I love Popeye's. The juiciness of the tender chicken. The crispiness of that amazing skin. The buttery fluffiness of the biscuits. The fatty yumminess of that cajun gravy. M'mmm...I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. So why the lame 2 star review for *this* Popeye's? Because they suck. Tragically so. Due to the fact that I'm one of those unfortunate people that can gain weight just by *thinking* about food, I try to store up my calories for more delicious yummies. I mean, if I'm going to get fat, I might as well blow it out for more worthwhile treats, right? However, my husband and I were about to put a pretty obscene offer on a house (we didn't get it. *sigh*), and we needed to bolster our morale with some bad for us fatty foods. Popeye's it is! To start with, the guy at the counter was slooooooooooooooooooow. As in, I ate my meal faster then it took him to take our order - which was two #1 Combos. Then, after we placed our order, and it looked like he was going to take *just* as long to gather our order (which I'm not sure how, as all the items were precooked at under heat lamps), my husband says - quite loudly, and in front of the guy - "ask for hot sauce while I go wash my hands". The guy doesn't bring give us any sauce packets - in fact after my husband got back from using the restroom (and the guy was STILL working on putting together 4 pieces of chicken, 2 biscuits, 1 corn and 1 container of coleslaw on our tray), he had to ask for the hot sauce. Twice. Also, we were unaware that the combos didn't come with drinks. Unlike most place which would say "would you like a drink with that?" when placing the order, he didn't say a thing. We didn't realize it didn't come with a drink (and come on, how can a combo not come with drinks?!?), until we said something about needing cups. So we had to order drinks, which then took another billion years for him to ring up (seriously, how hard is it to hit the drink button on the register twice???). Finally, this is not the first time I've been to this Popeye's and almost always I get stinky attitude and issues. So boo on you Popeye's! Boo!

My favorite fried chicken fast food chain! And super super friendly staff. My fav location for Popeyes!

Every time I come to this location my order is wrong. This past time the employee had the nerve to argue about what I had actually ordered. Basically he was trying to cover himself because my order was wrong. If the employees simply paid attention to the customers and stopped all of the side conversations, maybe they could get something right for once.

I am a visitor from Norfolk Virginia and most of the Popeye's no longer sale onion rings. So when I come this way to visit I always try to go to Popeye's to get onion rings. On Sunday December 21 I went to this Popeye's and ordered onion rings. Now they are cooked to order so you know that they will be hot. While waiting the manager on duty stated that they were having computer problems, but I have more time than money I can wait. The cashier continued to talk and the manager asked her to shut up in front of customers which I thought was rude and unprofessional. Now back to the onion rings, got them home ready to ponce and they are undercooked. Such a disappointment after traveling more than 220 miles for some onion rings. Lesson learned, check before I leave next time.

No drive thru!?! They don't know how to make onion rings! They are so slow!! They have gotten my order correct though and are pleasant. I will still go here because it's the only one in the area but never again for their onion rings!

This Popeyes is the most poorly run Popeyes I've ever been to. It should not even be classified under fast food. You'll wait forever and not get all your food. You will have to repeat your order twice and a third time to pay. For some reason it appears to always take 2 employees to man a single register making the line move ridiculously slow even though here's rarely more then a few people. They also like to completely step away from the counter so the entire line is waiting will no one is being helped. If you finally make it through the excruciating ordering process you're still in for more frustration. There will be no straws and the soda machine needs refilling frequently even when there are less then 3 people in the store and you will likely be missing items from your order. I've seen the same manager every time and tried mentioning the reoccurring issue of overall poor service and inefficiency in a freaking fast food restaurant where the food literally sits right behind the counter and all I got was an attitude and the insinuation that I was fishing for a refund for the coleslaw they forgot on my last visit instead of opening his mind to constructive feedback on how a restaurant I frequented weekly could be vastly improved. Customer lost. Not returning.

Went there several times, the chicken was dried and hard. The chicken was like tree barked. The chicken smelled funny, salty and hard. This will probably be the last time I'll be coming to this place. It was recooked from the day before. I know because I'm a chef for 25 years. When I was waiting for my bag to go, some worker was spraying sanitizer or something next to my bag. When I asked for another bag they said "it didn't reach your bag" but I really can't go against that because it was on the outside of the bag, but still didn't like it. Also saw workers putting ice in the soda machine without wearing gloves several times. Saw them holding the bucket with their bare hands touching the ice.

Usually very satisfied, but today I witnessed one of the managers blatantly yelling at the employees whom were working in the back. Gave the entire restaurant a bad vibe and the employees just looked depressed and unhappy to be working for this popeyes... Understandably.

I came in as normal. I ordered four meals. They told me my order was ready, assuming it was ready like any other customer walked up and picked up my order. I drive home I find out my order was incomplete. I had only gotten three of four meals. I called, they were apologetic but really come on now. Double check? Be awake? This place thrives on subpar un-attentive service! I had to drive back for a meal. The Managers are very very very lacking in skill and operational duties! Wake up guys and pay attention.

Nicest Popeyes I've been to. Very clean and the food was HOT! The staff was very nice and efficient and the manager was making sure the whole place was clean & everyone was happy. A very young staff running a very tight ship -- loved it.

Nice crisp and tasty chicken! However their spicy is never spicy at all. And they charge a lot for their small pieces of chicken. This was a review for the one located at: 9147 Riggs Rd, Adelphi, MD 20783. But I guess they're no longer there since 2 years ago. Oh well

Popeyes should learn to be more like McDonalds, and be timed on their transactions because they are so SLOW. Came here around ~9pm on a Thursday night, and there were of course about 6 customers waiting around in line. Should it really take 10 minutes to get fast food. Too bad I'm addicted to their spicy chicken & french fries.

The effers are now charging .57 cents to use your credit card over $5 wtf?? I still like the chicken, but will need to remember to bring cash and get all that nasty change back.

Awesome chicken, but still is grease food...

This gets two stars rather than one because it's cheap. Two pieces of chicken, coleslaw, biscuit and a drink for $5. But, as they say, you get what you pay for, and the chicken was tasteless, the biscuit dry and the slaw too sweet. I liked the coke.

This is the best Popeye's I've been to...ever. The chicken is always consistently great, but there's only so much enjoyment of eating fried chicken until the grease kicks in...

For some reason this is the best Popeye's in the DC area. Much better than the ones on Georgia Ave, the one on Columbia Rd in Adams Morgan, or the one in Pentagon City. My boyfriend's from Chicago, and he raves about how this chicken is much better than at the Popeye's in the Chi. The reason this chicken is so good? Perfectly seasoned with just the right spiciness, tender, juicy, and crispy. Yum. If you're in the area this Popeye's is finger lickin' good.

I've come to this location a few times and EVERY SINGLE TIME, there's a problem. From having to wait for staples to be cooked, to incomplete orders, I just don't get how they tend to screw everything up! During my most recent visit, I ordered 2 mild chicken tender meals. Well after being told that I had to wait for the tenders to be prepared, I actually saw the guy mix both mild and spicy tenders in both orders. He tried to deny it, but I was standing there looking right at him. So after I had him redo it, he still managed to forget 2 of my sides. Another time I was in there, the woman who took my order was moving at a snail's pace. By the time she got to filling my order, the new batch of tenders were almost gone. Although it was 2 of the exact same order, she still managed to screw it up by giving me the wrong sides. So if you go to this location, double check your order before you leave. If you don't, there's a 90% chance that you'll be sorry.

I just gave them a great review and when we got home after having 2 / 20piece chicken and paid for all white meat it turns out they were all dark meat very sad But I must say the chicken still is good

I needed some food - and fast before I went to a concert Monday evening. Options appeared to be limited. I came across this Popeye's. Went in, ordered the Catfish Combo - fried catfish, mashed potatoes with Cajun gravy, a biscuit, and a soda. The Catfish was not bad - it was the best part of the meal - but I've had better. The mashed potatoes were good - although the Cajun gravy was to thin and runny. The biscuit was your run-of-the-mill, dime-a-dozen, generic, uninteresting biscuit. I wolfed the food down and then headed to my concert.

It's Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Carnival! Sure there's better Cajun food in the area, but if you want easy parking, quite good food, and you don't want to wait for a table, this is the place. I made a pot of red beans and rice this morning. It took three hours. It's the best. But when I don't want to spend that kinda time (or that kinda money), Popeye's RB&R is an excellent, porky substitute. They used to have hammy green beens that I loved. If we all keep asking for them, maybe they'll bring'em back! Be sure to check for coupons: hosted.where2getit.com/p…

SCAM ALERT: I paid in cash to recieve a "discount" but still was charged a $.057 fee??? WTF? So slow, and the location is inconvenient. Say hello to the multitude of other options to chose from on rockville pike.
