I've worked with the wonderful Dianne Lucks and her staff for over 13 years on three B'nai Mitzvoh and several smaller occasions at my home. Since that time I've referred countless people to them....Recently she did a small brunch at my home and it occurred to me that this review is long overdue. I have found them to be easy to work with, accommodating, willing to stay within a budget (or not) and lovely, lovely, lovely. On my first experience with them at my first B'nai Mitzvoh, the decorator messed up badly and Dianne and her team went above and beyond to step in and help. I know there are a lot of new, trendy caterers to choose from but if you want great food, appropriately priced and complete dependability, try Lucks.

My fiance, my mom and I went for a cake tasting with Cakes In Style and they are a must! Rob and Lucia are a husband and wife who are a great team! Lucia's cakes were delicious! She offered cake flavors that other places don't even let you try or don't even offer for a cake tasting. Prior to the tasting, Lucia and I had a conversation over the phone and she was very easy to talk to. Rob was the one that sat with us and asked our details of the wedding. He was patient, nice, offered his suggestions and was excited with our design and concept. He is the baker while Lucia put the cake together and decorates. Rob drew out the cake plan and once we were done, we got to taste the cakes Lucia prepared for us. They are most and soooo tasty! You can definitely taste the flavor of the cake and not just the filling. We are currently working out our cake plan with them still, but every communication has been a pleasant one. They seem to be very accommodating and offer other options that can work with our budget. Your cake shouldn't only look good, they have to taste good. The people that bake and make your cake is important. The person baking your cake or designing should be the one you are speaking with when you are ordering. The way they treat you and careful with you before your actual wedding and even before you sign a contract will tell you a lot. You will trust that on the day of your wedding-- the cake won't be something you worry about. Trust me, we went on about 5 other cake tastings and Cakes In Style was our last one and even though their price is slightly higher-- the quality of service and the taste of the cake go hand in hand!
This was my first experience with Cakes in Style. My sister was having a baby shower and the theme was Jungle. The cake we ordered was BEAUTIFUL. Better than expected. Above and beyond! But the taste was subpar and the guests at the shower thought that the cake was old. I had to apologize and made a joke that at least it was pretty. I ordered a vanilla and marble flavors. The marble tasted better but was still not as tasty as the box mix cupcakes we made. Perhaps we ordered plain flavors and that's why the cake was bland? In any case. I was overall happy with my order and will order from them again and will choose different flavors. Great folks and the cake was stunning!
I contacted Cakes in Style as I saw they on their gallery, some Korean first birthday (dol) cakes. I ordered a cake topper and at the party, it was a hit! (see pictures) and the details to the toppers was excellent. The cupcakes were very good and not too sweet. I recommend this place for anyone looking to get custom cakes.

We decided to go with Cava Catering after being quoted outrageous prices from catering places. I'm a huge fan of Cava restaurants, and love their catering service even more now. We had a formal dinner for 16 guests at our private home, and Scott from Cava was so helpful - and spot on! - in helping select a menu that catered to a variety of tastes. He even held me back and convinced me to not go overboard :) when I called him the day before to order more food for the party. Scott was extremely helpful, and Cava Catering also provides servers for $40/hour. To be honest, probably some of the best $$ spent for the party. Our server, Andy, was extremely professional and set-up the entire food service for 16 guests and cleaned up afterwards. He took attentive care of each of our guests and helped to explain the food, and even after when the night was winding down, I checked in, only to realize he had washed all of our dishes AND placed the leftover food in to-go containers. I can't express how happy I am that we went with Cava Catering. Their food was superb and they have a great selection through their catering menu. The lamb Kapama was a huge hit, as were the spanakopitas and cheese pies. And on top of delicious, well-plated food, the service from when I initially ordered (with Scott) to the actual dinner service (with Andy) was superb. If we host another formal dinner party, I won't hesitate to hire Cava Catering again and if you do so, be sure to request Andy!
I bought a small container of Cava tabbouleh at my local Whole Foods in Glen Mills, PA and it is delicious. Can't wait to try other products and visit the restaurant in DC that started it all.
Like KP J. I am a huge fan of Cava restaurants so I was delighted to see that had a catering menu to use for a work luncheon. The menu was extensive, had everything I love from Cava and was very budget friendly. The best part? The quality of the food was as high as the quality of food from the Cava restaurants(!), which isn't something you come across often with restaurant catering. Our final invoice was hundreds of dollars less than quotes I received from other companies. Scott, the catering manager, and his team were extremely professional. Quick to respond to emails and phone calls and easy to work with. We ordered the skewered meal from the express menu which was $10.95 per person and came with rice and two options of a side. It was plenty of food! Everyone loved the food and kept asking where we ordered from. I can't recommend Cava Catering enough and will without a doubt use Cava Catering for future events. My mouth is watering just thinking about it....

Love, love, love this deli. I go there at least once or twice a week for lunch and have always had meals with consistent good quality. Their ingredients are fresh, and they make many items to order, if you ask for substitutions and add-ons. The service is friendly , and many times the owner will know her customers by name. I have introduced several co workers to Research Cafe, and they have all returned on their own for lunch. I also really like that their items do not taste as though they add too much salt to them, and their hot sandwiches/subs are not as greasy as other delis'. If you are in the area and need a quick bite, check it out!
So far, I've liked everything I've tried at this cafe. It's a nice place to go to for a sandwich and soup. The workers are also very friendly and they are quick with their service.
Sandwiches are excellent. The staff are very friendly. The seating area is small but clean. The lines can be long during lunch time as many people are drawn here to eat. Good idea to call your order in before coming in.

If you're looking for great Argentinian food this is the place. Their sausages and stakes are so good. Service is always great and they have an awesome selection of wine.
Great food (Argentine, not Mexican), great wine, great desserts, and hot waiters. This place should be slammed all the time! So why is it not? o Seating. Un-upholstered IKEA-quality chairs o Flatware. Horrible Chinese-made forks that bend under the weight of even the smallest morsel, and handles so sharp and unpolished as to inflict pain o Temperature. Thermostat set for the comfort of hard-working kitchen staffers or menopausal women. Others should bring jackets and gloves. In summary: great food, lovely music, tasty and well priced. We will definitely be back. With our own chair pads, flatware, and wraps.

The staff at this location is THE BEST!! Especially Philly (the manager)!!! There hasn't been a time where I was not greeted with a smile at this place. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, especially with customizing a drink to meet your needs. I love this location!!! This is the only location I will go to when I'm craving Jamba :) You guys are awesome! Thank you for the wonderful service you provide!!!
Thank goodness for Jamba Juice! Wonderful, friendly service here and delicious, beautifully prepared acai bowls. The store is clean, bright, and welcoming -- I am so glad to find this place, and we will be coming here regularly.
The Pros: -Clean -Nice Customer Service -Lots to offer on the menu (food, juices, smoothies) -Shots can be added to drinks. Range about .25-.65 cents extra -Medium size is quite large. Worth the money (I think around $5.65?) -Straws work well since the smoothies are thick The Cons: -Very limited seating... One table, two chairs -Menu has a lot to offer, but can be a bit overwhelming. Especially if there is a line behind you and you are unsure of what to get -No toilet paper in the bathroom on my visit BP ordered a kale smoothie with a shot of soy. It taste like grass... I went with one of the mango peach ones. I thought the smoothie would make me feel full, but it actually made me feel hungrier. Nothing against Jamba Juice, just FYI. We had a buy one get one free coupon off of ben's bargins ( jambajuice.com/~/media/w… ) so we got the medium sized smoothies. I did not get to finish mine, even though it was very good. I am a bit nervous to see what my leftover smoothie will taste like today...

Kielbasa Factory

Awesome authentic Keilbasa and Pierogi! Awesome Deli!!!!!!
It's Fat Tuesday!!! You know what that means?! Paczki!! That's what motivated this non red meat eating gal to venture onto Rockville Pike on a weekday. What can be better than a Polish Market to buy my fried ball of love from? (Folks in Hamtramck, MI wait in two hour lines for these.) Well... I was expecting to see mounds of powdered sugar topping these goodies. Instead, their paczki are glazed. I can't quite identify what they are filled with either. Generally it's jelly or custard. Mine kinda tasted like and had the consistency of ... apple butter. Hmm? I ate it anyway. Half now; half later. They're huge and worthy of the $1.25 price tag. However, I think I'll stick with Woodmoor Pastry Shop in the future. Paczki aside, just in case you are wondering, this is not a factory that makes kielbasa as perceived by the name. Maybe in the backroom they are. This place is the Polish equivalence of the front half of Cafe Mozart in DC. It has a deli. It sells all kinds of Polish goodies. Does a Cadbury chocolate bar taste different when it's wrapped in a Polish label? Hmm? Edit note: I just found out the filling was rosehip jelly.
I don't know how to say this without anyone reading into it, but I actually don't eat that much sausage. However, this place does very much remind me of my Polish roommate who always took an extra empty suitcase back to Chicago with her and came back with it filled with kielbasa. Dzieki, pani! She was the one who introduced me to this place, and although I see sausage as a vessel for eating lots of mustard and sauerkraut, there are lots of things to entice me in this small Polish market/deli. First of the potato and cheese (or cabbage) pierogies here are the best to buy and freeze. Secondly, zywiec beer. Third, cheap delicje cookies. They are jelly filled chocolate covered cookies (best flavor: apricot), that are so good that if the Girl Scouts started selling these cookies I would avoid them less. I'd also be 500lbs. And lastly pickled goods, I love pickled anything (except for herring). If you're planning a tailgating extravanganza and need some flavorful kielbasas to barbeque, go here (FYI: some sausages are made there, others are brought in from Chi town). Don't forget the koscuisko spicy mustard and fresh sauerkraut. And if you're in the mood for polish pastries like the ones Libby F describes come here early on a Saturday morning before they sell out.

This place is wicked. Get there before noon or after to avoid the lunch crowd, as it gets SLAMMED.
Excellent food- excellent service. I Love La Brasa. Carne asada, Taquitos, Enchiladas, Chimichangas, Seafood soup, Overall- everything is yummy.
I am Mexican. My wife is not. I have long sung the glories of Latino food, but have failed to impress her....until finding La Brasa. Seating is limited, but half of the parking lot is filled with people waiting for take-out. Everything on the menu is amazing...everything. This food puts the home cooking I was raised on to shame. Dining in, we had: Drink: Chilled Modelo. Appetizer: Taquitos. Entre: Chicken enchiladas, chicken quesadilla, split a mariscada soup. Tha mariscada was the best. It gave me food euphoria (AKA foodgasm) just eating it. The rush of endorphins and dopamine in my brain made me savor each bite/sip. It was THAT good. Next adventure here: Lengua, (beef tongue), rotisserie chicken, sangria. You will NOT be disappointed for either take-out or dining in.
