Love this place! Great food, great service! They are inexpensive and the serving size - huge!! We love to get the taquitos Mexicanos, beef nachos and almost anything else on the menu. Found this place when we first moved here didn't realize it was a chain, you would swear abuela is in the back making dinner for the family. LOL. Give this one a try you will not regret it.

um. so our family raved about this place. How it was sooooo good. To each his own, i guess. Flavor- bland. how Mexican food can be bland is beyond me. i don't think this place is supposed to be authentic (is it?) but still, c'mon! Decor - typical. cheesy. Chips and salsa - plentiful. delicious. Guacamole - terrible, and did not taste fresh. tasted watered down or something. Service - slow. not terribly accommodating or helpful either. i don't want to return, but there are many people around this area who have not had good Mexican food (or even good American-Mexican food) so i am sure those people will continue to visit.

The food is mediocre Mexican.. but then again, living most of my life in Arizona and California, I have a much higher expectation about Mexican food. The pre-made taco shells should be a dead giveaway. I have yet to find REAL Mexican food on Delmarva. I have been going to Plaza Tapatia every so often (I usually go to the Seaford location until they closed it). Why, at this Salisbury location do they bring you a fairly big plate of chips and only give you about 5 tablespoons of salsa. You ask for more salsa with it more full, they bring you out another cup of salsa with only about 5 tablespoons of salsa in it. Why so chinsey at this location??? This has happened to me twice there recently. My last visit (Friday afternoon 4PM before the rush), the service was terrible. Our server and the other servers were unattentative, even when I tried to flag them down. I don't know if these issues are exclusive to the North Salisbury location or if this is this way everywhere else (especially being super cheap on the salsa).. If/when Seaford opens again, I will give them another try but for now, I think I will avoid the North Salisbury location.

Very good. Ingredients are very fresh, excellent preparation. Flavors are bright and seemingly authentic. My husband had a beef burrito & cheese enchilada with red sauce which he said was most satisfactory. I had 'custom' chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce: chicken was tender and juicy, the sauce had some spiciness to it but not overly so. The dining area was spotless and the service very friendly. The meal was excellent with it's own well-executed flair. Not overly salty as stated in other reviews. This was worth our 30-minute drive here.

I have only been here once, so far, but the initial impression was very good. Server helped me pick between Shrimp a la Diabla and Mole Ranchero. He knew how the mole was prepared and warned me emphatically about the heat level of the shrimp. I got the shrimp. They were HOT and very tasty. The shrimp themselves were smallish and pealed, I would have preferred larger peal on shrimp in this dish and would have given 5 stars for that, but I nit pick. It was a delicious dish. Large selection of tequila helps kill the heat.

Pros: Good friendly service Low prices Beer in 32oz mugs, Coors Light or similar is under $5 Excellent fries (ordered them for kids) Cons: Bad food. There is one easy test for Mexican restaurants- ask if their stuffed jalapenos are homemade. If they get them frozen- the food there sucks. I forgot to ask in advance, and it was a mistake. Even Taco Bell would be ashamed of their burrito. My wife order it without looking in the menu, later I noticed that it was only $4.50, should have been a tip-off. It was small, salty and the filling consisted of something I can only describe as a meat puree. My chicken breast was like a shoe sole. The old carpet was smelly. Why would you have a carpet in a restaurant?

The place is awesome. Nice atmosphere and the wait staff are super friendly. The food was very tasty. The only reason it gets four stars is because the fried ice cream was not freshly fried. It was cold and chewy. I would not order it again. Everything else was fantastic.

Great margaritas! Visit and try the Texas Fajitas. Lots of food. Inexpensive. And delicious!

When you've lived in Texas and had some of the best Mexican food in the world everything else seems to compare to Taco Bell. Sadly, this place fits the bill. The chips and salsa were decent, but everything else was SYSCO WITH SALSA. My wife and I had the tacos;she had soft shell and I had the hard shell tacos. Her Carne asada looked like cat food and tasted like expired SYSCO meat. My hard shell tacos were already soft and tearing from the grease of the cheap beef. The beef could have used some cumin and salt. I feel bad giving these folks a bad review, but the food was terrible. Also, all the hot sauces were ones you can buy at food lion. Make something "in house" please. Save your money and "Live Mas'" (Taco Bell)

Service was good. Food was boring and salty. Thought I would try it since so many ppl tell me is good. ... But I'm not tasting it. I actually think they dropped the chunks of pork in the deep fryer to warm it up.....

Tasty and authentic-seeming Mexican food that I had on an epic 8 hr road trip with my in-laws. The special white sauce it particularly good, but note that the combination plates don't come with salad.

The margarita was awesome as well as the service. The chips and salsa are fresh and taste great. I had the enchiladas with shredded beef. They would have been great except it tasted like someone dumped a bunch of salt in the meat. I'm not turned off by food that is salty but this was rediculous. I couldn't finish them. Maybe it was off night. The place is always full of people so it can't always be that way. I might try them again to see if it was off that night. After that, I'm done.

Seated right away. Waitress came right away to get our drink order. Brought a white salsa out with regular salsa ( tasted more tangy than spicy). I ordered a combination platter - chicken enchilada and chile rellano, my son had Huevos con Chirozos, and my husband had the Mexican Luncheon Burrito. The beef tips in the Mexican burrito were quite tender. The food on the dishes seemed to flow together (which my husband didn't like) we all thought the food tasted good!

Not the worst I've ever had, but definitely down there. The additional sauce they serve with the chips and salsa looks like queso and you are expecting hot gooey cheese dip in the end of your chip, by it is cold and tastes remarkably like tartar sauce. Avoid it. The beans were hard and crusty, my corn tortillas smelled faintly of raw sewage and the pico de gallo was mostly onions. My kids ate their enchiladas just fine though, so not all bad.

Need something a bit more authentic and not quite as salty as Taco Bell? Then Plaza Tapatia is for you! Service here is always fast and clean, with the food prepared as ordered. I advise those who would prefer to stay away from spice to avoid the white salsa. You have been warned! This location also seems to feature a mariachi band during Happy Hour on Mondays, so be prepared for that as well if you show up at that time.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
