Walked in and walked back out. Smelled like a dingy closet. No one in the restaurant. No windows in the building. Buffet looked like it was standing for hours untouched. As another reviewer mentioned - don't be deceived by the images. The images are taken from another establishment!

Excellent food and very friendly service. The Mango Lassi is so fresh. The different dishes are fresh and tasty and the service is fast and very friendly.

Been here while visiting Ocean City and this place was on the way. There was no one up front when we reached there. Stood there for like 5 minutes before the waiter came and showed us our booth and then disappeared. It wasn't his fault, the place was short staffed. He just had too much to do. The decor was average, and the most important thing of any restaurant, the food was not good. For starters we ordered Samosas which were too oily. Taste wise i would give it 2.5 out of 5. Next we ordered lamb tikka masala which came with a pinkish gravy (just like chicken butter masala) with big pieces of bell peppers (lamb dishes do not have that kind of a gravy). The lamb pieces were not even tikka it was just plain cooked. Keema Naan was good but that just couldn't make up for the bad entree. The place was noisy as well. So all in all a very bad experience, not stopping here anymore.

MIND. BLOWN. This is legit one of the best Indian meals I have ever had. If you take the Route 50 bypass on the way to the beach instead of taking Route 50 Business and stopping here, you're a fool! Come prepared to eat and be sure to order a chai with your meal. Go with whatever the staff tells you is good because IT. IS. ALL. SO. DELICIOUS. Perfection. We can't wait to go back.

We dined at Taj recently and the place is nothing like the pictures on yelp. Please don't get deceived by the photos or previous star ratings. The food and decor is below average!

Hate posting something bad about a new place, but the mixed vegetables in curry sauce was actually made with frozen vegetable mix - completely inedible. Same reheated bland vegetables came with fried fish fillet. Service very slow. Saag paneer and chicken curry dishes were ok. Nice remodel of former mexican grocery but dining room had smoky haze when we were there. They didn't charge me for the veg. Curry.

I was so excited to finally have a chance to try some Indian cuisine, and I am by far no expert on what the food should be like, but i was disappointed by what I had at the Taj Mahal Restaurant and Tea House. I am simply giving my opinion in hopes that the owners will read this and fix the problem. I am so sorry to have to give a negative review for the dish I had, which was the butter chicken. The chicken itself was deliciously tender but the actual butter chicken sauce which I understand is supposed to have a creamy texture was not there. It was like someone poured a pot of melted butter over the whole dish or the butter had separated from the creamy part of the sauce. The flavor of the chicken itself was ok and I know if the sauce had been right, the dish would have been great but there was simply so much butter poured over it all that it was too greasy to finish. I had the naan bread with the chicken and it was very good! The other reviews for the restaurant are very good so I do plan to try the restaurant one more time, perhaps this time was a fluke.

Their na'an is amazing. The chicken tikka masala is no joke. This is good food, people.

I ate at Taj Mahal during its soft opening- and took friends from across the bridge with me. My boyfriend spent 3 years living in Nepal and was excited when I mentioned going to this new restaurant. We had a great experience there- our waiter was very friendly, the chicken dishes were great, and the naan bread was something I was particularly glad that they served! :). My boyfriend is a vegetarian and enjoyed all of the veggie dishes there- especially the spinach one... I also loved the spicy-ness: Not too much but a good kick! I think this restaurant has a lot of potential! @Les- that's a bummer about the curry- I have had two curry dishes there and both were very good! Maybe it was just a fluke?

Soooooo good! I had been living in salisbury for a few years before I discovered this place and I was so surprised more people didn't know about it. It's phenomenal! The chicken tikka masala is my favorite and the garlic naan is also really good. If you are looking for good Indian food look no further

Stopped in here about a month ago. Taj Mahal Restaurant is truly a gem! FYI, restaurant closes and does carry out only from 3-5 (can anyone say, 'nap time?'). I came by right around 5:15. The tables covered with white tablecloths, and carefully folded napkins. I was greeted by a young Indian gentlemen who showed me to my seat. There were a couple other parties dining, but it seemed like a quiet evening. It was pretty early on for their evening shift, so I guess that may explain it as well. I ordered the butter chicken and the lamb tikka masala. A note about portions - they tend to be relatively large, so the amount of food I ordered was definitely enough to feed 2-3 people, depending on the heartiness of their appetites. I wanted to try a little bit of both (my go-to dishes at Indian restaurants) so I ordered two entrees. The naan here, as many have said before me - AMAZING. I had both the regular and the garlic naan. The garlic naan had to have been some of the best naan I've ever had: the perfect amount of crunch combined with just enough fluffy doughy-ness and the perfect amount of garlic seasoning without being too overbearing. These naan are huge, I ended up packing one to take home. The butter chicken was perfectly seasoned and creamy. They even added sliced almonds as a garnish, which was a nice touch. The chicken, I often find at other restaurants to be overcooked in this dish, but it was moist, and seasoned well. The chef and his cooks no doubt know what they are doing, and for the price, it is fantastic. There was a generous amount of lamb in the lamb tikka masala and it was melt-in-your-mouth moist. I must have been licking it off my fingers after I cleaned the bowl. This is a definite stop-in for anyone in Salisbury. GET THE NAAN. I will be back again!

I went here for take out, simple fare. The meal was good but, the problem was in the delivery. After picking up the food and taking it home, I found it missing both bread and rice. Calling the Taj Mahal and the man on the phone expressly blamed me for not ordering correctly! I returned for my bread and rice and was given just that, not a apology or extra condiments. Mostly smug attitude. I ordered properly and got this fort efforts. All for adequate Indian food.....no wonder the place was empty.

LOVE! There's not much to the building (you might accidentally pass by it the first time you stop in), but the inside is a modestly cozy space. The food is awesome... and I've been fortunate to have some pretty awesome Indian food in other cities I've lived. This stands up to some of the best I've had... even when compared to the restaurants on Devon in Chicago or the food I've shared at an Indian friend's wedding. I typically stop in for the lunch buffet since I enjoy trying a variety of things. Everything I've tried has been amazing. I feel lucky to have such a gem in Salisbury.

I stopped by this restaurant the first day it was open and I just had to write a review. To start off, the naan was AMAZING. Seriously the best naan I've ever had. Had the spinach dip along with the naan as well as the lamb tikka masala and the chicken tandoori. The spinach dip has a nice texture and just the right amount of flavor to compliment the naan. Both the lamb and the chicken were really tender - the meat on the chicken just fell off the bone with ease. I'm very particular in how I like my tikka masala. Taj's was on point. Sauce was creamy, not too salty nor too spicy to enjoy eating. Was very impressed with the place and decided to bring my parents in the next night. They've never had any Indian/Pakistani food before and even they were blown away. Taj Mahal is a great successor to Namaste. Although even if Namaste was still open, Taj still takes the cake. Just wish I lived closer to this place. Too bad I live 5 hours away.

We ate there last weekend and had the lunch buffet. There was no wait. There was only one other party there. The service was good, we were greeted politely and shown to a table without a wait. The food selection was average, and the naan bread was included which was great. I love Indian food and eat it whenever I can. That said, I would give this food a C- at best. It just didn't taste fresh or delicious. Also, there were flies flying around our table. I feel bad giving it an honest two stars because the lady there seemed so nice, but the truth is there's a reason it is always empty and it's not the staff or the service.

Tried this. Went about 630 and i felt weird since I was the only one in the restaurant. Food wise? I ordered chicken tikka masala, it was excellent. The naan bread it was freshly made and it was awesome. N not so awesome, I had to choose between the naan bread and basmati rice! Naan bread should be complimentary as I would expect green tea is complimentary in Korean/japanese restaurant. Overall I had pleasant experience. price wise, it might be a little too pricey for such a small town like Salisbury?

Alright looking at the decent reviews among the restaurants around ocean city, we decided to try this place. But the fact is the buffet is horrible and no doubt the food is not fresh. The whole course is made with extra salt and surprisingly there are even flies flying around the plates while we are having lunch. Finally we wasted our appetite and money for some crap!

Best food, best prices. We were vacationing in ocean city for a week and ordered take out from this place almost every night. We tried to order different things from the menu each time and they blown us away every time. The food is always made fresh and the quality is good. Coming from boston, where indian food is expensive, we found this place relatively cheaper. A must try for all indian food lovers, you will be glad you did!

Have had the lunch buffet twice now and the food is excellent. The selection and quality are amazing. The place is very bright and clean. If you ever went there when it was fiesta Mex you won't believe it is the same building. Adding this place as a weekly lunch spot and looking forward to trying dinner there as well soon.
