First let me say that I'm a real fan of american chinese food, and I've had it all over the country. Now with that said China East makes some of the best chinese food that I've had. Nothing fancy here, and it's a small place that does virtually all their business via take out and catering. If you're looking for great chinese food in the North Potomac area then this should definitely be one of the top places on your list. If you like crispy duck I'd highly recommend it, and the shrimp and broccoli is also great! BTW, I have no idea what some of these haters are talking about, the place is very honest, and the food smells and tastes fantastic. Just hope it doesn't get too popular as takeout is very fast at the moment (15-20 minutes).

I love this restaurant.. I order from this restaurant a LOT! They have truly delicious foods here! YUM!!! LOL!! Hubby and I love eating their Orange Chicken and their General Tso's chicken(which is spicy but, orangie.....(if that is a word)! and very tasty)!! LOL!! I have NOT eaten around the world like sooo many people have..but, I have eaten at a lot of Chinese food places..(or American Chinese food places to be more exact)! I love this one restaurant a LOT..and I have to give it ALL of the stars here..because to ME.. it's delish!! I think that they do a great delivery service too!! I have NOT tried everything on their menu..but, the things I love so far are : General Tso's Chicken, and the Orange Chicken , the Lemon Chicken, the Sweet and sour chicken, I think that their ducks(I can't recall which one I have ordered in the past though) are very good and worthwhile!! I guess because I can't recall every single one of their dishes.. I just wish to say how delicious they all are.. try this place.. you won't regret it!! I am a vegetarian and they understand the other without problem. My kids love their lo mein and egg plant curry. A bit more oily than i prefer but very nice take out place.

gone down hill lately...... 3x in a row, order not complete PLUS FOUND A BLACK HAIR IN MY LUNCH ORDER and they really don't care and now charging a fee if your order is under $10 with a credit card. THIS IS NOT ALLOWED By the credit card companies. VERY DiSHONEST

For a quick Sunday takeout lunch, this is my spot to go to. I always order the sesame chicken, and if my brother wants to get an order in, it's always that General Tso's chicken. The chicken is freshly fried, and is accompanied with some white or fried rice with a side of steamed broccoli. This is not authentic chinese food, but it what it is. An extra charge of 50 cents is added if you are paying by credit card and if the order is less than 10 dollars.

Their food has a weird smell, as in old and not fresh. I've ordered several times over the last few years and it's always the same. The most recent occasion the woman on the phone yelled at me for no reason (I was just giving my phone number) and was exceptionally rude so that was the last straw. Never again. If I want Chinese food delivered I just order from Good Fortune in Kentlands now.

When I was living in Maryland (I moved in 2006), China East was my favorite place to grab lunch. If you live in the Stonebridge area, it's convenient and quick. However, I've had some bad experiences. Generally speaking, their food is cheap and delicious. They have generous servings and it's consistently tasty, but you run the risk of getting sick. In the three years I consistently ate there, I got sick about four times. Once, I even found a staple in my Beef & Broccoli. The staple had been cooked and was caked with sauce, so I assume it fell in while they were adding the ingredients. Aside from that, their food is delicious. I've been there enough to see the inside of the kitchen when the backdoor is open and I'm amazed they pass their health inspection. The place is filthy and I can see bags of rice sitting on the floor, and workers without proper gloves/hair nets. It's unsettling, but clearly not so much so that I would stop eating there. There is limited indoor seating, it's mainly a carry-out place. They do deliver to a limited area, and the food comes out pretty quickly. It's ready about 10 minutes after ordering. If you're looking for something that tastes good, is cheap and you have a strong stomach, I would check it out.

Good, consistent, Americanized Chinese food. That's not a slight; almost all of the Chinese food we get in the 'burbs is that way: sweet brown sauces, lots of fried meats, etc. Generous portions, reasonable prices, carry-out only. A change in ownership a couple of years ago was the best thing to happen this place. The new owners are friendly and pleasant.

China East used to be right in my back yard growing up in high school (literally) -- an unsuspecting, tiny little restaurant, disguised as a house, that offered good, cheap, greasy Chinese food. Everything tasted the same (salty and greasy), but I didn't mind -- I could always count on them for my quick Chinese fix just behind my house.
