This place is pretty cool. Came here on a Friday night and it was not horribly crowded like other Towson bars. They have Boh and Raven beer on tap, which is *always* a good thing in my book!

The "fri" problem was fixed; it's safe to come back to the Kent, people.

The Kent is a nice place to go if you enjoy more of the company of the guest you are dining or drinking with. The bar is themed and very home like. It has unconventional seating which sets the tone for a more intimate time with your guests, which I thoroughly love. I personally can't stand that strip on York road when all the college riff raff "aka" children are galavanting around the streets, crowding bars with their underage friends and just acting like drunk fools. The Kent house does not really partake in the festivities that torrent and green turtle promote which is great. It gives you a chance to enjoy the nighthawk with a more laid back cliental base. The Kent doesn't allow the overly drunk individuals to cause issues and such. The drinks are def great and they are reasonably priced. I was introduced to the Kent by a coworker of mine who shares the same views on bars. I would defiantly recommend the Kent for a nice drink or meal over some of the other options that you may have on this street.

I have to say, I was left wanting more. Our bartender was awesome -- thanks, guy in the Man Utd kit! -- but the rest of the staff left something to be desired. The food tasted like it was defrosted and then microwaved. Definitely not fresh. Any bar that claims to be Irish should definitely have more than the stereotypical beers, and there wasn't much of a selection beyond your obvious Smithwick's, Guinness, and Magners. Finally, the patrons. Every bar has a bad night. I get that. But when you have two customers who are clearly under the influence (and not just of alcohol), you should probably not continue to serve them...especially after you've just pulled them out of the bathroom that they were having sex in. Towson doesn't have much of a nightlife compared to its more metropolitan neighbor, so the bar was set low. Kent House still managed to trip itself up.

If you want a local color kind of pub in Towson, this is a nice, low-key place. There are plenty of others, but this has a nice family-owned feel with loyal regulars. Nice euro feel.

I have been here a few times for drinks w friends, and I will come back for drinks, but the food is atrocious. I got a Reuben, a friend got the mac and cheese, and another got chicken strips. Another person asked me how the Reuben was, and I said "...I can't recommend it to a friend." The meat was cut in impossibly thick slices and you couldn't take a bite without pulling the meat out. Hardly any sauerkraut (the best part) and way too much Thousand Island. It was really disappointing, particularly since it was around $10. If I order a $10 sandwich, I have decent expectations for it. Come on. I left at least 3/4 behind and drank 2 Harp instead. Doesn't have that great of HH specials IMO. But I like the layout of the bar and all the little tables to hang out at. Not sure why they have cocktail waiters....

I would come back if I lived in the area! We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious! The bbq sauce looks kind of creamy but it's honestly really good tasting. The coleslaw that came with it was very vinegary. The waitress we had, was also named Heather, was smoking hot and wore a half skin tight black t-shirt with no real back to it... yea... I'll be back!

Me: 29 year old, who was born and raised in Towson, coming up to visit a friend from where I currently live down near DC. My friend suggested we go out and get a beer or two, and we decided to go here, which I had only been to a few times in the past as I didn't drink much in my youth. When we got there, the bartender asked to see our IDs. After looking at my Maryland state ID for about a full minute, the bartender walked over to talk to one of the bouncers. He then came back to me and said he needed to see a different form of identification. Incredulously, I stated - and I did not raise my voice when I said this - "Are you F#@king kidding me?" (as a 29 year old with a drivers license with no damage to it issued in the state the bar was in, I was blown away by the notion that two employees could be so inept). The bartender then literally screamed at me "get the fuck out of my bar" and threw my license at my face. Easily the most unprofessional, incompetent employee I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with in my life. No comment on the drinks, as I ended up going next door to Torrent, which had an ambiance I didn't enjoy as much, but didn't have employees throwing things at me, which is a plus. Hopefully if you go here the experience won't be ruined by horrible employees.

This was the second stop on our bus tour after S&J Crabranch. They aren't getting 5 stars because they were out of the calamari and I'm pretty sure we never got the cheese platter we ordered. However, the pulled pork was amazing! The sauce had a good spice to it and sweet as well. Just the right balance. The fries were also really good. As much as I love anything carb, I don't usually comment on fries because well, fried potatoes are fried potatoes but they were really good. If I lived in Towson, I'd probably go back.

This was the first bar I tried to go to in Baltimore and the first bar I've ever been kicked out of. A few days before I came to Baltimore I had to renew my ID. In Oregon, like many other states they give you a temporary paper ID and hole punch your old one to carry with you as a second form of ID until you receive your plastic ID in the mail. The young girl at the bar was unfamiliar with a paper ID so I handed her my hole punched ID as well which she then handed it to the other bar tender for further inspection. He scanned it and told me it didn't scan and there were too many "discrepancies" between my two ID's one of which being that it was hole punched. I have no clue why my old one didn't scan because it was not yet expired...on top of that why he was acting so confused about an old hole punched ID which I later found out is something that Maryland does as well! I offered to show him the many cards in my wallet with my name but he shot it down quickly. Being that I was going to turn 27 the next day and didn't have any problem traveling with my paper ID I was pretty upset. This same guy, a 30ish man with short light brown hair and a small amount of facial hair yelled at me to get out and ruined my birthday night and first time going out in Towson. Being that I have a Oregon state liquor license and have worked in bars I could tell this guy was (obviously) inexperienced and uneducated about ID's or handling these types of situations. I say this because if he in fact thought that I had a fake he should have taken my ID's and called the police. Luckily, for my traveling purposes he handed it back...but part of me really wished he called the cops so I could have seen the look on his face when they told him I was totally legit. You owe me a drink asshole. Don't go here...go down the street to Green Turtle! Super friendly and awesome unlike this place.

Other reviewers agree that this is a great place to go and hang out with your friends. Homey, good places to sit, good collection of beers and I'm really excited by the savory pies they have there. We had the fish and chips and it was not regular old fish, but a nice cut and the fries were tasty. Once I try the pies, and if they are good, I'm totally upping this to a 4 star.

By the time we made it here, my friends who frequent this place were PLASTERED. Not one of them remembered a thing they said that night. I have a curse, no matter what, even if I blackout, I remember everything lol This is an Ok spot. Service sucks, bathroom needs extra cleaning and there is something missing. I am not being harsh, it just seems any reviewer despite having a good time here gives it 3 stars. I strongly think the Kent Lounge need a makeover, better music, attentive bartenders and a more welcoming atmosphere.

Ok pub. Nothing special on tap, or in the kitchen. Corned beef Reuben was eh. Come for beers, and stay for beers. Eat elsewhere.

A little bit of everything... Nice quaint college pub with a small but decent pub fare. The crowd definitely transforms as the night rolls on. Expect a nice variety of professionals and a few college kids before 10 and no holds barred after that. Service was great and attentive. Check them out

Ooooh, the good old Kent. This was the very first bar my friends and I began frequenting when we were of legal drinking age (...ha) so it's no doubt I have very fond memories of the place. It is totally one of those "everybody knows your name bars," or it used to be for me. Recently, when I went in there everyone looked to me like they were 12 years old, though, and I realized I must've outgrown the Kent. I have great memories of the place and I'd still go there for a couple drinks and some good bar food. It's not really a dive bar, but it's certainly the diviest of the Towson bars right around that area which is why it was always our favorite. Not much has changed at the good old Kent and I hope it never does!

For all the flack The Kent receives for being a hotspot for the area's underage drinkers, the place is not all bad. People can sit at the bar, stand, or sit at tables with their cheap beers and mixed drinks. They have an alright beer selection by college/dive bar standards and aim to please you drinking needs.

In response to the one and only review, the Kent was and probably still is a hot spot for under agers. I always always got in with my fake and then when I was legal, half the people always looked like they were in HS. The bar was ehhh. Whenever they had beers on special, they always ran out before we even got there. I mean, who gets to the bar before 11? Anyway, it was a decent bar to go to if we just wanted to sit in a booth and chat. The music was always hit or miss, occasionally there was a DJ depending on the night. The only thing I ever really liked about the Kent was their LITs. They were nice and strong yet I never could taste the alcohol. Perfection in a cup.

I don't hang out in Towson very often, but the few times I was here The Kent seemed liked a decent enough bar. Nothing particularly special, but nothing wrong with it either. They have Newcastle on tap which is always a plus.

In the high-school time machine that is the Towson bar scene, the Kent offers somewhat of a reprieve from the HSers-cum-townies and the voyeuristic Towson expats who like to check in once or twice a year. It seems to self-select for more chill, laid-back people, i.e. the Kent never struck me as a singles' bar like say, the Green Turtle or CVP. However, as a general rule all desire to frequent such an establishment should fade by the time you reach 23. Then you'll find yourself gravitating towards Federal Hill or Mt. Vernon or Charles North, depending on your worldview.

Very cool place...to hangout. Lots of room to sit and chat....They have a very limited food menu but pizzas are very good... yeah there was no ID check when we entered...so I think that might be a reason for a lot of under-agers!..

The Kent is awesome! when I was 16 I would drink here and now Im 23 and still go. Its dark, plays good music, and the bartenders are pretty legit. Its a great place to go with friends or to pick up underage girls. :) thats a joke........
