enraged. I don't understand. What are they doing? Am I greatly inconveniencing them by trying to eat there without a reservation? It's super weird. The food is very good. It is, however, expensive. I think it's a bit overpriced. I have had the ahi tuna salad, and the portion was very small, with the lettuce quantity resembling a garnish. I have since switched to the ahi tuna steak, which they don't have all the time. I have also had several steaks there, all delicious and cooked perfectly. They also have great sides. I enjoy the caramelized onion mashed potatoes. Also, they give you little rolls with honey butter for the table. The servers are always top notch, and the manager often comes around personally to check on the tables. Basically once you have passed through the long wait issue, the staff are great. The weird seating delay and the prices are the reason I didn't give SR 4 stars. I do recommend the food, but make sure you have time for that wait!

Do not come here if you are a party of 10 on a Sunday because the rude host will turn you away at the door. "Not Enough Staff" hopefully they do not get five 2-Tops that come in for lunch... Poor business management.

Customer service=Great. No reservation was needed which I thought was unusual but it worked out well. I love the atmosphere. The smooth music at the time there was Jazz playing with low lighting. My sever Charlie was very attractive and took the time to check in on us as often as he could. Our meals were superb my medium rare steak was just right. It's a pleasant place to come if you want a little romance to end your night. There is no limit to the type of people you'd see here. I saw several Orioles jerseys which shows this place has the Blue collar citizens in mind as well. .

yeah they do make a big deal about whether you have a reservation or not. We couldn't have a booth, but 3 or 4 empty booths the entire time we were there made me a tad caustic. The martini my Dad ordered came up way short, before I saw the bartender was born well after Sean Connery ordered same: "shaken, not stirred." The bread served was like donut-sweet, steak was a bit grissely &a bit tough. Potato dish was terrific as others said. Service was uneven. I noticed the restaurant seemed to be run by a very young staff, right down to the inexperienced bartender. Flemings & Capital Grill it is not even if less expensive, but we would not ever go back either. Legendary it is NOT.

I've been to this restaurant twice. The first time, I truly enjoyed my experience there. I had the coffee-cured filet mignon and it was one of the best steaks that I have ever had! If that was only time eating here, I would have given Stoney River more stars in my review, but alas I had gone a 2nd time and my experience was not as stellar as the first time. The pros of this place is the food. The rolls are delicious and sweet. I also love the atmosphere. It is dark and there's a fireplace by some of the tables to provide mood lighting that is comfy and romantic. I also loved that there is a rule of no cell phones to be used at the table. Great idea. The cons of this place was the service. Our waiter joked around and was casually friendly. I typically enjoy this as long as the waiter's service and attention to the group does not falter. First of all our waiter checked on us, but at times it was too much. It was hard to get a conversation in without him checking on us and then when we actually did want him to come by ie: to refill glasses, he was no where to be seen. Another con was some glasses fell and broke by our table on the ground and they didn't sweep up after. It wasn't until my friend pointed this out that there was still glass on the ground (rather large pieces too) that they actually came to sweep up the remainder of the glass. Strike 3 was my friend ordered the Crunchy Ahi Tuna roll appetizer. The waiter brought the Asian Ahi Tuna salad instead. When my friend told the waiter, the waiter said, I thought you ordered the salad when it was clear to us and him that he didn't. He ended up apologizing and replacing the dish with the correct one, but instead of saying, I thought you ordered the salad (meanwhile both dishes have completely different names) as a defense, the reaction should have been to apologize and immediately replace with the correct order. Then the waiter brought us dishes for the wrong table twice. The first time it was funny, but when it happened the second time.. it was mediocre. He didn't even apologize, but made a joke over it which I didn't think was all that professional. Overall, I understand that this is service just based on one person so I will leave the opportunity to try this place again one day.

Other reviewers give this place mixed ratings depending on when they went, what they ordered, and what they were expecting. Anyone with more-than-average experience at steakhouses will quickly discover that their steaks are definitely not "Legendary". Nevertheless, we love this place because we go on weekdays or Sundays, at off-hours, and do not order steaks. We love the solid walnut butcher-block tables, we love to sit by the fireplace, we love when there's no loud music or crowds and we can talk with our friends. Their lowest cost-by-the-glass "Hogue Cellars" red wine is outstanding. Their lobster bisque is sinfully creamy, buttery, and topped with chunks of perfectly poached lobster meat and a healthy splash of dry Sherry. Their house salad is made with the freshest veggies, and the vinaigrette is excellent. But the best are the burgers! Big, fat half pounders, we order them plain (no cheese) to fully enjoy their excellent juicy texture and flavor. The buns have a great yeasty, fresh-baked flavor. To top it all off, you get to order any side you like (don't miss their baked potato, or for an extra buck, the sweet-potato oven-baked mini casserole). Still hungry? The pecan-crusted key-lime pie is as authentic as you can get in South Florida.

This was my third trip to Stoney River steaks and I was very excited about going back. I even brought nine other people with me and I was looking forward to a great evening and good food. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience as soon as we entered the restaurant. Starting with the drink orders, the waiter couldn't seem to get it right. Spilling water on two out of the 10 people, the night just seem to go downhill. It took a very long time for our entrees to come and when they did, many of our entrées were not cooked as ordered. Some were very undercooked and other entrées were just plain cold. To the restaurants credit they did comp the bill due to the poor service and quality of food. Other guests that were in the restaurant that night expressed a great time but it appears we just had bad luck. Based upon my first two experiences and the actions of the restaurant manager making it right, I will surely give it another try.

I have only been here for happy hour. The food is tasty but a little salty and happy hour drinks good. I wish they had more chairs, usually people group up at either end of the bar and there is a huge gap in the middle.

Been here twice for dinner and it was really decent food with a lot of ambiance. The steak is on point and the side dishes (especially the potato ones) are delicious. They have a pretty extensive wine list and liqiour list to choose from as well. The service is always really prompt and friendly and this is definitely a place that'll notice your glass is empty and come over to get you a new one speedily.

We frequently eat at Stoney River and have always had excellent service and food. Last night we took our son and daughter-in-law to Stoney and we had an excellent, very enjoyable meal. Service was great and Manager also came by to great us. As a cost value engineer, I find the steaks and sides excellent, particularly the prime rib and Stoney's cost compared to Flemings and Capital Grille, who are only selling pretentiousness, heads and tails a better value. Prior to our dinner reservation we received a confirming call and they double checked where we wish to be seated. Upon our arrival we were promptly seated at the perfect table. We also received a call today to make sure we were happy with our visit. Excellent food and service plus free valet parking to is adds up to a great dining experience.

We wanted to have a family steak dinner in the neighborhood so we decided to come here. It was disappointing. Outback would have been better. Noisy atmosphere , mediocre service & fair food made for a "I won't go back there" experience. We had to order a well-done steak that came out medium, and the, it was charred to the point of inedible. The waiter made excuses as to how one should never order well-done. Tell that to a 93 year old! The following week I gladly went to the Omaha Steak store across the street.

Made reservations for my brothers birthday on a Tuesday night. The place was pretty empty and still waited 30mins to be seated! There was dirty silverware on the table, and it took 30 minutes for the appetizer to come out. The waiter Tom just couldn't seem to get it right. He was a really nice guy but just seemed a lil goofy. He overcharged us for the drinks. The food was over cooked and not really impressive for the price. The bread knots are good and the ambiance was great.

This is one of those establishments where each progressive visit is less satisfactory than before. For a restaurant that serves mainly steaks they sure don't know how to cook one. Medium-rares come out very rare while well-dones come out burnt. Orders are taken incorrectly. Even Outback cooks better steaks. The only highlight is the free bread they give you while you wait for your food. I would avoid this place. Oh why didn't we just go to CheeseCake next door!

Very warm ( beautiful fireplace) and inviting restaurant. I was in town on business and my hotel recommended this place. Since I'm a native Chicago steak lover I was all in!. This place is a bit pricy but I had a coupon with me. It was lunchtime and I chose the French dip sandwich. I thought it was a bit overpriced at 15.99 but well worth it. It was served with truffle fries on Ciabatta bread. Yummy!.

I loved the atmosphere. No cell phones allowed at the table and warm mood lighting. The food tasted like it was made right in the restaurant fresh. The waiter was very attentive to our needs and the management personally came to each to table to ensure excellent service.

Visited this restaurant three times in a matter of 12 days. The first time was a wonderful experience from beginning to end! The waiter, the food and the entire experience were ultimate. This made me return 3 days later with a guest. The experience the second time was mediocre. The waitress was rude and aloof. She was training another waiter and the trainee was performing better than she was! From her rambling off the evening's signature cocktail, to forgetting the bread, to throwing the check at me and then not apologizing for any of it! I did bring it to the attention of the manager, Mario, who apologized and stated he would forward my complaint to another manager. I received a call from Mehrez who was very apologetic and agreed that the experience was not an acceptable one. He invited us back as his guests to enjoy complimentary appetizers and a bottle of wine from the "Manager's selection". Based on this invite, I then returned 5 days later with two other guests who had never experienced Stoney River. What a disappointment and embarassment for me and them! I introduced my friends and myself to the host and she called Mario over. He remembered me and we were seated. I explained to the waiter that I would like to order from the "Manager's selection". The waiter left and returned to say that he could not accomodate my request. Really?! Not only did we leave, but they lost two other potential customers besides myself. It's bad when you have bad service but worse when you are invited back as a chance to regain and wind up with a worse off impression! We will NEVER return or recommend this spot.... The food was pretty tasty (had the Thai Chicken Salad and Steak 'N' Fries) so for this I will grant the two stars however, the overall experience left a sour taste in my mouth and I won't be spending my hard earned money at this establishment when it's clear they really do not value their customers. Legendary? Ruth Chris and Morton's are legendary....

I reserved a table for two for my husband's birthday. The reviews seemed mixed with 3 stars so I decided to give it a try myself. We were taken to our seats almost immediately after our arrival since there was no wait at all (could be because it was a week day). There were 2 other tables that were occupied. We were seated right next to the fireplace which was nice and bad. Nice because they were their best seats, bad because they had already set the restaurant temperature to be high. Sitting next to a fire place was like doing an outdoor barb q on a 115*F afternoon!! DRINK: The Peach Margarita was just an overwhelming amount of peach to enjoy anything at all. When we told her baout this, she didn't ask if we wanted a different drink but, quickly took to correct it which was adding some lime juice to neutralise it. It didn't make the drink any better, but I sure appreciate her willingness to do it. APPETIZER: I ordered lobster bisque and my husband - French onion. The French onion was good. The lobster bisque sadly had no lobster at all, and again after bringing it to the notice of Courtney, she quickly gave me another bowl of the same. The new one had no lobster again. ENTREE: I had a Sword Fish Steak which was cooked to perfection, with a side of their signature Caramelised Onion Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. It was the only dish I actually enjoyed. My husband had their coffee flavoured Fillet Mignon which was nothing special. DESSERT: Not having the heart to order another dish which would turn out disappointing, we decided not to go for the dessert. Along with the check we were given the thinnest slice of chocolate cake I have ever seen. Courtney proudly put the plate on our table and told my husband- " here is something from us for your birthday, but sorry we DON'T have any candles!!" We asked for the manager and the waitress told us --" The manager asked you to go on line and write in the comment section of the restaurant's website if you want." We were stunned at that reply from such an up-scale place. The only thing that would make me go back there is if we got stuck with their gift card, or maybe even the chocolate cake (but I would definitely order the full portion). Courtney did try, but I would say not enough.

I would like to say that after the review below and a letter I sent to Stoney River's Corporate Office, as well as the Towson location I was contacted by the general manager who apologized and thanked me for the feedback on my not very great experience. I appreciate the timely manner in which they got back to me and let me know that they would like another opportunity to make me a loyal customer. My mom's birthday is New Year's Eve and since my sister worked that night we decided to take her out for dinner on the 30th. She had been here before and really liked it so this was her choice for her special day. Let me start by saying that the moment we walked in I just had a bad feeling. We arrived a little after 4 and there were only 2 tables that were filled in the entire restaurant and yet when the not so hospitable hostesses asked us how many in our party, they asked our name to add to their 'list". My sister just kept giving me that "behave yourself look" as I looked past them into the dining room that was eerily empty so much so I expected to see a tumbleweed blow by at any moment. So, after finding us a table in the oh so crowded restaurant the hostess asks us to follow her and leads us to a table right by the server area which is usually a high traffic area but since I noticed that the very nice table by the fireplace was open I asked to be seated there. She gave me a look to kill but begrudgingly allowed us to sit there, gave us our menus then stormed off, clearly having to return to pressing matters at the hostess stand. Our server, whose name I can't remember right now was nice and fairly knowledgeable about the menu and made sure we had everything we needed. Now, about the meal ' Appetizer: My mom got the shrimp cocktail which she enjoyed but I don't think it was even close to being worth it, and if I'm paying $15 for a few shrimp would it be too terribly difficult to put the horseradish in a dish separate from the cocktail sauce? My sister and I shared the Whiskey Shrimp on Country toast which was ok but I think it would have been nice to list onions in the menu description and I had to add salt because it was bland otherwise. Dinner: My mom got the prime rib and garlic mashed potatoes, both she loved. I got the Steak Marinato which was not only awful but inedible, so much so that our 2 golden retrievers refused to eat it when we got home. I ordered it medium rare and it came out grayish and well done. The madeira sauce was overwhelming and just awful, our server had told me it was a sweeter dish with wine but I would have to imagine that the wine they are using is sold by the box. I had asked for blue cheese crumbles on the side but even that couldn't help enough to allow me to eat the steak. The garlic mashed potatoes had a good taste but were lukewarm as was the broccoli. My sister got the Trio of Filet Medallions and the only one out of the three that she could eat was the Oscar, although her filets were cooked the way I had requested which was medium rare and she had ordered medium well. She gave me her Madeira filet but even cooked properly I just couldn't get past the overwhelming taste and smell so that too went into the to-go box for the pups. The only reason that we didn't send our meals back was because we didn't want to make our mom feel uncomfortable or feel bad about her restaurant choice, however, I used to manage a very busy and well known seafood restaurant in Linthicum and if one of my servers had noticed that one of their customers had barely touched their meal I would have expected them to ask if everything was okay, our server never did, choosing, I suppose to ignore the situation and hope we didn't bring it up which we didn't for the reason I already stated. I did enjoy not only the rolls but the buttery spread that was served with them. This not so great experience has just shown me further proof that I should always go with my first instinct which had been to order the Sliced Tenderloin steak sandwich, at least then I wouldn't have left the restaurant hungry. Upon leaving one of the hostesses did tell us to have a nice day but since they were all just standing there in a "lump" I was a bit surprised that at least one of them didn't attempt to open the door for us as we were leaving - hell, Outback does that when you enter and exit and they actually are a busy restaurant.

Great steaks! At first my group was a little stand offish because the looks of the place seemed ritzy and we figured you needed a suit just to take a seat. But on a Saturday night waiting 1 hour at the cheesecake factory just won't do. When stepping inside you see a huge bar, dim lights, the ambience is romantic looks perfect for a couple though big groups are welcomed. Since I love a good appetizer before my meal I was dissapointed when I didn't see mozzarella sticks or other regularly app. items. Instead I saw things like portabello mushrooms. I was dissapointed from that alone but the steak is what mattered. The wait wasn't long and when the steaks did arrive the waiter would ask that everyone cut into their steak to make sure it was to your liking. That was cool because they wanted your experience to be great as the floorman walks around making sure patrons are satisfied. At the end all 5 people agreed that was the best steak. Tender, juicy, flavorful and tender. Can't compare to any Outback s.h.

On a business trip - steaks are always on the menu. Really nice ambiance, we got the table next to the fireplace nice an cozy during this horrible winter. Friendly attentive waitress, that would be at the beginning - drinks good, appetizers good and on time and then....steaks...where 3 out of the orders were off. The thing that annoyed me, we couldn't get the waitress off of us up until the steaks arrived - and then had to hunt someone down in order to let them know that our steaks while ordered medium rare were all well done. The manager came over and comped one of the steaks and one free drink for me - horrible - a steak house getting all those orders wrong and not one stop by in the first two minutes to confirm if they were to order - amateurs. Will not be going back again.

I pulled up solo at the bar from a nice post-mall-surge steak. I was greeted by very friendly bartender/server and treated very well. They even let me charge my iPhone behind the bar during my meal. Great atmosphere - classy, relaxed, friendly. I ordered the 14 oz. rib-eye with broccoli for the complimentary side. The steak was absolutely delicious - melted in the mouth. I've learned from tons of business travel that you pay for what you get when you buy a Rib-Eye steak, or any other reputable cut. A lot of their sides also looks delicious, but I was keepin it carb-light. I also tried two glasses of their assorted red wine (Cab and Malbec), and the serving sizes were ample. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. Great spot for a great steak.

Not sure why this place only rates 3 stars - I thought it was quite good, although pricey. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this restaurant - the décor, lighting and seating layout meets 100% with my approval. I ordered a steak (big surprise) and it was cooked about as well as you can cook a filet. Medium rare and quite perfect. Family all liked their entrees. I will definitely return, although like another place I love (Miss Shirley's) it is relegated to one of our special places as the check for a family of four can get up there, and we typically like to order the more expensive signature dishes at such establishments. --- UPDATE --- We went to Stoney River 2 more times and both times were DISASTERS. Second trip 3 out of 4 steaks were cooked completely wrong, i.e. my son ordered medium well and the steak came out burned black on top and red and rare in the middle. Tried one time after that and another disaster with 2 out of 4 steaks returned, and one was re-cooked and was just not good. They only cooked one of the steaks correctly. Also noticed on a Friday night at prime time, there were only a smattering of tables in the restaurant. People must clearly be getting the word out. I just can't understand it - if I have a business with the word "steak" in it - then the steaks that I serve had better be cooked RIGHT THE FIRST TIME ... EVERY TIME. I mean that is what the place is all about right? It isn't called Stoney River Legendary Pasta! And it's obvious they sunk a ton of money into the place ... it has a fabulous interior. I could fix their problem in a few days. Their managers must be an incompetent bunch. A recent culinary grad could probably solve their problem. I think they probably need to stop hiring line cooks from Rd Lobster and get the problem fixed before they're forced to close their doors.

Ok. So first off, the only reason why we went here was because Cheesecake Factory had an hour and a half wait and this place had no wait. Second, the rolls were very delicious. That was where the good stopped. I ordered a 16 oz New York Strip steak with a mashed potato side. I will be completely honest, the mashed potatoes were excellent. The steak however, was one of the worth steaks I've ever had!!! I ordered it medium well, It came out probably rare or medium rare at best. But it was hard to tell because it was basically just a giant piece of fat. I maybe took 4 bites and was disgusted. Not only that, it was $32 for my meal. Now I know why no one wants to eat here. its over priced and the food is dismal. Stay far away from this place!

I had a good experience here for lunch. I wasn't over the moon but it exceeded my expectations. It has a nice upscale atmosphere with at least one booth (that i saw) with couch seating instead of booth seating which was cool! Our waiter was attentive. The food was good (steak dip sandwich, steak fries, and the buttermilk battered chicken salad). Nothing disappointed. My salad was ridiculously large which I actually won't hold against them. Yep....nothing else to say. A good solid dining experience!

My wife and I were able to find a seat at the bar tables on a busy Saturday. Her lobster bisque soup was well enjoyed. The dinner rolls are also very good here. However, when our entrees came out my coffee cured steak filet, which was ordered medium, came out well done and very dried and somewhat cold. The side of green beans were also barely cooked. For a restaurant that specializes in steak, to mess up the steak is absolutely ridiculous. I would recommend sticking with the sandwiches as they seem to be more consistent with their delivery.

I visited this place for the first time with my boyfriend and my son for my 1 year anniversary of being with my boyfriend. Originally we were going to eat at Cheesecake Factory but they had a longer wait so we chose Stoney River. It has a nice atmosphere and very friendly waiter service. The food was delicious. Most of the entrees are a bit pricey for me but the appetizers, soups and salads seemed to be priced comparable to other restaurants. I think the kids menu needs some more choices. I had to order from the regular menu for my 10 year old son.

I finally made my way back here for dinner and this place really does nothing for me. First off, I'm not sure if they were understaffed or if they were just being pretentious but the dining area was (maybe) a third full and they still asked us to wait at the bar for approximately 20 mins. This pretty much set the tone for the service we would receive. When we were finally seated, it took an exceptionally long time for anyone to even greet us. Our waiter messed up on the sides slightly and when brought to his attention, he almost half grunted and made his way back to the kitchen to bring out the correct ones. Then, after paying no attention to us the entire time we dined on our entrees, the server was so quick to clear our table, that he grabbed the side plates with our requested sides and stacked them together rather than boxing them up with what we didn't finish. As for the food, while price point is somewhat comparable to Ruth's Chris and Capital Grille, it's no where close in quality. I'd say to spend the extra few dollars and head to one of these tried and true places. Or, since we're in a recession and all, save a few bucks and head over to Outback. Either way, you can't lose. The lobster bisque was disappointing - they were heavy handed with the cognac, which overpowered everything. The filet and strip steaks were nothing to write home about, while the roasted chicken was good but still quite pink close to the bone. I had the ahi tuna seared with the the soy ginger sauces and it was wasn't memorable at all. Honestly, I think the best part of the meal was the little poppy seed rolls they give you. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience. There are far too many good steak restaurants in town to settle for this mediocre one.

This is my second time coming here, and I'm still impressed! My favorite appetizers are the crunchy ahi tuna roll & fried lobster tail which I devoted before I got to take a picture of but believe me they are both A M A Z I N G!!! The service is always prompt. The first time I came I tried the coffee cured steak which was really good, this time I am having the steak burger! The Mac an Cheese is my favorite side it's to die for! They also have amazing martinis which are a great size! I love this place

Went to Stoney River today- great restaurant. The steaks are great, and the wait was not too long. It was a little busy for the middle of the week, but I can understand why. The cakes are awesome, but they are stuffed with calories lol

The service was pretty fast, great wait staff, I had to send my ribs back because it was too chard, but was very satisfied when the staff was very accommodating for replacing it and continued to see if everything was still good. I love this place.

We did drinks & food at the bar. Service and atmosphere was excellent. The menu is limited not much seafood (0 seafood meals) or chicken (1 chicken meal) but hey it's a steakhouse. I picked a 'jumbo lump crab-cake' from the appetizer & asparagus as a side. The crab cake was mainly filler and the asparagus was a jumbo tasteless veggie. The drink was on point.

For starters we arrived on time for our 5:45 reservation but weren't seated until 6:30.. what's the point in making a ressie?? Seated AT the bar is a couple with their 2 under the age of 3 yrs old children!! They were told twice that kids aren't allowed at the bar, yet they weren't forced to move either, so they stayed and enjoyed two drinks... Ok, once seated we had the unfortunate pleasure of having Paige as our waitress.. Paige was rude and appeared to be uninterested in waiting on anyone, therefore we informed one of the manager's and were given a new waitress... New one was friendly but inattentive... We had to wait for dressing for our wedge salad..and wait, and wait, and....wait. Our rolls arrive squished as if someone had squeezed the heck out of each one of them... Again we informed the manager and was given a new batch... I ordered the Prime Burger medium well with no bun... Of course it arrives well done AND with a bun! On my second bite of my burger, I felt something firm and rigid in my mouth... I pull it out and it is the hard end plastic piece found on the end of certain rolls, onions, and/or potato sacks!!!! Wth... Again manager is informed and offers me a new burger... At this point I'm just nervous about getting anything else from this shameful kitchen, but alas I agree to a new burger... Waitress FINALLY brings the dressing for our salad we order 30 minutes prior!! Sigh... New burger comes and I taste just a corner...it was good but my nerves wouldn't allow me to taste anymore of it... Too afraid of what I might find... Waitress comes back to inform us that dinner is on the house and to please order dessert as well.. We did.. We ordered one slice of Key Lime Pie...yikes what a mistake.... That is one nasty, tasteless, over-crusted disaster!!! Stoney River needs to be renamed STORMY RIVERS.!! Proceed with caution.!! That was our 4th and FINAL visit.!!

I am a regular here. Not that it is a spectacular place to visit often but it is convenient for me when I get off from work and meet up with my family. However, the environment is warm and welcoming and the service is better than it used to be. I have tried multiple items on the menu including the coffee cured filet, Panko shrimp, salmon, and the prime burger. I must say that even though this is a steakhouse that I will probably not order another steak from here but overall I can live with the rest.

They may have served me the best steak I've ever eaten in my life tonight. The 22oz. Cowboy Cut Ribeye was amazingly good. Medium Rare was right on the money and it could not have been seasoned better. The marbled meat is making my mouth water again just thinking about it. My date had the 10oz. Burger with Gruyere cheese and carmelized onions and she also enjoyed her meal very much. Her favorite part, however, was the dessert. Stoney River Fudge Cake was a great and decadent way to finish our meal. They left a great first impression on us and we WILL be returning! Also: My Beagle approves of the ribeye bone I brought home for him as well.

This place was over priced and badly cooked. When we first sat down there was some confusion over tables and so we changed tables. The appetizer of spinach dip with cheese toast was good. We were pleased with that and the quick service. This lasted until our meal came out. My husband's coffee-marinated steak came out dry and under cooked. The Szechuan salmon was over cooked and the sauce was a salty spicy mess. The rice that accompanied the salmon was very salty and the asparagus was under cooked and still hard and woody. After complaining to the manager about the food. The manager gave us a free dessert, but no offers to fix our meal. The key lime pie tasted like lemon-lime dish soap. We paid our bill and left. We will not go back.

I eat at this steakhouse quite often due to the convenient location and being able to easily get a table without a reservation. The price point is between an Outback and a Ruth Chris or Morton's and that is about how it ranks. Very good but not great steaks and fish at a reasonable price. Much better than an Outback but not quite up to Ruth Chris standards. The atmosphere is very warm and relaxing and the service has never been anything less than friendly and attentive.

Ok I was a big fan until I recently had a burger that did not taste too fresh. Sent it back of course. However, not being a huge fan of steaks my son had the ribeye and it was delicious.

I have been here several times. The steaks are delicious. The carmelized onion mashed potatoes are AMAZING! One of the few restaurants that still give cake whn celebrating birthdays. OMG the chocolate ganache cake is so decadent. It's not stuffy. It has the right mix. Great place for dinner. Skip the Cheese Zfactory, eat here.

Stoney River has my absolute favorite Filet Mignon portion I have ever had and I am aware of quality steak having eaten at every top restaurant in Baltimore and Atlantic City. The coffee cured filet mignon is the best that it gets. If you are not a coffee fan have no fear. The coffee taste is almost non-existent. At $32 this steak owns ruth chris.

I'm not impressed after just one visit. Our waiter was stretched so thin that we felt alone. However the management was really nice and understanding. Food wise I think they are pretty good but then again, Outback is in the same field.

I went there with the family tonight. We ordered 1 10 oz Filet and 2 14 oz Rib eye steaks for our entrees. All were supposed to be cooked to Medium. The 2 rib eyes were rare as well as the Filet. The quality of these steaks is poor and the taste and texture reflects this. I felt as though I had arrived at a low end chain restaurant. For the price they charge $30.00 each for a 14 oz rib eye and $32.00 for a 10 oz. Filet these steaks should have been prime beef and instead they tasted "gamey". I returned the filet because the after taste and excessive spice and butter on it was sickening after a couple bites. I also think they use meat tenderizer and that may contribute to the "off taste". I requested my steak be replaced with the 14 oz Rib eye that the rest of the family was eating. I also changed out the garlic mashed which tasted very imitation. I received my replacement steak shortly after and was astonished to see that it was not at all like the other 2 rib eyes on the table. It was much thinner and this time med well. It had the consistency and taste of a sirloin steak!!! At this point we decided to just move on and never come back here again. The best thing that we had was the lobster bisque and the wedge salad. Perhaps this explains why at 6:45pm on a Friday night there is absolutely no wait, while Cheesecake Factory has a 30 minute wait. Don't waste your money here. Overpriced and not good quality beef.

Coffee cured steak tasted good but was not cooked as requested med rare. More like well done. String Beans were way over cooked and rubbery. I wanted to try something different today so we came here. I can and do cook better than what was served to us today. I will not come back or recommend it to friends. For 70.00 you can find much better food than here.

My son and I were visting and this seemed like a good place for Steaks - as the name implies, Legendary. We were not disappointed and quite pleased with everything from the service and the food. The steak was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were outstanding. My son had the ground steak burger and it was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted.

I haven't eaten at this restaurant myself, but I have to tell you that the service at this restaurant is stellar! Last week, my parents celebrated their 30th anniversary and went to Stoney River for a celebratory dinner. I live 500 miles away in Charlotte, and wanted to surprise my parents with a champagne toast and bottle of wine to accompany their dinner. I called the restaurant and asked if they would be willing to help me with this request, and they were extremely helpful and accommodating. Because it was a weeknight, my parents didn't make a reservation, so I had to give the staff descriptions of my parents to keep an eye out for them...so not to ruin the surprise. Well- everything went off without a hitch. My parents were so pleased and had a wonderful dinner at Stoney River. I did not expect this type of service from a chain type restaurant! I will be sure to come in for dinner next time I am in town! :) Kudos to Stoney River and a great staff!! You guys rock.

YAY a steakhouse in Towson! I've been to Stoney River many times and have never been disappointed. I love the way the restaurant looks inside; rustic yet classy with super high ceilings, nice wood details, and a large fireplace. I feel comfortable here in a dress or a pair of jeans. Service is usually prompt and attentive. We've had some awkward or slower nights, but never anything egregious. The main reason I love Stoney River is the food! The little fried dough rolls they serve before the meal are amazingly delicious. It requires a great effort for me not to fill up on these. We've enjoyed every appetizer we've tried (blue cheese chips, spinach and artichoke dip, ahi tuna roll, tomato and mozz). My favorite thing to get for dinner is the coffee cured filet. It's tender and flavorful and juicy and delicious. Over our many visits, there have been one or two snafus with things taking too long or steaks being over/under cooked, but all have been immediately remedied when brought to the server's attention. The management here seems very willing to keep customers satisfied. I think the side dishes are amazingly delicious too. The caramelized onion mashed potatoes are my absolute favorite. The au gratin potatoes are great too. The green beans are always crispy and fresh and delicious. Basically, this is one of my favorite places to get a steak dinner, period. I always leave feeling satisfied and happy.

I sat at a bar table, the wait was only a few minutes on a Saturday night. The Yelp reviews were mixed but I thought I'd take my chances. I'm glad that I did. I had the New England Lobster Bisque and The Wedge, Very good! My friend had crunchy ahi tuna roll, and of course I stole a bite...yummy! The bartender was also our server and suggested that we try the Murphy-Goode and the Martin Codax wine, also very good. Overall a nice experience. I'll be returning for their happy hour menu between 4 and 7 for sure!

I was here for happy hour... Fantastic specials... A glass of wine and a burger for 11 bucks!! can't beat that! I also recommended here for my department's holiday celebration party and it was very, very well received. It's a chain but a very pleasant hidden gem.

I drove by this place last night and I thought back to the terrible dinner we had recently and I should make others beware. Had a group of 10 in a private room for a birthday dinner. Worst service ever. Had to return 2 steaks that were fatty. Room was cold. The TV (NFL game was on) was so poorly connected it was in snowy black and white (too bad it wasn't Packers-Bears). Did I mention the service? Awful. Yikes, what a terrible choice it was.

Went there last night because I had a $20 coupon. The place is nicely decorated and not terribly crowded for a Sunday night. They made us wait for 5-10 minutes despite an ample number of empty tables. Our server was nice, polite, but seemed a bit insincere. It seemed like he was using a script while talking to us and didn't really care what we were saying. Anyways, we ordered the whiskey shrimp over toast and the spinach artichoke appetizer. The artichoke appetizer was a bit cold and lacked any real flavor. The shrimp over toast was quite tasty and worth ordering again. My friend ordered the lobster bisque which he said was pretty tasty. I had the 12 oz filet, medium rare, he had the 16 oz prime rib. Both were appropriately cooked and the sides, broccoli and sweet potatoe were just average. The service was average and insincere. This place is right in between Outback and Capital Grill. Save yourself money and go to Outback, or spend a little more and get a great meal, great service at the Cap. Grille.

We always have a great time here and I cannot really put my finger on why...nothing is exceptional but nothing is disappointing. They have an amazing ability to constantly deliver good food, good service and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps us coming back. I enjoy the prime rib that they are happy to super size for an additional fee. It is very tasty. My wife enjoys their steak salad and my son the kid's sirloin with closing hot fudge Sunday. All this with a $20 off coupon that they regularly issue and we are satisfied all around. Yeah, we have driven downtown, valet parked, went to fancier steakhouses, got the stares for bring a six year old, had an admittedly better grade of meat and paid at least twice as much for the experience. More often than not...we skip all that and head to Stoney and have pretty much the same great time for a lot less money and hassle.

Over all food was good! Steaks were good. Lobster appetizer was small for almost $17! Nice wine selection.

Food was over cooked, dry & lacking flavor! This includes being extremely over priced!

Have been here several times and always enjoyed it, so this review is for my most recent visit. Came here for my boyfriend's birthday and it was a horrible experience from start to finish. I called the day before to make a reservation, which as others have stated, they call "priority seating." The gentleman I spoke with on the phone asked if it was a special occasion and i told him it was a birthday. When we got there, my name was NOT on the list. Hostess said we would be seated within 20 minutes. 30 minutes passed and no table. When I saw people coming in after me and being seated immediately, I asked to speak to the manager. One came over and said that he was the one I spoke to on the phone, apologized and got us a nice table in corner booth right away. Great! or so I thought. Our waiter ADOLPHUS was unfriendly, uncouth & completely lacking in any social graces. He has NO reason working in the hospitality business. He gave us the wine list and stood there until we decided, rather than giving us a minute to decide & returning. We ordered wine and when he returned, he emptied the bottle into the glass, which was only 1/3 full, then departed. I was expecting him to return with another bottle, but when he did, he had no wine. I asked him about the amount of wine and his response was, "that's 'our' glass, I actually gave you more than I should have." Very nice, right? NOT! So we ordered: Carpaccio appetizer, Cowboy Ribeye (MR) & Legendary Filet (M). We were only halfway through the appetizer when the entrees arrived, brought by a table runner rather than Adolphus. The M was waaay more rare than the MR, so we sent it back. When it returned, it was cooked alright but the potatoes were cold & quite honestly the Legendary Filet was completely without flavor. The waiter NEVER stopped by to ask how anything was & never brought us any water either, he pretty much ignored us the entire time. We sat there for a long time with unfinished food in front of us. He eventually stopped by and we told him we needed boxes. Now, everytime i've been there, i've ALWAYS been asked if it was a special occasion. As i said above, when i made the reservation, the person I spoke with did ask me and i told them it was a birthday. ADOLPHUS never asked that at any point. Usually, our waiter always brought a complimentary slice of their chocolate ganache cake. Not this time. So when he brought the boxes, he grunted to us "You want dessert????" It felt like the rudest question I've ever been asked in a restaurant...like he couldn't wait for us to leave. We had minimal interaction with him the whole time and there was no reason to treat us that way. At that point, I just wanted to get the "F" out of there, so I asked for the check. Now, I almost always tip 20% or more, because I've worked as a waiter, but not this time. I had a $20 off coupon, and I know protocol is to tip on the total before discount. This time I only tipped 15% after discount, and honestly, I felt that was too much. So not only did we not get the complimentary birthday dessert, but no offer of a free round of drinks or appetizer to compensate for losing our reservation! After I paid, I saw another manager whom I've seen there before and related the whole experience above and he was horrified. He asked if I had paid, as he wanted to pick up the total tab. I told him that I had and he then gave me a gift card funded for $100 to come back and give them another chance. That was most appreciated, but I still feel the need to document this experience for other diners. While speaking to the manager, my bf was waiting for me by the entrance and overheard the hostesses speaking amongst themselves, saying 'oh, he's talking to Bobby, i wonder what's wrong now???' I hope the unprofessional behavior of these girls catches up with them soon and they are either fired or seriously reprimanded. In closing, let me say that we have been here several times before and ALWAYS enjoyed it, so I would encourage anyone coming here to ask for ERIC as your waiter, because he is top-notch and has always treated us wonderfully, making it a memorable occasion.

This is my go to happy hour place. You would not think that the mall steakhouse would have a decent happy hour, but you are wrong. I am a sucker for the $5 Martinis (Absolut) and the $6 appetizers. They also have $5 glasses of wine and $3 beers. I love that there are no college kids that frequent this place and as a upper 20's professional, I don't always feel like going where I can get a $1 Keystone Light... no offense Towson! If you sign up for their email list every 2 or so weeks you get a $20 off dinner for 2 and a $10 off lunch for 2 coupons making it very cost effective to get a steak or fish dinner out. I was a bit skeptical of the chain steakhouse but it has never disappointed. I have found that you get better service at the bar than at a table. The table service is a bit slow and not always on par on slower nights, but on busy nights, they are on point. (seems counter intuitive) All in all- great for an easy date night out or a happy hour after work.

I made a reservation (or priority seating, as it's called, more on that later) for my fiancé's birthday on a Saturday night since I liked the look of the menu, and it was the closest steak restaurant we had to us other than going down town. We shared the blue cheese chips, each ordered a steak (mine the fillet with horseradish crust), shared a bottle of wine and sampled the chocolate cake (which they gave us for his birthday, nice touch). Pros: When you go to a steak place, you expect good steak. Stoney River delivered on that promise. My fillet was cooked perfectly medium rare, fork tender, and didn't ooze a ton of juice when I cut into it...which means they let it rest before bringing it out. Bless them! Great flavor, great steak, yum. The portion size for the blue cheese chips was also a plus, there was more than enough for the two of us. I found the service to be friendly, if not super prompt, but they made an effort to be cordial. The ambiance was also nice for a date night; low lighting, wood tables, etc. Overall, what I would expect for a slightly upscale steak restaurant. Cons: Reservations are basically a no-go. Instead they have priority seating, so you call to put your name on that list and they guarantee that you will be seated within 20 minutes of that time. Mind you, it saves you the 1.5 hour wait you'd have if you just walked in the door, but no reservations? Even Red Robin has reservations figured out, come on. If I'm going to spend over $100 on dinner, please help me out and seat me when I walk in on time. Other than that, my gripes are minimal. The potato side that comes with your steak wasn't as big as I thought it should be (coming for Chicago, you get spoiled with big portions). That said, I was pretty full by the end of it so it would have gone to waste. Ultimately, if they had picked a better plate (the plate was HUGE compared to my fillet and potatoes), I would never have noticed. The blue cheese chips came with a warning (for blue cheese lovers only!), but didn't really deliver on that warning (tasty, but not as much cheese as they warned about). Service was a bit awkward at times, we went without water for awhile, etc. Nothing that killed the experience. Bottom line: The fiancé enjoyed his dinner, so they score points for that. Both steaks were cooked to perfection, and everything tasted wonderful. If you're looking for a nice, steak dinner date spot out in the 'burbs, then this will work just fine. They get points for food, but fall short of the 4 star mark for me due to all of the little dings that just add up (reservations, service, portion sizes, etc.). I would go back again, but will probably try another steak place first. Food and Presentation (1-5): 3.5 Ambiance and Decor (1-5): 4 Quality of Service (1-5): 3 Favorite Menu Item: The Lodge Fillet, yum! Best Suited For: Couples for date night, or friends for appies and drinks at the bar. Kid Friendly? There were families present, but it's not like they have a children's menu. Vegetarian Friendly? There were vegetarian friendly items on the menu, but it's a steak restaurant. So really, not ideal. Recommend to a friend? Yes

People that are giving this restaurant good ratings... are you sure we went to the same restaurant?!?! Or...maybe by freak coincidence we just went on a really bad night with the combination of the most horrible waiter/service and a cook who just did not give a F***!! I expect a half decently cooked steak when going to a steak house to eat some damn steak! (that was a lot of steak hehe) Especially if you are charging $26.99 for a 7 oz filet mignon! I was so captivated by the awesome description of the "Coffee-Cured Filet Mignon-Cured in our special blend of coffee, brown sugar and molasses, served with Au Gratin potatoes and sautéed green beans" How does that not sound good?? I ordered it as is, no substitutions. I went with a group of about 10 people to celebrate my future brother-in-law's birthday. I was pretty excited to find the restaurant empty on a Sunday night. Slow/empty restaurant would typically mean for excellent service...NOPE you won't find that here!! It took about 60 mins for our food to come out and most of our steaks were overcooked and one was really undercooked. One person's steak was half overcooked and the other half undercooked (WTF?!) Another person ordered salmon and it was burnt to a crisp! There was no consistency to their f**king-upness! It took our waiter 40 mins to bring my fiance's screwdriver (vodka+OJ).............. And it took him even longer to bring condiments, by the time he brought them we were already done with our food. I still did not understand why the service was so slow when our waiter only had 2-3 tables!! At least the manager came out to apologize about the crispy burnt salmon but what good is the apology if the replacement came out after everyone else was finished with their meals???? This place will be the one exception to my "try it 3 times before I put them on my black list" rule. So not worth it!

Great food, a little disorganized though. I guess I can give them a little sway because they just opened three weeks ago. Still, when I arrived there I was told there was a 100-120 minute wait..CRAAZY. But hey its Saturday night and I wanted to try the place. Located right in Towson Mall it makes it a great location to attract people from all over. Their menu is mostly meat, steaks of all kinds, filets, strips, and other cuts. A little pricey but hey, thats what your going to find at any steakhouse anywhere. I ordered their 8oz filet, medium well, Ended up coming out more well than anything but the flavour was still great. My parents ordered their panko shrimp and the salmon. Not steak, but still quite tasty. My only problem was that early on in my meal I ordered a cup of their lobster bisque and ...sadly it never came until it was mentioned to the waitress. But after waiting I got a whole bowl of soup and they took it off the bill! If your a steak fan I would def . come here. Maybe next time I will go with medium rather than medium well...

I really like this restaurant. Most of the time I can walk in and be seated. I don't think I have ever had a bad experience there. I would recommend checking it out if you are in the Towson mall.

So I was invited out to have a drink with my friend and her workmate, so it was more about the company versus the food or atmosphere, but you know me.......what's even more important than food or atmosphere is CUSTOMER service! It was my first time at Stoney River, and I was impressed as soon as I drove up. Parking was a little hectic. You can valet for $5.00 (which I would suggest), if not you'll drive round and round the magical parking lot for what would seem like FOREVER! I finally found a spot and walked downstairs to Stoney River. The decor is very nice and upscale....it's almost one of those spots where you tend to whisper! I didn't have anything to eat....just jumped straight to the drinking part of the evening. (don't judge me) I bellied up to the bar and was originally going to order a Merlot and fit in with the posh crowd but then I was like why....let's just be me. I asked the bartender what they had on tap, his response was...."we don't." I think I would have been ok if he would have coupled that with, but we do have, yadda, yadda, yadda, but that didn't happen. I ordered a vodka and cranberry as a substitute. I asked if he could switch one of the televisions to TNT for the Laker game and you would have thought I asked him for a kidney. Rather than taking the time to ensure things were ok, there was a huge box blocking the view of the station. When I asked if he could press the ok button so I can view the channel versus the message from DIRECTV, you would have thought I asked for the second kidney. This is where things get even better, I finished my drink and was hoping to get another, the bartender looked me dead in my face, then turned away. He then when to about 3 tables, loaded the dishwasher and put on an order for food. He then looked up at me once more, then turned away again. It got so bad, I sat there with an empty glass for about 20 minutes. Finally my friend who invited me saw that I was getting a little annoyed and flagged the guy over, but should I have to beg for a drink at a bar? The bartender, who will not remain nameless....Justin......was awful. Thank goodness for the lively crowd of patrons at the bar and the manager Bobby who lightened the mood. If you go to Stoney River and he's at the bar.....in the words of Ghost Face Killa......."Run!"

Good place for a mall. Casual steak joint. Has typical steak house fare. Slightly overpriced due to location but still better then other places in the mall. If your looking for just drinks go across the street to razorbacks.

Stick with the steak. The combination of spices they put on the steak is delicious. Some of the other dishes I've had are not as good. The decor is nice.

Wait one hour for two hamburgers? 14 dollars and below average quality? They came to us somewhat lukewarm... It was our third visit to the place, food was average or below all three times (steaks are nothing to talk about, BTW), but that third visit did it. Not a good place.

Went tonight for a birthday dinner. As someone who cooks for a living and works in a decent restaurant the food was ehhh. We started with the blue-cheese chips, which I had high hopes for since I love good blue cheese but I was pretty disappointed they had a very bland flavor and you really had to try hard to taste the cheese. Oh well onto the soup and I ordered the 12 hour onion soup. What they failed to mention was that the onions had been soaked in salt for 12 hours before making the soup out of them. Also it would have been nice if the soups for the entire table had come out before our meals did. So onto the steaks, I ordered the prime rib which I normally love however this one looked and tasted just like Outback but with a much higher price tag. I did appreciate them getting the temperature of the meat correct though, so they do get some points for that. Dessert came out and it was a triple layer chocolate cake with a ganache filling. Well.....dessert if my thing at the restaurant and this one was dry, not even the ganache saved it from being too dry. I think this cake had been sitting around in the frig a little too long. Overall, not the worst steak place around not the best either. It's definitely not worth waiting any amount of time for.

The steaks here are amazing. Better than Ruth's Chris. The service is impeccable. The atmosphere is very cozy and homey. The coffee crusted filet is so tender and unlike anything else. The bread the give you to snack on is so good! I love this place

I had heard about Stoney River and decided to give it a try, even though Ruth's Chris and Capital Grille are my faves. We started with the bleu cheese chips and they were amazing!! It was very rich and the portion was so big, my friend and I couldn't finish it all. Next I ordered the coffee rubbed fillet Mignon and Au gratin potatoes. To my surprise, the steak was still juicy even though I ordered it well done and the potatoes were great but not enough. I finished my meal with the 6 layer fudge cake and it is MASSIVE. At least 3 people can share this cake. Overall it was OK and I'd probably come back at some point in time but I still say that Ruth's Chris and Capital Grille are better.

I saw several Orioles jerseys which shows this place has the Blue collar citizens in mind as well. .

  • Rich W.

yeah they do make a big deal about whether you have a reservation or not.

Brought my family to this franchise steak house. The food was average a little better than Lone Star steakhouse but not great. The server was very good. She was very attentive and quickly resolved any issues. Price was fair but no sizzle. The dessert was the best part of the meal.

Great food, great atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. Would definitely go back. The blue cheese potato chips are amazing!

  • Edwin M.

I really enjoyed the garlic mash potatoes and the coffee bean cured filet. A great place for a nice dinner, but be prepared to spend some money. The dinner is worth the money, but this is no Outback.

This is a regular place for us, great service and excellent food. The dinner rolls are amazing with the flavored butter, lobster bisque is out of this world and the coffee crusted filet is to die for. We have dined here many times and have always had a fantastic experience.
