After making several stops at restaurants in Salisbury that were either closed, didn't let you sit at their vacant tables, or didn't serve children, we were very pleased to find a restaurant that wanted our business. We were starving by then and ordered the bread stuffed with cheese and a pizza. The appetizer was HUGE and was certainly enough to feed all four if us. The pizza was pretty good, too. Cons- it was freezing in there. I always carry sweaters for the kids and myself, but we really needed something warmer. It took a long time for the food to come out. And, the waitress didn't bring a dish for our 2 year old. We of course asked for one, and she brought us what she called an "extra" dish. Ok, that last part is just a personal pet peeve of mine, but I find it to be rude to not include the kids in the meal. Anyway, as we were leaving there was a band setting up, so it might be a fun place to hang out later.

I'm a huge fan of the pizza at La Roma. Typically when I make it back to Salisbury, we will get it as takeout one night. In my past few experiences, the quoted wait times for takeout pizza has been either grossly underestimated or grossly overestimated. However, although I am a huge fan of their pizza, it's not worth either having to go home and reheat the pizza or sit at the bar, have a drink, and still wait for the pizza. However, the staff has always been extremely friendly and frequently the manager compensates for the missed quote. The pizza is divine and the crust is so chewy (my favorite). I can't say I've really ate anything else from there mostly because the restaurant decor needs to come into the 21st century. Everything just looks so old.

You want fresh, quality Italian in Salisbury this is it. Not chain slapped together pretend-to-be, not frozen nuked Greek Italian ("let me know if it's not warm enough, I can nuke it a little longer" she says). Vinny greets everyone with an enthusiastic smile and will fix anything you want if it's not on the menu. A local place with locals pricing and atmosphere. Definitely going to keep going back.

Vinny's is my favorite Italian place in town. Why? Because it has such local feel to it, and solid food. Come here a few times and Vinny will probably start remembering you, and might even buy you a drink. I've never really had a bad meal here. The best menu items are: any pizza, black n bleu chicken (favorite), salmon piccata, cannolis (yum). Their bread is fresh and warm. Salads are nice too. (-1) star for decor (dated), a sub-par lasagna one time (out of ordering this dish multiple times), and the occasional service foible. Overall, Vinny's is the perfect place to sit down with family or a group or friends, pop a bottle of Chianti, and enjoy a nice tasty meal. Are there better Italian places? Sure there are, but nothing's quite like the experience you can get at Vinny's.

I've gone to Vinny's a number of times and have always had a really good experience. A lot of people are complaining about the service and maybe sometimes our waitress has been a little slow or something but certainly not a reason for us not to go back. The lobster ravioli were killer and my usual there is the chicken fettuccine alfredo which never disappoints. Usually enough to take some home as well. I try not to hate on a restaurant just because the server may be having a bad day. The food is good so we'll certainly be keeping on our list of places to dine.

I've never been that impressed with Vinny's La Roma. The food is good, but nothing special. The portions were generous and the service was decent. It's been a while since I've been, so I don't remember all the details, I just know we weren't impressed enough to return.

Had dinner there tonight and was disappointed. Have had good meals there in the past but the place just seems tired. The decor is not bad but there are things that just scream for attention. There is a ceiling tile missing exposing ac/heat duct work. The tile is what..maybe a couple of bucks to replace yet this attention to detail is ignored. The carpet is just plain worn and in need of replacing. Tables around us had dirty tablecloths as did ours, and we ate early so we could catch a baseball game. I had the lasagna and the tomato sauce had that water look and the lasagna was served in a bowl. I have never had it in a bowl, not a big deal but a bit strange. A casserole dish would have been better. My wife had the spaghetti and it was OK nothing special just ok. The menu stated that bread came with the pasta dishes but our waitress didn't bring any so we asked about it..it came out a few minutes later..just a plain bread loaf..no butter..but in their defense it didn't say it came with butter on the menu. The lasagna was not very good. Vinny was in the restaurant and greeted us with a smile as we came in and was very welcoming. He is always that way. It would have been nice if he had made a round in the dining room and checked on the customers, He was at the bar eating his dinner so I guess that was the reason for not checking in. The last time we ate there it was pretty much what we experienced this time. I doubt I will be in a hurry to go back anytime soon. I will possibly give them another chance in the future and hopefuly they will regain their passion for the business and restore it to the way it use to be. I am not trying to be mean in this review and hopefully they will look at this and address some of the issues.

We stopped by Vinny's on a recent Saturday afternoon after watching a Salisbury University lacrosse game. My girlfriend ordered the bruschetta with ahi tuna. Exceptional! For her lunch she got the lasagna, i ordered a 12 inch veggie pizza. My girlfriend was very happy with her lasagna. She's Italian, so I guess she knows. My pizza was less than remarkable. It just lacked anything to remember it by. Bland tasting, with very few veggies. And come on, who besides companies shoving pizzas in a box for display in a grocery store frozen section puts canned mushrooms on their pie? Come on Vinny, canned mushrooms? Still no attention to detail on the appearance of the interior and exterior since my last visit. Even for being a former Roy Rogers fast food store this place could have some real character. The day we were there Bocelli was playing on the in-house stereo, and Whitney Houston's funeral was on the television. Quite a combo.

The only authentic Italian restaurant in Salisbury. Everything is made to order. Plenty of parking, great service, and a full bar. Daily specials are varied and rarely repeated week to week. Plenty of tables and a full menu. My fav place to eat in Salisbury.

Friendly place, but stick to the pizza. We ordered pasta entrees. They are a complete ripoff. For more than $14 a plate, we expected much much better. Angel hair was overdone mush. Sauce was thin. Both our dishes were lacking in flavor. We were trying to eat at local places while passing through on vacation, and this was our one negative experience in Salisbury.

I've been to this restaurante on a couple of occasions and have found my experience to be hit or miss. There've been times when the food has been outstanding, but other times when it would just be considered mediocre. During my last visit to this restaurante I've decided it will be my very last. The service was absolutely atrocious! Our waitress seemed to be more interested in flirting with the males sitting at the bar and messing around with her cell phone than she was in serving us. Additionally, this must have been one of the chef's off days! This is extremely disconcerting to me because their menu is extremely authentic. If you get their antipasto platter, most of the meats and cheeses are exquisite, and every thing is seasoned well! But, on my last visit it seemed like the gravy came out of a jar and the macaroni had been sitting in water all day. Based solely on my review, I recommend you try this place out for yourself. If you happen to get there on one of the good days you're going to have an absolutely fabulous meal. Perhaps a vast majority of it depends on what time of the day you arrive. During my last visit we went there for a late lunch. However, I still maintain my last experience is just that, my very last.

Vinny's, La Roma, La Roma Pizza, whatever it's called, is a Salisbury and Lower Shore institution, serving "Authentic Italian Cuisine." I went with a friend years ago who recommended it as the best Italian restaurant in the area. Over the years I've returned many times and found the food very good to awful, the service spotty even apathetic. Sometimes Vinny mans the kitchen, sometimes it's his son, sometimes God only knows. Consistency is the issue at Vinny's. The eggplant parmesan has long been a staple at Vinny's and on a recent visit it was at it's best. The eggplant slices, quickly fried and golden brown, were crisp and maintained a crunchy consistency under a light, very flavorful tomato sauce with melted mozzarella. The house salad can be inconsistent. Vinny's tends to plate the salad then place the servings 'ready to go' in the refrigerator. The trick is to ask for a group or table salad so all the portions are placed in one big bowl. The house dressing is very good - a veggie oil, white vinegar, garlic, parmesan cheese, concoction best served on the side. Vinny's tomato sauce is what holds the restaurant together. It's worth a special mention - the color bright red, the consistency very light bordering on thin, with a distinct tomato aroma - it's a basic sauce with just right acidity, at its best. It tends to become heartier, darker, when served with meatballs or sausage, but retains its subtle, rightly seasoned, tomato flavor regardless. I had a chicken, pancetta, olives, spinach concoction and it was good, not great, but flavorful and served piping hot. Our waiter recommended a Montepulciano d' Abruzzo and at $19 a bottle it was a pleasant surprise. Here's the deal with Vinny's. The place used to be busy on week nights, packed on weekends. Now due to the economy, quality issues, what have you, it seems markedly less so. My recommendation is be prepared - to return if it's off the night you visit, and likewise, if it's great one night you may be disappointed on your next visit.

We came here based on a recommendation. Now I question this person's taste. Wish I could say it was good, but my experience was pretty crappy. From the other reviews, it seems like Vinny's is a mixed bag. When it's good, it's really good, like eating at grandma's if your grandma was Italian, when it's bad, we'll it's like your Italian Grandmother dislikes you, so she's rude and feeds you badly. It took us a while from sitting down to finally having a server come around. The atmosphere is a little worn, but it wouldn't matter if the food was as good as I was hoping. It's in an old Pizza Hut building so you can't miss it. My husband ordered linguini with marinara and the pasta was overcooked and the sauce could have come from a bottle mediocre. I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana, which I had been craving for a while, I don't know who is in the kitchen that day who made that and what bad thing happened to them that day, but it was beyond unforgivable. It was a generous portion I will give you that, but it was also awful - the cheese isn't even melted on top (which how the server could miss that is beyond me), and it was literally still frozen in the middle, and the lukewarm bite that I had before I could flag the server down and ask for the dish to be cooked properly, (or just cooked at all period) I had a hard time chewing because the eggplant was so tough and leathery. I don't know if they buy frozen eggplant parm which would explain the inside layers being frozen, or if they pre-bread and freeze sliced eggplant and "cook to order" in which case, how old was that eggplant for it to be so tough I literally could not swallow it. So when the server finally got around to coming back, without the red pepper flakes and spoon we asked for when he brought our food out, my husband was almost half done with his dish, and I while still starving was just done, and showed him the half frozen leathery dish and asked for our check. I wish I had the great food some diners have had as I was really hoping for a great Italian place, My husband and I are both half Italian so we know good Italian food. Now with the mixed bag review, maybe I'll get lucky next time you say, but what if I don't? Food is too important to me, to chance having the pleasure of parting with hard earned money for what maybe another disappointing meal. You know what they say about first impressions... so, unless someone (with tastebuds I can trust this time) can tell me for sure when the good cook is in the kitchen, and guarantee me that he/she is not having a bad day, I'm afraid I'll pass.

Okay, I am officially done eating here. It's sad, too, because the food is really good. The vodka sauce is probably the best I've had anywhere. The reason why I'm finished with this place is the lousy service. The waitstaff consistently forgets to do little things like bring bread plates out, and you will likely need to ask to have drinks refilled. The last time I went, it took so long for them to bring out our entrees, I thought we were forgotten (again! This happens way too often...). It's just not worth the hassle.

La Roma is back! My family has been eating at this Salisbury institution for decades but the last time we ate there our experience wasn't as good as it had always been so we have not been by in a long time. Tonight's meal took me back to the Vinnie's of the 90's. Everything was as we had always remembered it. Good food, nice service & a cozy feel. I decided to forgo my longtime usual of Chicken Marsala and ordered the Tuna Puttanesca , which was a special. It was a Tuna steak over angel hair pasta covered with a spicy, tomato fish sauce studded with capers and black olives. It was very good. For an after-dinner drink I had an Espresso coffee, which they serve like they do in Italy in a tiny cup. This Espresso was definitely high-test, thus the small cup. My dining partner had the Chicken Marsala, but I felt no envy because I was satisfied with what I chose. I probably won't order it again, though, since I don't always go for spicy/semi-spicy dishes. This was my best time here since probably the late 90's. It's always good to see a longtime favorite sticking to what made them the go-to place in Salisbury.

This was my 2nd time to vinny's. The food was good both times. My girlfriend and I got the steamed mussels appetizer. They were nice large mussels and the broth was excellent. Garlic, lemon, white wine and butter, tough to go wrong there. For our entrees, the special was lobster fra diavlo, and my girlfriend got that. I got the seafood pasta, and they were happy to substitute fra diavlo sauce for me. The portions were large, and the sauce was excellent. My only complaint was most of the mussels in the pasta had not opened, but there was so much other seafood in it that it was only a minor drawback. It was a busy Friday night, so the service wasn't the fastest, but that was to be expected. Will definitely keep going to vinny's.

My girlfriend really loves the baked ziti here. I'm not a big fan of their food; I agree with the reviewer who said it was nothing special. The first time we went, I had the manicotti. The second time we went, I had cavatappi pasta with plain sauce. The manicotti was definitely better than the cavatappi with sauce, but neither was worth having again. I thought their specials were pricey. I also don't believe the atmosphere is anything to write home about. The seats are old and could use replacing or repadding, and the set up is a weird mix of small tables that seem too close to each other. and a couple booths. Service was attentive. If nothing else, however, I will vouch for their fresh bread. I liked that a lot.

Fantastic & Authentic Italian food that is created with home made recipes and the personal attention of Vinny, the owner. If you want something a little special you just ask and he will make you happy. Great place for quiet meals or a big party! I've been to both and it was great.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
